Chemistry of Sports The course is designed to look at the science of sports from a chemical biological point of view. We will be able to use our own bodies to see how exercise affects the system. We will also improve the overall fitness of the class through maintaining a physical fitness program over the course of the term. The end of the course will have us all participate in a football match. Writing about Sports In this introductory writing class, we consider the role of sports in our own lives and explore the cultural meanings of sports. We’ll read writers on the joys. The primary work of the class is to improve students’ communication skills. We’ll write and revise 3 essays. Revising is the most important part of the class and all essays will be revised at least once. The Art and Boat Design The course teaches the basic steps in traditional boat design and demonstrates connections between craft and modern methods. Instructors provide ship design direction and then students carve their own shape ideas in the form of a wooden half-hull (半船体) model. The final phase of the class is a project that compares the generated designs in groups. Reading Poetry: Social Poetics The central concern of this class is the historical relationship between the social lives of everyday people and poetics. How does poetry help us to know one another? And how might we better understand the particular role of poetry? For this course, these will be some of our questions. 1.What is stressed in the Writing about Sports? A.The fitness of students. Passage3.No matter how many steps you take each day, your health benefits add up. But those who take 7,000 steps a day may be adding years to their lives. New research found that middle-aged adults who took that many steps daily were up to 70 percent less likely to die at a younger-than-expected age than those whose movement totalled fewer than 7,000 steps a day. The study, which involved 2,110 middle-aged adults who wore a step-counting device and then were tracked for nearly 1l years, was published in the journal JAMA Network Open. How fast participants walked (referred to as their step intensity) did not affect their mortality risk. Rather, those who walked more lived longer. The researchers found, however, that taking more than 10,000 steps a day—the number often cited as a daily goal for health—produced no further drop in mortality risk. Physical activity like walking is considered one of the most important things people can do to improve their well-being, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. A former CDC director described physical activity as the closest thing we have to a wonder drug. Among its benefits, walking can reduce risk for high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and depression and it can help control weight and improve sleep. It is considered good for your bones, muscles, heart and brain. Although walking is considered safe for most people, those who have any concerns should check with their doctor before starting any new physical activity routine. For adults generally, national guidelines focus on time spent on an activity rather than number of steps, recommending 150 minutes a week of proper activity such as walking. 1.What is the discovery of the new research? A.Middle-aged adults are more worried about their health. B.Middle-aged men taking 7000 steps a day may live longer. C.How fast we walked could have an effect on our fitness. D.Taking 10000 steps a day is better than 7000 steps for health. 2.What does the underlined phrase in paragraph 2 mean? A.Death rate. B.Living quality. C.Health benefits. D.Physical activity. 3.What can we learn from the text? A.Physical activity can take the place of drugs gradually. B.Walking has more benefits over other forms of exercise C.It is suggested that adults walk at most 150 mins a week D.You’d better ask your doctor if worried about new exercise. 4.In which column of a newspaper can we find this text? A.Fashion. B.Health. C.Opinion. D.Sports. Passage4.The first time I realized that I had a love for sports competitions was during the Field Day in elementary school. Small for my age, and more of a bookworm than a sports lover, I had suffered that special humiliation of being picked last for various gym teams. The Field Day, which focused on individual (个体的) skills, was different. In the Softball Throw event, I got my first taste of sporting victory. Credit goes to the example of my first coach, my father. He lifted weights every morning at home. He bought us all baseball gloves and hats, and in the warm months, we spent hours playing catch. Once I got to sixth grade and switched to private school, our entire student body was assigned to either the Red or the White team. Throughout the year, we competed against each other in various games and exercises for points. I eventually became president of The Committee of Games. I also played on the field hockey team and the basketball team. And at home, playing tennis, skating, skiing and biking were simply normal things we did. During the break time, magazines were also quite popular for us teens. These regularly featured articles on physical exercise. Somehow, my college roommate and I took up the habit of completing Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) exercises every day, a practice that continued into my marriage, when we had no spare money to use to join a gym. So, though it shocks some of our friends, that early foundation (基础) continue in adulthood into a sports and fitness focus, considered important even on vacation. I still love reading and the arts, too. As far as I’m concerned, life is the richest with my feet in both worlds. 1.What does the underlined word “humiliation” mean in Paragraph 1? A.Responsibility. B.Shock. C.Shame. D.Glory. 2.The author thought she won in the Softball Throw event because of ______. A.her confidence in her sports skills. B.the efforts she put into exercising. C.her advanced sports gloves and hats. D.the strong influence of her father. 3.What happened after the author stepped into adulthood? A.She changed the focus into reading. B.She stuck to working out. C.She regularly exercised on weekends. D.She joined Royal Canadian Air Force. 4.What could be a suitable title for the passage? A.Sports, my love for life. B.Father, my guide in sports. C.The benefits I get from physical sports. D.My unforgettable childhood with sports. Passage5.Mounting evidence suggests that longtime sitting — a main part of modern-day life — is risky to your health, even if you exercise regularly. Based on these findings, doctors advise all adults to sit less and move more. But how often do we need to get up from our chairs? And for how long? Few studies have compared multiple options to come up with the answer most office workers want: What is the least amount of activity needed to counteract the health effects of a workday filled with sitting? Now a study by Columbia University exercise physiologists has an answer. Unlike other studies that test one or two activity options, the study tested five different exercise “snacks”, or short bursts of activity after a period of time’s sitting: one minute of walking after every 30 minutes of sitting, one minute after 60 minutes, five minutes every 30, five minutes every 60 and no walking. The proper amount of movement, the researchers found, was five minutes of walking every 30 minutes. This was the only amount that greatly lowered both blood sugar and blood pressure. In addition, this walking routine had an impressive effect on how the participants responded to large meals, reducing blood sugar spikes (峰值) by 58% compared with sitting all day. Taking a walking break every 30 minutes for one minute also provided modest benefits for blood sugar levels throughout the day, while walking every 60 minutes, either for one minute or five minutes, provided no benefit. What we know now is that for best health, you need to move regularly at work, in addition to a daily exercise routine. While that may sound impractical, the findings show that even small amounts of walking spread through the work day can greatly lower your risk of heart disease and other chronic (慢性的) illnesses. 1.What does the study by Columbia University focus on? A.What adults should do to keep exercising regularly. B.When and where we need to sit less and move more. C.Why longtime sitting every day is risky to our health. D.How often and how long we need to walk from our chairs. 2.What does the underlined word “counteract” in paragraph 2 probably mean? A.Reduce. B.Strengthen. C.Add. D.Benefit. 3.Which walking pattern is the MOST useful for health according to the text? A.One minute of walking after every 30 minutes of sitting. B.Five minutes of walking after every 30 minutes of sitting. C.One minute of walking after every 60 minutes of sitting. D.Five minutes of walking after every 60 minutes of sitting. 4.What does the last paragraph show? A.The risks of heart disease and other illnesses. B.The daily exercise routine suitable for everyone. C.The suggestions on the health of the office staff. D.The ways of moving regularly at work every day. Passage6.The sun had yet to come up in Edmonton, Alberta, and it was more than 20 degrees below zero. Tanis Smith put on her clothes anyway, ready to run up and down hundreds of stairs among the trees in the Saskatchewan River Valley. When she arrived at 6 a. m. , 10 other people joined her. It wouldn’t be the last time they risked freezing their feet off to get in a workout before the rest of the world wakes up. “You’re pretty much just putting everything on, leaving only your eyes uncovered. So if you look at the pictures, it is hard to know who you are unless you remember what you were wearing,” said Tanis. Since that winter of 2013, Tanis has rarely missed a workout with the group, called November Project, a network of free outdoor group exercise classes. No matter the month or weather, participants roll out of bed before dawn at least once a week and protect their faces from the freezing cold. Workouts in the classes begin with easy sports. To show the idea that exercise can be interesting, they include Easter egg hunt, an event you play in your childhood. In the game, you search for plastic eggs. Open them to find commands (指令) that could be, walk like a monkey, or pull grass. Members are advised to find a workout teammate. They make a promise to show up, and there is a sense of letting down your teammates if you don’t. “There’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing,” Tanis said. The cloth should breathe freely and take in sweat (汗) , which will help keep you warm and dry. Avoid cotton, which keeps sweat in contact with your body and will make you colder. And add a top wind- breaking jacket. One of the things Tanis appreciates most about the project is its social part. She called it “a chosen family” that was formed partly because they were having fun while exercising. 1.Why is it hard for the author to recognize herself in the pictures? A.It is too dark to see clearly. B.She dresses the same way as others. C.She was almost completely covered. D.It was too cold to take a good picture. 2.Why is Easter egg hunt included in the sports? A.To help warm up. B.To add fun. C.To attract more kids. D.To get more exercise. 3.What is the advantage of having a workout teammate? A.Learning more sport skills. B.Avoiding giving up halfway. C.Increasing the variety of workout. D.Becoming better at communication. 4.What is Paragraph 6 mainly about? A.Tips on choosing clothing. B.Importance of keeping warm. C.Influence of weather on sports. D.Points about doing sports safely. Passage7.After bikes and umbrellas are made sharable across China, some companies started eyeing the fitness market, so shared gym rooms have hit the streets in Beijing. Unlike common gyms that provide large, open spaces for many members to share at the same time, the newly built shared gym rooms are small, stand-alone (独立的) rooms for a person to use, often set up near living communities. Every four-square-meter room provides a treadmill (跑步机), an air cleaner, a mirror, a television and an air conditioner, and users can let down the curtains (窗帘) for privacy. When exercising, users can listen to music, watch movies and check emails by connecting to the Internet by the screen fixed on the treadmill. But there’s no shower. Similar to using a shared bike, users can locate (定位) a shared gym room by a smartphone app, book a room ahead of schedule and then need to scan a QR code (二维码) for use. A refundable deposit (保证金) of 99 yuan is required, and users are charged 1 yuan every 5 minutes. The shared gym rooms are created by Misspao, a Beijing-based technology company founded in July. Within several months since it was founded, the company has already raised over 100 million yuan. However, the idea of the shared fitness experience is not totally nascent. Last December, the company VRUN set up shared treadmills in office and apartment buildings. The sharing economy is still becoming popular in China. According to Yicai Global, confident people are pouring millions into sharing start-ups. In March, the State Information Center published a report which predicts that the total value of China’s sharing economy will see a yearly growth of 40% in the coming years, and it is expected to make a great contribution to the country’s GDP. 1.What makes the shared gym room different from the common one? A.Holding one person at a time. B.Standing in the living zone. C.Offering open spaces. D.Having some advanced equipment. 2.What do people need to do to use the shared gym room? A.Let down curtains for privacy. B.Pay 100 yuan first. C.Use a smartphone to book a room ahead of time. D.Have a shower before exercise. 3.What does the underlined word “nascent” in paragraph 5 mean? A.Simple. B.Popular. C.Satisfying. D.New. 4.What is the author’s purpose of writing the text? A.To advertise a technology company. B.To introduce shared gym rooms. C.To support the shared gym rooms. D.To point out the weaknesses of shared gym rooms. Passage8.Adults who continuously played organized sports through their youth have fewer symptoms of anxiety and depression than those who never played or those who dropped out, a new study finds. “And those who dropped out of sports had poorer mental health than those who never played at all. But many more people drop out of youth sports than play continuously until they are 18.” said Chris Knoester, professor of sociology at The Ohio State University. “If you play and stick with sports, it’s a positive for your mental health, but if you play and drop out it seems to be negative — and most kids drop out,” Knoester said. The study showed that most people dropped out of sports because they weren’t having fun or felt they weren’t good enough. “That suggests ways youth sports can be improved to help kids,” said study lead author Laura Upenieks. “Our findings about why kids drop out of organized sports suggest that the current environment is less than ideal for everyone, and that the barriers to participation need to be given greater attention,” Upenieks said. “It is easy to see why sports can be good for those who are able to continue with it to adulthood,” Upenieks said. “The longer that youth are exposed to a positive and encouraging sporting environment, the more likely they are to develop habits that are conducive to long-term mental well-being, such as a commitment to regular exercise and collaborating with others as part of a team.” The fact that so many kids quit shows that organized sports often don’t provide a positive environment. But there are steps adults can take to improve that environment. For one, sports should be safe for kids. The researchers said the fact that 8% said they were badly treated by coaches is particularly alarming. “And the finding that nearly half of kids quit because they weren’t having fun and about a third dropped out because they felt they weren’t good enough should also be a wake-up call,” Knoester said. “We need to improve youth sports so that it supports positive experiences for everyone and makes it more enjoyable,” he said. 1.What can we say about dropping out of sports? A.It has no impact on physical health. B.It’s of benefit to mental health. C.It keeps players playing into adulthood. D.It is worse for mental health than never playing. 2.What is one of the main reasons for kids dropping out of sports? A.They don’t get joy from exercise. B.They prefer individual activities. C.They are not physically fit enough. D.They are not academically related. 3.What can adults do to prevent the youth quitting sports? A.They can reduce the number of coaches. B.They can supply a secure environment for kids. C.They can change the rules of sports. D.They can provide more training partners. 4.What might Upenieks agree with? A.The reason kids quit sports needn’t to be taken into consideration. B.The benefits and drawbacks of playing youth sports should be balanced. C.The youth sports have an impact on long-term mental health. D.Youth sports programs have both challenges and solutions. Passage9.With the arrival of winter, the world is covered in a sheet of shining snow, and it brings an invitation to take part in exciting snow sports. Beyond the great wonderland and the great joy of sliding down hills, attending winter sports offers many physical, mental, and social benefits. Taking part in winter snow sports is an excellent way to stay physically active during the colder months. Whether you’re skiing down a mountainside, or skiing along peaceful paths, these activities provide a full-body workout. Downhill skiing, for example, is known as a way to burn a lot of calories, making it an effective cardiovascular (心血管的) exercise. The combination of cardiovascular health and strength training can help keep a healthy weight, improve cardiovascular health, and keep overall physical health. The connection between outdoor activities and mental health is well-established, and winter sports are no exception. The fresh mountain air, the amazing snowy hills, and the excitement of rushing down the hill all help to improve the feelings. Snow sports also get you in natural sunlight, which helps increase Vitamin D levels. Winter sports offer more than just personal physical and mental benefits— they create chances for social liaison and community building. Whether you’re hitting the hills with friends, joining a ski club, or taking a family snowboarding trip, these activities form a sense of friendship. Shared experiences on the mountain create lasting memories and strengthen social ties, developing a sense of belonging. The benefits of winter snow sports spread far beyond the excitement of downhill drops. Winter activities not only keep you physically fit but also benefit your mental well-being and provide chances for social communication. Winter wonderland is waiting for you, promising a season full of joy, health, and unforgettable experiences. Passage10.Exercising regularly not only helps you keep slim, but also improves your overall health and well-being. Different exercises produce different results, as they focus on alternate parts of the body. There are four broad exercise categories: endurance, strength, flexibility, and balance. Many people often only focus on one exercise type, but including all four in your workout will produce better results and reduce your risk of injury. Endurance Endurance exercises increase your breathing and heart rate. By doing endurance exercises, you are working to keep your heart, lungs, and blood-flow system healthy while improving your total fitness. Over time these activities will make everyday activities seem easier. Strength If you want to build up your muscles, then strength exercises, which are also known as “resistance training”, are right for you. Even the slightest increase in strength can make a huge difference in your ability to carry out daily tasks. Developing strong muscles also reduces your risk of weak bones. Flexibility Flexibility exercises help stretch your body’s muscles. This allows for more freedom of movement for other exercises and can also improve your range of motion, posture, ability to breathe deeply, and blood flow. Also, it reduces the muscle tension caused by stress. Balance Balance exercises help prevent falls and are especially important to older adults, helping them stay independent. Most good balance exercises are ones that keep you constantly moving with your feet on the ground. Heel-to-toe walking and standing on one foot are simple ways to improve balance. 1.How can a person benefit most from their exercise routine? A.By having enough rest between their works. B.By concentrating on one training aspect at a time. C.By increasing the frequency of their training gradually. A.Fashion. B.Health. C.Opinion. D.Sports. 根据第二段“New research found that middle-aged adults who took that many steps daily were up to 70 percent less likely to die at a younger-than-expected age than those whose movement totalled fewer than 7,000 steps a day.(一项新的研究发现,每天走那么多步的中年人比每天走不到7000步的中年人死于比预期更早的年龄的可能性要低70%)”可知,这项新研究的发现是每天走7000步的中年男性可能更长寿。故选B。 2. 故选A。 3. 由第三段中的“Although walking is considered safe for most people, those who have any concerns should check with their doctor before starting any new physical activity routine.(虽然步行对大多数人来说是安全的,但如果有任何疑虑,在开始任何新的日常体育活动之前,人们应该咨询医生)”可知,如果你对新运动感到担心,最好咨询一下医生。故选D。 4. 通读全文,尤其是第二段“New research found that middle-aged adults who took that many steps daily were up to 70 percent less likely to die at a younger-than-expected age than those whose movement totalled fewer than 7,000 steps a day.(一项新的研究发现,每天走那么多步的中年人比每天走不到7000步的中年人死于比预期更早的年龄的可能性要低70%)”和第三段“Physical activity like walking is considered one of the most important things people can do to improve their well-being, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.(据美国疾病控制与预防中心称,像散步这样的体育活动被认为是人们可以做的最重要的事情之一,以改善他们的健康)”可知,本文主要讲的是一项新的研究发现每天走7000步能延长中年人的寿命以及散步的好处,因此可以在报纸的健康专栏找到这篇文章。故选B。 Passage4.The first time I realized that I had a love for sports competitions was during the Field Day in elementary school. 根据划线词所在句“Small for my age, and more of a bookworm than a sports lover, I had suffered that special humiliation of being picked last for various gym teams.(对于我的年龄来说,我个子小,与其说我是个运动爱好者,不如说我是个书虫,我遭受了被各种体育队最后挑选的特殊humiliation)”中“being picked last for various gym teams”可知,作者因为个子小且更像个书虫而总是被各种体育队最后挑选,这应该会让她感到难为情或羞愧。 根据第一段中“Credit goes to the example of my first coach, my father. He lifted weights every morning at home. He bought us all baseball gloves and hats, and in the warm months, we spent hours playing catch.(这要归功于我的第一位教练,我父亲。他每天早上在家举重。他给我们买了棒球手套和帽子,在温暖的月份,我们花了几个小时玩接球)”可知,作者认为她在Softball Throw比赛中获胜是因为她父亲对她的影响。故选D项。 3.细节理解题。根据最后一段中“So, though it shocks some of our friends, that early foundation (基础) continue in adulthood into a sports and fitness focus, considered important even on vacation.(所以,尽管这让我们的一些朋友感到震惊,但那个早期的基础在成年后延续了对体育和健身的关注,即使在度假时也被认为是重要的)”可知,作者步入成年后,依然坚持体育锻炼。故选B项。 4. 通读全文,结合第一段中“The first time I realized that I had a love for sports competitions was during the Field Day in elementary school.(我第一次意识到自己对体育比赛的热爱是在小学的田径日)”和最后一段中“So, though it shocks some of our friends, that early foundation (基础) continue in adulthood into a sports and fitness focus, considered important even on vacation.(所以,尽管这让我们的一些朋友感到震惊,但那个早期的基础在成年后延续了对体育和健身的关注,即使在度假时也被认为是重要的)”可知,文章主要讲述了作者从小时候对体育不感兴趣到爱上体育运动,再到成年后依然坚持体育锻炼的经历。A项“Sports, my love for life(体育,我对生活的热爱)”能够概括文章主旨,适合作为文章标题。故选A项。 Passage5.Mounting evidence suggests that longtime sitting — a main part of modern-day life — is risky to your health, even if you exercise regularly. 根据第一段“But how often do we need to get up from our chairs? And for how long?(但是我们需要多久从椅子上站起来一次呢?持续多久?)”和第三段“Now a study by Columbia University exercise physiologists has an answer.(现在,哥伦比亚大学运动生理学家的一项研究给出了答案。)” 根据第一段“Mounting evidence suggests that longtime sitting — a main part of modern-day life — is risky to your health(越来越多的证据表明,长时间坐着——现代生活的一个主要部分——对你的健康有风险)”及第二段划线单词的句子“Few studies have compared multiple options to come up with the answer most office workers want: What is the least amount of activity needed to counteract the health effects of a workday filled with sitting?(很少有研究对多种选择进行比较,以得出大多数上班族想要的答案:为了counteract久坐的工作日对健康的影响,最少的活动量是多少?)” 故选A。 3. 根据第四段“The proper amount of movement, the researchers found, was five minutes of walking every 30 minutes.(研究人员发现,适当的运动量是每30分钟步行5分钟。)” 根据最后一段“What we know now is that for best health, you need to move regularly at work, in addition to a daily exercise routine.(我们现在所知道的是,为了获得最佳健康,除了日常锻炼外,你还需要在工作中定期运动。)” C。 Passage6.The sun had yet to come up in Edmonton, Alberta, and it was more than 20 degrees below zero. 由文章第二段中Tanis所说的话“You’re pretty much just putting everything on, leaving only your eyes uncovered. So if you look at the pictures, it is hard to know who you are unless you remember what you were wearing (你基本上把所有东西都穿上了,只露出眼睛。所以如果你看照片,就很难知道你是谁,除非你记得你穿了什么)”可知,在照片中很难认出作者自己是因为她几乎被完全包裹住了。故选C项。 2.细节理解题。由文章第四段中“To show the idea that exercise can be interesting, they include Easter egg hunt, an event you play in your childhood. (为了展示锻炼也可以很有趣的想法,他们加入了复活节彩蛋寻找活动,这是一个你在童年时会玩的游戏)”可知,复活节彩蛋寻找活动被包括在运动中是为了增加乐趣。故选B项。 3.推理判断题。由文章第五段中“Members are advised to find a workout teammate. They make a promise to show up, and there is a sense of letting down your teammates if you don’t. (建议成员们找一个锻炼伙伴。他们承诺会出现,如果你没有出现,就会有一种让你的队友失望的感觉)”可知,有锻炼伙伴的好处是可以避免半途而废。故选B项。 4.主旨大意题。由文章第六段中Tanis所说的话““There’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing,” Tanis said. The cloth should breathe freely and take in sweat (汗) , which will help keep you warm and dry. Avoid cotton, which keeps sweat in contact with your body and will make you colder. And add a top wind- breaking jacket. (“没有坏天气这回事,只有衣服不好,” Tanis说。布料应该透气,吸汗,这将帮助你保持温暖和干燥。避免使用棉质衣物,因为棉质衣物会使汗水与身体接触,使你感到更冷。再加一件防风夹克。)”可知,本段主要讲的是关于选择衣服的技巧。故选A项。 Passage7.After bikes and umbrellas are made sharable across China, some companies started eyeing the fitness market, so shared gym rooms have hit the streets in Beijing. 根据第二段内容“Unlike common gyms that provide large, open spaces for many members to share at the same time, the newly built shared gym rooms are small, stand-alone (独立的) rooms for a person to use, often set up near living communities. (与为许多成员同时共享提供大型开放空间的普通健身房不同,新建的共享健身房是供一个人使用的小型独立房间,通常建在生活社区附近。)”可知,普通健身房为许多成员同时共享提供大型开放空间,共享健身房是供一个人使用的小型独立房间,由此可知,共享健身房与普通健身房的区别是一次容纳一个人。故选A项。 2. 根据第四段关键句“Similar to using a shared bike, users can locate (定位) a shared gym room by a smartphone app, book a room ahead of schedule and then need to scan a QR code (二维码) for use. (与使用共享单车类似,用户可以通过智能手机应用程序定位共享健身房,提前预订房间,然后需要扫描二维码才能使用。)”可知,用户需要通过智能手机应用程序定位共享健身房,提前预订房间,然后需要扫描二维码才能使用,由此可知,人们需要使用智能手机提前预订房间才能使用共享健身房。故选C项。 3.词句猜测题。根据画线单词下文“Last December, the company VRUN set up shared treadmills in office and apartment buildings. (去年12月,VRUN公司在办公楼和公寓楼设立了共享跑步机。)”可知,去年12月,VRUN公司在办公楼和公寓楼设立了共享跑步机,由此可知,共享健身体验的想法并不是完全新的,“New”意为“新的”,能够表达画线单词在句中的意思。故选D项。 4.推理判断题。通读全文,结合第一段内容“After bikes and umbrellas are made sharable across China, some companies started eyeing the fitness market, so shared gym rooms have hit the streets in Beijing. 根据第一段中“And those who dropped out of sports had poorer mental health than those who never played at all.(那些退出体育运动的人比那些从未参加过体育运动的人心理健康状况更差)”可知,退出体育运动对心理健康来说比未参加的更糟糕。故选D项。 2. 根据第二段中“The study showed that most people dropped out of sports because they weren’t having fun or felt they weren’t good enough.(研究表明,大多数人退出体育运动是因为他们没有乐趣,或者觉得自己不够好)”可知,孩子们退出体育运动的主要原因之一是他们不能从运动中得到快乐。故选A项。 3. 根据倒数第三段“The fact that so many kids quit shows that organized sports often don’t provide a positive environment.
