Confucius was a great thinker, teacher, and politician

There was another wise man named Kong Yu who lived at
the same time as Confucius. Kong Yu worked for the
government in a place called Wey. He was not only clever but
also very humble (谦逊的). He did many important things
for Wey, and when he died, the ruler of Wey wanted everyone
to remember and learn from his love for learning. So, he gave
Kong Yu the title “Duke of Culture”.
People started calling Kong Yu “Kong Wenzi” to show
respect. One of Confucius’ students, Zigong, was from Wey too.

Confucius, “Teacher, Kong Yu is smart, but there must be many
other people who are better than him. Why did he get that
title?”
