B When Charlotte Liebling was in college, she volunteered at a store that sold secondhand goods. She observed that people brought items to donate, including stuffed toys Liebling could tell that the toys held great emotional value for their owners. So she felt sad when the toys were sold very cheaply, put in the dog-toy section, or thrown away. One night, when Liebling got home from work, she started doing some research. She realized that it wasn’t happening only in her town. Worldwide, she learned, millions of toys end up in landfills every year. “If we can change the view that the stuffed toys lose their value once they’ve been loved,” she recalls, “then we can show people that they have so much left in them, and give them to others.” That’s how the Loved Before, a toy-adoption agency, began. The process starts when someone donates a soft toy. The original owner writes down the name of the toy and a story about it. Liebling and her team believe that sharing what makes the toy unique helps potential new owners understand its value. Next, the toy is cleaned, photographed, and packaged with its name and story. Every Monday, toys are posted for adoption on the Loved Before website. The company makes a charitable donation of at least half of the profit from the sale of each toy. Since its creation in 2019, Loved Before has sold more than 50,000 stuffed toys. “But the company’s goal is more than just trying to save some toys from landfills,” Liebling says. “We are trying to change people’s views on a really wide level.” She explains that Loved Before hopes to teach kids “about the value of loving secondhand things again, in the hope that it will go far beyond the idea of teddy bears”. Loved Before is writing a new chapter in the life cycle of toys. 24.Why did Liebling feel sad about secondhand stuffed toys as a volunteer? A.They were not appreciated. B.They were priced quite high. C.They had no emotional value. D.Their owners couldn’t find them. 25.What does Liebling think is the key to saving used stuffed toys? A.Encouraging people to claim their lost toys. B.Persuading the original owners to keep them. C.Preventing them from being thrown into landfills. D.Making people realize their value can be passed on. 26.How does Loved Before highlight its toys? A.By offering appealing discounts. B.By including the toys’ history. C.By making up stories for them. D.By changing the toys’ appearance. 27.Which of the following can best describe Liebling? A.Ambitious and critical. B.Intelligent and firm. C.Innovative and caring. D.Adaptable and modest. C New parents often find it challenging to get sufficient rest, but for certain penguin species, the struggle is even more noticeable. Recent studies involving the use of brain wave-measuring devices on chinstrap penguins have revealed that these creatures take extremely brief naps, averaging only 4 seconds each. This behavior is repeated numerous times a day, accumulating to approximately 11 hours of micro sleeps which seem to keep the penguin parents for weeks. Niels Rattenborg, a sleep expert from the Max Planck Institute, conducted an 11-day study on King George Island near Antarctica, monitoring the sleep patterns of 14 adult chinstrap penguins. He observed that these penguins maintained constant wakefulness, blinking (眨眼睛) their eyes open and closed around the clock for several weeks. He also found that chinstrap penguins only slept for about four seconds at a time in order to safeguard their eggs and newborn chicks. Remarkably, despite such minimal sleep, they were still capable of effectively raising their babies. Typically, chinstrap penguins lay their eggs in November, constructing nests from small stones. Similar to many other penguin species, they share the responsibility of parenting. One parent remains on guard while the other goes off fishing for family meals. During the breeding season, adult penguins face few natural threats, but they must be wary of larger birds known as brown skuas, which hunt their eggs and chicks, as well as other penguins that may attempt to steal stones from their nests. “For these penguins, microsleeps serve as away to repair themselves and they are crucial for the penguins’ survival,” said Niels. While the study did not extend beyond the mating season, it is hypothesized that chinstrap penguins may engage in longer sleep periods at other times of the year. The scientific community is yet to determine whether the benefits of these microsleeps are equivalent to those gained from longer sleep duration, and it remains unclear if other penguin species exhibit similar sleep patterns. 28.What does the recent study on chinstrap penguins focus on? A.Sleeping patterns. B.Brain waves. C.Newborn nursing. D.Parenting style. 29.What is the primary reason for the penguins’ constant wakefulness? A.To keep exchanging with each other. B.To look out for threats to their young. C.To ensure they are always ready to hunt for food. D.To adapt to the weather conditions of Antarctica. 30.What does the underlined word “wary” in paragraph 3 mean? A.Critical. B.Guilty. C.Watchful. D.Fond. 31.What can be confirmed through the research? A.Chinstrap penguins’ sleeping habits vary with seasons. B.Microsleeps are a unique feature of chinstrap penguins. C.Chinstrap penguins have microsleeps just in the mating season. D.Microsleeps have restorative function for chinstrap penguins. D About six years ago I was eating lunch in a restaurant in New York City when a woman and a young boy sat down at the next table. I couldn’t help overhearing parts of their conversation. At one point the woman asked, “So, how have you been?” And the boy—who could not have been more than 7 or 8 years old — replied, “Frankly, I’ve been feeling a little depressed lately.” This incident stuck in my mind because it confirmed my growing belief that children are changing. As far as I can remember, my friends and I didn’t find out we were “depressed” until we were in high school. The evidence of a change in children has increased steadily in recent years. Children don’t seem childlike anymore. Children speak more like adults, dress more like adults and behave more like adults than they used to. Whether this is good or bad is difficult to say, but it is certainly different. Children as they once were on longer exists. Why? Human development is based not only on innate biological states, but also on patterns of access to social knowledge. Movement from one social route to another usually involves learning the secrets of the new status. Children have always been taught adult secrets, but slowly and in stages: traditionally, we tell sixth graders things we keep hidden from fifth graders. In the last 30 years, however, a secret-revelation machine has been installed in 98 percent of American homes. It is called television. Television passes information indiscriminately to all viewers alike, be they children or adults. Unable to resist the temptation, many children turn their attention from printed texts to the less challenging, more vivid moving pictures. Communication through print, as a matter of fact, allows for a great deal of control over the social information to which children have access. Reading and writing involve a complex code of symbols that must be memorized and practiced. Children must read simple books before they can read complex materials. 32.According to the author, feeling depressed is ________. A.a sure sign of a mental problem in children B.a mental state present in all humans, including children C.something that can’t be avoided in children’s mental development D.something hardly to be expected in a young child 33.Traditionally, a child is supposed to learn about the adult world _________. A.through connection with society B.gradually and under guidance C.naturally without being taught D.through watching television 34.What does the author think of communication through print for children? A.It enables children to gain more social information B.It develops children’s interest in reading and writing. C.It helps children to read and write well. D.It can control what children are to learn. 35.What does the author think of the change in today’s children? A.He feels their adultlike behavior is so funny B.He thinks the change worth our attention C.He considers it a rapid development D.He is extremely upset about it How to master tricky conversations at work Many of us struggle to say what we need to at work. Whether it’s asking for a pay rise or facing a co-worker over their behaviour, these conversations can be difficult to have without the other person getting angry. 36 . Here’s my tips on how to tackle your next difficult conversation.Plan First, you need to plan what you’re going to say. 37 . Write down what you want out of the conversation and be clear on what you want to happen as a result. For example, you may decide: “I want to get an agreement on deadlines for this project and a clear outline of who will be responsible for each task.”Prepare The second thing you need to do is write down the key messages you want to get across in the conversation. 38 . Remember to speak slowly, breathe. If you are particularly nervous, rehearse (排练) what you plan to say in front of a friend so you know you are coming across as you wish to.Be empathetic Finally, put yourself in the other person’s shoes — however annoying that person might be. The useless boss who never gives you feedback is simply struggling with her own workload. 39 , the more we can plan how to work with them towards a successful outcome. When you have the conversation, don’t get blind-sided by fast talkers. If the person you’re speaking to starts to avoid blame or your questioning, ask them what their part is in all of this and what they can take responsibility for. 40 . And finally, if you feel under pressure, remember to respond slowly rather than reacting quickly. A.Practise saying them out loud B.Start with the end result in mind C.The language you use is also important D.The more careful you’re with the language you use E.The more we can understand the other person’s worldview F.To manage your emotions during a difficult conversation, breathe deeply G.But not being able to have “that conversation” can hold you back in your career 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节 (共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 The polar bear was a tiny point in a frozen white world. First of all, uniforms help the school look smart. The students feel that they belong to a particular group. When every pupil in the school wears the uniform, nobody 56 (have) to worry about fashion(时尚). Everybody wears 57 same style of clothes. Uniforms can be useful in unexpected ways. A school in Ireland has introduced an interesting new uniform. On the edge of the jacket, there is a piece of cloth 58 gives off light in the dark. When the children are walking or 59 (cycle) to school on dark mornings, car drivers can 60 (easy) see them. But can uniforms help improve school standards? The answer 61 this question is not clear. One study in America found that students’ grades 62 (improve) a little after the school introduced uniforms. But some students didn’t want 63 (wear) the uniform. Other American studies showed no 64 (connect) between uniforms and school performance. School uniforms are 65 (tradition) in Britain, but some schools are starting to get rid of them. Some very good schools don’t have a uniform policy. However, uniforms are still popular. Pupils at about 90 percent of British secondary schools wear uniforms. The Scientist I Admire Most为主题写一篇演讲稿。 _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第二节(满分25分) 67. Jessica and the Necklace Jessica and her little sister Anna slipped into their Mum’s room. “I’m just going to try on me jewelry,” said Jessica. She took a necklace and tried to put it on her neck. “Oh, no,” said Anna. “Mum doesn’t like us playing with her stuff.” “OK, you are the lookout,” instructed Jessica. “Stand by the door and let me know if Mum comes up the stairs.” Before Anna reached the door, Rocky, the family’s dog, charged into the room and almost knocked Jessica down. The necklace went flying. It had barely hit the floor when Rocky bit it and raced off. “Rocky! Rocky!” yelled Jessica. “Anna, help me get the necklace back.” The girls chased Rocky. “Stop!” they yelled. Rocky dashed down the stairs and into the living room. He stopped just long enough for the girls to get close, and then took off again. “Stop!” yelled Jessica. “Anna, you go the other way. We’ll comer him in the dining room.” Jessica met Anna in the dining room. Sure enough, Rocky was there waiting for them. He was down low on his front legs with his tail in the air, ready to play. “Grab him!” screamed Jessica. Jut as Anna was about to grab him, Rocky took off again. “Stop, you are a troublemaker!” yelled Jessica as she raced after him. The girls got close again, but Rocky zoomed down the basement (地下室) stairs. The girls raced after him. “I don’t see him.” said Anna. Jessica scratched her head, “He’s got to be down here.” Just then, Mum called to the girls. “Jessica, what’s all the noise? What’s wrong? I heard you from the yard.” “Uh, oh,” whispered Jessica. “Uh… nothing is wrong,” she shouted back. Anna dashed upstairs. I wish I had been more involved in the sports clubs in high school. W: That’s true. We had some fun times in high school. M: I’m with you on that. Remember Mr. Robinson’s chemistry class that I had that funny accident? W: You mean that explosion in the experiment? M: Exactly. W: Luckily, no one got hurt. Well, you didn’t show up at our 10-year high school reunion, so I haven’t heard from you since graduation. M: Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to make it to the reunion. W: I see. Did you know that Nancy married Tom 2 years ago? M: That’s great. W: Do you still live in Houston now? M: No, I moved to San Antonio 8 years ago. What about you? W: I still live here in New York. 17.A 18.B 19.A 20.C 【原文】 W: School gardening has become very popular recently, with parents and teachers saying its hands-on lessons can be used to teach many subjects. Finding the money to keep a school garden going can be tough. Some experts and teachers, however, are finding creative ways to make it work. Susan Hobart is a retired elementary school teacher. She manages the school’s large garden with 12 raised beds. She said that the gardens help calm the kids and give them a whole different perspective they wouldn’t have just sitting at desks. Toby Adams directs the New York Botanical Garden’s Edible Academy, where schoolchildren learn about growing food. He said that school gardens can teach lessons in health, science, social studies and even arts classes. “For schools without space for even a small garden, turning to local botanical gardens and parks can sometimes be the answer,” Adams said. Ron Finley supports teaching city kids about seeds and growing. His non-profit Ron Finley Project aims to “change the culture around food”. Finley remembered being amazed as a boy when he witnessed how “a seed destroys itself to become food”. “Having a garden in a school is just as important as any other education,” Finley said. Finley used the term reverence, or honor or respect that is shown, when talking about gardening. “If kids respect soil, they’ll respect themselves and this planet. Gardening is not a hobby but a life skill. I see this as one of the most valuable lessons of humanity,” Finley said. 根据Blackpool下的“Whether you’re seeking the thrills of Blackpool Pleasure Beach or are keen to catch a glimpse of Blackpool Tower, the city’s most appealing attraction, the seaside town offers various amazing views.(无论你是想在布莱克浦游乐海滩寻找刺激,还是想一睹这座城市最吸引人的景点布莱克浦塔,这个海滨小镇都能提供各种令人惊叹的景色)”可知,布莱克浦最吸引人的是布莱克浦塔。故选B项。 22. 根据Searborough下的“While a one-night stay in Scarborough costs £85, the town offers holiday-makers opportunities to experience ancient British culture at the 12th-century castle ruins.(虽然在斯卡伯勒住一晚要85英镑,但在这个小镇上,度假者有机会在12世纪的城堡遗址中体验古代英国文化)”以及Swansea下的“Spending a night here costs just 10 pounds more than in Scarborough. But if you book a week earlier, you can get a 5 percent discount in total.(在这里住一晚只比在斯卡伯勒多花10英镑。但如果您提前一周预订,总共可以享受5%的折扣)”可知,游客在斯旺西住一晚至少要花(85+10)* (1 - 5%) = 90.25英镑。故选D项。 23.细节理解题。根据Blackpool下的“It’s no wonder the town has gained 980.8 million views on TikTok.(难怪这个小镇在TikTok上的点击量达到了9.808亿)”,Searborough下的“North Yorkshire’s Scarborough sees 49,500 monthly searches and 686.4 million views on TikTok.(北约克郡斯卡伯勒的TikTok月搜索量为4.95万次,观看量为6.864亿次)”,Swansea下的“The Welsh town sees 27,100 monthly searches and has 622.4 million views on TikTok.(这个威尔士小镇的月搜索量为27100次,TikTok的浏览量为6.224亿次)”以及Bournemouth下的“With a World Heritage Site within its borders, it’s no surprise to see this town with the high number of views on TikTok (868.3 million).(由于这里是世界遗产,所以这个小镇在TikTok上的点击量很高(8.683亿)也就不足为奇了)”可知,Blackpool有980.8 million views,是四个选项中最高的,而次高的是Bournemouth,有868.3 million views,排在第二。 根据文章第一段“She observed that people brought items to donate, including stuffed toys (毛绒玩具). Liebling could tell that the toys held great emotional value for their owners. So she felt sad when the toys were sold very cheaply, put in the dog-toy section, or thrown away.(她注意到人们会带来一些物品捐赠,包括毛绒玩具。利布林能够看出这些玩具对它们的主人来说有很大的情感价值。因此,当这些玩具被卖得很便宜、放在狗玩具区或被扔掉时,她感到很难过。)”可知,作为志愿者的Liebling对二手填充玩具感到难过是因为它们没有得到赏识。故选A。 25. 根据文章第二段““If we can change the view that the stuffed toys lose their value once they’ve been loved,” she recalls, “then we can show people that they have so much left in them, and give them to others.” That’s how the Loved Before, a toy-adoption agency, began.(她回忆道,“如果我们能改变毛绒玩具一旦被爱过就失去价值的看法,那么我们就可以向人们展示它们还剩下很多价值,并将它们送给别人。” 这就是玩具领养机构“Loved Before”的由来。)”可知,Liebling认为拯救二手毛绒玩具的关键是让人们意识到它们的价值可以传递下去,而不是仅仅停留在被丢弃或填埋的层面。故选D。 26.细节理解题。根据文章第四段“Next, the toy is cleaned, photographed, and packaged with its name and story. Every Monday, toys are posted for adoption on the Loved Before website. 根据第二段中“Niels Rattenborg, a sleep expert from the Max Planck Institute, conducted an 11-day study on King George Island near Antarctica, monitoring the sleep patterns of 14 adult chinstrap penguins.(马克斯普朗克研究所的睡眠专家尼尔斯·拉滕伯格在南极洲附近的乔治王岛进行了为期 11 天的研究,监测了 14 只成年帽带企鹅的睡眠模式)”可知,最近对帽带企鹅的研究重点是睡眠模式。故选A。 29. 根据第二段中“He observed that these penguins maintained constant wakefulness, blinking (眨眼睛) their eyes open and closed around the clock for several weeks. He also found that chinstrap penguins only slept for about four seconds at a time in order to safeguard their eggs and newborn chicks. (他观察到这些企鹅持续保持清醒状态,连续数周不停地眨眼睛。他还发现,帽带企鹅每次只睡大约四秒钟,以保护它们的蛋和新生的雏鸟)”可知,企鹅们时刻保持清醒的主要原因是为了警惕对幼崽的威胁。故选B。 30.词句猜测题。根据划线单词上文“Similar to many other penguin species, they share the responsibility of parenting. One parent remains on guard while the other goes off fishing for family meals. (与许多其他企鹅物种一样,它们共同承担养育子女的责任。父母一方负责看守,另一方则出去捕鱼为家人提供食物。)”和划线单词所在句中“During the breeding season, adult penguins face few natural threats, but they must be wary of larger birds known as brown skuas, which hunt their eggs and chicks, as well as other penguins that may attempt to steal stones from their nests.(在繁殖季节,成年企鹅面临的自然威胁很少,但它们必须wary体型较大的鸟类,比如棕色贼鸥,它们会捕食企鹅蛋和雏鸟,以及其他可能试图从企鹅巢里偷石头的企鹅)”可知,企鹅承担养育子女的责任,一方父母会照顾这些企鹅宝宝,所以它们必须要警惕那些体型较大的鸟类,以防这些鸟类会捕食企鹅蛋和雏鸟,同时它们也要警惕一些可能试图从企鹅巢里偷石头的企鹅,由此可推知,划线单词意为“警惕”,与C项watchful(警惕的)意思一样,故选C。 31. 根据最后一段中““For these penguins, microsleeps serve as away to repair themselves and they are crucial for the penguins’ survival,” said Niels.(“对于这些企鹅来说,微睡眠是它们自我修复的方式,对于它们的生存至关重要,”尼尔斯说。)” 根据文章第二段的“As far as I can remember, my friends and I didn’t find out we were “depressed” until we were in high school.(据我所能回忆起来的,我和我的朋友们直到高中才发现我们“抑郁了”。)” 根据文章第四段“Children have always been taught adult secrets, but slowly and in stages: traditionally, we tell sixth graders things we keep hidden from fifth graders.(孩子们一直被教导成人的秘密,但缓慢而分阶段:传统上,我们会告诉六年级学生我们对五年级学生隐瞒的事情。)” 根据文章最后一段的“Communication through print, as a matter of fact, allows for a great deal of control over the social information to which children have access.(事实上,通过印刷品进行交流,可以在很大程度上控制孩子们可以接触到的社会信息。)” 根据文章第三段“The evidence of a change in children has increased steadily in recent years. Children don’t seem childlike anymore. Children speak more like adults, dress more like adults and behave more like adults than they used to. Whether this is good or bad is difficult to say, but it is certainly different. Children as they once were on longer exists. 36.根据上文“Many of us struggle to say what we need to at work. Whether it’s asking for a pay rise or facing a co-worker over their behaviour, these conversations can be difficult to have without the other person getting angry. (我们中的许多人都很难说出我们在工作中需要什么。无论是要求加薪还是面对同事的行为,这些对话都很难在对方不生气的情况下进行。)”以及后文“Here’s my tips on how to tackle your next difficult conversation. (下面是我的建议,教你如何应对下一次棘手的对话)”可知,本句与上文构成转折,指出无法进行上文提到的对话,后文给出建议。故G选项“但是不能进行‘那种对话’会阻碍你的职业发展”符合语境,故选G。 37.根据上文“First, you need to plan what you’re going to say. (首先,你需要计划你要说什么)”以及后文“Write down what you want out of the conversation and be clear on what you want to happen as a result. For example, you may decide: “I want to get an agreement on deadlines for this project and a clear outline of who will be responsible for each task.”( 写下你想从谈话中得到什么,并明确你想要的结果。例如,你可能会决定:“我想在这个项目的最后期限上达成一致,并明确规定谁将负责每项任务。”)”可知,后文提到了明确想要的结果,即以结果为出发点。故B选项“以最终结果为出发点”符合语境,故选B。 38.根据上文“The second thing you need to do is write down the key messages you want to get across in the conversation. (你需要做的第二件事是写下你想要在对话中传达的关键信息。)”以及后文“Remember to speak slowly, breathe. If you are particularly nervous, rehearse (排练) what you plan to say in front of a friend so you know you are coming across as you wish to. (记住说慢点,呼吸。如果你特别紧张,那就在朋友面前排练一下你打算说什么,这样你就知道你给人的印象是你想说。)”可知,上文提到了写下信息,可知本句是说接下来要开始练习要说的内容。故A选项“练习大声说出来”符合语境,故选A。 39.根据后文“the more we can plan how to work with them towards a successful outcome. (我们就越能计划如何与他们一起取得成功。)”可知,后文提到了计划取得成功,说明本句是要互相理解。且E选项中The more与后文the more构成the+比较级,the+比较级句型。 40.根据上文“When you have the conversation, don’t get blind-sided by fast talkers. If the person you’re speaking to starts to avoid blame or your questioning, ask them what their part is in all of this and what they can take responsibility for. (当你和别人交谈时,不要被那些语速很快的人弄得措手不及。如果和你谈话的人开始逃避责备或你的问题,问问他们在这一切中扮演了什么角色,他们可以承担什么责任。)”以及后文“And finally, if you feel under pressure, remember to respond slowly rather than reacting quickly. (最后,如果你感到有压力,记住反应要慢,而不是反应要快。)”可知,上文提到不要被那些语速很快的人弄得措手不及,可知本句是在建议如何应对艰难的谈话。故F选项“在一场艰难的谈话中,要控制自己的情绪,深呼吸”符合语境,故选F。 41.C 42.D 43.A 44.B 45.D 46.C 47.B 48.A 49.C 50.A 51.C 52.A 53.D 54.B 55.D 【导语】这是一篇说明文。 A. easier更容易;B. larger较大的;C. closer更近的;D. darker较暗的。根据前文的“A film crew began to follow at a distance, gradually getting”和后文的“hoping to get a good picture”可知,摄制组开始在远处跟随,摄制组希望能拍出一张好照片,他们逐渐靠近。故选C项。 42. A. dig挖;B. dive潜水;C. jump跳跃;D. wait等待。根据前文的“the bear came to a rest at a hole in the ice and ”和后文的“For 12 hours the bear lay half asleep, half 3 without a move. ”可知,熊休息而且没动,故只有“等待”符合句意。故选D项。 43. 考查形容词词义辨析。句意:熊躺了12个小时,半睡半醒,一动也不动。A. awake清醒的;B. alive活的;C. aware意识到的;D. alone单独的。根据前文的“For 12 hours the bear lay half asleep”可知,熊半睡半醒。故选A项。 44. A. forward向前的;B. straight连续的;C. more更多;D. later后来。根据前文的“the crew had been working for 22 hours”可知,船员们在海冰上连续工作了22个小时。故选B项。 45. A. overcame战胜;B. forgot忘记;C. imagined想象;D. admitted承认。根据后文的“Hours of waiting for little reward is not 6 .” A. unnecessary不必要;B. uncertain不确定;C. uncommon罕见;D. unfortunate不幸的。根据后文的“It’s the price we pay to get unique images”可知,为获得独特图像而付出的代价是正常的。故选C项。 47. A. bonus奖金;B. battle战斗;C. chance机会;D. lesson课程。根据后文的“The battle is intense especially during winter:”可知,对他们来说拍摄就是战斗。故选B项。 48. A. My topic is The Scientist I Admire Most. For me, the scientist must be Yuan Longping, the Father of Hybrid Rice. Born in a poor family in 1930, Yuan had a strong will to tackle the hunger crisis when he was young. Thanks to his research in hybrid rice, the rice production was greatly improved, ridding the world of hunger. His extraordinary contributions and valuable qualities have left a profound impression on me. It is he that makes me realize that only with devotion and perseverance can we overcome difficulties. In my eyes, he was not only a scientist, but also a pioneer for all people. That’s all. Thanks for your listening. The Scientist I Admire Most为主题写一篇演讲稿,参加学校举办的英语演讲比赛。 词汇积累 处理:tackle→deal with 由于:thanks to→due to 意识到:realize→be aware of 克服:overcome→get over 2. For me, the scientist must be Yuan Longping, the Father of Hybrid Rice. For me, the scientist must be Yuan Longping, who is the Father of Hybrid Rice. 【点睛】[高分句型1] Thanks to his research in hybrid rice, the rice production was greatly improved, ridding the world of hunger.(运用了现在分词作状语) [高分句型2] It is he that makes me realize that only with devotion and perseverance can we overcome difficulties.(运用了强调句,that引导宾语从句) 67. “Jessica!” said Mum. “Up here right now.” Hurrying upstairs, Jessica could feel her blood rushing to her face. While she was struggling to find an excuse, Mum’s voice broke in. “Where is he now?” asked Mum, with arms crossed. Not daring to look into Mum’s eyes, Jessica just pointed to the basement as a reply. The three remained silent, wondering how to get the necklace back. Suddenly, an idea flashed across Jessica’s mind. She went straight to the kitchen counter and took some snacks. “I know what to do. Just come with me.” she smiled. Jessica went into the basement with the snacks, Mum and Anna following. “Rocky,” called Jessica, “I’ve got a treat for you.” In no time, Rocky appeared at Jessica’s feet, with his tail swinging up and down. Just at that moment, Jessica grabbed his collar and pulled the necklace from his mouth. Handing the necklace to Mum, Jessica apologized, “Sorry, Mum. I shouldn’t have touched your stuff. I’m the troublemaker.” Jessica hung her head, overwhelmed with guilt, while Rocky was pushing Mom softly to pet him. “As long as you admit your fault,” said Mum gently, patting her girls and the little “troublemaker”. 3. 词汇激活 行为类 ①找到:find/discover ②保持:remain/keep ③想到主意:flash across one’s mind/come into one’s mind 情绪类 ①内疚:guilt/compunction ②温柔地:gently/softly 【点睛】[高分句型1]While she was struggling to find an excuse, Mum’s voice broke in.(while引导的时间状语从句) [高分句型2]In no time, Rocky appeared at Jessica’s feet, with his tail swinging up and down.(with引导的复合结构) 答案第1页,共2页 答案第1页,共2页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$null
