[答案 P24] 一、阅读理解 (A) The girls spent the rest of the day preparing a play. The sisters often performed plays for their friends. A dozen girls arrived about six o'clock and took their places in the big bedroom. The play was a great success. Everybody enjoyed it very much. The girls were still laughing and clapping when Hannah came in and said, “Supper is ready.” A surprise was waiting for them on the dining room table—dishes of ice cream, pink and white, fresh fruit, cakes and real French chocolates. And in the middle of all this delicious food there were four vases of beautiful flowers. The girls couldn't believe their eyes. “Did the fairies bring the supper?” asked Amy. “No, Santa Claus brought it,” said Beth. “Mother did it,” Meg said. “No! Aunt March sent it!” cried Jo. “You are all wrong,” said Mrs. March. “Old Mr.Laurence sent it.” “The Laurence boy's grandfather!” exclaimed Meg. “Why did he do that? We don't know him!” “Hannah told one of his servants the story of the Hummels. Mr. Laurence was sorry to hear about your poor Christmas breakfast, so he decided to give you a surprise.” “My mother says he's very proud,” said one of the girls at the table. “She says that he doesn't like mixing with his neighbors. His grandson has to stay in the house and study all day. We invited him to a party once, but he didn't come. He's very shy.” “I am going to talk to him one day,” said Jo. “He needs to have some fun. I am going to invite him to our next play!” Adapted from Little Women 根据语篇内容,从每小题所给的A、B、C三个选项中选择最佳答案。 (C)1.Who prepared the delicious supper for the sisters? The room in the workhouse where the boys eat meals was a large stone hall. They eat a bowl of thin soup three times a day, with a piece of bread on Sundays. The boys were always hungry and ate everything up. The bowls never needed washing. The boys polished(擦亮)them with their spoons until they shone. After three months of hunger, one of the boys told the others he was so hungry that one night he might eat the boy who slept next to him. His wild hungry eyes made the other boys afraid and then believed him. After a long discussion, they decided that one of them should ask for more food after supper that evening, and Oliver chose to go. The evening arrived, the soup was served, and the bowls were empty again in a few seconds. Oliver went up to the master(主人), with his bowl in his hand. He felt very scared, but also desperate(渴望的)with hunger. “Please, sir, I want some more.” The master was a fat, healthy man, but he turned angry. “What?” he asked at last, in a surprising voice. “Please, sir,” replied Oliver, “Would you please give me more? There was a rope around me and I followed Silver, who held the other end of the rope. He took out his map and said. “There are three tall trees in the right place. The treasure must be there! Go ahead!” Then he turned to me, “Jim, don't dream to escape!” Just then, a high shaking voice began to sing, “Fifteen men on the dead man's chest…” The pirates all began trembling(颤抖). The colour went from their six faces, and they looked at each other like frightened children. “It sounds like Flint!” Someone cried. “No!” Silver managed to shout out the words, “There's no ghost!” Then the voice came again, “Fifteen men on the dead man's chest…” “Those were Flint's last words before he died,” cried one of the pirates. “I'm here to get the treasure,” shouted Silver, “and I was never afraid of Flint in his life and I'll face him dead!” His words calmed the others. “Yes, that's right,” one of them said. The high shaking voice disappeared on the sea. All the men were happy again and began to walk on. We reached the first tall tree, but it was the wrong one. So was the second. The third was not far away. The pirates hurried to get their hands on the seven hundred thousand pounds in gold which lay somewhere under the tree. Silver turned his eyes on me with a deadly look. I could read his thoughts—he hoped to take the treasure, kill every honest man on the island and sail away. “Go ahead, all together, boys!” Silver shouted and the men began to run. But no more than ten metres farther, they stopped. Before us was a large hole, not a new hole, because grass grew on the bottom. There was no treasure—the seven hundred thousand pounds had gone!
