意为“和 ,并且”,表并列或顺承关系
John, work hard, and you will make much progress. 约翰,努力学习,你就会取得很大的进步。
but
意为“但是”,表转折关系;不能与 though, although 连用
He is short, but his brother is very tall. 他很矮,但是他哥哥很高。
or
意 为 “或 者 /否 则”,表选择

注意: (1)neither... nor..., either... or..., not only... but also...连接两个并列成分作主语时,谓语动词要和最近的主语保持一致,即就近原则;both... and... 连接两个并列成分作主语时,谓语动词只能用复数形式。
(2) not only 位于句首时, 后面的句子要用倒装语序。 如:Not only did he speak more correctly, but also he spoke more easily. 他不仅说得更准确,而且说得更轻松了。
