One answer is written records. The earliest written records of Chinese culture are known as oracle bone inscriptions (甲骨文). They were discovered 121 years ago. More than 3,000 years ago, people in the Shang Dynasty liked to ask fortune tellers (占卜师) about the future. People asked questions about many topics such as the weather, the work and love and so on. The fortune teller would write the question on an oracle bone, heat it up, and then read it to find an answer. Tens of thousands of oracle bones have been found so far. They can tell us a great deal about how people lived during the Shang Dynasty. “They help us understand where our culture comes from,” Song Zhenhao, a leading oracle bone expert, said. In addition to telling us about ancient Chinese culture, the oracle bones are also keys to understanding the growth and development of the written form of the Chinese language. Many of the characters we use today are similar to those used 3,000 years ago. “The oracle bone inscriptions, as the earliest-known form of Chinese characters, stand for the beauty of a language that has been passed down consistently (持续地),” said Chen Nan, a professor at Tsinghua University. In 2017, UNESCO added oracle bone inscriptions to Its Memory of the World Register (“世界记忆”名录). They are indeed a valuable memory of ancient China. 27. Which year is it that the oracle bone inscriptions were discovered? A. 1898. B. 1899. C. 1900. D. 1902. 28. Which is Not the question that people asked the fortune teller? A. What will be the weather like next week? B. Will my wife give birth to a boy or a girl? C. When did the first creature appear in the world? D. Where should I go to make money? 29. What does the underlined word “They” refer to? A. The Shang Dynasty. B. The oracle bones. C. People in Shang Dynasty. D. The fortune tellers. 30. What’s the best title of the passage? A. Differences between Chinese Characters. B. The Development of Oracle Bone Inscriptions C. Oracle Bone Inscriptions and Fortune Tellers. D. Written Word of Ancient Times. B He was a journalist (记者) and a political critic (评论家). But to most people, he is the most influential martial arts novelist in the Chinese-speaking world. During his lifetime, Louis Cha Leung-yung, better known by his pen name Jin Yong, wrote 15 martial arts novels. Over 300 million copies of his books have been sold around the world. He also created some of the most famous characters in the history of Chinese literature, including Guo Jing, Wei Xiaobao and Linghu Chong. Jin Yong was not the first person to write about the martial arts world known as jianghu, but it is believed that he has written some of its best stories. His works were not only a joy for people to read, but also helped to shape Chinese people’s spirit and values in recent years. Jin Yong once said, “Wuxia (martial arts novels) is not so much about wu(kung fu), but mainly about xia, something of bravery, justice (正义) and self-sacrifice (自我牺牲).” These values have been passed on to generations of Chinese through his books as well as the countless movies and TV series that have been adapted from his novels. Jin Yong’s books are not only about heroes who fight for justice. They also show people the beauty of almost every aspect of Chinese culture. “It is difficult to talk about Jin Yong’s cultural influence. He turns novels into an encyclopedia of Chinese history, medicine, geography, mathematics...” Boston University professor Petrus Liu said. Jin Yong once said that he hoped people would still read his books even 100 or 200 years after his death. It is probably safe to say that as long as the noble (高尚的) qualities mentioned in his stories never die out, neither will his great works themselves. 31. From this passage we can know Jing Yong is better known as a ______. A. writer B. critic C. teacher D. news worker 32. According to the passage people enjoy reading Jing Yong’s novels because they can ______. ①enjoy interesting stories of jianghu ②know and do Chinese kung fu ③learn Chinese culture and history ④form good values and qualities A. ①②③ B. ①②④ C. ①③④ D. ②③④ 33. What can we infer from the underlined sentence in the last paragraph? A. People will still value Jin Yong’s books with good qualities. B. Jin Yong has such noble qualities that we will never forget him. C. Jin Yong’s values of Wuxia make great sense to Chinese culture. D. Jin Yong’s books will have less cultural influence after his death. 34. What’s the writing purpose of the passage? A. To shape the value of Wuxia. B. To introduce the kingdom of kung fu. C. To show justice and bravery. D. To remember a writer of great works. C How do people think differently? This has always been unusual. To search an answer, a scientist named J. P. Guilford started a famous study of creativity in the 1970s, known as the nine-dot puzzle He asked the participants (参与者) to connect all nine dots using only four straight lines, without lifting their pencils from the page. All the participants looked for solutions within the square they imagined. Only 20 percent managed to break out of the square and continue their lines in the white space around the dots, while the rest of them were blinded by the boundaries (边界) of the square. The results of Guilford’s study led him to a conclusion: creativity needs you to go outside the box. The idea was widely spread soon. Overnight, it seemed that creativity experts everywhere were teaching managers how to think outside the box. The idea was so popular that no one thought of checking the facts. No one, that is, before two different research teams — Clarke Burmham with Kenneth Davis, and Joseph Alba with Rober: Weisberg — did another experiment. To make sure that Guilford’s study is correct, both teams divided participants into two groups. The first group was given the same instructions as the participants in Guilford’s experiment. The second group was told to draw the lines outside the imagined box. Guess what? Only a little more than 20 percent solved the puzzle, which is no big difference from the result of Guilford’s experiment. Let’s look a little more closely at the surprising result. Solving this problem requires people to think outside the box. However, direct and clear instructions to “think outside the box” do not help participants improve their performance. The widely spread idea that out-of-the-box thinking makes people more creative can, in some way, be dangerous. After all, with one simple but brilliant experiment, researchers had proved that the connection between thinking outside the box and creativity was a misunderstanding. 35. The nine-dot puzzle study is mainly focused on ______. A. how people do things in real life B. what people see in the experiment C. how people think in different ways D. what knowledge people have learned 36. Why did the two research teams do the following experiment? A. To discover the main idea of Guiford’s study. B. To show different views against Guiford’s study. C To collect supporting details for Guiford’s study. D. To double-check the correctness of Guiford’s study. 37. From the passage we can learn that ______. A. boundaries sometimes make people think less creatively B. clear instructions influence how people solve problems C. few people performed better with the clear instructions D. the methods of nine-dot puzzle study need to be improved 38. Which is the best title for the passage? A. Puzzle Solving: A Key To Creativity B. Nine-Dot Puzzle: A Magic Test C. Thinking Outside the Box: A Misleading Idea D. Creative Thinking: An Unusual Topic 根据短文内容,从短文后的A、B、C、D、E、F选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,选项中有两项为多余选项。 Tips for Staying Sharp It’s not abnormal to feel out of it from time to time or perhaps you’re feeling a bit sluggish(迟钝的)when it comes to remembering things. D 28. C 29. B 30. 根据文章第一段最后一句“The earliest written records of Chinese culture are known as oracle bone inscriptions (甲骨文). They were discovered 121 years ago.(中国最早的文字记录是甲骨文。它们是在121年前被发现的。)”可知,根据选项2024年的121年前是1903年,但考虑到是121“年前”,因此应往前推算一年,即1903年的前一年1902年是甲骨文被发现的年份。故选D项。 【28题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章第二段中“People asked questions about many topics such as the weather, the work and love and so on.(人们会问很多关于天气、工作和爱情等话题的问题。)” 根据文章第三段中“Tens of thousands of oracle bones have been found so far.(到目前为止,已经发现了数万块甲骨文。)”以及后文“They can tell us a great deal about how people lived during the Shang Dynasty.(它们可以告诉我们很多关于商朝人们是如何生活的。)” 根据文章第一段“The earliest written records of Chinese culture are known as oracle bone inscriptions (甲骨文).(中国最早的文字记录是甲骨文。)” B。 B He was a journalist (记者) and a political critic (评论家). According to the passage, people enjoy reading Jing Yong’s novels because they can ______. D Jin Yong’s books will have less cultural influence after his death. 34. What’s the writing purpose of the passage? A. To shape the value of Wuxia. B. To introduce the kingdom of kung fu. C. To show justice and bravery. D. To remember a writer of great works. A 32. C 33. A 34. 根据第一段“He was a journalist(记者) and a political critic (评论家). But to most people, he is the most influential martial arts novelist in the Chinese-speaking world.(他是一名记者和政治评论家。但对大多数人来说,他是华语世界最有影响力的武侠小说家。)”可知,金庸曾经是记者、评论家和作家,但是更著名的是小说家。故选A。 根据第三段“Jin Yong was not the first person to write about the martial arts world known as jianghu, but it is believed that he has written some of its best stories. His works were not only a joy for people to read, but also helped to shape Chinese people’s spirit and values in recent years.(金庸并不是第一个描写武术世界江湖的人,但人们相信他写了一些最好的故事。他的作品不仅给人们带来了阅读的乐趣,而且在近年来帮助塑造了中国人的精神和价值观。)”以及第六段“He turns novels into an encyclopedia of Chinese history, medicine, geography, mathematics...( 他把小说变成了中国历史、医学、地理、数学的百科全书……)” 根据前文“Jin Yong once said that he hoped people would still read his books even 100 or 200 years after his death.(金庸曾经说过,他希望在他死后的一二百年,人们还能读他的书。)”结合画线句“It is probably safe to say that as long as the noble(高尚的) qualities mentioned in his stories never die out, neither will his great works themselves.(可以肯定地说,只要他的故事中提到的高尚品质不会消失,他的伟大作品本身也不会消失。)” 故选A。 根据第二段“During his lifetime, Louis Cha Leung-yung, better known by his pen name Jin Yong, wrote 15 martial arts novels.(金庸的笔名更为人所知,他一生写了15部武侠小说。)” D。 C How do people think differently? C. To collect supporting details for Guiford’s study. D. To double-check the correctness of Guiford’s study. 37. From the passage, we can learn that ______. A. boundaries sometimes make people think less creatively B. clear instructions influence how people solve problems C. few people performed better with the clear instructions D. the methods of nine-dot puzzle study need to be improved 38. Which is the best title for the passage? A. Puzzle Solving: A Key To Creativity B. Nine-Dot Puzzle: A Magic Test C. Thinking Outside the Box: A Misleading Idea D. Creative Thinking: An Unusual Topic 【答案】35. C 36. D 37. C 38. J. P. Guess what? Only a little more than 20 percent solved the puzzle, which is no big difference from the result of Guilford’s experiment.( 第二组被告知在想象的盒子外面画线。 根据第一段中的“To search an answer, a scientist named J. P. Guilford started a famous study of creativity in the 1970s, known as the nine-dot puzzle(九点谜题). Tips for Staying Sharp It’s not abnormal to feel out of it from time to time or perhaps you’re feeling a bit sluggish(迟钝的)when it comes to remembering things.
