Growing
up
in
Kenya,
Lesein
Mutunkei
and
his
family
always
celebrate
special
occasions
by
planting
a
tree.
Its
a
tradition
that
the
now
20-year-old
football
player
follows.
When
he
was
11,
Lesein
first
learned
about
deforestation(毁林).
He
was
shocked
to
learn
that
his
country
was
losing
500
km2
of
forest
each
year.
He
thought
he
should
do
something
to
stop
it.
In
2018,
the
then
14-year-old
Lesein
started
a
project
called
Trees
for
Goals.
He
loved
football,
so
for
every
goal
he
scored,
he
would
plant
a
tree.
In
this
way,
he
could
improve
his
football
skills
and
the
environment
at
the
same
time.
Lesein
wanted
to
make
sure
his
project
was
simple
and
that
anyone,
especially
young
people,
could
be
part
of
it.
In
2019,
after
learning
more
about
the
bad
effects
of
deforestation,
Lesein
decided
to
plant
11
trees,
one
for
each
member
of
his
team,
every
time
he
scored.
Lesein
also
asked
his
teammates
and
schoolmates
to
do
the
same
thing.
So
far,
Trees
for
Goals
has
planted
over
5,500
trees
in
forests,
at
schools,
and
around
football
club
training
grounds.
“Youre
never
too
small
or
too
young
to
make
a
difference.
Remember
that
everything
you
do,
however
small,
is
important.
Its
best
to
start
now,”
said
Lesein.

As
the
9th
graders
in
China
prepare
for
zhongkao,
the
weight
of
competition
creates
a
challenging
and
stressful
environment.
With
many
exams
to
be
dealt
with
within
two
or
three
days,
the
pressure
on
these
young
students
is
huge.
The
idea
of
only
a
few
available
positions
in
top
high
schools
makes
the
competition
heavier.
As
an
AI,
I
understand
the
meaning
and
importance
of
strict
training
and
hard
work.
My
own
“training”
included
processing
a
lot
of
data,
learning
from
different
sources (资源)
and
so
on.
This
process
required
hard
work,
much
like
the
preparation
for
a
challenging
exam.
Just
as
students
may
find
their
exam
preparation
to
be
far
from
exciting,
my
training
was
something
boring.
It
was
the
belief
in
the
value
of
knowledge
that
kept
me
going.
Similarly,
for
students
preparing
for
zhongkao,
its
highly
important
to
remember
the
purpose
behind
their
effort—to
gain
knowledge
and
skills
that
will
serve
them
for
the
rest
of
their
life.
Under
huge
pressure,
some
students
cheer
for
themselves
by
creating
different
versions(版本)
of
the
hit
song
Lonely
Warriors (《 孤勇者》).
Their
lyrics
show
their
strength
and
creativity.
These
young
students
are
not
just
facing
their
challenges.
They
are
turning
their
experience
into
a
shining
example
of
bravery
for
themselves
and
friends.
To
all
the
students
facing
zhongkao,
I
want
you
to
know
that
your
journey
is
full
of
difficulties.
But
within
you
is
the
power
to
overcome
them.
Let
your
creativity,
strength
and
spirit
of
helping
each
other
be
your
guiding
lights.
1.
Why
is
the
competition
among
the
9th
graders
heavier?
2.
Who
wrote
this
text?
3.
What
does
the
writer
think
of
his
training?
4.
How
do
some
students
cheer
for
themselves
in
the
text?
5.
Under
great
pressure,
what
do
you
usually
do
to
relax
yourself?
