Cultures across the world have different ways for people to greet one another . In Spain, many people kiss both cheeks. In New Zealand, they bump noses! The goal of these actions is to make others feel welcome However, some people would rather say hello orally. They don’t like being touched. Neither does the sensitive plant.
Some people keep the sensitive plant as a houseplant because of its interesting behavior. When you touch the leaves of the sensitive plant, it releases(释放) water from its leaves and stalks. As water drains(流出) to the plants base, the leaves close and the stalks droop. This causes the plant to look wilted.
The sensitive plant draws back from physical contact because it doesn’t want you to touch it of course! Just like people, this plant sends physical signals that you should leave it alone. This reaction to touch is a defense mechanism. Many animals and insects eat plants, so the sensitive plant learned to move to scare away predators(捕食者). Frightened by the sudden wilting, hungry anima ove away to find a different plant to eat. Additionally, wilted plants don't look mouth-watering. This encourages other nearby predators to look for their dinner elsewhere.
If you touch the sensitive plant and it wilts, have no fear! It's still a healthy plant. After a few minutes, it will send water back to its leaves and stand straight up again. However, it takes a lot of time for the sensitive plant to rejuvenate itself. Don' t touch the plant just to watch it wilt. It may seem like fun, but it's not fun for rejuvenate.
It's always important to pay attention to the body language of plants, animals, and other people! We should never want to make other living things uncomfortable, and especially not for our own entertainment.
61. What's the main purpose of writing Paragraph 1?
A. To introduce the cultures across the world
B. To list the actions that can make others feel welcome
C. To compare different ways for people to greet one another
D. To lead readers to make a connection between people and the plant
62.We can infer that the sensitive plant may be also called _______
A. forget-me-not B. touch-me-not C. rose of Sharon D. daughter of wind
63.The underlined word “wilted” means “_______” in Chinese
A.艳丽的 B.茂盛的 C.枯萎的 D.有毒的
64.The sensitive plants interesting behavior is actually a way to

Imagine living high on a mountain with no mobile phone. What's the best way to tell your dad, who is at the foot of the mountain, to buy some milk? 66 That's how some communities around the world communicate—through a whistled language.
Nowadays, many areas with such language are working hard to protect their ancient traditions. 67 The main advantage of whistled speech is that it allows the speaker to cover a longer distance than ordinary(普通的) speech. It can also reach a number of people at once. 68
Several hundred years ago, the people of the small island of La Gomera on the Canary Islands developed a whistled language called “El Sillbo”. This language is very easy to learn. 69 It was the main form of communication during wars. However, with the popularity(普及) of mobile phones, the use of this whistled language is declining slowly.
Today, El Silbo is seldom used in everyday communication. In order to protect the language from dying out, some schools teach students how to make El Silbo. 70 “It's less expensive than a mobile phone and it's fun,” says nine-year-old Andrea.

English and Chinese are totally different languages. However, some proverbs(谚语) in English seem to have a "twin" in Chinese Here are three of them.
Double-edged sword (双刃剑)/Water can carry a boat, and it can also overturn it.
The Chinese proverb was 81 (one) used by Confucius. He reminded a ruler that his power was 82 (base) on people who supported him. If the people were dissatisfied, they could easily fight 83 the ruler. Similarly double-edged sword reminds us that what brings us power can bring us harm, too.
These days, both expressions are used to point out how our tools can 84 help or harm us. It all depends on how we use these tools.
Think before you act /Think three times, and act after.
Both cultures are 85 /waɪz/enough to include this proverb It is a good phrase to use when any friend is going to make a big 86 (decide).
Stands head and shoulders above the rest. / a crane standing among a group of chickens.
A crane is a large 87 /bɜːrd /with long legs and a long neck. Just imagine such an animal 88 (stand) among many chickens. The crane will naturally stand out, won't it?
So these two expressions now 89 / rɪˈfɜː(r)/to someone who stands out from the rest. You may use them to describe 90 talented artist, an excellent job

Dear classmates,
Now I’d like to tell you how I learn English.
Firstly, I listen to English tapes every day. It helps me improve my listening skills. While listening, I try to imitate the pronunciation, which makes my spoken English better.
Secondly, I read a lot of English books and magazines. Reading not only enriches my vocabulary but also broadens my knowledge about different cultures. When I come across new words, I look them up in the dictionary immediately.
Moreover, I like watching English movies. It’s a fun way to learn English. I can learn some natural expressions and slang words from the movies. And I often try to repeat the lines after the characters.
Finally, I join the English Corner in our school. There I can talk with my classmates in English. We discuss various topics and I become more confident in using English.
That’s all. Thank you.
