I try to get students to recommend songs to me for the broadcast. In the broadcast, I usually announce who recommended the song and then play it for everyone to hear. I give everyone a chance to share themselves through their music, including one tough student of mine, Jerry. This student constantly gets into fights with other students. Most of the other teachers and students push him away. I knew though that he just needed a friend, or at least someone he can connect with. I could tell he was warming up to me over the last year. I told him to think of a song he likes that has some English words in it and that I’ll play it on the broadcast for him. He eventually recommended a song. I actually really liked the song so I put it on the broadcast and made sure to announce his name, so everyone knew that he contributed and recommended such a great song. Needless to say, the boy was excited, and he’s been much happier and focused in English class ever since. While everyone else misunderstood him and pushed him away, I saw right through and knew that he just needed someone who acknowledges (认可) him and gives him a chance. We can’t communicate fluently because of language, but words aren’t needed. You can always sense where you’re at with someone. He recently walked by me and gave me the most genuine (纯真的) smile that I’ve ever seen. My colleagues turned to me and said, “I’ve never seen him smile like that before. How did you get through to him?” I said, “Through just one song.” 24. Why do most teachers and students push Jerry away? A. He hates to study hard. B. He always fights and dislikes study. C. He recommends songs to broadcast. D. He dislikes to make friends with others. 25. What can we learn about Jerry? A. He is really helpful. B. He has a gift for music. C. He needs to be acknowledged. D. He has difficulty in doing lessons. 26. What’s Jerry’s attitude toward the author? A. Thankful. B. Angry. C. Worried. D. Doubtful. 27. What is this text probably? A. A historical event. B. An inspiring story. C. A science fiction. D. A research report. C Dolphins can learn how to hunt from their mothers as we all know. But Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins in Western Australia’s Shark Bay are different. Some may even pick up one clever hunting behavior from their peers (同伴). Studies before had suggested the dolphins there can learn from peers. But a new report is the first to prove the importance of social networks over other factors. Some Shark Bay dolphins also use a more unusual tool-based feeding method. It’s known as shelling. A dolphin will first trap underwater prey (猎物) in the large shell of a sea snail. Then the dolphin puts its sharp beak into the shell’s opening. It can now lift the shell above the water’s surface to shake the contents into its mouth. This brief behavior appears to be rare. From 2007 to 2018, more than 5,000. dolphins in the western gulf of Shark Bay were studied. However, there were only 42 shelling events. Only 19 dolphins exhibited the behavior. The researchers then analyzed the behavior of 310 dolphins that had been seen at least 11 times. These included 15 shellers. They mapped the dolphins’ network of social interactions (互动). Those interactions explained shelling’s spread better than other factors. Just by spending time together and watching each other, they are more likely to pass those behaviors to each other. Those shells are found in particular habitats. And animals that live in those habitats would get those shells. A dolphin’s shelling behavior could also have been influenced during the long time the animal spent with its mother. There is no question that dolphins are smart. They watch each other and see what others do. 28. Which of the following is expressed in paragraph 1? A All dolphins can learn hunting from their peers. B. All sharks can learn hunting from their peers. C. All dolphins can learn hunting from their mothers. D. All sharks can learn hunting from dolphins. 29. What is paragraph 2 mainly about? A. Why dolphins like shelling. B. When dolphins usually hunt. C. Where dolphins usually shell. D. How dolphins shell their preys. 30. How do some Shark Bay dolphins learn hunting from their peers? A. By staying together and watching others. B. By communicating in signals with others. C. By sharing their preys with each other. D. By stealing the preys others have caught. 31. Which word can best describe dolphins according to the text? A. Active. B. Clever. C. Dangerous. D. Dependent. D A new paper in the journal iScience shows that chimpanzees and gorillas can be friends, obviously with advantages for all. Over a 20-year period, researchers, working at the Nouabalé-Ndoki National Park in the Republic of Congo, saw gorillas follow the sound of chimps to a big tree full of ripe fruits, and then co-feed at the same tree. They saw young individuals of both species (物种) playing with each other—interactions that can help their development. And when the two species met each other, researchers saw gorillas and chimps look at the others carefully and then come close to the ones they knew. They even saw chimpanzees beating their chests—a behavior associated with gorillas. Researchers had inferred that connections between the species could perhaps be to avoid predators (捕食者). But the apes’ behavior didn’t show that to be a major factor in their interactions. Instead, better searching for food seemed to be a key upside for both species—sometimes eating at the same tree, sometimes dining nearby on different foods. Not every interaction was warm and friendly. “Interspecific aggression (攻击) was bidirectional,” the study notes — but it never rose to the level of deadly aggression that has happened between chimps and gorillas in Gabon. There is some risk from these social interactions, though: namely, disease transmission. Twenty years ago, an Ebola outbreak killed thousands of gorillas in central Africa. The research makes a case for conservation efforts that protect the habitats where these gorillas and chimpanzees interact. “No longer can we think that an individual ape’s social environment is entirely taken up by members of their own species,” said co-author Jake Funkhouser. “The strength and persistence of social relationships that we observed between apes shows a depth of social awareness and many social transmission pathways that had not been imagined before.” 32. What was found during the long-term research on gorillas and chimps? A. They behave exactly the same way. B. They compete for food and habitats. C. They can develop a good friendship. D. They fight against a common enemy. 33. What may be the main reason for the connection of the two species? A. Better seeking for food resources. B. Hiding from their natural enemies. C. Creating a safe living environment. D. Preventing the loss of their habitats. 34. Why can the interaction of gorillas and chimps be risky? A. They take advantage of each other. B. They spread disease to each other. C They drive each other into a new place. D. They depend on different trees for food. 35. What can be inferred from Jake Funkhouser’s words? A. They almost knew little about the two species. B. They will continue to observe ape species closely. C. They have found a close tie between the two species. D. They can tell the two species apart much more easily. As you start a new life in school, maybe you’ll find you don’t have enough time for the study. My son was little, and it was getting close to time to have a little sleep, so I was rushing through the aisles trying to avoid a failure. I remember feeling a sense of achievement as I got him into the car without any tears. Then I went to start the car and realized my keys were gone. After a few minutes of checking around, I realized that I must have locked them in the trunk with my bag. I wasn’t sure what to do, so I took my son out of his car seat and went back inside the store with my cart still full of groceries. I had to use their phones to call my husband for the spare key because my phone was in the bag I had locked in the trunk. After multiple calls and messages with no answer, I was getting discouraged. My son was tired and began to cry. I was tired because of a sleepless night that all mums go through-when their kids are teething. When he went into full-on crying, I felt the tears come down my face, too. An employee at the store tapped me on the shoulder and asked me to come with her. I was panicked for a moment, thinking that I was going to be scolded and thrown into the storage area to keep us quiet. The employee, whose name I would later find out was Kelly, took me, to my surprise, to the Starbucks cafe that was inside the store. She asked me if I drank coffee. When I said yes, she walked over to the counter and came back with one for me. She said that it looked like I was having one of those days and that, as a mum, she had them, too. I told her how stupid I felt locking my keys in the car, and she assured me it happened to a lot of people. As we talked, my son settled into a sound sleep in my arms. After about fifteen minutes, she said her break was over. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ After I got home that day, I kept thinking about what Kelly had done for me. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $第一部分听力。 I've heard that you are going to amErica tomorrow. What they really mean is that they don't remember their dreams, or they don't think their dreams are important. The other day, someone named Davis came to me and said that he used to be a great dreamer, but suddenly he stopped having dreams. I asked him what had happened. IT turned out that his brother died by heart attack generally when there was some frightening event, and dreaming about IT was too terrible. People prefer not to dream about IT. Actually, the worst thing you can do is stop dreaming, because that means that the bad experience would be too painful to even appear in dreams. As long as you dream about IT and even the dream is frightening, your mind is working on IT. My personal opinion about what dreams do is that they help us deal with our problems when a person is hurt deep inside, when a person is seriously ill, or when a person has been really sad. If people turn off their dreams totally IT means they don't allow themselves to even think about IT. IT appears that everyone dreams mostly when people say that they never dream. Actually, the worst thing you can do is stop dreaming, because IT means that the bad experience would be too painful to even appear in dreams. When is the man’s flight leaving for America? 24. B 25. C 26. A 27. A. All dolphins can learn hunting from their peers. A. Active. B. Clever. C. Dangerous. D. Dependent. C 29. D 30. A 31. 根据第一段“Dolphins can learn how to hunt from their mothers as we all know. But Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins in Western Australia’s Shark Bay are different. Some may even pick up one clever hunting behavior from their peers.(我们都知道,海豚可以从母亲那里学习如何捕猎。但西澳大利亚鲨鱼湾的印太瓶鼻海豚却不同。有些甚至可能从同伴那里学到一种聪明的捕猎行为。)”可知,第一段主要表达的是所有的海豚都能从母亲那里学习捕猎。故选C。 【29题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第二段“Some Shark Bay dolphins also use a more unusual tool-based feeding method. It’s known as shelling. A dolphin will first trap underwater prey in the large shell of a sea snail. Then the dolphin puts its sharp beak into the shell’s opening. It can now lift the shell above the water’s surface to shake the contents into its mouth.(鲨鱼湾的一些海豚还使用一种更不寻常的基于工具的觅食方法。这被称为剥壳。海豚会先把水下的猎物困在海螺的大壳里。然后海豚把它锋利的喙伸进壳的开口。现在它可以把壳举到水面以上,把里面的东西摇进嘴里。)”可知,第二段主要讲的是海豚如何剥去猎物的壳。故选D。 【30题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“Just by spending time together and watching each other, they are more likely to pass those behaviors to each other.(仅仅通过花时间在一起,互相观察,它们就更有可能把这些行为传递给彼此。)” 故选A。 根据第一段“Some may even pick up one clever hunting behavior from their peers.(有些甚至可能从同伴那里学到一种聪明的捕猎行为。)”和最后一段“There is no question that dolphins are smart.(毫无疑问,海豚是聪明的。)” B。 D A new paper in the journal iScience shows that chimpanzees and gorillas can be friends, obviously with advantages for all. C 33. A 34. B 35. 根据第二段提到“Over a 20-year period, researchers, working at the Nouabalé-Ndoki National Park in the Republic of Congo, saw gorillas follow the sound of chimps to a big tree full of ripe fruits, and then co-feed at the same tree. They saw young individuals of both species (物种) playing with each other — interactions that can help their development. And when the two species met each other, researchers saw gorillas and chimps look at the others carefully and then come close to the ones they knew. But the apes’ behavior didn’t show that to be a major factor in their interactions. Instead, better searching for food seemed to be a key upside for both species—sometimes eating at the same tree, sometimes dining nearby on different foods.(研究人员推断,物种之间的联系可能是为了避免捕食者。但猿类的行为并没有表明这是它们互动中的一个主要因素。相反,更好地寻找食物似乎是这两个物种的一个关键优势——有时在同一棵树上进食,有时在附近吃不同的食物。)”可知,这两个物种联系在一起的主要原因可能是更好地寻找食物资源。故选A。 根据第四段“There is some risk from these social interactions, though: namely, disease transmission. Twenty years ago, an Ebola outbreak killed thousands of gorillas in central Africa.(不过,这些社交互动也存在一些风险:即疾病传播。20年前,埃博拉病毒爆发,导致中非数千只大猩猩死亡。)”可知,大猩猩和黑猩猩的互动会有风险是因为它们互相传播疾病。故选B。 【35题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“The strength and persistence of social relationships that we observed between apes shows a depth of social awareness and many social transmission pathways that had not been imagined before.(我们观察到猿类之间社会关系的强度和持久性表明了一种深层次的社会意识,以及许多以前从未想象过的社会传播途径。)” As you start a new life in school, maybe you’ll find you don’t have enough time for the study. My son was little and it was getting close to time to have a little sleep, so I was rushing through the aisles trying to avoid a failure. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: After about fifteen minutes, she said her break was over. Kelly had to get back to work again. Before leaving, she asked me to contact my husband again using her phone and said if I couldn’t get through, she would call someone to come out and get the trunk open. Also, my meat and dairy groceries would be replaced with new ones free of charge. Thankfully, this time my husband answered my phone and came to my assistance as soon as possible. After I got home that day, I kept thinking about what Kelly had done for me. Wanting to do something for her in return, I went to the store with a small gift several days later and told her how grateful I was. She would accept nothing in return and just told me to pay it forward. The store has since closed, and I never saw her again, but I never have forgotten the kindness she showed me that day. I am so glad I locked my keys in the car that day. 词汇激活 行为类 联系:contact/ get in touch with 代替:replace/take the place of 免费:free of charge /for free 情绪类 高兴:glad /delighted 感谢:grateful /thankful 【点睛】[高分句型1] Before leaving, she asked me to contact my husband again using her phone and said if I couldn’t get through, she would call someone to come out and get the trunk open. (运用了if引导条件状语从句) [高分句型2] Wanting to do something for her in return, I went to the store with a small gift several days later and told her how grateful I was.
