C.He enjoyed physical challenges even more. 【答案】17.A 18.C 19.C 20.A 【原文】M: As a young child, I always enjoyed physical challenges more than mental ones. I liked to run and build swings. At that stage I hadn’t yet learned to climb or swim, but I would have loved to try those too. One day we had a physical education class at school. We did the long jump and handstands, but it was when I tried to do a forward roll that disaster struck. Somehow, I twisted my neck in an extremely painful way. I screamed loudly and the teachers were very concerned. An ambulance was called and I was taken to hospital. The doctors fitted me with a collar and I was told to avoid exercise and stay away from school for eight weeks. At first, I was very bored. Having to keep still all day was no fun. So I started to read. I looked at books on the shelf at home. I wasn’t interested in love stories — I avoided those — but crime and adventure did appeal to me. During those eight weeks I developed a lifelong love of reading. When my collar was removed, the doctors told me not to exercise for another four weeks. Instead of being disappointed, I was happy to devote more time to my new love — reading. A Since 2005, the Beverley Puppet Festival has welcomed thousands of audience members to experience the unique and inclusive world of puppetry. With medication and therapy(疗法), and under the guidance of parents, Tait began exploring activities that might help her find a path through the daily anxiety attacks and depression. Gardening, drawing, knitting were among the things she tried. But nothing quite seemed to last long enough or give her a sense of hope or delight. A turning point came when his father Alex clipped a simple bread recipe from a magazine. When he read it, Tait felt excited and got stuck in. The effect was nothing short of magic. “Baking filled my time and put me in a really calm state, but it also gave me a huge sense of purpose when all I really felt like was a burden,” she says. Tait’s newfound zeal rapidly capped her family’s appetite for bread, so she began gifting her bread to lucky locals in her home town. Word quickly spread and the free bread turned into a paid-for subscription service. Alex quit his job as a tutor to become his daughter’s business partner, and after opening several successful pop-up stores(快闪店), the pair drew on their global social media following to crowd fund a brick-and-mortar store in 2019. It was an instant success, selling out daily and she wrote a book. However, ensuring long-term viability(生存能力) would have meant scaling up in a way that neither father nor daughter liked. So instead, after four years of 5 am starts and 12- hour days, they shut up shop last summer. Tait has since scaled back to basics, selling her bakes at twice-weekly pop-up store. She runs the Orange Bakery from a Watlington’s abandoned factory, which is also the center for Breaducating Britain. So far they have distributed around 40,000 free bread kits through more than 200 different organisations to schools, prisons and individuals. 24.Why did Tait try painting at first? A.To develop her interest. B.To explore her potentials. C.To deal with her mental problems. D.To achieve her childhood dream. 25.What does the underlined word “zeal” in paragraph 4 probably mean? A.Fact. B.Passion. C.Aim. D.Element. 26.What happened to Tait after four years of hard work? A.She closed up her shop. B.She expanded her store. C.She invested in many organisations. D.She opened several pop-up shops. 27.Which of the following can best describe Tait? A.Modest and sociable. B.Charitable and honest. C.Talented and hard-working. D.Generous and helpful. 根据首段中“With medication and therapy, and under the guidance of parents, Tait began exploring activities that might help her find a path through the daily anxiety attacks and depression. Gardening, drawing, knitting were among the things she tried.(通过药物和治疗,在父母的指导下,泰特开始探索可能帮助她找到摆脱日常焦虑症和抑郁症的方法的活动。园艺、绘画、编织都是她尝试过的事情。)”可知泰特尝试绘画是为了帮助缓解自己每天焦虑和抑郁的情绪。故选C。 25.词句猜测题。根据第三段““Baking filled my time and put me in a really calm state, but it also gave me a huge sense of purpose when all I really felt like was a burden,” she says.(“烘焙占据了我的时间,让我处于一种非常平静的状态,但它也在我觉得有负担的时候给了我一种巨大的使命感,”她说)”可知,泰特开始对烘焙感兴趣,这让她处于一种非常平静的状态,这说明她喜欢烘焙,结合后划线单词所在句子“Tait’s newfound zeal rapidly capped her family’s appetite for bread, so she began gifting her bread to lucky locals in her home town.(泰特新发现的zeal很快限制了她家人对面包的胃口,因此她开始将面包赠送给家乡的幸运当地人。)” 根据倒数第二段中“So instead, after four years of 5 am starts and 12-hour days, they shut up shop last summer.(因此,在四年早上 5 点开始工作、每天工作 12 小时之后,他们在去年夏天关门了)”可知,在四年后泰特关闭了他们的面包店。故选A。 27. 根据末段内容“Tait has since scaled back to basics, selling her bakes at twice-weekly pop-up store. She runs the Orange Bakery from a Watlington’s abandoned factory, which is also the center for Breaducating Britain. So far they have distributed around 40,000 free bread kits through more than 200 different organisations to schools, prisons and individuals.(此后,泰特开始回归基本生活,在每周两次的快闪店里出售她的烘焙食品。她在沃特灵顿的一家废弃工厂经营橙色面包店,该工厂也是英国面包教育的中心。到目前为止,他们已通过 200 多个不同组织向学校、监狱和个人分发了约 40000 个免费面包)”可知,泰特把面包送给学校、监狱等地方,因此推断她是慷慨并且爱帮助他人的。故选D。 C I’m a professor of rhetoric and literature. Whether it is global literature or historic literature, or pictographs (象形文字), I teach all of them. Literature is the chronicle (编年史) of the human condition over time. It shows exactly how people advance with technology and awareness of social issues. It can cultivate people with the good character and affect their lives. Why do we find pictograms or cave paintings with animals that lived in the area? They are the communication of location information during the nomadic eras. That is fairly nice of one group of people to tell the next tribe what to eat. Why do we have cave paintings of Nessie or other horrible monsters? Pick any piece of the cave paintings from across the globe and ask whether it is designed to share with others and warn others, and you’ll know it shows the prowess of the hunters or their honor to others. All of these appear in different ways during different times; they are all the foundational elements, including some big events. And humans naturally move toward discovery. We look to space or observe animals and plants to better understand ourselves and the world we are living in. We write down what we have discovered, which becomes part of literature. On the Origin of Species is foundational, biological literature but it’s also literature. We find ourselves by reading classic literary works and literature can offer heartbreak or hope or both or give us a window into all of life. Functionally, think of those famous and able generals, who were written into the global history because they had not only read but also understood The Art of War to the point of being able to apply it with ease. Anyhow, literature benefits us. If you are able to read it and understand it, it becomes a part of you. And you are likely to apply those emotions and intelligence in daily life without realizing it. 28.Which is excluded from the category of literature according to the author? A.The Historical Records. B.On the Origin of Species. C.Music records. D.Cave paintings. 29.What is one of the purposes of ancient people using these pictograms? A.To show what food they had eaten. B.To point out what nomadic eras are. C.To tell hunters how to hunt animals. D.To indicate where the animals were. 30.What does the underlined word “prowess” in Paragraph 2 refer to? A.Tool or weapon. B.Harvest or capture. C.Bravery or fearlessness. D.Skill or technology. 31.What does the author try to show through the example of those generals? A.Literature helps people become successful. B.Generals like reading literature. C.Literature affects our emotions. D.Literature has something to do with wars. 根据第一段“Whether it is global literature or historic literature, or pictographs (象形文字), I teach all of them. Literature is the chronicle (编年史) of the human condition over time. (无论是世界文学、历史文学,还是象形文字,我都教。文学是人类历史状况的编年史。)”以及第二段“Why do we find pictograms or cave paintings with animals that lived in the area? They are the communication of location information during the nomadic eras. (为什么我们会在这个地区发现动物的象形文字或洞穴壁画?它们是游牧时代位置信息的交流工具。)”可知,音乐唱片被排除在文学的范畴之外。故选C。 29.细节理解题。根据第二段“Why do we find pictograms or cave paintings with animals that lived in the area? They are the communication of location information during the nomadic eras. That is fairly nice of one group of people to tell the next tribe what to eat. (为什么我们会在这个地区发现动物的象形文字或洞穴壁画?它们是游牧时代位置信息的交流工具。一群人告诉下一个部落有什么食物,这是相当不错的。)”可知,古人使用这些象形文字的目的之一是指出动物在哪里。故选D。 30.词句猜测题。根据第二段“Why do we have cave paintings of Nessie or other horrible monsters? (为什么我们有尼斯湖水怪或其他可怕怪物的洞穴壁画?)”以及划线词上文“Pick any piece of the cave paintings from across the globe and ask whether it is designed to share with others and warn others, and you’ll know it shows the (随便挑一幅来自世界各地的洞穴壁画,问问它的设计目的是为了与他人分享,还是为了警告他人,你就会知道,它展示了)”和后文“of the hunters”可知,洞穴壁画有可怕的怪物,洞穴壁画的目的是为了警告他人,体现了猎人的勇敢或无畏精神。 根据最后一段“Functionally, think of those famous and able generals, who were written into the global history because they had not only read but also understood The Art of War to the point of being able to apply it with ease. Anyhow, literature benefits us. (从功能上来说,想想那些著名的、有能力的将军,他们被写进了世界历史,因为他们不仅读过《孙子兵法》,而且理解《孙子兵法》,以至于能够轻松地运用它。无论如何,文学对我们有益。)”可知,作者试图通过这些将军的例子来说明文学帮助人们成功。故选A。 D Here on the side of Mount Everest, Kaji Bista has spent a decade keeping a lonely watch over a largely abandoned scientific laboratory. He expects the world’s highest research station to once again come to life. The laboratory opened in 1990 and for more than 2 decades, it served as a special spot for scientists seeking to keep an eye on changing conditions on Earth’s tallest mountain. In 2015, shifting scientific priorities cost the lab most of its funding, and its 15-person staff were reduced to just Bista. Now, the tall, soft-spoken man spends 10 months a year working to keep the aging facility functioning. “My emotional attachment to the lab... keeps me going,” he said. Bista began working at the station in 2006. He states that it was originally established to settle a disagreement between Italian and U. S. mountaineers over whether Everest or K2 was the world’s tallest. Researchers used GPS measurements to prove Everest was taller, as the Italian climbers maintained. That work ultimately evolved into a plan, backed by the National Research Council of Italy (CNR) and the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), to develop a facility that could do much more. Climate scientist Sudeep Thakuri says that he is grateful the lab has played an important role in not only his own studies of the region’s glaciers (冰川), but also in studies of regional biodiversity, the long-range transport of pollutants, etc. In response to the appeal of scientists, Suresh Kumar Dhungel, a senior scientist at NAST, reports discussions with CNR officials have recently resulted in moves to restore labaratory operations. And Agostino Da Polenza, president of Ev-K2-CNR, says he is working to regenerate lab programs. And his group plans to launch a crowdfunding campaign later to raise more money. Bista does his best to repair those aging instruments. “When I face any problem, I turn to experts in Italy and then act accordingly,” he said. But sometimes it can take months for spare parts to arrive. “I am helpless in this case,” he said. Yet, Bista hasn’t lost hope. “This laboratory will soon be renovated (整修), ” he said. This is my belief. 32.What can we infer about the research station? A.It has set off a disagreement. B.It has been fully functioning. C.It involves high repair costs. D.It has been lightly regarded for years. 33.What was the station initially intended for? A.Conducting a geographic survey. B.Providing accommodation for mountain climbers. C.Studying the effect of human activities on Everest. D.Establishing a barmonious relationship between Italy and America. 34.What challenge is Bista encountering in his work? A.Lack of timely guidance from professionals. B.Pressure from administrative management. C.Conflicts between research team members. D.Delays in transporting the repair parts. 35.Which can be a suitable title for the text? A.Mountaineers fuel debate over Everest B.Scientists make the most of a lab on Everest C.A lone caretaker struggles to keep a lab alive D.Scientific research on Everest matters a lot 【答案】32.D 33.A 34.D 35.C 【导语】本文是一篇新闻报道。 根据文章第二段“In 2015, shifting scientific priorities cost the lab most of its funding, and its 15-person staff were reduced to just Bista. Now, the tall, soft-spoken man spends 10 months a year working to keep the aging facility functioning. “My emotional attachment to the lab... keeps me going,” he said.(2015 年,科研重点的转移致使该实验室失去了大部分资金,原本 15 人的工作人员队伍也只剩下比斯塔一人。如今,这位身材高大、说话温和的男子每年有 10 个月的时间都在努力维持这座日渐老化的设施正常运转。“我对实验室的情感羁绊……支撑着我继续坚持下去,” 他说道)”可推测,这个科学实验室多年来它没有受到足够重视。故选D。 33.细节理解题。根据文章第三段“He states that it was originally established to settle a disagreement between Italian and U. S. mountaineers over whether Everest or K2 was the world’s tallest. Researchers used GPS measurements to prove Everest was taller, as the Italian climbers maintained.(他表示,实验室最初建立是为了解决意大利和美国登山者之间关于珠穆朗玛峰和乔戈里峰(K2)究竟哪座山才是世界最高峰的争议。研究人员利用全球定位系统(GPS)测量证明了珠峰更高,正如意大利登山者所坚持的那样)”可知,这个实验室最初建立是为了解决意大利和美国登山者之间关于珠穆朗玛峰和乔戈里峰(K2)究竟哪座山才是世界最高峰的争议,研究人员利用全球定位系统(GPS)测量来证明珠峰更高,也就是最初是用于进行地理方面的相关调查。故选A。 34. 根据文章最后一段“Bista does his best to repair those aging instruments. “When I face any problem, I turn to experts in Italy and then act accordingly,” he said.( Bista竭尽全力修理那些老化的仪器设备。 C“A lone caretaker struggles to keep a lab alive(一位孤独的守护者努力让实验室存续下去)”准确概括了文章核心内容。 Many people treat “life” as something that happens to them. They think they are the victims. 36 However, there are those who are clear on their goals. When something goes wrong, they are the first to admit where they went wrong. So how can you live a life by design instead of by default (默认)? Set goals and actually achieve them 37 “New Year’s Resolutions” are the worst (or best) example of this. It’s easy to set goals, but very few people follow through with them to the end. People who live by design practice the habit of setting goals and actually achieving them. This constant practice is what allows them to set bigger and bigger goals and see them through to completion. Surround yourself with people you want to be like Choose your friends carefully. As they say, “ 38 ” Make sure that the individuals who occupy your life and time share your values. Ideally, these people should even be a little bit ahead of you, forcing you to stretch and continue to grow in the direction you’d like to go. Don’t be afraid to go your own way When you go your own way, everyone will tell you that you’re wrong at first. But when they find actually they are wrong, they will all come back around. 39 And they will ask you how you did it. Practice discipline In order to get to where you know you can go, you have to say “no” a hundred times more than you say the word “yes”. 40 And the only way to do so is to have a strong sense of self-awareness and discipline. A.Everybody sets goals. B.They create the life they want to live. C.Some people just don’t know when to quit. D.They will see the life you’ve built for yourself. Inspired by the workings of the brain, professor John Hopfield and Geoffrey Hinton built artificial neural (神经的) networks that store and retrieve memories like the human brain, and learn from information 56 (feed) into them. Hinton, 76, often referred to as “the godfather of AI”, made headlines last year 57 he quit Google and warned about the dangers of machines outsmarting humans. The scientists’ pioneering work demonstrated 58 computer programs that draw on neural networks and statistics could form the basis for an entire field, which paved the way for swift and accurate language translation, facial 59 (recognize) systems, and the generative AI. Hopfield, 91, 60 (honour) for building “an associative memory that can store and reconstruct images and other types of patterns in data”, while Hinton invented a method that can “independently discover properties in data”, 61 important feature of the large artificial neural networks 62 use today. Having technology 63 (smart) than humans would be “wonderful in many respects”, Hinton said, leading to 64 (substance) improvements in healthcare, better digital assistants, and productivity. “But we also have to worry about a number of possible bad 65 (consequence), particularly the threat of these things getting out of control,” he added. 56.fed 57.when 58.that 59.recognition 60.was honoured 61.an 62.in 63.smarter 64.substantial 65.consequences 【导语】这是一篇新闻报道,文章主要介绍两位为现代人工智能奠定基础的研究人员John Hopfield和Geoffrey Hinton被授予2024年诺贝尔物理学奖。 56. in use“在使用中”,故填in。 63. Dear Smith, _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Yours, Li Hua 【答案】One possible version: Dear Smith, Imagine my delight when I read your letter! I was by myself and in a hurry, trying to make it to Hays to take a conference call. I had just passed a group of cars when my motorbike began to wobble (摇晃). I did what I had been taught to do, but in vain. Later, the handlebars of my motorbike turned sharply enough to hit the gas tank. Needless to say, the motorbike and I went down. I don’t remember hitting the highway, but I remember rolling. According to the state police who responded, I rolled 475 feet from where the motorbike hit the road. When I stopped rolling, I was face down. The white stripe (条纹) marking the left side of the road was by my left hand. I was still in the road. I heard the cars I had just passed approaching. Afraid cars would be avoiding the motorbike parts and not see me, I rolled over one more time and off the road. The first car slowed as it passed me. Before it even stopped, the passenger was out the door running back to me. She had already called 911 and was talking to the operator as she got to me. She was calm as she relayed that I was awake and talking. Shortly after that, the next two cars stopped. While some helped take care of me, others gathered my possessions and motorbike parts off the highway. These people stood in the very hot Kansas sun talking to me and keeping me calm. When I had too much sun on my raw arms, they found a blanket and umbrella. They stood in the sun making shade for me. A tow truck (牵引车) came and pulled my motorbike off. As I heard the ambulance approach and realized my leathers would be cut off, I panicked and tried to get up. These strangers calmed me down and figured out how to unzip (拉开拉链) my leather overalls without allowing me to move so the ambulance attendants wouldn’t cut them off. The kindness of ordinary people didn’t stop there. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I was deeply moved by their kindness. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】参考范文 The kindness of ordinary people didn’t stop there. At about 10 p.m., I was in the hospital when I realized I had left my phone and purse in the saddlebags of the motorbike. My son called the owner of the tow truck company and explained I really had to have the contents of my saddlebags that night. This kind man left his house, drove back to his yard, and placed the contents of the motorbike where my son would be able to get them. It took him almost an hour of his family time. He didn’t have to. He could have said no. I was deeply moved by their kindness. People stopped what they were doing and delayed where they were going to help a stranger. They didn’t have to. They got no recognition. They got no thanks. I don’t even know their names. I was and I am lifted up knowing that some people will take care of a stranger when the stranger can’t care for themselves. What they had done greatly comforted and inspired me. I made up my mind that I would pay their kindness forward whenever it was possible. 词汇激活: 行为类: ①意识到:realize (that)/become aware that ②激励:inspire/motivate ③下定决心:make up one’s mind that/be determined that 情绪类: ①感谢:thanks/gratitude ②安慰,抚慰:comfort/console 【点睛】[高分句型1] My son called the owner of the tow truck company and explained I really had to have the contents of my saddlebags that night. C I’m a professor of rhetoric and literature. D Here on the side of Mount Everest, Kaji Bista has spent a decade keeping a lonely watch over a largely abandoned scientific laboratory. A.Mountaineers fuel debate over Everest B.Scientists make the most of a lab on Everest C.A lone caretaker struggles to keep a lab alive D.Scientific research on Everest matters a lot Many people treat “life” as something that happens to them. E.You must be faithful to yourself and your goal. F.When things go wrong, they think it’s someone else’s fault. G.You are a reflection of those who you spend the most time with. I was driving up 75 when I saw the traffic police in the turnout (避车道). Dear Smith, _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Yours, Li Hua 第二节(满分25分) 67. My story took place in Kansas on Highway 70. It was September 4th, 2014, and I was riding a motorcycle. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 试题 第11页(共12页) 试题 第12页(共12页) 试题 第9页(共12页) 试题 第10页(共12页) 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$■■■■ ■■a■ 2025届高三英语高考模拟风向卷(新高考八省)04 h在各速日岩积≤线有伟》,0用国色过区苦表无教 英语·答题卡 宽周都分好作(共两节,海公每分) 第一节(情分15分) 峡考 账条形药区 Dear Srratt. 1A1B1Ic Yours. C I’m a professor of rhetoric and literature. D Here on the side of Mount Everest, Kaji Bista has spent a decade keeping a lonely watch over a largely abandoned scientific laboratory. A.Mountaineers fuel debate over Everest B.Scientists make the most of a lab on Everest C.A lone caretaker struggles to keep a lab alive D.Scientific research on Everest matters a lot Many people treat “life” as something that happens to them. E.You must be faithful to yourself and your goal. F.When things go wrong, they think it’s someone else’s fault. G.You are a reflection of those who you spend the most time with. I was driving up 75 when I saw the traffic police in the turnout (避车道). ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 试卷第1页,共3页 试卷第1页,共3页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
