His character in the movie finds an abandoned baby on the street and takes him home. These two are both a family and a team, held close by genuine joy in one another’s company. When they’re torn apart, it’s heartbreaking; when they’re reunited, it restores our faith in the order of the universe. Like many of Chaplin’s projects, the production of the film was full of humor. Bicycle Thieves There are few greater filmwatching experiences than Bicycle Thieves. On Antonio’s first day of work, his bicycle is stolen, and he and his young son Bruno set out to get it back, a quest of desperation and need that at first strengthens the fatherson bond, before nearly tearing it apart. What is even more impressive is that the director used no studio sets — all of the settings are reallife locations in Rome. The Night of the Shooting Stars The movie, set in Tuscany, follows a group of citizens who leave their village just before their houses are set to be blown up by the Nazis (纳粹). The story is told through the eyes of sixyearold Cecilia, who sees the event as a great adventure. The movie is a mixture of comedy, fantasy and sorrowful drama. Let There Be Light It is a deeply moving documentary that describes, specifically, the effects of wartime trauma (创伤) on soldiers but also, more generally, the way men who have never been encouraged to talk about their feelings must find a way to do so in order to heal. 1. What type of film might The Kid be? A. History. B. Comedy. C. Romance. D. Science fiction. 2. Which aspect of Bicycle Thieves might impress the audiences most? A. Its filming spots. B. Its special effects. C. Its excellent actors. D. Its exciting plot. 3. What do The Night of the Shooting Stars and Let There Be Light have in common? A. They are of the same type. B. They have elements of comedy. C. They have the same shooting angle. D. They involve the influence of wars. B As a young person, I never thought of myself as a sports enthusiast because I was quite clumsy. But there was one thing I enjoyed: running. It felt like I was soaring (翱翔) through the air. Sadly, this changed when I hurt my knees two years ago. I had to stay in bed for two weeks and even walking a short way was hard for me. I was so upset that I cried as I moved to the car for several days. When therapy (疗法) wasn’t working well for me, I signed up for a hot yoga class for girls, Bikram Yoga to be exact. Starting a yoga practice was truly a blessing because it helped me gain strength in my knees but, most importantly yoga helped me attain a more peaceful state of mind, body and spirit. Since each class was heated to 105°F, every time I stepped foot in the yoga studio, I’d feel a surge of negative thoughts come upon me like a big ocean wave. Some of these thoughts were, in the beginning of my practice, so strong that I walked out of the class several times. However, as the months passed by, I noticed that when I didn’t get swayed away (动摇) by my negative thoughts, I could stay in the hot room for longer. After 3 — 4 months of practicing hot yoga, my arms and legs were beginning to get definition. I also woke up with so much more energy than I had before starting my yoga practice and I gradually started shedding the pounds (减轻体重) from my body. Yoga literally made me feel as if I’d taken a shot of energy drink and just gave me that burst that helped my knees heal and made my overall health better. As I saw some of my classmates do poses that looked appealing to me, I started to think maybe I could do them too. Therefore, yoga helped show me that I have no real limitations physically unless I set those limitations myself through eating junk and thinking in negative and limiting terms. Also, practicing yoga in front of a mirror helped me connect with myself and practicing with a group of people really helped me to feel a greater sense of connection with humanity whereas before I didn’t. Overall, this yoga practice has helped me to see I’m part of a bigger picture in life! 4. What made the author upset according to paragraph 1? A. Her not being sporty. B. Her inability to sleep. C. Her difficulty in walking. D. Her failure to find her car. 5. What difficulty did the author have while attending each yoga class at first? A. She didn’t feel welcome in the yoga studio. B. She was greatly influenced by negative thoughts. C. She failed to control the temperature in the studio. D. She couldn’t bear the pain the knee injury brought. 6. What can we learn about the author from paragraph 4? A. Her wellbeing benefited a lot from yoga. B. Her goal of doing yoga was to lose weight. C. She had a full recovery from her depression. D. Taking energy drinks contributed a lot to health. 7. What is the author’s purpose in writing the passage? A. To share her experience in taking yoga classes. B. To show the vital skills needed to practice yoga. C. To call on the readers to sign up for yoga courses. D. To present the benefits of doing yoga with friends. C I had to say something after reading The Anxious Generation. It is going to sell well, because Jonathan Haidt is telling a scary story about children’s development many parents are led to believe. However, the book’s repeated suggestion that digital technologies are reshaping our children’s brains and causing the epidemic (流行病) of mental illness is unsupported by science. Worse, the rude proposal that social media is to blame might distract us from effectively responding to the real causes of the current mental health crisis in young people. Researchers have searched for the effects suggested by Haidt. The efforts have produced a mix of no, small and mixed associations (联系). When associations over time are found, they suggest not that social media use predicts or causes depression, but that young people who already have mental health problems use such platforms more often or in different ways from their healthy peers. Several analysis and systematic reviews concentrate on the same message. An analysis done in 72 countries shows no measurable associations between well-being and social media globally. Moreover, studies from some authorities find no evidence of intense changes associated with digitaltechnology use. As a psychologist studying children’s and adolescents' mental health, I appreciate parents’ frustration and desire for simple answers. As a parent of adolescents, I would also like to identify a simple source for the pain this generation is reporting. There are, however, no simple answers. The beginning and development of mental disorders are driven by a complex set of genetic and environmental factors. More young people are talking openly about their mental health struggles than ever before. But not enough services are available to address their needs. In the United States, there is, on average, one school psychologist for every 1,119 students. We have a generation in crisis and in desperate need of the best of what science and evidence based solutions can offer. Unfortunately, our time is being spent telling stories that are unsupported by research and that do little to support young people who need, and deserve, more. 8. According to the text, what is presented in The Anxious Generation? A. Scary children's stories. B. Children’s brain disorders. C. Gamechanging digital technologies. D. A wrong cause for young people’s mental illness. 9. What does “the same message” in paragraph 3 refer to? A. Many countries do research on mental health. B. Well-being and social media are closely related. C. The young are faced with the mental health crisis. D. Social media don’t necessarily cause mental illness. 10. Which of the following can be inferred from paragraphs 4 — 5? A. Mental struggles cannot be identified. B. Mental health remains a private issue. C. Psychological support is badly needed. D. Research can't support young people in crisis. 11. The text is intended to________. A. defend the use of social media B. save a generation in mental crisis C. recommend a potential best-seller D. look into the issue of mental health D A recent survey in the US found that Gen Zers and Millennials visit libraries more often than their parents or grandparents. The young love libraries because they are secure, comfortable, free and — as my 11yearold would say — “aesthetic”. This means they look good in the background of an Instagram post or TikTok video. It’s also a great place to meet people. If you’re both young and in a library, chances are you have similar interests. And then, too, there are the books. Gen Zers are turning out to be big readers, especially of paper books. Even though, or perhaps because, they have in their pockets the most limitlessly distracting devices ever invented, many are deliberately (故意地) choosing to pick up a piece of 15thcentury technology instead. They like the fact that books are complete in themselves and require focused attention. There is, sometimes, a sense of nostalgic (怀旧的) cosplay in the way young people read. In New York, for example, the latest TikTokfuelled craze (狂热) is reading with strangers in bars. You have to buy a ticket in advance, and then you all gather and sit in silence for 30 minutes, reading whatever book you’ve brought along. It is like an expensive version of going to the library, except that afterwards you all have a drink and talk about books. To me, reading is a private pleasure, while screens — TV or cinema — are social. I did once, in a group of ambitious parenting, introduce a “family reading hour”, during which my husband and children were pressed to join me at the fireside for some silent reading. It could not have felt more performative if we had dressed up in top hats and oldfashioned clothes. But still, I’d like to praise these young readers — for knowing what is good for them, for seeking out human connection, for finding the beauty and pleasure in old institutions, and for bringing new life to the library. 12. What contributes to the young generation’s preference for libraries? A. High technology. B. Pressure from parents. C. Favorable environment. D. Popularity of social media. 13. Why is the latest TikTokfuelled craze mentioned? A. To introduce a popular culture. B. To highlight an old way of reading. C. To stress the importance of reading in silence. D. To show another cause for youngsters’ reading enthusiasm. 14. Which is the writer’s opinion about reading? A. Reading should be done silently. B. Reading should be enjoyed alone. C. Reading should be a way of parenting. D. Reading should be a way of socializing. 15. Which of the following is the best title for the text? A. Benefits of library reading. B. The young generation’s shared interest. C. The Gen Z’s way to bring new life to libraries. D. Conflicted approaches to reading among teenagers. You probably love watching movies. As a girl of shy and reserved nature, I had to take a fresh start to fit into the sophisticated city life. One sunny day my school announced an exciting event, a talent show for the local food bank. Students were encouraged to showcase their unique talents in front of the public in the city hall on National Day. A buzz of excitement fed the school as everyone began preparing for the big day. Deep down, I felt a spark of curiosity and a desire to participate. However, my self-doubt held me back, “I don’t have any special skills to share.” Days turned into weeks, and the talent show drew closer. I couldn’t shake the upsetting feeling until one day, Emma, one of the most popular girls in my class, came to me while I was helping in the grocery store after class. “How about singing together in the talent show?” She grinned, “I heard you singing a tune, along the way back home. I can’t help following you here.” Gosh, I couldn’t believe my ears. Emma, with personality and popularity, acknowledged my little talent. Since Emma had the world’s prettiest voice, I felt like being favoured by fortune. “You two? The talent show for the food bank?” My mum bent towards us and her face lit up. “A big occasion.” Then a light bulb seemed to go in her head. “Why not practise right now upstairs? I bet you’ll be a perfect match.” Winking at us, she seemed to know we were thinking alike. Emma and I embarked on rehearsing almost every single day after school. We brainstormed, exchanged ideas and rehearsed the scene. As the days rolled by, I was feeling pretty good about our act. But the day before the performance, Emma called that she had an acute stomachache and was not in any shape to perform. Paragraph 1: I was completely knocked out by the news. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: Finally came the big moment. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 1-5CCBAA 6-10BCACA 11-15BCBAB 16-20ACBBA 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 湖南师大附中2024—2025学年度高一第一学期期末考试 英 语 时量:120分钟 满分:150分 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 做题时,先将答案标在试卷上。 How much is the shirt? C 5. B 6. A 7. 根据第一段“Sadly, this changed when I hurt my knees two years ago. I had to stay in bed for two weeks and even walking a short way was hard for me. I was so upset that I cried as I moved to the car for several days.(不幸的是,当我两年前弄伤膝盖时,这种情况发生了变化。我不得不在床上躺了两个星期,甚至走一小段路对我来说都很困难。我心烦意乱,在车里哭了好几天)”可知,行动困难让作者极度沮丧。故选C。 【5题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“Since each class was heated to 105°F, every time I stepped foot in the yoga studio, I’d feel a surge of negative thoughts come upon me like a big ocean wave. Some of these thoughts were, in the beginning of my practice, so strong that I walked out of the class several times.(由于每节课都被加热到105华氏度,每次我踏入瑜伽馆,我都会感到一股消极的想法像一个巨大的海浪一样涌向我。在我刚开始练习的时候,其中一些想法非常强烈,以至于我好几次走出教室)”可知,作者在上瑜伽课时深受消极思想的影响。故选B。 【6题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段“After 3 — 4 months of practicing hot yoga, my arms and legs were beginning to get definition. I also woke up with so much more energy than I had before starting my yoga practice and I gradually started shedding the pounds (减轻体重) from my body. Yoga literally made me feel as if I’d taken a shot of energy drink and just gave me that burst that helped my knees heal and made my overall health better.(经过3到4个月的热瑜伽练习,我的胳膊和腿开始变得清晰。我醒来时也比开始练瑜伽之前有了更多的能量,我逐渐开始从我的身体上减掉体重。瑜伽真的让我觉得好像我喝了一杯能量饮料,给了我爆发,帮助我的膝盖愈合,使我的整体健康状况更好)”可知,从第四段我们可以了解到瑜伽对作者的身体健康有很大好处。故选A。 根据第二段“When therapy (疗法) wasn’t working well for me, I signed up for a hot yoga class for girls, Bikram Yoga to be exact.(当治疗对我不起作用时,我报名参加了一个为女孩开设的热瑜伽课程,确切地说,是比克拉姆瑜伽)”和最后一段中“Overall, this yoga practice has helped me to see I’m part of a bigger picture in life!(总的来说,这种瑜伽练习帮助我看到我是生活中更大图景的一部分!)” A。 C I had to say something after reading The Anxious Generation. A. defend the use of social media B. save a generation in mental crisis C. recommend a potential best-seller D. look into the issue of mental health 【答案】8. D 9. D 10. C 11. 根据第一段中的“However, the book’s repeated suggestion that digital technologies are reshaping our children’s brains and causing the epidemic (流行病) of mental illness is unsupported by science.(然而,书中反复提到数字技术正在重塑我们孩子的大脑,并导致精神疾病的流行,这一观点没有得到科学的支持。)” 根据第二段“When associations over time are found, they suggest not that social media use predicts or causes depression, but that young people who already have mental health problems use such platforms more often or in different ways from their healthy peers.(随着时间的推移,他们发现社交媒体的使用并不是预测或导致抑郁症,而是已经有心理健康问题的年轻人比健康的同龄人更频繁地或以不同的方式使用这些平台。)”,第三段第一句“Several analysis and systematic reviews concentrate on the same message.(几项分析和系统综述都集中在同一个信息上。)”以及第二句“An analysis done in 72 countries shows no measurable associations between well being and social media globally.(一项在72个国家进行的分析显示,全球范围内幸福感和社交媒体之间没有可衡量的关联。)” 根据第四段中的“The beginning and development of mental disorders are driven by a complex set of genetic and environmental factors.(精神障碍的开始和发展是由一系列复杂的遗传和环境因素驱动的。)”以及第五段第一句“More young people are talking openly about their mental health struggles than ever before.(比以往任何时候都多的年轻人公开谈论他们的心理健康问题。)”和第二句“But not enough services are available to address their needs.(但现有的服务不足以满足他们的需求。)” 根据文章第一段中的“However, the book’s repeated suggestion that digital technologies are reshaping our children’s brains and causing the epidemic (流行病) of mental illness is unsupported by science. Worse, the rude proposal that social media is to blame might distract us from effectively responding to the real causes of the current mental health crisis in young people. D A recent survey in the US found that Gen Zers and Millennials visit libraries more often than their parents or grandparents. 14 Which is the writer’s opinion about reading? C 13. D 14. B 15. 根据第一段“The young love libraries because they are secure, comfortable, free and — as my 11yearold would say — “aesthetic”.(年轻人喜欢图书馆,因为它们安全、舒适、免费,而且——正如我11岁的儿子所说——“有美感”)”可知,图书馆舒适的环境是年轻人喜欢图书馆的原因。 根据第三段“There is, sometimes, a sense of nostalgic (怀旧的) cosplay in the way young people read. In New York, for example, the latest TikTokfuelled craze (狂热) is reading with strangers in bars.(有时候,在年轻人的阅读方式中会有一种怀旧的角色扮演感。例如,在纽约,tiktok掀起的最新热潮是在酒吧里和陌生人一起阅读)”可知,TikTokfuelled craze在这里被提及是举例说明年轻人阅读是在追求怀旧感,而追求怀旧感是千禧一代读书热的原因之一。故选D。 【14题详解】 细节理解题。根据第四段“To me, reading is a private pleasure, while screens — TV or cinema — are social.(对我来说,阅读是一种私人乐趣,而屏幕——电视或电影——是社交的)”可知,作者认为阅读是一种个人享受的方式。 根据第一段“A recent survey in the US found that Gen Zers and Millennials visit libraries more often than their parents or grandparents.(美国最近的一项调查发现,Z世代和千禧一代比他们的父母或祖父母更频繁地访问图书馆)”;最后一段“But still, I’d like to praise these young readers — for knowing what is good for them, for seeking out human connection, for finding the beauty and pleasure in old institutions, and for bringing new life to the library.(但是,我还是要赞扬这些年轻的读者——他们知道什么对他们有好处,他们寻求人际关系,他们在旧机构中发现美丽和快乐,他们为图书馆带来了新的生命)”结合文章主要介绍了美国一项调查发现Z世代和千禧一代更喜欢去图书馆,文章分析了他们喜欢去图书馆的原因和新的读书方式,作者认为Z世代给图书馆带来了新的生命。 You probably love watching movies. They can be funny, sad, imaginative, inspiring and so much more! There are so many possibilities and so many great movies to watch! The making of a movie usually begins with a script.___16___The producer is the person who is responsible for coordinating aspects of the film like budge and scheduling. The producer plans how the project will be carried out and he usually starts by hiring a director! ___17___The director will usually identify themes or feelings that he or she wants the movie to give to its audience and then gather all the other people who will be needed, such as costume designers, makeup artists, cameramen, and, of course, actors! Next, shooting (拍摄) begins!___18___Often a director wants to get several “ takes” (一次拍摄的电影镜头) of a scene or moment and usually only a few minutes of the movie are finished in one day’s work.___19___So once filming is finished, the director must then work with editors to piece them all together, deciding which takes to use and adding in some special effects. The entire process from getting the script to editing the scenes generally takes months or even years. Once it is ready, the finished movie is then sent to movie theatres.___20___ A. The actual filming can be a slow process. B. The way that movies are made has changed a lot over time. C. In movies the director’s job is to bring the script to life on camera. D. Scenes are also usually not shot in order. E. People can watch and enjoy it in the theatre F. It gets bought by a movie studio or a producer. G. The producer plays a very important role in making a movie. F 17. C 18. A 19. D 20. 【16题详解】 根据前句“The making of a movie usually begins with a script.(电影的制作通常从剧本开始。)”和后句“The producer is the person who is responsible for coordinating aspects of the film like budge and scheduling.(制片人是负责协调电影各方面的人,比如进度和调度。)” 所以F项“It gets bought by a movie studio or a producer.(它被一个电影工作室或者一个制片人购买。) ”最符合题意。故选F。 【17题详解】 本空位于段首,为本段主题句。根据后文“The director will usually identify themes or feelings that he or she wants the movie to give to its audience and then gather all the other people who will be needed, such as costume designers, makeup artists, cameramen, and, of course, actors!(导演通常会确定他或她想要电影给观众的主题或感觉,然后收集所有其他需要的人,如服装设计师,化妆师,摄影师,当然,还有演员!)”可知,这一段介绍了导演的职责和导演的各项工作,所以C项“In movies the director’s job is to bring the script to life on camera. (在拍电影中,导演的工作是把剧本通过镜头赋予生命。) ”最符合题意。故选C。 【18题详解】 根据前句“Next, shooting (拍摄) begins!(接下来,开始拍摄!)”和后句“Often a director wants to get several “take” (一次拍摄的电影镜头) of a scene or moment and usually only a few minutes of the movie are finished in one day’s work.( 往往一个导演想得到一些一个场景或时刻的“一次拍摄的电影镜头”,或者通常只有几分钟的电影会用一天的工作来完成。)” 所以A项“The actual filming can be a slow process. (真正的电影拍摄是一个缓慢的过程。) ”最符合题意。故选A。 【19题详解】 根据后句“So once filming is finished, the director must then work with editors to piece them all together, deciding which takes to use and adding in some special effects.(因此,一旦拍摄完成,导演必须与编辑一起把它们拼凑在一起,决定哪些需要使用,并添加一些特效。)” 所以D项“Scenes are also usually not shot in order. (镜头往往不是按照顺序来拍摄。) ”最符合题意。故选D。 【20题详解】 根据前句“Once it is ready, the finished movie is then sent to movie theatres.(一旦电影拍摄完成,就会被送到电影院。)” 所以E项“People can watch and enjoy it in the theatre(人们可以在电影院观看或者欣赏电影) ”最符合题意。 On Sunday, 30-year-old Ruth Chepngetich of Kenya set a new world record for the fastest marathon ever run by a woman, finishing in 2 hours, 9 minutes, and 56 seconds. It goes without saying that taking exercises can build up our physical strength. Sports can also help us relax after a period of exhausting work. However, as the saying goes, “there are two sides to everything”, sports are without exception. We may hurt other players or ourselves when participating in sports activities. When I was in middle school, my family moved to Seattle, where my parents started their new business — a small grocery store downstairs my house. As a girl of shy and reserved nature, I had to take a fresh start to fit into the sophisticated city life. One sunny day, my school announced an exciting event, a talent show for the local food bank. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】I was completely knocked out by the news. What should I do? Having prepared for such a long time, I didn’t think of that coming up. Feeling at a loss, I was brainstorming as hard as I could to think of a solution, when a gentle touch on my back brought me back to reality. It was my mum, who looked at me with care and concern. “You have prepared for it enough. You can do it by yourself.” She said after my stumbled explanation. I looked back at her eyes, and a sense of confidence and warmness swelled up in my heart. Yes, I could do it myself. Finally came the big moment. Looking around the audience, I stepped onto the stage, with butterflies in my stomach. My voice trembled at first, but with the melodies flew around, the nervousness was gone with the wind. Emotions filled in my song, I performed as naturally as I spoke every day. I saw my mum, who was looking at me with reassurance and care. It turned out to be a good performance, which helped me conquer my fears and turned me into a new person. 词汇激活 行为类 ① 表演:perform/make a performance/show one’s talents ② 做准备:prepare for/make preparations for ③ 参加:participate in/join in/take part in/be involved in ④ 笑:grin/smile/laugh/giggle/chuckle 情绪类 ① 害羞内向的:shy/reserved/introverted ② 好奇:curious/be full of curiosity ③ 开心的:delighted/overjoyed/content ④ 担忧的:concerned/worried/butterflies in one’s stomach 【点睛】[高分句型1] Having prepared for such a long time, I didn’t think of that coming up.(运用了现在分词作时间状语) [高分句型2] Emotions filled in my song, I performed as naturally as I spoke every day.(运用了独立主格结构) [高分句型3] I saw my mum, who was looking at me with reassurance and care.(运用了who引导的定语从句) 1-5CCBAA 6-10BCACA 11-15BCBAB 16-20ACBBA 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
