【2024· 苏州中考改编】【现代科技与工业·电车】China has
become the world’s largest producer and market of EVs(电车).
According to a report, 9.58 million Chinese-made EVs were produced
and 9.49 million were sold in 2023. Among the total sales, 1.2 million
EVs were exported(出口).
The Chinese government has been encouraging EVs as part of its
effort for green, high-quality development. As a result, China’s EV
industry develops very quickly. At Auto(汽车) China 2004, BYD
was the only company showing EVs there. At Auto China 2024, there
were 278 different EV models on show, including BYD, SAIC,
Geely, Li Auto, Nio, Xpeng and other brands(品牌).
China’s EV industry is now facing both challenges and chances. It’s
reported that 71% of EV brands cut prices in 2023. EV makers without
the ability of innovation(创新) will face growing risks. In order to be
both green and smart, Chinese EV makers are trying hard to improve
technologies like battery qualities and AI support. At the same time, the
government is adding even more charging points(充电站). On the
other hand, more Chinese people are aware of the environmental
problems. It is encouraging more buyers to choose EVs.
EVs are the way of the future. In an ideal world, everyone benefits
from innovation and green transport. Some might get there sooner than
others, and will gain greater rewards. It is very likely that China will
hold the lead.

【2024·达州中考】Nowadays, many young people are busy with
their work, and they don’t have time to shop every day. They often buy
enough food for at least a week. But eating food not kept correctly could
make you sick. The fridge may be a perfect choice for keeping food safe
and fresh, but it’s not a magic box to keep all kinds of food. Follow these
tips and learn how to store food correctly in your fridge.
The temperature in the fresh-keeping area can be different in
different shelves. Generally speaking, the higher the shelf is, the higher
the temperature will be. So use these different temperatures to keep your
food on the right shelf. Try to put ready-to-eat food like hamburgers,
pizza or cream cakes on top shelves. The middle shelves are the most
suitable for dairy products(乳制品) such as cheese, butter and yogurt.
Bottom shelves are the coldest part of the fridge, making them perfect for
keeping raw meat and seafood. Some fridges have a freezer for keeping
these things, so of course make use of that if you have one.
Keeping food in the fridge does not kill bacteria but it can stop the
bacteria from growing fast. Bacteria can grow quickly in temperatures
between 5℃ and 60℃. This is the Temperature Danger Zone. If you want
to get the most out of your food, the temperature in the fresh-keeping
area needs to be between 0℃ and 5℃. The freezer temperature should be
below -18℃.
Everyone should pay attention to food safety. Hope these tips can
help you keep your food fresh as long as possible.

【2024·兰州中考】【传统节气·三伏天】The dog days, also
called Sanfutian in Chinese, refer to the hottest and most humid days of
the year. This hottest period can be different from year to year. It starts in
July and lasts for about 30 to 40 days. It has three stages: Chufu,

many cold foods.

and peanuts. It’s better not to eat uncooked, cold or spicy foods. Besides
choosing the proper foods, the taste of a dish is also important. Sour
taste can improve the appetite and bitter taste makes people feel refreshed.

【2024·汕头二模】【传统服饰·马面裙】As a kind of traditional
Chinese dress, Mamianqun(horse-face skirt) first appeared in the
Song dynasty and grew popular during the Ming and Qing dynasties. The
two sides of Mamianqun are pleated(打褶的), and there is a smooth
part in the middle, commonly known as “Mamian”.
Why is it called “Mamian”? In fact, “Mamian” is a kind of
structure(结构) used for protection in the city wall system. However,
all the books about Mamianqun only show that the smooth surface without
pleats in the middle is called “Mamian”. But there is no further
explanation of how Mamianqun got its name.
Mamianqun is colorful, mostly red and blue. Red means good luck
and joy. According to Han customs, women usually wore red skirts
during the celebrations of festivals. In the Qing dynasty, blue was also
common and popular, paired with black and yellow.
Mamianqun has different kinds of patterns with different meanings.
For example, loong and phoenix(凤凰) patterns show the love
between a man and a woman or a beautiful marriage. Peony(牡丹) is a
symbol of wealth and honor.
Recently, Mamianqun has become a popular form of skirt for hanfu
fans. More and more modern fashion designers find ideas from
Mamianqun. For example, some get ideas from the patterns. Some

【2024·南充中考】【传统手工艺·糖画】Sugar painting, as the
name means, is a painting made of sugar. It’s the sugar for us to taste,
and the painting for us to admire.
Since the Warring States Period(战国时代), the ancient people
loved sweets and developed methods of producing sugar. In the Tang
dynasty, there was huge progress in the technology of sugar making.
And sugar, the precious product once only served to the emperors and
princes, also went into common people’s homes. With the cultural and
economic(经济的) development of Song and Yuan dynasties, people
became less interested in only tasting sweetness. In the Ming dynasty,
some people added pictures with good luck into the bowl of sugar, and
sugar painting appeared.
Sugar painting is different from normal painting. Sugar painters use
syrup(糖浆) as the material, a spoon as the “paintbrush”, and a
smooth table as the “paper”. To make syrup, they have to make sugar
hot before painting. Since syrup may become hard if it cools, the
painters have to produce the work very quickly. They move the spoon full
of syrup up and down, left and right. Soon a sugar painting is done.
However, it’s a pity that this folk art is dying recently. The sugar
painting that used to be rich in shapes has become poorer and poorer
because of fewer needs. What’s worse, few people seem to be willing to
pass on the art except those aging sugar painters.
For most people, painting is a kind of art and difficult to
understand. However, sugar painting has pulled the art down into
people’s daily lives. Through it, we may see the spiritual support of the
ancient people across centuries. Now, sugar painting has been listed as
an intangible cultural heritage(非物质文化遗产) in China.
Therefore, the art should be remembered, missed and passed on.

【2024·无锡中考改编】
A theory of emotion
Two scientists called Stanley Schachter and Jerome Singer developed
the two-factor theory of emotion in 1962. They said that emotions are
formed in two parts. First, the body has a physical response to a threat
and then the mind considers the physical response as an emotion,
which is then felt by the person. For example, imagine you are
walking through a forest and you see a bear. Seeing it would probably
start a physical response, such as your heart beating very fast and
sweat breaking out. Your mind then decides that this is fear, which
you feel as an emotion.
①A new study has suggested that the key to reducing feelings of
anger is not venting (letting the angry emotions out) but doing calming
activities such as yoga or meditation.
②The study was published in March by Sophie Kjaervik and Brad
Bushman from Ohio State University in the US. They wanted to explore
the popular theory that venting (expressing) anger is a good way of
reducing it. Examples of venting anger include shouting or hitting
something like a cushion, so that you let go of the emotion and therefore
don’t feel it any more. The pair looked at 154 other studies on anger.
These involved 10,189 people, and included a variety of ages and
backgrounds. In their study, Kjaervik and Bushman define anger as “an
emotional response to a real or imagined threat(威胁)”. They used a
theory of emotion(情绪假说) that says emotions are partly felt in your
body and partly in your mind.
③The scientists looked at the other studies to see how different
activities influenced anger. They found that activities such as running or
boxing-which are often thought to be good for dealing with anger-
weren’t very good at reducing it. In fact, some of these activities actually
made it worse because they increased physical responses in the body that
are linked to feeling angry. For example, they made people’s hearts beat
faster. However, activities that decreased physical responses in the body
did help to reduce feelings of anger. These included activities that slow the
heart rate, such as deep breathing, meditation and yoga. Bushman says
activities that increase physical responses may be good for heart health but
are “definitely not the best way to reduce anger”.
④The team found jogging was most likely to increase anger.
However, some heart-rate increasing activities-like ball games and
team sports-could reduce anger.

【2024·眉山中考】Which is more important in your mind, looking
fashionable or feeling comfortable? You may find many people choose
style over comfort and some even go to extremes(极端) to follow
fashion. But we should remember: being fashionable isn’t everything.
It’s more important to be healthy.
Some people believe that they need to be a certain size to look good.
So, they start extreme diets that are not good for their health. They might
not eat meals or eat too little, which can make them feel sick. Is it a
healthy way to live?
Also, many girls wear shoes with very high heels. They might think
high heels make them look taller. But these shoes can actually hurt their
feet and make it hard to walk comfortably, and they can increase the risks
of falls. Some even wear tight clothes that influence blood circulation(循
环), making it hard to breathe. Should we put fashion over comfort and
physical health?
Besides, some boys and girls spend a lot of time and money
changing their hair color. The material they use is usually harmful to their
health. To make their hair straight or curly, they also use tools that are
hot enough to burn their hair. But using these tools too often or at very
high temperatures can make the hair dry or even burnt. Is it really worth it
to risk our health, spending so much time and money?
So, let’s think again what’s really important. Is it fashion or is it
our well-being? Clothes or hairstyles don’t tell us anything about a
person’s character. Instead of spending a lot of time choosing clothes,
we could use that time to do fun things with friends. And instead of
following extreme diets, let’s eat properly and exercise regularly.
Remember, the value of you is not decided by your appearance, but by
who you are as a person.
( B )1. Why do some people go on extreme diets according to the
