2. 基数词的常见用法
(1)表示确数和概数
①表示确切的数量
hundred、thousand、million等词与具体的数字one、two等连用时,不加-s。如:five hundred people 五百人 two thousand books 两千本书
②表示不确切的数量
hundred、thousand、million等词与of连用时,要用复数形式,但前面不能再加数字。如: thousands of students 成千上万的学生 hundreds of years 数百年(★2023年短文填空考)

(2)数词构成复合形容词
①“基数词+名词(单数)”,且数词和名词之间要用连字符(-)连接。如:
one-child 独生子女的 two-week 两周的 three-body 三体的
②“基数词+名词(单数)+形容词”,且数词、名词和形容词之间要用连字符(-)连接。如: three-year-old 三岁的 six-foot-wide 六英尺宽的 nine-meter-tall 九米高的

(3)表示年龄
①基数词(+ year(s) old),如:My son is four (years old). 我的儿子4岁。
②at the age of +基数词,如:My son is at the age of four.我的儿子4岁。
③基数词-year-old(作定语),如:That four-year-old boy is my son.那个4岁的男孩是我的儿子。
④in + one’s + 整十的基数词的复数形式,如:
The man began to learn English in his thirties.这个男人三十多岁时开始学英语。

(4)表示日期、年代
①表示日期。年用基数词,日用序数词,如:on January 2nd, 2024 在2024年1月2日
②表示年代。in the 年份+ s,如:in the 1970s 在20世纪70年代

① 分钟≤30,用“分钟数+ past +整点数”表示

注意:一个半小时(星期、月),一天(年)半:
one hour (week, month, day, year) and a half = one and a half hours (weeks, months, days, years)
(6)表示编号
名词+基数词= the +序数词+名词

(7)表示倍数、频率
①表示倍数。once 一倍 twice 两倍 基数词+ times 三倍或三倍以上
②表示频率。four times a day 一天四次 three days a week一周三天

(8)表示小数、百分数
①小数:一般用阿拉伯数字表示。(读法:小数点读作point。小数点前按照基数词的读法读,小数点后的数按个位数基数词依次读出。)如:
82.39读作:eighty-two point three nine
②百分数:用“基数词+ percent”表示,percent没有复数形式。如:
sixty-eight percent 68%

③20-90整十数的序数词由相应的基数词去y加-ieth构成 forty—fortieth (40th)
④21-99非整十数的序数词只需把相应的基数词的个位数变为序数词 twenty-one—twenty-first (21st)
基变序,有规律,结尾要加-th;1,2,3 特殊记,结尾各为t,d,d;8少t,九去e,ve要用f替;遇y变成i和e,结尾再加-th;若是遇到几十几,只变个位就可以。
2. 序数词的常见用法
(1)表示顺序时,序数词前必须加the,其后接单数可数名词。如:on the third floor 在三楼
(2)序数词前不用the的情况
①序数词前有形容词性物主代词或名词所有格时,省略冠词。如:my second time 我的第二次
②序数词用于固定搭配时。如:first of all 首先
③序数词修饰谓语动词时省略the。如:
The team ranks first in its country.该队在其国家排名第一。

(3)序数词前也可加a 或an,表示“又一;再一”。如:a second chance 再一次机会
(4)表示分数。分子用基数词,分母用序数词;分子大于1时,分母加-s。如:two thirds 2/3
(5)表示世纪。in the +序数词+ century,如:in the fifteenth century在15世纪
