Library visitors. B. Library assistants. C. Library managers. C 19. A 20. Hello, everyone. I have to announce with a heavy heart that our beloved library will close its doors after you leave today. This decision was not made lightly. The board of directors thought that it was necessary for the following reasons. For starters, the rise of modern technology has resulted in fewer visitors to the library. People turn to online resources more often. Second, the cost of running the library has become too high due to its structural repairs and outdated services. Third, the library collection has become out of date. With a limited budget, we have found it difficult to keep a collection that can meet your needs. Our library had quite a long history and first came into use on March 29th, 1954. Over the years, it has built up a collection of nearly 10,000 books. It is a sad day for us, but the decision has been made. We really hope to see you again someday. A Quality Inn Midtown Quality Inn Midtown hotel is located in Savannah, GA. 根据Quality Inn Midtown部分中“It offers a fitness center, an outdoor pool, hot continental breakfasts. Some other free services at the hotel include microwaves, refrigerators, coffee makers, and high-speed Wi-Fi.(它提供一个健身中心,一个室外游泳池,热的欧式早餐。酒店的其他一些免费设施包括微波炉、冰箱、咖啡机和高速Wi-Fi)”;Inn at Mulberry Grove部分中“It’s located off I-95 in Savannah Georgia and all of the hotel guests will get free parking, free Wi-Fi and a free wonderful breakfast.(酒店位于乔治亚州萨凡纳95号州际公路旁,所有入住酒店的客人都可以免费停车、免费无线上网和免费早餐)”;Baymont Inn & Suites Garden City部分中“This hotel offers all of its guests the use of free Wi-Fi, a nice continental breakfast every morning, free parking, an outdoor pool and free bus service to the city center.(这家酒店为所有客人提供免费无线网络连接、每天早上美味的欧陆式早餐、免费停车场、室外游泳池和前往市中心的免费巴士服务)”以及The Brice A Kimpton Hotel部分中“The property features a fitness center, on-site bike rental, spa, free Wi-Fi, local breakfast and an outdoor pool.(该酒店设有健身中心,现场自行车租赁,水疗中心,免费Wi-Fi,当地早餐和室外游泳池)”可知,这四所酒店的共同之处是它们都提供早餐和免费的无线网络。 根据Baymont Inn & Suites Garden City部分中“This hotel offers all of its guests the use of free Wi-Fi, a nice continental breakfast every morning, free parking, an outdoor pool and free bus service to the city center.(这家酒店为所有客人提供免费无线网络连接、每天早上美味的欧陆式早餐、免费停车场、室外游泳池和前往市中心的免费巴士服务)”可知,这所酒店会为顾客提供免费的去往市中心的公共汽车服务。 D。 B Following traditional expectations, my parents believed I was destined (注定的) to be the next Yo-Yo Ma. To deviate (偏离) from set cultural expectations was an unthinkable cruel act that would not only lead to financial instability but also mean that the deviant wasn’t using his ability to his full potential. In my fourth grade, I started playing the violin. I found comfort not in playing music, but in writing short stories and poetry. However, the shame of having an interest in liberal arts (文科), together with the fear of disappointing my parents, prevented me from expressing my passion for writing to my parents. I aimed to never express my desire to quit music, but my ranking as the worst violinist in my school band was all that needed to be told to my parents. After every long and boring class on my musical incompetence, I would find a way to release my emotions. Instead of sharing my problems with my friends or brothers, with a flashlight in one hand and a pen in the other, I conducted my writing sessions under my quilt secretly after my parents were asleep. Doing that really soothed my anxiety. I had thought my parents would control my future. Actually my unreasonable thinking did. I thought my advisor and parents might have ill intentions, but that was not the case. Sure, my parents encouraged my music career, but all they expected was that I could find my passion. When I told my parents about quitting music for journalism, though they felt it was a pity, they showed support for my writing interest. And as I type this conclusion, I’m reminded of how similar this is to my once routine of late-night writing sessions. However, this time, I’m not in hiding. 24. What can we know about the author in his fourth grade? A. He started learning to write poetry. B. He nearly gave up writing short stories. C. He struggled with his music lessons. D. He felt it a shame to join the school band. 25. What does the underlined word “soothed” in Paragraph 2 mean most probably? A. Reflected. B. Described. C. Worsened. D. Relieved. 26. What was the reaction of the author’s parents to his decision? A. They found it unwise. B. They were ashamed of that. C. They tried to hide its ill effects. D. They considered it understandable. 27. What does the author want to convey through his experience? A. We should follow our hearts bravely. B We should not think nothing of liberal arts. C. We should meet our parents’ expectations. D. We should not give up halfway easily. C 25. D 26. D 27. 根据第二段“I aimed to never express my desire to quit music, but my ranking as the worst violinist in my school band was all that needed to be told to my parents. After every long and boring class on my musical incompetence, I would find a way to release my emotions. (我的目标是永远不表达我退出音乐的愿望,但我在学校乐队中小提琴手最差的排名是我需要告诉父母的一切。在每一堂关于我音乐能力不足的漫长而无聊的课之后,我会找到一种释放情绪的方法)”可知,每节漫长又无聊的音乐课都在表明作者在音乐课程上很挣扎。故选C。 【25题详解】 词句猜测题。根据划线词上文“After every long and boring class on my musical incompetence, I would find a way to release my emotions. Instead of sharing my problems with my friends or brothers, with a flashlight in one hand and a pen in the other, I conducted my writing sessions under my quilt secretly after my parents were asleep. (在每一堂关于我音乐能力不足的漫长而无聊的课之后,我会找到一种释放情绪的方法。我没有和我的朋友或兄弟分享我的问题,一手拿着手电筒,一手拿着笔,而是在父母睡着后偷偷地在被子里写作)”可知,作者用写作释放情绪,故推断下文意思是这样做确实缓解了我的焦虑,所以soothed意为“缓解,减轻”,和relieved同义,故选D。 【26题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段“When I told my parents about quitting music for journalism, though they felt it was a pity, they showed support for my writing interest. (当我告诉我的父母我放弃音乐去做新闻时,虽然他们觉得很遗憾,但他们对我的写作兴趣表示支持)”可知,作者放弃音乐去做新闻时,作者的父母是支持的,也就是能够理解的,故选D。 【27题详解】 推理判断题。通读全文,尤其倒数第二段“I had thought my parents would control my future. Actually, my unreasonable thinking did. I thought my advisor and parents might have ill intentions, but that was not the case. Sure, my parents encouraged my music career, but all they expected was that I could find my passion. (我原以为我的父母会控制我的未来。事实上,是我不合理的想法造成的。我以为我的导师和父母可能有恶意,但事实并非如此。当然,我的父母鼓励我的音乐事业,但他们所期望的是我能找到我的激情)”可知,作者之前因为害怕父母失望而不敢表达自己对写作的热爱,后来发现父母其实是支持他追求自己的热情的,所以作者想通过自己的经历传达我们应该勇敢地追随自己的内心。故选A。 C In May 2023, Google released a new, AI-powered tool called “Help Me Write”. The tool writes emails and forms letters based on a user’s simple instructions. It promises to greatly improve productivity. AI is about to have a much larger hand in writing than ever before. With enough training, an Al tool may even be able to learn people’s preferences and write in a more personal style. But AI-written text can also cause trouble. AI language models have already created controversy (争议) by producing unexpected content, from unsuitable advice to terrible language style. A lesser talked-about problem is what AI-written text will do to language. The introduction of AI-generated communication may also be the death knell for endangered languages. I have been speaking Swiss. German dialects (方言) for half my life. Swiss German are spoken languages with no universal (普遍) spelling, but that hasn’t stopped people from writing in dialect. The introduction of AI-authored text has changed the communication among my Swiss friend group. When we use AI, a lot of errors appear in our texts and emails. As AI writing becomes common, there’s no question that most of us will give up using Swiss German and begin using formal German. And that’s not all. An AI tool may be able to combine words in creative ways, or learn a style from past writing, but it won’t naturally invent new slang. We have no idea what this means for language development. So, as we adopt AI-powered writing tools, it’s worth thinking about how they will influence both the conservation and the progress of language. 28. Why was “Help Me Write” mentioned in Paragraph 1? A. To provide an example. B. To introduce the topic. C. To advertise an AI tool. D. To support an argument. 29. What might be the disadvantage of AI-generated text? A. It is a little difficult. B. It uses words incorrectly. C. It provides answers slowly. D. Its content is not good enough. 30. What does the underlined part “the death knell” in Paragraph 4 mean? A. The sign of the end. B. The symbol of progress. C. The chance to get improvement. D. The opportunity to become universal. 31. What is the best title for the text? A. Google’s New AI Tool “Help Me Write” B. The Advantages and Disadvantages of AI C. The Influence of AI on Writing and Language D. The Future of Language Development with AI 【答案】28. B 29. D 30. A 31. 由文章第一段“In May 2023, Google released a new, AI-powered tool called “Help Me Write”. The tool writes emails and forms letters based on a user’s simple instructions. It promises to greatly improve productivity.(2023年5月,谷歌发布了一款名为“帮助我写”的新的人工智能工具。该工具根据用户的简单指令自动编写电子邮件和信件。它有望大大提高生产率。)”以及下文可知,第一段提出“帮助我写”人工智能工具是为了引出本文的话题。故选B项。 【29题详解】 细节理解题。由文章第三段“But AI-written text can also cause trouble. AI language models have already created controversy (争议) by producing unexpected content, from unsuitable advice to terrible language style.(但人工智能编写的文本也会带来麻烦。人工智能语言模型产生了意想不到的内容,从不合适的建议到糟糕的语言风格,已经引起了争议。)”可知,AI生成的文本其内容不合理。故选D项。 【30题详解】 词句猜测题。由划线短语前的“A lesser talked-about problem is what AI-written text will do to language.(一个较少被提及的问题是人工智能编写的文本会对语言产生什么影响。)”以及下一段中的“As AI writing becomes common, there’s no question that most of us will give up using Swiss German and begin using formal German.(随着人工智能写作变得普遍,毫无疑问,我们大多数人将放弃使用瑞士德语,开始使用正式德语。)” 故选A项。 根据首段“In May 2023, Google released a new, AI-powered tool called “Help Me Write”. The tool writes emails and forms letters based on a user’s simple instructions. It promises to greatly improve productivity.(2023年5月,谷歌发布了一款名为“帮助我写作”的新型人工智能工具。该工具根据用户的简单指令编写电子邮件和信件。它有望大大提高生产率。)”可知,第一段引出本文讲述的话题,结合下文中尤其是尾段“So, as we adopt AI-powered writing tools, it’s worth thinking about how they will influence both the conservation and the progress of language.(因此,当我们采用人工智能驱动的写作工具时,值得思考的是,它们将如何影响语言的保存和进步。)” D A remarkable discovery has changed the way scientists think about the history of cancer treatment. While many people think of cancer as a disease that affects only modern-day humans, cancer has been around for thousands of years and new research shows that humans have also tried to manage it for thousands of years. The study of two ancient Egyptian skulls (颅骨) held at the University of Cambridge in England has suggested that ancient Egyptians may have performed surgery to manage cancer. Professor Edgard Camaros from the University of Santiago de Compostela in Spain and his team were shocked when they found cut marks and evidence of cancer in the skulls of two ancient Egyptians dating back up to 4000 years old. While Egyptians are well known for having excellent medical knowledge and treating a range of diseases, they had never been known for treating cancer. The skulls had already been studied in 1963 by other scientists, however, the technology at that time wasn't advanced enough to pick up the cut marks of operation found on the skulls, Professor Edgard Camaros said. It was thanks to a HIROZ Digital Microscope HR-2016 that scientists spotted surgical cut marks around two cancer lesions (病变). One limitation regarding cancer is that there are too few cancer cases on ancient human remains. The study of disease found in animal and human remains aims to find out as much as possible about diseases in the past to help our understanding of diseases now. Our discipline is limited by the samples we work with, which depends on the funeral culture of some people as well as the environment in which they were preserved. Egypt is a great place thanks to its advanced funerary (埋葬的) practices and the dry weather which preserves remains better. 32. How did Professor Edgard and his team feel when they found the cut marks? A. Overjoyed. B. Confused. C. Surprised. D. Disappointed. 33. Why did scientists fail to find the cut marks in 1963? A. They were too careless. B. They lacked advanced technology. C. They were in such a rush. D. They had little relative knowledge. 34. What makes Egypt a great place for preservation according to the last paragraph? A. Its population. B. Its economy. C. Its scenery. D. Its climate. 35. What is the best title for the text? A. Cancer Has Been Around for Thousands of Years B. Ancient Egyptians Had Found a Cure for Cancer C. Scientists Assumed Causes for Marks on Ancient Skulls D. Animal and Human Remains Are Well Preserved in Egypt 【答案】32. C 33. B 34. D 35. 由文章第二段“Professor Edgard Camaros from the University of Santiago de Compostela in Spain and his team were shocked when they found cut marks and evidence of cancer in the skulls of two ancient Egyptians dating back up to 4000 years old.(西班牙圣地亚哥-德孔波斯特拉大学的Edgard Camaros教授和他的团队在两名4000年前的古埃及人的头骨中发现了切割痕迹和癌症证据,他们对此感到震惊。)” 由文章第三段“The skulls had already been studied in 1963 by other scientists, however, the technology at that time wasn't advanced enough to pick up the cut marks of operation found on the skulls, Professor Edgard Camaros said. (Edgard Camaros教授说,其他科学家在1963年已经对头骨进行了研究,但当时的技术还不够先进,无法发现头骨上的手术切割痕迹。)”可知,1963年科学家没有发现古埃及人头盖骨上的切口是由于技术原因。故选B项。 【34题详解】 细节理解题。由文章最后一段“Egypt is a great place thanks to its advanced funerary(埋葬的)practices and the dry weather which preserves remains better.(埃及是一个伟大的地方,这要归功于其先进的葬礼习俗和干燥的天气,保存得更好。)” 由文章第一段“A remarkable discovery has changed the way scientists think about the history of cancer treatment. While many people think of cancer as a disease that affects only modern-day humans, cancer has been around for thousands of years and new research shows that humans have also tried to manage it for thousands of years. (一项引人注目的发现改变了科学家们对癌症治疗历史的看法。虽然许多人认为癌症是一种只影响现代人类的疾病,但癌症已经存在了数千年,新的研究表明,人类也试图控制它数千年。)”以及下文可知,文章主要讲述研究者对两块古埃及人头盖骨的研究发现:癌症可能已经存在几千年了。所以A项Cancer Has Been Around for Thousands of Years(癌症已经存在了数千年)符合语境。故选A项。 What does life purpose mean and, more importantly, how does one find and achieve it? It has been a long journey getting to this point, and here are some tips for finding your life purpose. Play to your strength. We are not capable of being all things to all people. ___36___ Develop your natural talents into skills by studying, exercising and practicing those talents. Pursue(追求)your passions. ___37___ In order to live your life purpose, you must become completely immersed (沉浸) in whatever it is, which means it must be something you are passionate about. No matter how hard you try, you absolutely cannot control the results of your actions. All that we can do in life is put forth our best efforts. ___39___ Embrace your creativity. No matter how hard you try, you absolutely cannot control the results of your actions. 【39题详解】 上文“All that we can do in life is put forth our best efforts. 【40题详解】 根据上文“We are all able to produce something that is both original and of value to the world. 和下文“We are not talking about being artistic, which is one form of creativity. Sent by educational systems, they were boys in trouble; they had no family, lacked love, often broke the rules, and were lonely. Our ranch created a “boy-horse communication program” for them, hoping to heal their broken spirits and help them behave well through their communication with horses. I was the program’s head. 15-year-old Martin was a new arrival. He appeared cold and easily angry and had no experience with horses. He seemed to consider a horse only a vehicle for speed and thrills. He always pushed his way to the front of the line every day, knocking down smaller children to get on the horse. And then he started moving fast. We tried to communicate with him, but he only cared about his excitement. One morning, when I was upset about Martin’s behavior in my office, one worker told me that a female horse was ill. Then, I ran to its stable (马), and within an hour she was dead. We felt sad about her and also concerned about the young baby she had recently delivered (分娩). The baby horse’s first need was to be fed. We prepared some milk in a bottle and offered it to her. But she wouldn’t accept the bottle. We had to put our hands in the milk and let her suck (吮吸) the milk off our fingers. It was a painfully slow method of feeding, but we had no choice if we wanted the baby horse to survive. At that moment, Martin finished his daily riding and found us. Pushing his way through the crowd of kids who were watching us feed the baby horse, he got to the front, shouting, “I want to feed it!” After I showed Martin how to do it, he put his hand in the milk and then put his fingers towards the horse’s mouth. When the baby horse closed her mouth around his fingers, Martin was surprised and drew back, shouting, “Hey, it bit me!” But knowing the little horse wanted more food, he immediately re-wet his hand. And he gently put his fingers near her mouth. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Watching the horse sleep, Martin cried, “I’ll be her mom and care for her.” ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】And he gently put his fingers near her mouth. Again the horse sucked greedily. This time, Martin’s face relaxed into a smile of pure pleasure. Again and again, he put his hand in the milk and gave it to the horse. “She’s so hungry,” he said softly. Eventually, the horse had enough milk and fell into a deep sleep. “What happened to her?” Martin asked me. I told him that she had lost her mom and needed someone to care for her. Then we talked about how it felt to lose a mother. Watching the horse sleep, Martin cried, “I’ll be her mom and care for her.” Touched, I nodded. He came every day to feed the baby horse and clean her stable. He brushed her and played with her. They had a wild game where they took turns chasing each other, bringing fun and love to each other. Gradually, Martin’s eyes had more tenderness, and he began caring for little boys there, teaching them to ride horses. I was glad about Martin’s change. And this was just one story here that showed how our program could heal a broken spirit. 词汇激活行为类 ①照顾:care for/take care of/look after ②追赶:chase/run after ③打扫:clean/sweep 情绪类 ①感动的:touched/moved ②高兴的:glad/happy 【点睛】[高分句型1] I told him that she had lost her mom and needed someone to care for her. (由that引导的宾语从句) [高分句型2]They had a wild game where they took turns chasing each other, bringing fun and love to each other.(由where引导的定语从句) [高分句型3]And this was just one story here that showed how our program could heal a broken spirit.(that引导的限制性定语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$null 安徽师范大学附属中学2024-2025学年高一12月测试 英语 注意事项: 1. Who won the game last night? Actually, my unreasonable thinking did. I thought my advisor and parents might have ill intentions, but that was not the case. Sure, my parents encouraged my music career, but all they expected was that I could find my passion. When I told my parents about quitting music for journalism though they felt it was a pity, they showed support for my writing interest. And as I type this conclusion, I’m reminded of how similar this is to my once routine of late-night writing sessions. However, this time, I’m not in hiding. 24. What was the reaction of the author’s parents to his decision? A. They found it unwise. B. They were ashamed of that. C. They tried to hide its ill effects. D. They considered it understandable. 27. What does the author want to convey through his experience? A. We should follow our hearts bravely. B. We should not think nothing of liberal arts. C. We should meet our parents’ expectations. D. The Future of Language Development with AI D A remarkable discovery has changed the way scientists think about the history of cancer treatment. Animal and Human Remains Are Well Preserved in Egypt What does life purpose mean and, more importantly, how does one find and achieve it? ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Watching the horse sleep, Martin cried, “I’ll be her mom and care for her.” ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
