Sports officials who can keep the games fair are needed everywhere. Some on-the-job training is required, along with perhaps more than a little patience for fans and players. Physician assistant Average hourly wage: $57.43 Physician assistant is another health care role that has more responsibilities than a nurse but less than a doctor. Working with a physician, the workers can handle duties such as finding out patients’ disease, ordering medical tests and setting broken bones. These jobs require a master’s degree along with required certificates. Project management specialist Average hourly wage: $53.32 If you have experience helping others turn their great ideas into finished products, this could be the right role for you. A project management specialist needs a bachelor degree, but doesn’t have to follow a fixed working time. Teacher Average hourly wage: $33.43 Teaching has long been a popular job for older adults, whether they’ve been doing it for years or they choose it as a second career. While most public schools do require teachers to have a degree in education, many private schools are willing to hire teachers who come from other professions. 1. What can we know about physician assistants? A. They need an on-the-job training. B. They are paid the most on average. C. They are less popular than doctors. D. They need both certificates and experience. 2. Which of the following suits those who prefer a flexible timetable? A. Teacher. B. Referee or other sports official. C. Physician assistant. D. Project management specialist. 3. Who is this text intended for? A. Job seekers. B. Volunteers. C. Employers. D. Patients. B 2. D 3. 根据Project management specialist中“A project management specialist needs a bachelor degree, but doesn’t have to follow a fixed working time. (项目管理专家需要学士学位,但不必遵循固定的工作时间)”可知,项目管理专家不必遵循固定的工作时间,因此适合那些喜欢灵活时间表的人。故选D项。 【3题详解】 推理判断题。通读全文,尤其是标题“The Most Trending Professions in 2023 (2023年最流行的职业)”可知,文章介绍了四个2023年最流行的职业的情况,主要包括其薪资、工作内容和职业要求等信息。由此推知,文章的目标受众应该是求职者。故选A项。 B As an art graduate, I have always considered myself an artist. However, my journey as a jewelry (珠宝) maker began with an earring-making experience during the pandemic (疫情) when businesses were shutting down. I struggled with large amounts of time, unemployed and unmotivated. I didn’t know what to do until my friends suggested we make something “cute” from clay (粘土). He was in a rut as well and was looking for an opportunity to get refreshed. While searching online, I was attracted by the photos of beautiful earrings. Thinking about my own possible designs, for the first time in so long, brought me excitement. I began making my first pair once the materials arrived. I rolled, baked, and connected the clay pieces again and again, trying to make the combination perfect. It took me almost six hours to complete, leaving me with cuts all over my hands due to the repeated use of tools. While the earrings were still not perfect, I felt proud and eager to do better. Afterwards, I officially started my jewelry-making journey by setting up an Instagram account to display my creations and to seek out other artists. Thanks to their help, I built upon my skills and found myself improving. Later on, I began receiving messages from interested buyers, which encouraged me much. Surprisingly, my creations were bought and worn by more and more people, shipped across the country, and carried in luggage as gifts or souvenirs. Now I am lucky enough to have a full-time job where I have less time to create. But I’ll never give it up since it is creating jewelry that reminds me of my passion as an artist. 4. What does the underlined phrase “in a rut” in Paragraph 2 mean? A. Leading a happy life. B. Leading a boring life. C. Tired from a busy schedule. D. Receiving an exciting message. 5. Which best describes the author’s earring-making experience in Paragraph 3? A. Painful. B. Perfect. C. Rewarding. D. Disappointing. 6. What helped the author improve her jewelry-making skills? A. Recognition from buyers. B. Lessons from the past. C. Encouragement from friends. D. Help from other artists. 7. What’s the main idea of this text? A. Clay art won me great fame. B. Making jewelry helped me out. C. Making jewelry built my character. D. Clay art raised my passion for business. B 5. C 6. D 7. 根据第二段“I struggled with large amounts of time, unemployed and unmotivated. I didn’t know what to do until my friends suggested we make something “cute” from clay (粘土).(我在大量的时间里挣扎,没有工作,没有动力。我不知道该怎么办,直到我的朋友建议我们用粘土做一些“可爱”的东西。)”可知,作者过得很无聊,再根据第二段“was looking for an opportunity to get refreshed.(正在寻找一个恢复精神的机会)”可知,作者的那个朋友也过着无聊的生活,划线短语in a rut的意思是“过着无聊的生活”,和Leading a boring life意思相近,故选B。 根据第三段“While the earrings were still not perfect, I felt proud and eager to do better.(虽然耳环还不够完美,但我感到自豪,并渴望做得更好。)”和第四段“Afterwards, I officially started my jewelry-making journey by setting up an Instagram account to display my creations and to seek out other artists.(之后,我正式开始了我的首饰制作之旅,建立了一个Instagram账户来展示我的作品,并寻找其他艺术家。)” 根据第四段“Afterwards, I officially started my jewelry-making journey by setting up an Instagram account to display my creations and to seek out other artists. Thanks to their help, I built upon my skills and found myself improving.(之后,我正式开始了我的首饰制作之旅,建立了一个Instagram账户来展示我的作品,并寻找其他艺术家。多亏了他们的帮助,我的技能得到了提高,并发现自己在进步。)”可知,来自其他艺术家的帮助帮助作者提高了自己的珠宝制作技能,故选D。 【7题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第一段“However, my journey as a jewelry (珠宝) maker began with an earring-making experience during the pandemic (疫情) when businesses were shutting down.(然而,我作为首饰制造商的旅程始于疫情期间企业关闭时的耳环制作经历。)”和最后一段“Now I am lucky enough to have a full-time job where I have less time to create. But I’ll never give it up since it is creating jewelry that reminds me of my passion as an artist.(现在我很幸运有一份全职工作,我没有那么多时间去创造。但我永远不会放弃,因创造首饰让我想起我作为一个艺术家的激情。)”可知,本文主要讲的是作者如何开始制作耳环以及作者做耳环的经历对作者的影响,因此文章的主旨是B选项“Making jewelry helped me out.(制作首饰帮我走出困境。)”,故选B。 C Imagine you need milk, so you go to the grocery store to pick some up, only to find there are dozens of options. These days, you have to make a decision on not only the percentage of fat you want, but also what source you want your milk to be coming from: cows, soybeans... You have no idea what milk to pick. There are so many choices that you are confused. This phenomenon is known as the paradox (悖论) of choice and it is becoming a concern in the modern world, where more and more options are becoming easily available to us. While we might believe that being presented with multiple options actually makes it easier to choose one that we are happy with, and thus increases consumer satisfaction, having too many options actually requires more effort to make a decision and can leave us feeling unsatisfied with our choice. The idea was popularized by American psychologist Barry Schwartz when he published his book, The Paradox of Choice: Why More Is Less. Schwartz, who has long studied the ways in which economics and psychology intersect (交叉), became interested in seeing the way that choices were affecting the happiness of citizens in Western societies. He identified that the range of choices that we have available to us these days is far greater than that people had in the past; however, consumer satisfaction has not increased as much as traditional economics theories might expect. Schwartz identified that the paradox of choice carries the most consequence for people that are maximizers. Maximizers, unlike satisficers, are concerned with making the best choice instead of simply making a choice that they are happy with. When there are many options available to maximizers, it becomes harder for them to determine which is the best, which can cause them to feel a great deal of regret after they have made a choice. Instead of believing that freedom of choice is unlimited, Schwartz advocates that the role of psychology and behavioral economics should be to find the kind of limitations on freedom that can lead to the greatest level of happiness within society. 8. What’s the author’s purpose in mentioning buying milk in paragraph 1? A. To lead in the topic. B. To draw a conclusion. C. To show that we have more choices when shopping. D. To indicate that people pay greater attention to health when shopping. 9. What does the paradox of choice suggest? A. More options mean less satisfaction. B. Consumer satisfaction has greatly increased. C. People are happy with more choices. D. Modern people are happier than their ancestors. 10. What can be learned about satisficers? A. They aim for the very best. B. They tend to follow their feelings. C. They often regret their decisions. D. They have trouble making a decision. 11. What does Schwartz suggest people do? A. Hold on to their beliefs. B. Accept their own behavior. C. Give up freedom. D. Limit their own choices. A 9. A 10. B 11. 根据第一段的“Imagine you need milk, so you go to the grocery store to pick some up, only to find there are dozens of options. (想象一下,你需要牛奶,所以你去杂货店买了一些,却发现有几十种选择)”以及“You have no idea what milk to pick. There are so many choices that you are confused.(你不知道该选什么牛奶。有太多的选择让你感到困惑)”可知,购物时牛奶品类众多,以至于很难做出决策。是下文“选择的悖论”这一现象的一个案例。由此可推知,文章第一段提到买牛奶就是为了引出文章的话题。故选A。 根据第二段的“While we might believe that being presented with multiple options actually makes it easier to choose one that we are happy with, and thus increases consumer satisfaction, having too many options actually requires more effort to make a decision and can leave us feeling unsatisfied with our choice.(虽然我们可能认为,提供多种选择实际上会让我们更容易选择一种我们满意的选择,从而提高消费者满意度,选择太多实际上需要付出更多的努力才能做出决定,这会让我们对自己的选择感到不满意)”可知,选择太多实际上需要付出更多的努力才能做出决定,这会让我们对自己的选择感到不满意。 故选A。 根据第四段的“Maximizers, unlike satisficers, are concerned with making the best choice instead of simply making a choice that they are happy with. (与满足者不同,最大化者关心的是做出最好的选择,而不是简单地做出他们满意的选择)”可推知,满足者跟随自己的感觉,不纠结于必须做出“最好的”决定。故选B。 【11题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段“Instead of believing that freedom of choice is unlimited, Schwartz advocates that the role of psychology and behavioral economics should be to find the kind of limitations on freedom that can lead to the greatest level of happiness within society.(施瓦茨不认为选择的自由是无限的,而是主张心理学和行为经济学的作用应该是找到对自由的限制,从而在社会中获得最大程度的幸福)”可知,施瓦茨建议人们限制自己的选择。 In recent years, research has confirmed that providing students with meaningful feedback can greatly improve their learning and achievement. ____12____ It can even be counterproductive (适得其反的), especially if it’s presented in an only negative or corrective way. To some degree, it is easier for the teacher and the student to receive a simple grade on an assignment (作业). ____13____ It tells a student whether he has met the expectations of the assignment, and it creates a simple way for a teacher to assess a student’s work. However, once the grade is on the paper, it pretty much becomes the only thing that matters. ____14____ Whatever work might have been done on the test is outweighed by the overall low performance. ____15____ Many educational professors suggest a feedback-oriented (反馈导向的) learning system. In the classroom, this system can shift the focus of the students from their final grades to mastery of the material itself. Feedback is commentary on the student work, individualized to best consider the needs of each student, personally. A feedback-oriented learning system is something that every student can benefit from, whether it is offered verbally, or through the traditional written words. ____16____ Those students are typically not challenged as much as they should be. While they still may earn an “A”, it is helpful to know what they could be doing to improve their work even further — another learning challenge to engage, and push them forward. A. A grade is clear. B. Be as specific as possible. C. Even “A” students benefit. D. But not all feedback is equally effective. E. Less advantaged learners can also benefit. F. So how can we make students learn effectively from feedback? G. Students are hardly interested in hearing what they did well when they see a low grade. D 13. A 14. G 15. F 16. 【12题详解】 上文“In recent years, research has confirmed that providing students with meaningful feedback can greatly improve their learning and achievement.(近年来,研究证实,向学生提供有意义的反馈可以极大地提高他们的学习效果和成绩)”说明有意义的反馈可以提高学生的学习和成就,但并不是所有的反馈都是有效的,空格处承上启下,D项“But not all feedback is equally effective.” 【13题详解】 上文“To some degree, it is easier for the teacher and the student to receive a simple grade on an assignment.(在某种程度上,教师和学生都更容易接受作业上的一个简单分数)”说明给作业打分对老师和学生来说更简单,空格处承接上文,A项“A grade is clear.” 故选A。 【14题详解】 上文“However, once the grade is on the paper, it pretty much becomes the only thing that matters.(然而,一旦分数写在了纸上,它几乎就成了唯一重要的事情)”,说明一旦分数写在纸上,它几乎就成了唯一重要的东西,空格处承接上文。G项“Students are hardly interested in hearing what they did well when they see a low grade.” 【15题详解】 下文“Many educational professors suggest a feedback-oriented (反馈导向的) learning system.(许多教育学教授建议采用一种反馈导向的学习系统)”说明许多教育学教授建议采用反馈导向的学习系统,空格处承接上文,F项“So how can we make students learn effectively from feedback?” 【16题详解】 上文“A feedback-oriented learning system is something that every student can benefit from, whether it is offered verbally, or through the traditional written words.(反馈导向的学习系统是每位学生都能从中受益的,无论是通过口头还是传统的书面形式提供)”说明反馈导向的学习系统对每个学生都有好处,空格处承接上文,C项“Even “A” students benefit.” This winter was really special for me. Recently, our class discussed whether students should use electronic dictionary pens. Opinions were divided: 40% supported using them, citing their portability, ease of word lookup, and multifunctionality — such as pronunciation correction and listening practice. However, 60% opposed, arguing that these pens have limited vocabulary and explanations, and may cause dependency, reducing efforts in memorizing words. It was the great Christmas shopping time. I asked my son and daughter to go together, but they preferred to play at home. People were busy buying gifts for their beloved ones. It seemed that the bigger the gifts were the better they would be. I shook my head sadly and walked on. I was shopping alone trying to pick up some thick winter socks to warm my frozen feet. As I rounded the corner in the store I saw a Christmas tree full of paper angels (天使) On each angel was the name of a needy child whose family couldn’t afford to buy them a gift that year. Shoppers who picked an angel could buy a simple toy or gift. The store would wrap it and send it to the child that Christmas. Around the tree I saw a teenage boy and girl picking out several angels. Their mother was smiling while she watched them. I walked up next to her and started talking with her. She told me that her children started this several years ago when she first explained to them what the Charity Angel tree was for. Each offered to give up one of their toys that year so that a needy child could have one. It didn’t stop then, though. Each year since the kids had saved money they earned throughout the year and bought more and more children the gifts they wouldn’t have otherwise. It had become a family tradition. I smiled when she finished, and walked over to the tree. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Waving to the two happy children, I left the store, planning what to do next Christmas. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 I smiled when she finished, and walked over to the tree. Feeling eager and excited, I reached for the paper angels. “Who will be the child?” I whispered. “In spite of my struggle, I would like to offer her a simple Christmas gift.” At this time, the teenage boy and girl whose mother I talked with just now approached me, showing me their gifts which were wrapped by the store, broad smiles on their faces. Definitely, their virtue really made a big difference to me. I really admired them for their being so caring and kind to help needy children. After a while, we said goodbye with a hug. Waving to the two happy children, I left the store, planning what to do next Christmas. On my arrival at my home, I was greeted by my son and daughter. As soon as I sat down, I poured out the Charity Angle tree to them in detail. What’s more, I explained to them the gift that I chose. After listening with great interest, they shouted, “From now on, we will save money and buy gifts for more children”. We agreed to make it a family tradition at the Christmas shopping time every year. Obviously, it was small acts of kindness that add up, which is significant to our society. 伸手去拿:reach for/reach out for ②.提供某人某物:offer sb sth/provide sb with sth ③.大声说:shout/exclaim 情绪类 ①赞赏:admire/appreciate ②.兴奋的:excited/thrilled 【点睛】[高分句型1] At this time, the teenage boy and girl whose mother I talked with just now approached me, showing me their gifts which were wrapped by the store, broad smiles on their faces. 4. Making jewelry helped me out. C. Making jewelry built my character. D. Clay art raised my passion for business. C Imagine you need milk, so you go to the grocery store to pick some up, only to find there are dozens of options. B. As I rounded the corner in the store I saw a Christmas tree full of paper angels (天使). On each angel was the name of a needy child whose family couldn’t afford to buy them a gift that year. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
