Diary writing is a very powerful tool in improving your English writing.
Anything that happened or whatever you have thought about may be put in the diary.
Pre-writing
What is a diary?
A diary is a book in which you write about anything you want to note down about
your daily life. While writing a diary, you usually put (the date/the time/the date and
the weather) at the beginning of each entry, that is, the first line. There then follows
an opening paragraph and the body. In the body part, you usually give an account of
an event or state your ideas about a specific topic from the (first-person/third-person)
point of view. You often use (short conversational/long formal) sentences and (formal/
informal) vocabulary, including vivid (verbs/adjectives/adverbs) to give detailed descriptions.

I was depressed because I could not understand an English book after I bought it. I could understand nothing.
I thought maybe I should study English hard and only by this could I learn a lot of knowledge and understand English as well as communicate with others in English. I told myself, “Just go!”
Wednesday,Sept.24 Windy
Today, I opened my free forum and I was happy because I could do a lot of things there. I decided to upgrade my forum and
make it interesting. Then I will make it grow up and at the same time, I can write
what I want to say there. I will be very happy.
Thursday,Sept.25 Sunny
Today I made a decision that I will tell myself “Go” in front of the mirror after
getting up every day because I often lose my confidence, which I believe will make
me confident. Thus, I can do something I want to do but dare not to bravely. Now, I will say, “Keep going.”
Read the three diaries and think about the format of a diary.

Li Ming and I took part in a wilderness survival program yesterday, and it has been one of the most unforgettable experiences since high school.
Early in the morning, we set out. Li Ming was carrying a compass and a tent in his backpack and in mine there was a flashlight, a map, a knife, a first-aid kit, some matches, candles, food, and clothes. On the way to the campsite, we climbed a hill, and then we swam across a river, pushing the backpacks on a large piece of wood we had found by the river. As we got into a forest, we lost our way. Luckily, we found the right direction with the compass. By the time we arrived at the campsite, it had already been dark. Li Ming then put up the tent, and I made a fire and started cooking. The two of us spent the night in the forest.
We learned to use knowledge gained in classroom training to solve problems. It was quite an experience for us both, which I'll never forget for the rest of my life.
