B Growing up, my older sister always told me that going to high school allowed me to have more fun. But on the night before the first day, going to sleep was difficult. I was up all night thinking about how the day would go. What if my friends aren’t in any of my classes? What if I get made fun of? What will people think of when they first see me? The next morning, as I started walking towards the gate of the school I had butterflies in my stomach. There were a lot of students. As I looked around, I started to notice the familiar (熟悉的) faces of my friends who went to primary school with me. For some reason, I would get very nervous when someone new got close to me. The one thing I was most nervous about was walking in late to one of my classes. Guess what? That was exactly what happened. Going to the first period was simple because luckily, other students were helping us find our classes. Not to mention, I ended up having that class with a couple of friends. As I made my way down the halls to get to my second-period class we had about five minutes to get to our classes. Finally, I ended up getting lost and coming to class ten minutes after the bell had rung, which resulted in the class looking at me when I walked in. I felt self-conscious. Everyone had already taken their seats so I rushed to sit down as well. However, I had to sit with someone new. It took me a while to begin talking to him but once I did, things became easier because I was able to ask for help when needed. In high school I was going to be meeting new people in unfamiliar places, getting used to a new environment, and receiving more responsibilities. But I’m still looking forward to it. 4. How did the author feel before his first day? A. He was too nervous to sleep. B. He missed his old friends badly. C. He felt certain about his future life. D. He was worried about meeting new teachers. 5. What did the author do at the gate of the school? A. He asked others about the campus. B. He communicated with new friends. C. He asked for leave because of his illness. D. He saw his old friends in primary school. 6. What happened when the author was on his way to his first class? A He lost his way B. He was offered help. C. He made a new friend. D. He ran into his class teacher. 7. What does the underlined word “self-conscious” in paragraph 4 mean? A. Angry. B. Embarrassed. C. Excited. D. Comfortable. C Walking is the best form of exercise. It is good for the upper respiratory (与呼吸有关的) system and the legs. It helps us control our weight and blood sugar. Walking is also a good way to help you make more friends, bringing chances to see new things and meet new people. Personally, I try to walk at least 5 miles daily. As well as walking, I also cycle around Xiamen. Cycling is great for weight loss and helps to build stamina (耐力). However, cycling does not allow for the same level of social contact as a walk. It is for this reason that I would strongly suggest that you try long-distance walking if you want to be physically healthy. I originally (最初) started walking around Xiamen because I didn’t have a car, but I soon started to enjoy the walking itself. I have also made many friends during my walks. It’s not uncommon for my 5-mile walk to sometimes take as long as 2 or 3 hours, because I stop to chat with different shop owners along my route. These days, if I skip my walk for even one day, the people in the shops may want to know why I didn’t come. I’ ll never forget the first time some people followed me when I was walking, and asked if it was okay for them to walk with me. I really didn’t know what to say, so I just replied that I didn’t mind. I have been invited for lunch, dinner and sometimes just to sit and drink tea with total strangers. There is nothing more pleasant than walking past a schoolyard and hearing all the kids say hello to me. 8. Why did the author have to take a walk at the very beginning? A. Because he wanted to build his body. B. Because he enjoyed walking. C. Because he had no car. D. Because he wished to make friends. 9. The underlined word “skip” in the third paragraph is closest in meaning to __________. A. annoy B. quit C. revise D. arrange 10. What can be inferred from the passage? A. Cycling allows for no social contact. B. Walking is better than cycling. C. To be healthy, it’s better to cycle. D. The author prefers walking to cycling. 11. Why did the author tell us his walking experience in the last two paragraphs? A. To share the unforgettable experience with us. B. To show us the meaning of walking in social contact. C. To tell us how to develop the habit of walking. D. To explain to us why a usual walk took him as long as 2 or 3 hours. D Singapore’s tradition of eating out in places called hawker centres is now recognized by the United Nations for its cultural importance. A hawker is a person who sells food or goods and advertises by shouting to people walking by on the street. Hawkers are an important part of Singaporean culture. Open-air eating areas where hawkers sell their goods in low price are very popular. Famous chefs, such as Anthony Bourdain and Gordon Ramsay have praised them. On Wednesday, a specialized agency of the United Nations, UNESCO, added the city’s “hawker culture” to its Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Singapore sought to have hawker culture added to the list about two years ago. Now that it has been recognized, Singapore must provide a report every six years for UNESCO. The report must show efforts the city-state has made to save and support its hawker culture. “These centres serve as ‘community dining rooms’, where people from various backgrounds gather and share the experience of dining over breakfast, lunch and dinner,” UNESCO said. In the 1970s, Singapore cleaned up its streets so the city moved street hawkers to new eating centres. These areas were part of an effort to improve the island. Now, the centres offer many different low-cost meals to local people and provide a pleasing social setting. The 2018 film Crazy Rich Asians showed its stars enjoying meals at a famous night market. Some sellers even received Michelin stars from a famous restaurant rating system for their meals costing only a few dollars. But now the average age of the hawker in Singapore is 60 years old. Younger Singaporeans now want to work in offices. They are less interested in working in small restaurants. The COVID-19 pandemic (流行病) health crisis also hurt sales, preventing foreign visitors and locals from eating out. 12. What do we know about hawkers from paragraph 2? A. They are native Singaporeans. B. They sell goods in the open air. C. They like posting advertisements on the street. D. They have good relationships with famous chefs. 13. Why is the film Crazy Rich Asians mentioned? A. To advertise the film. B. To introduce the stars. C. To show the popularity of hawker centres. D. To explain a famous restaurant rating system. 14. What is the last paragraph mainly about? A. The difficulties faced by hawker culture. B. The effect of the COVID-19 pandemic. C. The future of hawker culture. D. The average age of hawkers. 15. What is the best title for the text? A. Hawkers support cultural diversity in Singapore. B. Singapore makes efforts to promote its hawker culture. C. UNESCO recognizes Singapore’s low-cost food culture. D. Singapore is preparing for the protection of traditional culture. How to Be a Successful High School Student Being a successful high school student requires both patience and power. Every year at Christmas time, our Service Club takes the children from poor families in our town on a shopping tour. I chose Timmy and Billy, whose father was out of work. Their mother was still in poor condition. Besides, they also had two younger sisters to care for. They lived a hard life. After giving them the allotted (指定的) four dollars each. I began the shopping trip with the two boys. One store after another, they could find their desired gifts. At different stores. I made suggestions on what they should buy, but always their answer was a polite shake of the head, no. Finally I asked, “Where would you suggest we look? What on earth do you want to buy for this Christmas?” “Could we go to a shoe store, sir?” asked Timmy, I felt confused about his question, so I asked why. Timmy replied, “We’d like to buy a pair of shoes for our Daddy so that he can go to work.” In the shoe store, the shopkeeper asked what the boys wanted. Out came the brown paper. “We want a pair of work shoes to fit this foot,” they said. Billy explained that it was their Daddy’s footprint. They had drawn it while he was asleep in a chair. The shopkeeper held the paper against a measuring(测量的)stick, and then walked away. Soon he came with an open box. “Will these do?” he asked. Timmy and Billy held the shoes with great expectation. “How much do they cost?” asked Billy. Then Timmy saw the price on the box. “They’re $16.95,” he said, feeling downhearted. “But we only have eight dollars. It is far from enough to buy them for our Daddy. What should we do? Everyone had already taken their seats so I rushed to sit down as well. However, I had to sit with someone new. It took me a while to begin talking to him but once I did, things became easier because I was able to ask for help when needed. In high school I was going to be meeting new people in unfamiliar places, getting used to a new environment, and receiving more responsibilities. But I’m still looking forward to it. 4. D 6. B 7. B 【解析】 【导语】这是一篇记叙文。文章主要讲述了作者第一天进入高中校园时的心情以及所发生的事情。 【4题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章第一段“But on the night before the first day, going to sleep was difficult. I was up all night thinking about how the day would go.(但是在第一天前的晚上,我很难入睡。我一夜未眠,一直在想这一天会怎么过。)”可知,作者很紧张,以至于很难入睡。故选A。 【5题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段第一句“The next morning, as I started walking towards the gate of the school I had butterflies in my stomach.(第二天早上,当我开始向学校大门走去时,我感到很紧张。)”和第三句“As I looked around, I started to notice the familiar faces of my friends who went to primary school with me.(当我环顾四周时,我开始注意到和我一起上小学的朋友们的熟悉面孔。)”可知,作者在学校门口看到了小学时的老朋友。故选D。 【6题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章第三段“ Going to the first period was simple because luckily, other students were helping us find our classes.”(去上第一节课很简单,因为幸运的是,有其他学生在帮助我们找教室。)” 根据文章第四段“Finally, I ended up getting lost and coming to class ten minutes after the bell had rung, which resulted in the class looking at me when I walked in.(最终,我迷路了,结果上课铃响了十分钟后我才赶到教室,这导致我在走进教室时所有人都看着我。)” B。 C Walking is the best form of exercise. C. To be healthy it’s better to cycle. C 9. B 10. D 11. 根据第二段的“I originally started walking around Xiamen because I didn’t have a car, but I soon started to enjoy the walking itself.(我最初开始在厦门四处走动是因为没有车,但很快就开始享受起散步本身了。)” 根据第二段的“However, cycling does not allow for the same level of social contact as a walk. It is for this reason that I will strongly suggest that you try long-distance walking if you want to be physically healthy. (然而,骑自行车不允许与散步同等程度的社交接触。正是因为这个原因,如果你想保持身体健康,我强烈建议你尝试长途步行)”以及第三段的“I have also made many friends during my walks.(我在散步时也交了很多朋友)”可知,文中列举了走路带给他的好处,由此可推知,与骑车相比,作者更喜欢走路。故选D。 【11题详解】 推理判断题。根据倒数第二段的“I have also made many friends during my walks. It’s not uncommon for my 5-mile walk to sometimes take as long as 2 or 3 hours, because I stop to chat with different shop owners along my route.(我在散步时也交了很多朋友。我步行5英里有时需要2到3个小时,这并不罕见,因为我会停下来与沿途不同的店主聊天)”以及最后一段的“I have been invited for lunch, dinner and sometimes just to sit and drink tea with total strangers. There is nothing more pleasant than walking past a schoolyard and hearing all the kids say hello to me.(我被邀请共进午餐、晚餐,有时只是和完全陌生的人坐在一起喝茶。没有什么比走过校园,听到所有的孩子向我问好更令人愉快的了)”可知,这两段主要讲述了作者在散步过程中结识了许多不同的朋友,给作者带来欢乐,由此可推知,作者在最后两段告诉我们他的行走经历是为了向我们展示散步在社交方面的意义。故选B。 D Singapore’s tradition of eating out in places called hawker centres is now recognized by the United Nations for its cultural importance. But, now the average age of the hawker in Singapore is 60 years old. 12. B 13. C 14. A 15. Here are some tips that I often use to deal with the relationship between myself and my parents. First, we often share our joys and sorrows with each other. Second, when I make complaints about them, they always listen to me carefully and make changes. Third, we often take part in some fun activities together, which makes our heart closer. 词汇积累 往往:tend to do→have a tendency to do 忽视:ignore→neglect 与……交流:communicate with→interact with 处理:handle→deal with/manage 参加:take part in→participate in 2. In our daily life, many students tend to ignore the relationship between themselves and their parents. If only we could get a discount (折扣)!” At that moment, I looked at the shopkeeper and asked, “Can you give us a discount?” ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The boys went back home with the shoes happily. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】At that moment I looked at the shopkeeper and asked, “Can you give us a discount?” “Why did you ask for a discount?” asked the shopkeeper. I told the shopkeeper about the family situation of the two children and the idea that the two children wanted to buy shoes for their father. With tears in his eyes, the shopkeeper said, “I am touched that these two children are so considerate. As a reward for them, I decided to give the shoes for free.” Then he packed up the shoes and handed them to Timmy. Timmy took the shoes, dropped the $8 in his hand and ran out the door, saying, “We can’t take it for free. Thank you for your kindness. We’re very touched that you can give us a discount.” Seeing this scene, I also shed tears of emotion. The boys went back home with the shoes happily. When they got home, the two boys couldn’t wait to call their father out of the room to try on the shoes, which was carefully selected for their father. Dad came out of the room, tried on the shoes, felt comfortable, and asked with a puzzled look, “Thank you so much my lovely children, but how did you know the size of my shoes?” The two boys pointed to the brown paper footprints and laughed and said that it told us. Dad stared at the footprints on the kraft paper and couldn’t say anything, just hugged the two considerate children. It says it all. This is true love, no words need be expressed, actions speak for themselves. 词汇激活 行为类 ①决定:decide/determine ②拥抱:hug/embrace 情绪类 ①感动的:touched/moved ②舒服的: comfortable/cozy ③体贴:considerate/thoughtful 【点睛】【高分句型1】Seeing this scene, I also shed tears of emotion.(运用了现在分词作伴随状语) 【高分句型2】When they got home, the two boys couldn’t wait to call their father out of the room to try on the shoes, which was carefully selected for their father.(运用了when引导的时间状语从句和which引导的非限制性定语从句) 1-5 BBACA 6-10 CBCAC 11-15 BABBC 16-20 AABAC 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
