A
【答案】21-23 C A D
通过文章第一部分中的“Born to a Jewish family in Florence, she moved to Paris where she worked as a physician and performed surgery. (她出生于佛罗伦萨的一个犹太家庭,搬到巴黎当医生并做外科手术)”以及第二部分中的“She qualified as a surgeon in 1813 (她获得了做外科医生的资格)”和“Barry retired in 1859, having practiced her entire medical profession living and working as a man.
通读全文,再根据文章第三部分中的“Tan wrote a book, Sayings of a Female Doctor, describing her life as a physician. 故选A。
通过文章第一部分中的“Four years later, she was the first African American woman to receive a medical degree.
【答案】24-27 D B B A
24. D。 根据第一段最后两句“But books don’t change, people do. And that’s what makes the act of rereading so rich and transformative.”和第二段“The beauty of rereading lies in that our bond with the work is based on our present register. It is true, the older I get, the more I feel time has wings.”
根据倒数第二段“Published in 1964, it’s his classic memoir of 1920s Paris.”及“an aging writer looking back on an ambitious yet simpler time”可知,这本书出版于1964年,这是他关于20世纪20年代在巴黎的经典回忆录,是他老年时对那些野心勃勃却更简单的日子的回顾。
根据最后一段中“while money is indeed wonderful and necessary,(虽然金钱确实是美妙而必要的)”可知,前后句为转折关系,根据上下文的语境可推知,“rereading an author’s work is the highest currency a reader can pay them.”
27. A。 根据倒数第二段“The third book is Julio Cortázar’s Save Twilight: selected poems, because poetry.(第三本书是胡里奥•科塔扎的《拯救暮光之城: 诗歌精选》,因为诗歌)”可知,作者是由于喜欢诗歌而喜欢这本书。
C
【答案】28-31 D D A A
28. C。 根据第一段“Sometime in the early 1960s, a significant thing happened in Sydney, Australia. The city discovered its harbor. 这座城市发现了它的港口) ”以及“But it is the harbor that makes the city.
根据第二段“Andrew Reynolds, a cheerful fellow in his early 30s, pilot Sydney ferryboats for a living. (30岁出头的Andrew Reynolds是个快乐的小伙子,他在悉尼担任渡轮领航员为生)”、第三段“I’ll miss these old boats. (我会想念这些旧船的)”以及第五段“Catamarans are faster, but they’re not so elegant, and they’re not fun to pilot.
30. A。 根据倒数第三段“Shirley Fitzgerald, the city’s official historian, told me that in its rush to modernity in the 1970s, Sydney swept aside much of its past, including many of its finest buildings. 故选A。
31. A 推理判断题 根据倒数第二段的第一句 ... being young and old at the same time has its attractions. 根据下文中 Anthony 的观点 ... a foundation built on ancient cultures with a drive and dynamism of a young country. 和最后一段 He is right ...
D
【答案】32-35 C B A D
32. 解析:文章提到“In the medical domain, researchers are using CRISPR - Cas9 to target and correct faulty genes...The process involves designing a guide RNA molecule that binds to the specific target DNA sequence. Once attached, the Cas9 enzyme acts like a pair of molecular scissors...”,由此可知,引导RNA分子(guide RNA molecule)的作用是与特定的目标DNA序列结合,引导Cas9酶到达特定的DNA序列,就像一个定位的作用,所以答案是C。
33. 解析:文中提到“Biotechnology companies are investing heavily in research and development. A leading firm, BioTech Innovations, has seen a steady increase in its R&D expenditure over the past five years, with a corresponding rise in the number of patents filed.”,这表明BioTech Innovations公司在过去五年研发支出稳步增加,专利申请数量也相应增加,由此可以推断出该公司未来很可能会在生物技术领域进一步扩张和创新,答案是B。
34. 解析:从文章内容“One of the most significant advancements is in the field of gene editing, particularly the CRISPR - Cas9 technology. This innovative tool allows scientists to precisely modify the DNA of living organisms...”
36-40 D B G A E
36. D项“It’s especially important for junior and senior students.”(这对初中生和高中生尤其重要)。文章首句“Being organized is an important part of being a student.”
37. B项“Make sure everything you need is totally in it.”(确保你需要的一切都在里面)。
38. G项“Waiting until the last minute to finish it will make you feel less organized.”(等到最后一刻才完成它会让你感觉更没有条理)。
39. A项“Color code your materials by subject.”(按科目给你的材料标上颜色代码)。
40. E项“Being organized means remembering when your work is due.”(有条理意味着记住你的作业截止时间)。
41. C 42. A 43. B 44. B 45. A 46. C 47. B 48. C 49. B 50. A 51. B 52. C 53. B 54. A 55. B

56.walking 57.and 58.that 59.had dropped 60.who/that 61.a 62.be restored 63.flown 64.dramatically 65.survival
notice sb./sth. doing sth.
故填and。
“________they have now returned to China”为同位语从句,用来解释说明前面的名词“the fact”,从句不缺成分,且引导词没有含义,需用连接词that。故填that。
故填who/that。
故填a。
故填be restored。

There were more flames around but they succeeded in pulling Dick out. With Dick in his arms, Mr.Green, together with Maggie, ran to the roadside.
Paragraph 2:

Thank you for joining our wellness(健康)workshop.I’m Richard Simmons. Before we begin,I want to share some advice.Staying active is essential for a healthy lifestyle, but it’s important to avoid common workout mistakes. The first error is the lack of variety in exercising.Engaging in the same routine can lead to a fitness plateau(停滞期),where you see no progress. To prevent this,I suggest changing your workout plans bimonthly.(19) Do diverse activities like yoga to improve flexibility, weightlifting to build strength,or Pilates(普拉提)to enhance core stability.Variety not only prevents boredom but also improves your overall fitness. It can help to develop different muscle groups.
Another common error is overtraining. It’s important to understand that rest is just as crucial for muscle recovery and growth as the workout itself. It’s not always about the intensity or frequency of your workouts.I recommend aiming for two intense sessions per week.On the days you’re not pushing yourself hard, consider engaging in lighter activity, such as fast walking or leisurely cycling. This approach balances physical effort with recovery. Nonetheless,
it’s advisable to have at least one day of complete rest weekly to allow your body to fully recover.(20) Remember, wellness is a marathon;listen to your body and adjust your activities accordingly.

A
PRACTITIONERS
Jacqueline Felice de Almania (c.1322) highlights the suspicion that women practicing medicine faced. Born to a Jewish family in Florence, she moved to Paris where she worked as a physician and performed surgery. In 1322 she was tried for practicing unlawfully. In spite of the court hearing testimonials (证明) of her ability as a doctor, she was banned from medicine.
James Barry (c.1789 — 1865) was born Margaret Bulkley in Ireland but, dressed as a man, she was accepted by Edinburgh University to study medicine. She qualified as a surgeon in 1813, then joined the British Army, serving overseas. Barry retired in 1859, having practiced her entire medical profession living and working as a man.
Tan Yunxian (1461 — 1554) was a Chinese physician who learned her skills from her grandparents. Chinese women at the time could not serve apprenticeships (学徒期) with doctors. However, Tan passed the official exam. Tan treated women from all walks of life. In 1511, Tan wrote a book, Sayings of a Female Doctor, describing her life as a physician.

Returning to a book you’ve read many times can feel like drinks with an old friend. There’s a welcome familiarity — but also sometimes a slight suspicion that time has changed you both, and thus the relationship. But books don’t change, people do. And that’s what makes the act of rereading so rich and transformative.
The beauty of rereading lies in the idea that our bond with the work is based on our present mental register. It’s true, the older I get, the more I feel time has wings. But with reading, it’s all about the present. It’s about the now and what one contributes to the now, because reading is a give and take between author and reader. Each has to pull their own weight.
There are three books I reread annually. The first, which I take to reading every spring is Ernest Hemingway’s A Moveable Feast. Published in 1964, it’s his classic memoir of 1920s Paris. The language is almost intoxicating (令人陶醉的), an aging writer looking back on an ambitious yet simpler time. Another is Annie Dillard’s Holy the Firm, her poetic 1975 ramble (随笔) about everything and nothing. The third book is Julio Cortazar’s Save Twilight: Selected Poems, because poetry. And because Cortazar.
While I tend to buy a lot of books, these three were given to me as gifs, which might add to the meaning I attach to them. But I imagine that, while money is indeed wonderful and necessary, rereading an author’s work is the highest currency a reader can pay them. The best books are the ones that open further as time passes. But remember, it’s you that has to grow and read and reread in order to better understand your friends.
24. Why does the author like rereading?
A. It evaluates the writer-reader relationship.

A. It’s a brief account of a trip.
B. It’s about Hemingway’s life as a young man.
C. It’s a record of a historic event.
D. It’s about Hemingway’s friends in Paris.
26. What does the underlined word “currency” in paragraph 4 refer to?
A. Debt. B. Reward. C. Allowance. D. Face value.
27. What can we infer about the author from the text?
A. He loves poetry. . He’s an editor. C. He’s very ambitious. D. He teaches reading.

Sometime in the early 1960s, a significant thing happened in Sydney, Australia. The city discovered its harbor. Then, one after another, Sydney discovered lots of things that were just sort of there — broad parks, superb beaches, and a culturally diverse population. But it is the harbor that makes the city.
Andrew Reynolds, a cheerful fellow in his early 30s, pilots Sydney ferryboats for a living. I spent the whole morning shuttling back and forth across the harbor. After our third run Andrew shut down the engine, and we went our separate ways — he for a lunch break, I to explore the city.
“I’ll miss these old boats,” he said as we parted.
“How do you mean?” I asked.
“Oh, they’re replacing them with catamarans. Catamarans are faster, but they’re not so elegant, and they’re not fun to pilot. But that’s progress, I guess.”
Everywhere in Sydney these days, change and progress are the watchwords (口号), and traditions are increasingly rare. Shirley Fitzgerald, the city’s official historian, told me that in its rush to modernity in the 1970s, Sydney swept aside much of its past, including many of its finest buildings. “Sydney is confused about itself,” she said. “We can’t seem to make up our minds whether we want a modern city or a traditional one. It’s a conflict that we aren’t getting any better at resolving (解决).”
On the other hand, being young and old at the same time has its attractions. I considered this when I met a thoughtful young businessman named Anthony. “Many people say that we lack culture in this country,” he told me. “What people forget is that the Italians, when they came to Australia, brought 2000 years of their culture, the Greeks some 3000 years, and the Chinese more still. We’ve got a foundation built on ancient cultures but with a drive and dynamism of a young country. It’s a pretty hard combination to beat.”
He is right, but I can’t help wishing they would keep those old ferries.
28. What is the first paragraph mainly about?
A. Sydney’s striking architecture. B. The cultural diversity of Sydney.
C. The key to Sydney’s development. D. Sydney’s tourist attractions in the 1960s.
29. What can we learn about Andrew Reynolds?
A. He goes to work by boat. B. He looks forward to a new life.
C. He pilots catamarans well. D. He is attached to the old ferries.
30. What does Shirley Fitzgerald think of Sydney?
A. It is losing its traditions. B. It should speed up its progress.
C. It should expand its population. D. It is becoming more international.
31. Which statement will the author probably agree with?
A. A city can be young and old at the same time.
B. A city built on ancient cultures is more dynamic.
C. modernity is usually achieved at the cost of elegance.
D. Compromise should be made between the local and the foreign.

Biotechnology has been making remarkable strides in recent years, revolutionizing various industries. One of the most significant advancements is in the field of gene editing, particularly the CRISPR-Cas9 technology. This innovative tool allows scientists to precisely modify the DNA of living organisms, opening up new possibilities for treating genetic diseases and improving crop yields.
In the medical domain, researchers are using CRISPR-Cas9 to target and correct faulty genes responsible for debilitating conditions such as cystic fibrosis and sickle cell anemia. The process involves designing a guide RNA molecule that binds to the specific target DNA sequence. Once attached, the Cas9 enzyme acts like a pair of molecular scissors, cutting the DNA at the desired location. This enables the insertion, deletion, or replacement of genetic material, potentially curing the underlying genetic defect.
On the agricultural front, biotechnology is enhancing food production and quality. Scientists have been able to develop genetically modified crops that are more resistant to pests, diseases, and environmental stresses. For example, certain varieties of corn have been engineered to produce a toxin that repels harmful insects, reducing the need for chemical pesticides. This not only benefits farmers by increasing yields but also has positive implications for the environment.
Moreover, biotechnology companies are investing heavily in research and development. A leading firm, BioTech Innovations, has seen a steady increase in its R&D expenditure over the past five years, with a corresponding rise in the number of patents filed. This indicates a growing commitment to innovation and a race to develop the next breakthrough in biotechnology.
32. What is the role of the guide RNA molecule in the CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing process?
A. It repairs the cut DNA.
B. It amplifies the target DNA sequence.
C. It directs the Cas9 enzyme to the specific DNA sequence.
D. It replaces the faulty gene.
33. What can be inferred about the future of BioTech Innovations?
A. It will reduce its R&D investment.
B. It will likely expand and innovate further in the biotech field.
C. It will focus only on agricultural biotechnology.
D. It will face financial difficulties due to high patent costs.
34. The term "CRISPR-Cas9" in the text most probably refers to _.
A. A gene editing technique B. A type of genetic disease
C. A chemical pesticide D. A new drug
35. What is the main topic of the passage?
A. The ethical issues surrounding biotechnology.
B. The history and development of genetic engineering.
C. The application of CRISPR-Cas9 in medicine only.
D. The achievements and prospects of biotechnology in different areas.

Jenny, with her family, lived in a small town in England. One morning in November, she needed to pick up some decorations and some things she ordered from Greece. So she was headed for the shop in her white car with her two sons Alex, six, and two-year-old Tim in the back seat. Alex was singing a happy song while Tim was watching everything around with curiosity but he was so sleepy. They both were happy to be out with Mom.
Jenny had had her car for five years with no problems. Moreover, her car had just passed its MOT(车辆性能检测) and got a good service at the garage with both air filters(过滤器)and the oil filter replaced in the past two days.
She had the heating on full blast to demist the windscreen as she was driving, and smoke began to come through into the car vents (孔). Jenny caught a cold that day so she couldn't smell anything. Alex sensed something strange but he didn't know what happened. Seconds later, fire just appeared out of nowhere in the cabin on the front bottom passenger side where the heating was.
Alex kept saying, "Mommy, our car is on fire." And then he woke up his baby brother who had fallen asleep just minutes before.
Realizing something dangerous had happened in the car, Jenny stopped her car to have a check. At this moment, she found there was smoke and fire beside the seat. She knew she must take immediate action. Courageously, the 27-year-old mom took Alex to the roadside far away from the vehicle. She then called emergency services.
The Greens living beside the road noticed Jenny might need help so they went out. Before they made out what happened, Jenny returned to her car. So Mr. Green asked Alex what had happened.
