XB1U5 Working the Land---Chemical Versus Organic Farming 教学设计 【教材分析】 本节课的教学内容选自新人教版新课标英语选择性必修一Unit 5Using language 部 分 ， 文 本 主 题 为 evaluate chemical and organic farming 。本课时是整个单元整体教学的第三课时，从单元主题的角度来看，本课时要求学生了解有机农业和化学农业区别，以写作的方式谈谈自己对于耕作方式选择的看法因此，本课时是单元整体教学的输出环节，起着评估学生学习效果的作用。课时类型为读写课。 【文本分析】 文本为说明文，结构为分-总。文章分为三部分，分别介绍了化学农业存在的问题，有机农业常用的天然的方法以及化学农业为什么没有被替代。文本呈现化学农业和有机农业的优缺点。学生在阅读过程中，了解耕作方式的应用及其现状，进行思考，形成自己对耕作方式选择的观点。 【学情分析】 本课时的授课对象为高二年级学生，语言水平中等偏下。通过听说课和阅读课的学习，对于本单元话题较为熟悉。储备了一定的相关背景知识以及表达方式。然而学生在生活经验方面比较欠缺，在进行耕作方式优缺点分析时存在困难。 【学习目标】（Learning Objectives）: By the end of this class, students will be able to: 1. identify the structure of the text by skimming and scanning. 2. figure out the advantages and disadvantages of chemical farming and organic farming by analyzing the text. 3. write an argumentative essay through critical thinking and cooperation . 基于教材分析、学情分析以及学习目标，本节课的教学重难点如下： 1. grasp the structure of the text; 2. figure out the advantages and disadvantages of chemical farming and organic farming; 3. speak out the opinion on chemical farming or organic farming; 4. write an argumentative essay. 【学习活动】（Activities） Lead in What can you see from the pictures? What does he doing? 设计意图：图片导入，引入主题，激活学生本单元所学知识。激发学生学习兴趣。同时，培养学生单元整体意识。 Activity1 Read for main idea and details. 1.Scan the text. Try to divide the text into three parts and summarize the main idea of each part. Come up with three main points to support your opinion, and then add at least one detail to support each main point. 设计意图：讨论分析化学农业和有机农业优缺点。通过小组合作，小组讨论和互动可以促进学生对化学农业和有机农业利弊的深入理解和掌握。学生在小组中学要主动承担任务，提高自主学习和解决问题的能力。通过学生小组内有效沟通，提高他们的表达和倾听能力。 Activity 3 :Writing Use your outline to write a short essay giving your opinion on the topic 设计意图：依据阅读环节形成的思维导图以及小组讨论生成的大纲进行写作。让学生对课堂所学内容和获取的信息进行处理、归纳、总结，整理并内化文本信息。引导学生有逻辑的表达自己的观点，提升思辨能力。 Activity 4 :Use this checklist to help you review your partner's draft.  Do you do a good job persuading you to accept his/her opinion?  Does each paragraph have one main idea?  Does each paragraph have at least one detail to support its main idea?  Do you sequence the points in a logical order?  Does you do a good job of expressing your opinion? Chemical agriculture and organic agriculture play an important part in modern agriculture, about which I am in favour of organic farming. It is obvious that using chemical fertilizers has many disadvantages. The chemicals staying inside the crops can lead to cancer or other illnesses. Besides, the crops grow so fast that they contain little nutrition. Organic foods are becoming increasingly popular with customers. There are many reasons for this. The first reason is that as people are richer, they attach great importance to health. Secondly, organic produce simply uses natural fertilizers, making vegetables and fruit tasty and nutritive. Moreover, the produce grows in clean water and never uses pesticides, which is beneficial to our health. As a saying goes, health is the first wealth, so it is wiser to choose organic food. 设计意图：引导学生积极了解并客观评价同学的观点，提高比较和分析能力。 【Assignment】(作业设计) Finish and revise your draft.
