B Sarah Toumi, a young girl growing up in France, had a dream of becoming a leader who could make a positive impact on the world. Her desire to help others was awakened when she accompanied her Tunisian father to his hometown in the eastern part of Tunisia during vacations. During her time there, she organized homework clubs and activities for children. Toumi personally witnessed the destructive effects of desertification(沙漠化). She realized that within 10 years, wealthy farmers had become worse off. Toumi was determined to stop the progression of the Sahara Desert. Due to a decrease in average rainfall and an increase in severe droughts(干旱), approximately 75% of Tunisia’s agricultural lands are currently at risk of desertification. Toumi understood the need for a shift in farming practices. She firmly believed that even small plots of land could bring significant returns if farmers were willing to adapt. This adaptation involved planting sustainable crops, using advanced water treatment technologies, and prioritizing natural products and fertilizers(肥料)over chemical alternatives. In 2012, Toumi took a decisive step towards realizing her dream of fighting desertification. She moved to Tunisia and set up a program called Acacias for All, with the aim of putting her sustainable farming principles into action. “I want to show young people in rural areas that they can create opportunities where they are. Nobody is better able to understand the impact of desertification and climate change than somebody who is living without water. ” By September 2016, over 130,000 acacia trees had been planted on 20 pilot farms, with a survival rate of 60% reported by farmers. Toumi estimates that around 3 million acacia trees are required to protect Tunisia's farmland. She plans to plant 1 million trees by 2018. In the coming years, Toumi aims to expand the program to Algeria and Morocco. 24. How did Toumi’s holiday trips to Tunisia influence her? A. They made her decide to leave the country. B. They helped her better understand her father. C. They destroyed her dream of being a teacher. D. They inspired her to help others. 25. What is the main cause of the desertification of Tunisia’s farmland? A.Cold weather. B. Soil pollution. C.Low rainfall. D. Forest damage. 26. Why did Toumi establish Acacias for All in Tunisia? A. To ensure access to primary education for children. B. To promote the conservation of agricultural land. C. To generate job opportunities for young people. D. To persuade the farmers not to use fertilizers. 27. Which of the following can be the best title for the text? A. The Impact of Desertification on Tunisia’s Agricultural Lands B. Sarah Toumi: A Young Leader Making a Positive Impact C. Addressing Poverty in North Africa D. The journey of a French girl in Tunisia C While facial recognition technology continues to promote many aspects of human life, it's now being applied to aid the protection of giant pandas, Xinhua News Agency reported on 6 January, 2022. A nature reserve has built an AI-enabled video monitoring system to better protect giant pandas. Equipped with 300 infrared(红外线的) cameras, the monitoring system helps ensure the health and safety of 110 wild giant pandas there. It was put into operation two years ago, and has captured numerous photos and videos of pandas engaged in activities such as eating, resting and fighting for mates. It provides scientific data to help us grasp pandas’ living conditions and establish conservation strategies. More importantly, it achieves real-time monitoring of the reserve so that we can discern the threats to the wildlife as early as possible. A recent study found the facial recognition system could automatically recognize various wild animals caught in infrared cameras, allowing researchers to collect data on giant pandas while staying indoors. It's shown that by equipping the reserve with the AI-aided system to store the filed photos of giant pandas, we obtain a 98% success rate for species recognition. Its success rate of recognizing other wild animals can top 80%. In 2021 alone, this monitoring system captured 2,896 photos of giant pandas and other rare animals and filmed 3,218 seconds of footage, showcasing the reserve's sound ecological environment as well as a gradual rise in the panda population there. Head of the reserve's administration, Liu Xingming, said researchers used the system not only to observe the dynamics and health of the giant panda population but also to learn about changes in the natural surroundings of their habitat. "The monitoring system has enabled the systematic, scientific, and intelligent conservation of wildlife, "he added. "However, it is expected to be further improved and optimized in the near future. " 28. What does the underlined word"discern"mean in Paragraph 2? A. Receive. B. Pose. C. Attach. D. Detect. 29. What can be inferred about the new technology from the study? A. It precisely recognizes any species. B. It makes the panda population rise rapidly. C. It contributes to species data collection. D. It understands pandas' facial appearance. 30. What is Liu Xingming's attitude to the facial recognition monitoring system? A. Critical. B. Objective. C. Ambiguous. D. Indifferent. 31. Which of the following can be the best title for the text? A. Panda Facial Recognition Using the Database B. Functions of Facial Recognition Technology C. AI Technology for Better Panda Protection D. A Breakthrough in the Video Monitoring System D Many animals depend upon sound to find food or communicate with one another. These species understandably suffer when loud motorways cut through their habitats. Scientists have long documented the ecological damage caused by noise pollution. It has always been assumed, however, that noise is a problem unique to animals. But a new study by Ali Akbar Ghotbi-Ravandi, a botanist in Tehran, has revealed that plants fell victim to it too. Working with a team of colleagues, Dr Ghotbi-Ravandi grew two species in his lab that are commonly found in urban environments. The plants were grown from seed and allowed to mature for two months in the same space before they were divided into two groups. One group was exposed to 73 decibels(分贝) of traffic noise recorded from a busy motorway in Tehran for 16 hours a day. The other group was left to grow in silence. After 15 days had passed, samples were taken from the youngest fully expanded leaves on every plant in the experiment and studied. Analysis of their leaves revealed that the chemicals which are indicators of stress in plants were found at much higher levels in the species exposed to the traffic noise. The team also found that certain chemicals normally associated with healthy growth in plants were present at significantly reduced levels in the plants exposed to the noise. Even the weight of the freshly-cut leaves differed — leaves from plants exposed to noise consistently weighed less than those from plants grown in silence. Dr Ghotbi-Ravandi’s findings make it clear that, though plants lack ears, the vibrations (震动) generated by the noise of traffic still bothers them enough to cause strong stress responses that are not much different to those that would be found in plants exposed to extreme conditions. The next question is whether all noise pollution affects all species in the same way. The natural world is by no means silent. Whether some plant species have evolved to adapt to the noisy environment, which might one day be collected and transplanted in urban areas, is a mystery worth exploring. 32. What does the author stress in paragraph 1? A. Problems plants have surviving in nature. B. Effects motorways have on animals. C. The importance of sound for animals. D. The influence of noise on plants. 33. How did Dr Ghotbi-Ravandi conduct the experiment? A. By studying plants grown in different conditions. B. By collecting samples from old leaves. C. By making plants grow along motorways. D. By choosing two rare plant species. 34. What can we know from Dr Ghotbi-Ravandi’s experiment? A. Plants exposed to noise were less stressful. B. Changes of chemicals in leaves were unclear. C. Plants grew more slowly when grown in silence. D. Leaves of plants grown in silence weighed more. 35. What might researchers do in the future? A. To improve the adapting ability of plants. B. To develop new species with high survival rate. C. To find plants suitable for noisy urban areas. D. To set more restrictions on urban traffic noise. 第二节(共5小题; 每小题2.5分, 满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文, 从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Learning how to apologize is similar to learning any new behavior. It may feel awkward and may not be polished at first. 36 There are several tips that will help you as you learn how to apologize. First of all, wait until the right time and you are in the right place. Although public apology is often appropriate, discretion (谨慎) should be used. 37 Remember, you will be raising a topic that may recall a bad experience or bad feelings. Be respectful as you approach this task. Be direct and brief in your approach. Acknowledge the fact that injury has occurred and then take responsibility for what happened. Be sincere in expressing your regret and demonstrate your willingness to take ownership of the situation. 38 Even if you follow these steps, be prepared for rejection. Sometimes, the person apologizing has an expectation that the apology will lead to immediate forgiveness and acceptance. 39 If you think of the offense (冒犯) as an emotional bruise (瘀伤), think of the healing process as the color changes we see as a bruise heals. 40 Knowing when to keep one’s mouth shut is a virtue. Keeping quiet may be very difficult, as post-apology listening is not easy. We may hear unpleasant observations from another about our own shortcomings. We may hear the expression of anger. One of the ways we let others know we are truly responsible and accountable for our mistakes is by listening to the other party pour out the feelings associated with our actions. A. Forgiveness and acceptance may take time. B. To give or receive a good apology is an art. C. But with practice, everyone can learn to do it. D. Listening to the response to our apologies is important. E. Most apologies can and should happen in a private setting. F. In other words, avoid excuses and offer to repair the damage. G. Taking responsibility doesn’t mean accepting blame for everything. 第三部分 语言运用(共两节, 满分30分) 第一节(共15小题; 每小题1分, 满分15分) 阅读下面短文, 从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。 Have you ever lost something precious and thought you'd never get it back? At an early age, she was crazy about singing. Whenever she had a chance, she would sing to her heart's content. Her sweet and charming voice tended to get people around attracted to her songs. Living in a small city, I took several odd jobs, determined to do everything in my power to support her. Soon after Jane attended school, her music teacher Mary noticed her talent by chance and volunteered to give her some guidance on how to sing. Jane practiced so hard that before long she made great progress in singing. Unfortunately, at noon one day a year later, Jane was crossing the street when a careless driver knocked her down. She was rushed to the hospital. When I hurried there, the doctor told me that my daughter would probably not stand on her own feet. I froze with shock, feeling as if I had been thrown into a dark world. Weak and dizzy, I was about to fall to the ground when someone took hold of me. It was Mary who got the news and raced here. She comforted me, saying firmly, "Grace, Jane needs you. You must stay calm and strong. "I nodded. Having calmed down, I entered the ward with Mary. That night, Jane recovered her consciousness(知觉) and opened her eyes. Holding her hand, I said,"My dear, everything would be fine. " Mary comforted her gently, "I know you are a strong girl, Jane. Don't worry. We' ll be standing by you. "I was heartbroken to see tears streaming down Jane's cheeks. After two months, we returned home from the hospital. Her teachers and friends frequently visited her. Jane eventually accepted the fact that she would have to get around in a wheelchair. Never did she refer to the subject of singing again. I knew she was a nice and understanding girl, who was afraid that talking about her original dream would upset the two of us. 注意:1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式作答。 One day, however, Mary came with good news. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ When the host announced it was Jane's turn, she was wheeled onto the stage. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 3 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$null 高二英语试题答案 一. 56. following 57. lost 58. a 59. cautiously 60. succeeded 61. "Really?"Jane exclaimed with excitement but immediately lowered her head. She murmured, "I'm afraid I'm not competent in it. "Perceiving her hesitation and lack of confidence, Mary and I said some encouraging words and persuaded her to sign up for it. In the following month, Jane engaged herself wholeheartedly in practicing singing. Under Mary's guidance, she made rapid progress and her confidence was also building up. Finally the big day came when Jane would give her singing performance on the stage. Paragraph 2: When the host announced it was Jane's turn, she was wheeled onto the stage. Nervous as she was, she tried to collect herself and stay focused. As she began to sing, the audience got enchanted with her charming voice. Seconds after her performance, all the audience rose with thunderous applause and cheers. No sooner had Jane been wheeled off the stage than she was surrounded by her excited classmates and teachers with bunches of flowers in hands. She was so moved that she uttered in a trembling voice, "Without your support and encouragement, I wouldn't have made it today."With moist eyes, she threw her arms tightly around Mary and couldn't speak anything at that very moment. It was Jane's persistent efforts and strong faith that paved the way for realizing her dream. 1 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
