W: What’s been hard about being an Indiana basketball player? M: Well, the training is very competitive — weightlifting and running every day. It’s not like high school. M: I think we are all different. George is from Britain. Chris and Leo are from Australia. I’m from France. And the rest are Americans. But I get along with everybody. Can you share the inspiration behind the painting, “Conquista”? M: Thanks. My art reflects my life in China. Living here so long, it’s natural my art is influenced by my experiences. W: How has your background from Florence affected your art? M: Florence has taught me to love art. My studies in design helped me explore different styles, leading me to what I do now in Beijing. W: Your work mixes modern art with Chinese traditions. Can you tell us about that? M: I’m drawn to Chinese philosophy and traditional art. My goal is to mix modern with traditional, creating something new but familiar. Moreover, my time with students in Chongqing has inspired me a lot in this aspect. W: You’ve also organized art shows. I entered the living room, where the adults had gathered after dinner. “I want to climb the walls,” I said. Instantly a chorus went up from the people in the room. “Heavens, no!” “You’ll hurt yourself!” I wasn’t disappointed. The response was just as I’d expected. But before I left the room, I heard my grandfather’s booming voice. “Let the boy climb the stonewalls. He has to learn to do things for himself.” For the next two and a half hours I climbed those old walls and had the time of my life. I’ll never forget what my grandfather said. “Fred,” he said, “you made this day a special day just by being yourself. Always remember, there’s only one person in this whole world like you, and I like you exactly as you are.” Many years have passed since then, and today I host the television program Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, seen by millions of children throughout America. There have been changes over the years, but one thing remains the same: my message to children at the end of almost every visit, “There’s only one person in this whole world like you, and people like you exactly as you are.” A OpenLearn is a free learning platform, delivered by the Open University (OU) as part of its commitment to support the wellbeing of the community. This document can be shared digitally or printed. Though the courses do not contribute formal credit towards a qualification or degree, the statement of participation can help show your interest in a subject and a commitment to your career.(注意:成功完成我们的免费课程后,您将能够获得一份免费的参与证明。 D。 B My son used to play every team sport he could. Sometime around sixth grade, he noticed he wasn’t so good at most team sports he played, and he went from a boy who loved being with his friends and playing baseball or basketball for the love of it, to a very self-conscious child who felt like he didn’t measure up. It wasn’t long before he stopped joining any teams. Of course, I encouraged him to be active, and tried to make him see the importance of still doing things he loved even if he wasn’t great. I had always thought my kid would be involved in organized team sports through high school. And I’m glad I didn’t push him. It wasn’t long before he started showing an interest in biking, so I helped him sign up for a bike-building course, which was more exciting for him than hitting a home run. He goes to work with his father during school vacations and during the weekends and is learning the plumbing (管道系统) trade. He isn’t winning awards, he doesn’t get credit or recognition, and colleges won’t look at biking and plumbing the way they would if he were a talented basketball player, but I don’t care and neither does he. When our kids are in their element, that’s all that matters. My son is much happier when he bikes with his father, than he would be if I forced him to be on the basketball court and that’s what our kids will keep; that’s how they will figure out who they are. It’s okay if what excites them doesn’t match common expectations or can’t be measured by the score. And as parents, it’s okay if our kids aren’t going along with the crowd; we need to give them the time and space to figure out their passions on their own. 24.Why did the author’s son quit team sports? A.He fell short of others’ expectations. B.He wanted to stay more with friends. C.He lost interest in physical activities. D.He felt he wasn’t as skilled as others. 25.What was the author’s attitude towards her son’s decision? A.Disappointed. B.Doubtful. C.Excited. D.Supportive. 26.How did the son become joyful again? A.By working part-time. B.By following his heart. C.By escaping from sports. D.By getting some recognition. 27.What does the author suggest to parents? A.Communicating with kids. B.Sparing some time for themselves. C.Respecting kids’ individuality. D.Figuring out kids’ real strengths. 根据第一段中“Sometime around sixth grade, he noticed he wasn’t so good at most team sports he played, and he went from a boy who loved being with his friends and playing baseball or basketball for the love of it, to a very self-conscious child who felt like he didn’t measure up. It wasn’t long before he stopped joining any teams.(大约六年级的时候,他注意到自己不太擅长所参加的团队运动,他从一个喜欢和朋友在一起,因为热爱而打棒球或篮球的男孩,变成了一个自我意识很强的孩子,觉得自己达不到别人的水平。 根据第二段中“Of course, I encouraged him to be active, and tried to make him see the importance of still doing things he loved even if he wasn’t great. I had always thought my kid would be involved in organized team sports through high school. And I’m glad I didn’t push him.(当然,我鼓励他保持活跃,并试图让他明白,即使他做得不是很好,做自己喜欢的事情也很重要。 根据第三段中“It wasn’t long before he started showing an interest in biking, so I helped him sign up for a bike-building course, which was more exciting for him than hitting a home run.(不久之后,他开始对骑自行车感兴趣,所以我帮他报名参加了一个自行车组装课程,这对他来说比打出本垒打还要令人兴奋)”以及第四段中“My son is much happier when he bikes with his father, than he would be if I forced him to be on the basketball court and that’s what our kids will keep; that’s how they will figure out who they are.(当我的儿子和他父亲一起骑自行车时,他比被我强迫去打篮球时快乐得多,这就是我们的孩子会保留的东西;这就是他们会弄清楚自己是谁的方式)”可知,作者的儿子是跟随自己的内心,做自己喜欢的事情而再次变得快乐的。故选B。 27. 根据最后一段中“And as parents, it’s okay if our kids aren’t going along with the crowd; we need to give them the time and space to figure out their passions on their own.(作为父母,如果我们的孩子不跟从大众也没关系;我们需要给他们时间和空间,让他们自己去发现自己的激情所在)”可知,作者建议父母们要尊重孩子们的个性。故选C。 C On March 3rd, a baby whale washed onshore in Georgia. Less than a month later, another whale, a recent mother, was found near the coast of Virginia. They are dying mainly because of human activity, and they are not alone. Traveling ships threaten whale populations worldwide, killing up to 20,000 individuals annually. With global ocean traffic forecast to rise by at least 240% by 2050, the problem will burgeon. Fortunately, a project taking advantage of the technology called Whale Safe is trying to fight against the issue. Callie Leiphardt, the scientist leading the project, says that for every killed whale found, ten more deaths are going unrecorded. That so many were dying despite voluntary speed limits (自动限速) suggested more effective measures were needed. “By alarming ships, and publicizing which shipping companies ignored the speed limit, we might help bring down deaths,” Callie says. Their approach involves listening for whales underwater using microphone-equipped buoys (浮标) capable of separating low-frequency whale calls from the ocean’s background noise. The results are then fed into Whale Safe’s alarm tool, alongside sightings and model-based predictions, to tell nearby ships to slow down. The team then monitors ships’ speeds within established slow zones through a widespread GPS-tracking system and awards parent companies marks from A to F, visible online. The idea is also catching on elsewhere. In 2022, Chile equipped its first buoy to alarm ships. That same year, Greek researchers published the results of a trial using buoys to detect sperm whales in the Mediterranean. Another European project is developing detection boxes that use special cameras, alongside other sensors, to help ships spot whales early. After Whale Safe was first applied, the crashes between ships and whales seemed to be decreasing: only 4 were reported in 2022, compared with 11 the year before. But the accidents between ships and whales are unavoidable in busy ports. So it’s easy to feel pessimistic. But like the whales that used to be hunted, their number has bounced back from the edge of extinction. According to Dr Baumgartner, “Everyone that works on whales has hope.” 28.What does the underlined word “burgeon” in paragraph 1 mean? A.Balloon. B.Die down. C.Turn around. D.Improve. 29.How do the microphone-equipped buoys contribute to reducing whale deaths? A.By monitoring the speeds of nearby ships. B.By setting up proper locations for the slow zones. C.By detecting whale calls and reminding nearby ships. D.By creating an online model to predict potential accidents. 30.What is paragraph 4 mainly about? A.The successful cases of whale conservation. B.The innovations made to microphone-equipped buoys. C.The comparison of measures taken in different countries. D.The global adoption of similar whale protection technologies. 31.What is the author’s attitude towards the technology? A.Doubtful. B.Positive. C.Pessimistic. D.Unclear. 画线词的上文“Traveling ships threaten whale populations worldwide, killing up to 20,000 individuals annually. With global ocean traffic forecast to rise by at least 240% by 2050 (航行的船只威胁着世界各地的鲸鱼种群,每年杀死多达2万只鲸鱼。 故选A项。 29. 根据第三段中“Their approach involves listening for whales underwater using microphone-equipped buoys (浮标) capable of separating low-frequency whale calls from the ocean’s background noise. The results are then fed into Whale Safe’s alarm tool, alongside sightings and model-based predictions, to tell nearby ships to slow down. 根据第四段“The idea is also catching on elsewhere. In 2022, Chile equipped its first buoy to alarm ships. That same year, Greek researchers published the results of a trial using buoys to detect sperm whales in the Mediterranean. Another European project is developing detection boxes that use special cameras, alongside other sensors, to help ships spot whales early. 根据最后一段中“But like the whales that used to be hunted, their number has bounced back from the edge of extinction. According to Dr Baumgartner, “Everyone that works on whales has hope.” D Our bodies were designed for near constant activity and yet, most of us today have trouble finding time to exercise. This is really unfortunate, considering the fact that physical exercise has been shown time and time again to help treat depression, which a record number of people suffer from. According to the researchers from the University of Connecticut (UConn), you don’t need hours at the gym to cheer up. Simply getting out of the chair and taking a walk around can reduce depression and give you a general state of well-being. “We hope this research helps people realize the important public health message that simply going from doing no physical activity to performing some physical activity can improve their subjective well-being,” says Gregory Panza, the study’s lead author. “What is even better news for the physically inactive person is that they do not need to exercise a lot to see these improvements,” Panza continues. “Instead, our results show you will achieve the best result with light or moderate (强度适中) physical activity.” This is particularly encouraging news as “light physical activity” is basically walking—simple, standard walking, the kind where you don’t sweat or notice an increase in breathing or heart rate. And the standard “moderate physical activity” is walking a 15-20 minute mile with a slight increase in breathing and heart rate — while you are still able to hold a conversation — as well as mild sweating. Still, the researchers note that all participants of the study had a generally positive sense of wellbeing and were generally physically active, so their answers should be explained with that in mind. In addition, the study only analyzed one point in time. A longitudinal study (纵向研究), which tracks people over time, would offer a better look at the relationship between exercise and mood. 32.What does the underlined word “This” refer to in paragraph 1? A.Everyone is always so busy. B.Cut body needs constant activity. C.Many people suffer from depression. D.It is hard for people to find time to exercise. 33.What can we learn from the research? A.Its results aren’t what people for. B.Hard physical exercise is not recommended. C.Even a small amount of exercise should be valued. D.Physically active people benefit most from exercise. 34.What can be inferred from the last paragraph? A.Their research has limitations. B.Another study has found the opposite. C.Further study will be conducted soon. D.The research failed due to inadequate preparation. 35.Which of the following would be the best title for the text? A.Cheer yourself up B.Feeling down? Walk it off! C.Overcome your problems D.Be optimistic about your health 【答案】32.D 33.C 34.A 35.B 【导语】这是一篇说明文。 根据第一段“Our bodies were designed for near constant activity and yet, most of us today have trouble finding time to exercise. 根据第三段““What is even better news for the physically inactive person is that they do not need to exercise a lot to see these improvements,” Panza continues. “Instead, our results show you will achieve the best result with light or moderate (强度适中) physical activity.”(“对于不爱运动的人来说,更好的消息是他们不需要进行大量锻炼来看到这些改善。” 根据最后一段“Still, the researchers note that all participants of the study had a generally positive sense of wellbeing and were generally physically active, so their answers should be explained with that in mind. In addition, the study only analyzed one point in time. A longitudinal study (纵向研究), which tracks people over time, would offer a better look at the relationship between exercise and mood(然而,研究人员指出,所有参与研究的人都普遍拥有积极的幸福感,并且通常都进行身体活动,因此他们的回答应该考虑到这一点。 根据第一段“Our bodies were designed for near constant activity and yet, most of us today have trouble finding time to exercise.(我们的身体天生就是为了接近持续的活动而设计的,然而,今天大多数人却难以找到时间来锻炼)”、第三段““We hope this research helps people realize the important public health message that simply going from doing no physical activity to performing some physical activity can improve their subjective well-being,” says Gregory Panza, the study’s lead author. “What is even better news for the physically inactive person is that they do not need to exercise a lot to see these improvements,” Panza continues. “Instead, our results show you will achieve the best result with light or moderate (强度适中) physical activity.”(“我们希望这项研究能帮助人们意识到一个重要的公共卫生信息,那就是仅仅从不进行任何身体活动到进行一些身体活动,就能提高他们的主观幸福感,”研究的首席作者格雷戈里·潘扎说。“对于不爱运动的人来说,更好的消息是他们不需要进行大量锻炼来看到这些改善,”潘扎继续说。“相反,我们的结果展示你将通过轻度或中度的身体活动获得最佳效果。”)”以及最后一段“Still, the researchers note that all participants of the study had a generally positive sense of wellbeing and were generally physically active, so their answers should be explained with that in mind. In addition, the study only analyzed one point in time. A longitudinal study (纵向研究), which tracks people over time, would offer a better look at the relationship between exercise and mood(然而,研究人员指出,所有参与研究的人都普遍拥有积极的幸福感,并且通常都进行身体活动,因此他们的回答应该考虑到这一点。 Walk it off!(心情低落? Maybe you have a fairly good command of the English language. F.Why should you use what you learned on your friends? G.You can find partners online to help you learn English. 36.上文“Are you looking for a place to practice and improve your English skills?”询问你是否正在寻找练习和改善英语技巧的方法,从下文四段已给出的段首来看“Get prepared.”“Find ways to practice.”“Make evaluations.”都是具体的建议,可见此处选择 “The following steps are sure to help you.”(下面几个步骤肯定能帮助你)能起到承上启下的作用。故选B。 37.上文“There is no need to start from the beginning.”表示没有必要从头开始,而D选项表示只要从你薄弱的地方入手(“Just check up and find out where you are weak.”)进一步说明没必要从头开始,此处的薄弱环节与下文的“So, pick out something from your list of things that you need to learn. 38.下文的“These sites will provide you with tools and resources such as audio and video files to practice what you want to learn.” 可见前面一句必然提到一些网站,选项E的“From there”承接前面一句的“Google or Yahoo”,而“find some sites”和后面的“these sites”相呼应。故选E。 39. 后文“You studied what you wanted to learn and now you need to use it in real-life situations.” 故选A。 40. 前文“Once you finish a day's work, sit down for a few minutes and evaluate how you did.” 后文“Are you still weak in certain areas of this topic?” C“Did you learn everything that is required?”(你学了需要学的所有东西吗?) I was once troubled by scars. Yet, I remember one particular day from my childhood so vividly as if it were yesterday. It was a sunlit morning in the spring of 1963, and I was a second - grader at St. Simeon’s Elementary School. Every morning, my mom would pack up a bagged lunch for me, usually a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with an apple for dessert. I loved those lunches; they were a simple pleasure, a little piece of home to carry with me throughout the school day. That particular morning, the sky was clear and blue. As I reached the corner of Pusheck Road, I carefully placed my lunch on the sidewalk in order to shift my school books to a more comfortable position in my arms.(These were pre - backpack times!) The familiar yellow bus rolled up. Distracted(分心) by the excitement of the school day ahead, I got on the bus without a second thought about my lunch bag left behind. The bus driver, a middle - aged man with a friendly face, greeted me with his usual nod. Then I settled - into my seat, my mind already wandering to the day’s activities. It was only when the bus had left the stop and was halfway to school that I began to feel discomfort in my stomach. Then I realized that I had left my lunch on the sidewalk. Panic set in. My eyes filled with tears as I thought of missing out on my peanut butter and jelly sandwich and the apple that my mother had carefully selected. As we pulled into the school parking lot, I could no longer hold back my tears. The bus driver, noticing my distress(悲伤), pulled over slightly and asked gently, “What’s wrong?” I choked out the story between sobs(啜泣), explaining how I had left my lunch behind and how I was facing a long, hungry day. Paragraph 1: He listened carefully and then said, “Don’t worry too much.” ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: At noon, our teacher, with a curious expression, approached me with a bag. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】     He listened carefully and then said, Don’t worry too much.'' He paused for a moment and then added, I’ve got an extra sandwich and apple in my lunch box. You can have them.'' I was so surprised and grateful. Are you sure?'' I asked. He nodded and handed me his lunch. I eagerly accepted, feeling a mix of relief and appreciation for his kindness. As I ate, I couldn’t help but think how fortunate I was to have such a thoughtful bus driver.      At noon, our teacher, with a curious expression, approached me with a bag. Is this yours?'' she asked, holding it up. I recognized it immediately as my lunch bag. Yes, it is!'' I exclaimed, taking it from her hands. Where did you find it?'' I asked, puzzled. She explained that a kind lady had brought it to the school office, saying she found it on the sidewalk near Pusheck Road. Thank you so much,'' I said, tears welling up in my eyes again, this time not from sadness, but from gratitude. I was overwhelmed with relief, knowing that I had not only been helped by the bus driver but also by a stranger who went out of her way to return my lunch. 词汇激活 行为类 ①别担心:don’t worry/don’t be anxious ②归还:return/give back ③认出:recognize/identify ④(眼泪)涌出:well up/pour 情绪类 ①感激的:grateful/thankful ②困惑的:puzzled/confused 【点睛】[高分句型1] I eagerly accepted, feeling a mix of relief and appreciation for his kindness.(运用了现在分词feeling作伴随状语) [高分句型2] I was overwhelmed with relief, knowing that I had not only been helped by the bus driver but also by a stranger who went out of her way to return my lunch.(运用了分词knowing作状语、that引导的宾语从句以及who引导的限制性定语从句) 试卷第1页,共3页 试卷第1页,共3页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$■■■ ■■a 2025届高三英语高考模拟风向卷(新高考IⅡ卷)04 h在各速日岩积≤线有伟》,0用国色过区苦表无教 英语·答题卡 第四都分好作(共两节,海分每分) 第一节(情分15分) 峡考 账条形区 口 D 0 0 23 23 23 123 1 接意率项 234 23 123 直哈查考员所贴的民两 4 234 2 叠公南使用金松笔填性: 球必用05 5 5 5 5 12345676 5 5 5 5 保色沈的莲学第项写,学体工颗 3请信酸的在置题区内作害,植出容数风楚 6789 878 67 67 67 67 8 8 8 678 12345678 鲨无数在解凭:试裤上作落无效 L保特清,在不要斯叠. At moont tw fruchev,wi curicut expneenut approached une with u bog Sometime around sixth grade, he noticed he wasn’t so good at most team sports he played, and he went from a boy who loved being with his friends and playing baseball or basketball for the love of it, to a very self-conscious child who felt like he didn’t measure up. C On March 3rd, a baby whale washed onshore in Georgia. D.Unclear. D Our bodies were designed for near constant activity and yet, most of us today have trouble finding time to exercise. C.Overcome your problems D.Be optimistic about your health Maybe you have a fairly good command of the English language. C On March 3rd, a baby whale washed onshore in Georgia. D.Unclear. D Our bodies were designed for near constant activity and yet, most of us today have trouble finding time to exercise. C.Overcome your problems D.Be optimistic about your health Maybe you have a fairly good command of the English language.
