B (21-22高二下—湖北—期中) Teenagers who spend more time on after-school activities and less than two hours of screen time after school are more mentally healthy, according to a study published in the journal Preventive Medicine. The study used information collected from more than 28,000 seventh-grade Canadian students between 2014 and 2018. The students first answered questions about their usage of screen time after school, including how much time they spent watching TV or something else. Then, students reported how many days they had taken part in after-school activities such as sports or arts programmes. After that, researchers asked students to describe their state of mind. For example, when given a statement such as “I start most days thinking that I will have a good day”, they could choose to what level they agreed with it on a scale (等级). Researchers said in the study some of the results were expected. Students with no after-school activities usually had high levels of screen time, for example. And they expected girls would score higher on negative indicators (消极指标) of mental health, as earlier research had found that they tended to have higher levels of anxiety compared to boys. What was noteworthy, researchers say, is that even among students who took part in after-school activities, 46% still went beyond the recommended screen time of two hours. At the same time, 67% of students who didn’t take part in after-school activities also had more than two hours of screen time. Together, this suggests high screen time among teenagers generally. “The findings suggest that after-school activities are valuable for the happy growing of teenagers,” the study said. “While past studies have proved the importance of after-school activities for social and academic development, the present study shows their importance for good mental health results. ” 4. Which of the following came last when students took part in the new study? A. Talking about their lifestyles. B. Introducing their after-school activities. C. Reporting their mental states on a scale. D. Answering questions about screen time use. 5. What do the researchers find about teenage girls? A. They often have higher levels of satisfaction. B. Few of them take part in after-school activities. C. Anxiety has become a serious problem among them. D. Too much screen time may be more harmful to them. 6. What does the author want to show by using the numbers in paragraph 4? A. Earlier findings about screen time are wrong. B. High screen time is common among teenagers. C. No after-school activities mean no screen time. D. Screens attract teenagers more than after-school activities do. 7. Why are after-school activities so important according to the new study? A. They are good for teenagers’ physical health. B. They help to improve teenagers’ mental health. C. They encourage teenagers’ social development. D. They allow teenagers to become better learners. (23-24高二下—江苏镇江—期中)The final year of high school is one of the most significant transition periods in a young person’s life. 8 . While there is plentiful evidence to show pursuing goals is associated with well-being, setting goals itself is not a cure-all. How you set goals and pursue them can either promote well-being or worsen anxiety. ● Focus on a positive target Our goals are set as either “approach-oriented” or “avoidance-oriented”. Approach-oriented goals focus on a positive target. For example, “I want to work hard to get over 80% in biology. ” 9 . For example, “I want to avoid getting below 80% for biology. ” These two goals are essentially the same in content, but evidence shows people who set approach-oriented goals report better well-being. ● Goals need to be meaningful and freely chosen 10 Goals that are genuinely meaningful and freely chosen represent internalized self-motivated goals and can promote well-being. On the other hand, goals that are a product of external pressures have been linked with stress and anxiety. 11 Compared to overly generalized goals, specific goals are more likely to be achieved. Specific goals provide more mental reminders to keep you on track and help monitor personal progress towards a goal. The more specific a person’s goal plans are, the better. ● Set goals outside of academic achievement For the final year of schooling, it’s important to set goals that aren’t only linked to academic expectations. Having goals in other aspects such as leisure and recreation, health and relationships will help enhance your sense of well-being. 12 . A. Flexibility is of vital importance B. Make sure your goals aren’t too general C. Avoidance-oriented goals focus on avoiding negative outcomes D. It’s important to think about why you set and pursue certain goals E. One of the least enjoyable by-products is the stress associated with the final year F. These goals will assist you in successfully progressing through the final year and beyond G. If you’re experiencing severe stress, there are support contacts and resources available 第二部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 (21-22高一上—全国—课后作业) Afraid to have a start, I was walking slowly into my first school in America. C 5. D 6. B 7. 根据第二段“The students first answered … Then, students reported … After that, researchers asked students to describe their state of mind. 根据第三段“And they expected girls would score higher on negative indicators (消极指标) of mental health, as earlier research had found that they tended to have higher levels of anxiety compared to boys. 根据第四段中“Together, this suggests high screen time among teenagers generally. 根据第一段中“Teenagers who spend more time on after-school activities and less than two hours of screen time after school are more mentally healthy, according to a study published in the journal Preventive Medicine. (发表在《预防医学》杂志上的一项研究表明,花更多时间参加课外活动、放学后看屏幕时间少于两小时的青少年心理更健康)”及最后一段中的“The findings suggest that after-school activities are valuable for the happy growing of teenagers(研究结果表明,课外活动对青少年的快乐成长很有价值)”及“While past studies have proved the importance of after-school activities for social and academic development, the present study shows their importance for good mental health results. 10. 由前文“Goals need to be meaningful and freely chosen (目标需要是有意义且自由选择的)”可知,前文强调了目标的意义和自主性,D选项“It’s important to think about why you set and pursue certain goals (思考你为什么设定和追求某些目标是很重要的)”解释了为何目标需要是个人有意义且自由选择的,因为这涉及到个人动机和目的,能承接上文,符合题意。故选D。 11. 由下文“Compared to overly generalized goals, specific goals are more likely to be achieved. Specific goals provide more mental reminders to keep you on track and help monitor personal progress towards a goal. The more specific a person’s goal plans are, the better. Luckily 33. subjects 34. studying 35. their 36. to experience 37. on/upon 【难度】0. 94 【知识点】学校生活、个人经历 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。 故填what。 30. 故填a。 31. 故填be finished。 32. stop doing sth. 故填their。 36. “主语+be+adj. 故填to experience。 37. 空处为固定短语look back on/upon,意为“回顾”。故填on/upon。 Dear Jonas _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Yours, Li Hua 【答案】Dear Jonas, Sorry to hear that you had trouble in getting used to the campus life here, I’m rather willing to give you some suggestions. First, you’d better participate in more activities, through which you’ll know more people and make friends with them easily. As for study, I recommend that you feel free to ask teachers and classmates for help when you are faced with difficulties. Not only will you get the warmest help, but also you can practice your oral Chinese. If you have any other question, feel free to ask me and I’ll always be there for you. Hope everything goes well. 词汇积累 困难:trouble→difficulty/obstacle/barrier 参加:join in→participate in 面对:face→confront 口语:speaking→oral 2. Sorry to hear that you had trouble in getting used to the campus life here, I’m rather willing to give you some suggestions. I’m rather willing to give you some suggestions because I am sorry to hear that you had trouble in getting used to the campus life here. 1】First, you’d better participate in more activities, through which you’ll know more people and make friends with them easily.
