第四部分 写作(共两节,满分 40分)
第一节 应用文写作(15分)
Dear Mike,
Knowing that you are interested in sports on high school campus, I’m writing to share with you my favorite
sport.
Among various sports, I have a passion for basketball. There are several reasons accounting for my fondness.
As is widely acknowledged, basketball is an effective way to build up our body, which is essential to our health.
With its graceful and fancy movements, basketball also benefits us by bringing mental and emotional relaxation. In
addition, it’s a team sport that fosters cooperation and competition.
What is your favorite sport? Looking forward to your earliest reply.
Yours,
Li Hua
第二节 读后续写(25分)
The next morning, the usual group of ladies was at the bus stop waiting in their cars.Anxious and hesitant, we
approached the first mom. She listened as we shared our idea with her. When we asked if she would like to
contribute a small amount toward some gifts, she said she would love to and handed us twenty dollars. That was
encouraging and made it easier to approach the next car, and then the next one, each time being met with smiles,
words of encouragement, and generous donations. Tears ran down the cheeks of one mom as she wrote us a cheque
/check for one hundred dollars! With all the contributions collected and counted, Sharon and I decided to shop for
the gifts together.
When we arrived at the department store, we noticed a huge sign in the window, “ONE DAY SALE 40% OFF.”
The money we had collected was going to go even further than we had anticipated. We found some beautiful gifts
for Becky and her daughter. After filling two huge baskets with healthy groceries and tasty treats, we still hadn't
used up all of the money! We were able to purchase a few gift cards for some fun activities that Becky and her
daughter could enjoy together over the holidays. When we dropped them off at her home, Becky was so touched
that she cried tears of gratitude and appreciation. Amiracle is when one plus one equals a thousand.

Text 1 约定见面地点
M: Why don’t you get a drink while I try on these shirts?
W: Actually, I’ll look for the new book in the series I’m reading and meet you there when you’re done.
M: OK, then we’ll grab coffee together.
Text 2 谈论面试者
M: Ms. Powers, what do you think of Katie after the interview?
W: She is suitable for this job. I’ll offer her the position.
Text 3 毕业惜别
M: I can’t believe I’ve actually graduated and I’m leaving tonight. I enjoyed studying with you these years.
W: Same here. And hey, don’t forget to email me once in a while. Let me know how everything goes with you.
Text 4 驾驶考试
W: Did I do well in my driving test?
M: You did a wonderful job. But you messed up on one thing. Your parking wasn’t all that great.
W: I know, but I still get my license, right?
M: You got it.
Text 5 关心他人
W: You look a little pale. I hope everything is going all right.
M: Actually, I am a bag of nerves. I stayed up all last night preparing for a speech in class this morning.
W: You’ve prepared well. Just take a deep breath and try to relax.
Text 6 回复顾客询问
W: Hello?
M: Hello. This is the travel agency returning your call. You left a message about the program you’ve booked,
asking which sports are included in the cost?
W: Yeah, that’s true.
M: Well, there is an extra pay for swimming but if you want to play golf, that’s free for all hotel guests and
horse-riding is also for you at no extra money, which is good because I think you are interested in that.
W: That’s great! Is that all?
M: Yes. Please let me know if I can help you with any other information. Goodbye.
Text 7 询问旅游经历
W: I’ve seen Zibo getting a lot of attention online over the past couple of years. I’m planning to take my kids there
during this summer break to experience the local culture.
M: It was fantastic, even with the intense heat. The locals were so friendly.
W: That’s nice. Did you get to see anything special?
M: We visited the famous Zibo Bookstore, known as one of China’s most beautiful, and it was incredible. We also
tried Zibo barbecue, which was a real treat. Unfortunately, some rain kept us from exploring the Red Leaf Gorge,
but hopefully, we can check it out next time.
W: Hearing you say that, I can’t wait to go myself.
Text 8 购买家具
W: I love all the home decorations you have here. And everything is very reasonably priced.
M: Thanks, Miss. Here at Home Imports, we believe furniture is art, and your house is like a gallery. Did you have
anything specific in mind?
W: I have worked as an interior designer, so I truly appreciate that perspective. And I just moved into a new
apartment. I need sofas, lights, beds, shelves, etc. I have two bedrooms, a bathroom, a large living room, and a
kitchen. Although it’s smaller than my parents’ 4-room house, I wonder if it will be challenging to decorate the
apartment.
M: Not at all. This center has all those items in stock. So, let’s start looking at some items for sale.
5
W: Great. Also, I’ve had a lot of expenses recently with the move. My main concern is keeping the total cost of
these purchases under $20,000. My friends can help carry these items to my home if this saves money on delivery
fees.
M: Don’t worry, Miss. We are committed to meeting the budgetary needs of all our customers.
Text 9 面试自我介绍
W: Good morning, Mr. Dennis.
M: Good morning, Ms. Abraham. I’m here for the marketing director position.
W: Yes, I know. Why don’t you tell me a bit about yourself?
M: I relocated from Illinois to California about five years ago to continue my education. I studied Business
Administration. My dad, who’s a business manager and always sharing his insights, inspired me to get a master’s
degree in the subject.
W: Okay, what do you think is a key quality for this job?
M: Definitely leadership. And I believe I have that quality.
W: Can you give me an example of your leadership?
M: Of course. At university, I was selected as the head of the student council for three straight years. During that
time, I organized multiple events and assisted many students in making improvements.
W: That’s impressive. Now, what would you say are your strengths and weaknesses?
M: I view myself as a devoted individual. Improving team performance is something I take seriously. If a project
needs extra effort, I’m willing to put in the extra hours. As a weakness, I can be rather fixed in my views on certain
subjects.
Text 10 倡议共建绿色校园
Hey there! I’m Richard, and I want to share some cool news about what we’re doing at school to go green.
First up, we’ve got this recycling program. It’s not the usual waste paper and plastic bottle stuff; we’re talking
about getting rid of old phones responsibly when you can’t sell your old one. I mean, you can’t exactly give them to
charity, right? Now, here’s where it gets even more awesome. We’re kicking off this new cafeteria strategy called
the Lunchbox Revolution. We’re removing those plastic wrappers and switch to reusable boxes. It’s all about
cutting down the trash and looking out for Mother Earth.
But wait, there’s more! We’re building an eco-garden in our school yard. Imagine fresh vegetables, all grown
by us. We’ll even use them in the cafeteria. Plus, it’ll look beautiful and may attract insects and birds! Besides,
we’re changing our lighting system. We’ll continue encouraging everyone to turn things off but meanwhile we’re
setting up a super energy-efficient automated system to control our lights and get water-saving bathrooms. Every
bit helps, right? The small steps can make a big impact. Let’s make our school greenest place to be!

Can we live forever? 36
Aging is a fact of life we can’t escape no matter how hard we try, though as a species we’re getting better at lengthening the process. Back in 1950, the global average lifespan was only 45 years old. 37 We can mainly thank the advancement of medicine for letting us live longer, but at what point do we stop growing and start aging?
It’s generally understood that once we reach our late 20s we make the change of developing into aging, which means “the process of growing old”. 38 That seems to be because of the way our species has evolved.
39 So it might make sense that, like any machine, you could live forever if you keep your body well-fueled and maintained. Generally speaking, many evolutionary biologists have concluded that we age simply because the driving force of evolution, known as natural selection, hasn’t selected for fitness and function at an older age.
Of course, humans aren’t alone in this. 40 Many cold-blooded species such as lizards(蜥蜴)keep their fitness and reproductive(繁殖的)abilities and are considered to have insignificantly aging. These animals age very slowly and typically die from non-age related events such as being killed by other animals, disease or natural disasters.
A. What is aging and why do we get older?
B. Is this because cells gradually lose some genetic information?
C. In comparison, now the global average is above 70 years old.
D. You might say that some lifeless machines can last far longer than humans.
E. After that, our bodies become less efficient at maintaining biological systems.
F. A study found that we can stop aging but we have to reach 105 years old first.
G. Other species have evolved a similar reproductive life cycle—but not all of them.

The New Year was fast approaching, and I was beginning to wonder if everything on my to-do list would ever get done. Our out-of-town guests would be arriving shortly, and my children would soon be off for the break. My list of things that needed to be bought, baked, cooked, decorated, or wrapped was a mile long, and I was running out of time. I grabbed a pencil and paper and began to make a plan. With a little luck and some careful planning, I might be able to get it all done.
While sitting at the kitchen table writing out the last of my festival cards, it suddenly occurred to me that one of our school moms was financially struggling and emotionally depressed for some reason. The mom’s name was Becky. Her daughter rode on the school bus with my three children. Several of us moms dropped our kids off at the school bus every morning and collected them after school at the same place. We would chat with each other while we waited for the bus to arrive before and after school.
Becky was kind and gentle, but she seemed shy. She never joined the rest of us while we chatted. I didn’t know what made me think of it, but I couldn’t get Becky out of my mind. My heart broke for her and her daughter, and I wondered what the New Year would be like for them this year.
I felt led to do something that I did not feel at all comfortable doing. I honestly didn’t know where the idea came from, but I knew that I was going to have to do it. After discussing with my best friend Sharon, we decided to ask the moms at the bus stop to contribute some money toward festival gifts for Becky and her daughter.

Can we live forever? 36
Aging is a fact of life we can’t escape no matter how hard we try, though as a species we’re
getting better at lengthening the process. Back in 1950, the global average lifespan was only 45
years old. 37 We can mainly thank the advancement of medicine for letting us live longer,
but at what point do we stop growing and start aging?
It’s generally understood that once we reach our late 20s we make the change of developing
into aging, which means “the process of growing old”. 38 That seems to be because of
the way our species has evolved.
39 So it might make sense that, like any machine, you could live forever if you keep
your body well-fueled and maintained. Generally speaking, many evolutionary biologists have
concluded that we age simply because the driving force of evolution, known as natural selection,
hasn’t selected for fitness and function at an older age.
Of course, humans aren’t alone in this. 40 Many cold-blooded species such as
lizards(蜥蜴)keep their fitness and reproductive(繁殖的)abilities and are considered to have
insignificantly aging. These animals age very slowly and typically die from non-age related events
such as being killed by other animals, disease or natural disasters.

The New Year was fast approaching, and I was beginning to wonder if everything on my
to-do list would ever get done. Our out-of-town guests would be arriving shortly, and my children
would soon be off for the break. My list of things that needed to be bought, baked, cooked,
decorated, or wrapped was a mile long, and I was running out of time. I grabbed a pencil and
paper and began to make a plan. With a little luck and some careful planning, I might be able to
get it all done.
While sitting at the kitchen table writing out the last of my festival cards, it suddenly
occurred to me that one of our school moms was financially struggling and emotionally depressed
for some reason. The mom’s name was Becky. Her daughter rode on the school bus with my three
children. Several of us moms dropped our kids off at the school bus every morning and collected
them after school at the same place. We would chat with each other while we waited for the bus to
arrive before and after school.
Becky was kind and gentle, but she seemed shy. She never joined the rest of us while we
chatted. I didn’t know what made me think of it, but I couldn’t get Becky out of my mind. My
heart broke for her and her daughter, and I wondered what the New Year would be like for them
this year.
I felt led to do something that I did not feel at all comfortable doing. I honestly didn’t know
where the idea came from, but I knew that I was going to have to do it. After discussing with my
best friend Sharon, we decided to ask the moms at the bus stop to contribute some money toward
festival gifts for Becky and her daughter.
