做题时注意在选项中查找表示结果、结论、总结等的信号词如therefore, as a result, thus, hence, in short, to sum up, to conclude, in a word等词语。

The 7 Words That Can Ruin a Relationship
The phrase “Don't worry; we will work it out" can be a double-edged sword in partnerships, whether it's a romantic relationship, a business cooperation,or a friendship. While it's often intended to reassure and provide hope in challenging times, its repeated use without meaningful action can lessen trust and weaken the partnership 1
False Reassurance
David has some impulsive(冲动的)spending habits. As a charming car sales professional, he enjoys himself during those times when he has strong sales numbers. 2 He just says to his supportive girlfriend, Bridget, “I don't want to talk about it”.
David wants to move in with Bridget in a new luxury apartment. Hetells Bridget,”Think how nice this place is. And, by the way, baby, my sales figures are hot lately!” Bridget then brings up concerns over monthly expenses, knowing that David has high credit-card debt. David responds with, “Don't worry; we will work it out”. However, because David fails to take steps to address his financial struggles, their problems continue and worsen. 3 And Bridget questions the sincerity behind his words, leading to doubt and frustration.
Communication breakdown
James and Tony, longtime friends bonded by their shared love for softball, excitedly took on the task of organizing their neighborhood’s annual league(联盟). However, as they focused in the planning process, their communication began to crack.
James, acareful planner, insisted on sticking to a strict schedule, while Tony, who has a more easy-going nature, repeatedly said, "Don't worry; we will work it out," selecting fun over structure. 4 For example, they argued about team formations and game schedules, causing tension to rise between them. Frustrated by their inability to see eye-to-eye, James and Tony found themselves at a crossroads, unsure if their friendship could stand the tension of their difference perspectives on how to run the league.
5 But it's also important for partners to back up their words to address challenges. Otherwise, the overuse of "Don't worry; we will work it out" can gradually lessen trust, communication, and responsibility, ultimately leading to the worsening of the partnership itself.
A. So his reassurances start to feel blank.
B. League participants felt caught in the conflict.
C. However, he gets quiet when his sales figures drop.
D. In conclusion, offering reassurance is helpful in any partnership.
E. Their conflicting viewpoints led to heated debates on everything.
F. The response ruins our bond with our family, partners and friends.
G. Following are two examples of how it lessens trust and harms relationships.
G 2. C 3. A 4. E 5. D
2. 上文“As a charming car sales professional, he enjoys himself during those times when he has strong sales numbers.(作为一个有魅力的汽车销售专业人士,在他的销售数字强劲的时候他很开心)”描述了 David 在销售数字好的时候很健谈,结合下文“He just says to his supportive girlfriend, Bridget, ‘I don’t want to talk about it’.(他只是对支持他的女友Bridget说:‘我不想谈这件事。’)”
3. 根据上文“However, because David fails to take steps to address his financial struggles, their problems continue and worsen.(然而,由于David没有采取措施解决他的财务困难,他们的问题继续恶化)”和下文“And Bridget questions the sincerity behind his words, leading to doubt and frustration.(Bridget质疑他话语背后的诚意,导致怀疑和沮丧)”可知,上文描述David未能采取行动解决财务问题,下文说明了Bridget对David保证的真实性产生怀疑,导致怀疑和挫败感,A项“所以他的安慰开始变得空洞”强调了重复使用“Don’t worry; we will work it out”而不采取实际行动会如何逐渐削弱信任。故选A。
4. 下文“For example, they argued about team formations and game schedules, causing tension to rise between them. Frustrated by their inability to see eye-to-eye, James and Tony found themselves at a crossroads, unsure if their friendship could stand the tension of their difference perspectives on how to run the league.(例如,他们争论团队组成和比赛日程,导致他们之间的紧张关系上升。
(2024-2025学年高二上·江苏泰州·阶段练习)Mold(霉菌) is unpleasant because of how it looks and smells. Some people have the habit of removing mold from food in order to consume the unaffected rest. 1
Removing the moldy parts doesn’t guarantee that the toxins(毒素) present in the product will be removed completely. Therefore, they can cause illness or food poisoning. Only hard and dry foods can be consumed once the moldy part has been removed. Therefore, you should completely throw away soft and moist foods in this situation. 2 We can’t afford to ignore the presence of molds on the surface and inside products. However it’s okay to eat cured meat products, firm fruits, and vegetables.
3 Many of these have to do with the consumption of raw foods that haven’t undergo the appropriate processes. For example, eat some fruits without washing them thoroughly. Some chemicals are often added to them while they are being grown or processed. Besides, consuming raw or undercooked white fish, without prior freezing, also increases the risk of contamination(污染) with anisakis(胃线虫). 4 Experts usually recommend unfreezing products in the refrigerator. This prevents temperatures that are favorable for bacterial growth.
In addition, you must take care when handling raw foods and cooked foods to avoid cross-contamination. Cross-contamination can occur through indirect spread of microorganisms by equipment, food handlers, cook facilities or surfaces. 5 Microorganisms could pass from one to the other and certain microorganisms cause most types of food poisoning. After entering the body, these living things release poisons that make people sick.
A. These problems exist everywhere.
B. You should never use the same tools.
C. There are other dangerous situations
D. Food unfreezing processes are a critical point.
E. Therefore, many think it can be a common problem
F. You should never eat bread that have developed mold.
G. However, many are unaware this could lead to illness.
G 2. F 3. C 4. D 5. B
1. 根据上文“Some people have the habit of removing mold from food in order to consume the unaffected rest.(有些人有从食物中去除霉菌的习惯,以食用剩下未受影响的)”和下文“Removing the moldy parts doesn’t guarantee that the toxins (毒素) present in the product will be removed completely. Therefore, they can cause illness or food poisoning.(去除发霉的部分并不能保证产品中的毒素将被完全去除。因此,它们会引起疾病或食物中毒)”可知,空处和上文形成转折关系,说明去除霉菌也可能会导致疾病。G项“However, many are unaware this could lead to illness.(然而,许多人没有意识到这可能导致疾病)”符合语境,其中this指代上文情况,有承上作用。故选G项。
2. 根据上文“Only hard and dry foods can be consumed once the moldy part has been removed. Therefore, you should completely throw away soft and moist foods in this situation.(除去发霉的部分后,只有硬质和干燥的食物才能食用。因此,在这种情况下,你应该完全扔掉柔软和潮湿的食物)”可知,软的食物发霉后不能使用。F项“You should never eat bread that has developed mold.(你不应该吃已经发霉的面包)”符合语境,其中bread与上文soft and moist foods 对应,有承上作用。故选F项。
根据下文“Many of these have to do with the consumption of raw foods that haven’t undergo the appropriate processes.(其中许多与未经适当加工的生食的消费有关。)” C项“There are other dangerous situations(还有其他危险情况)”中“other dangerous situations”和下文的“these”对应,所以本句有启下作用。故选C项。
4. 根据下文“Experts usually recommend unfreezing products in the refrigerator. This prevents temperatures that are favorable for bacterial growth.(专家们通常会推荐冰箱里的解冻产品。这就阻止了有利于细菌生长的温度)”可知,这里主要讲冰箱冰冻可以阻止细菌,D项“Food unfreezing processes are a critical point.(食品解冻过程是一个关键点。)”符合语境,其中unfreezing与下文对应,有启下作用。故选D项。
5. 根据上文“Cross-contamination can occur through indirect spread of microorganisms by equipment, food handlers, cook facilities or surfaces.(交叉污染可通过设备、食品操作者、烹饪设施或表面的微生物间接传播发生)”可知,这里主要讲交叉污染,空处说明避免使用相同的工具处理食物从而避免交叉污染。所以B项“You should never use the same tools.(你不应该使用相同的工具)”符合语境,有承上作用。
Music is all around us. 1 Advertisers have long understood the popularity and emotional power of music and made good use of it. They spend much time and money securing the right soundtrack(配乐) for an advertisement in order to boost sales.
2 It expands pictures and colors words, and often adds a form of energy available through no other source. Music matching the main message of an advertisement has a positive effect on consumer engagement. It can result in enhanced attention, a positive emotional response and improved brand recall. Thus, it contributes to the effectiveness of an advertisement.
Take the visually simple but interesting advertisement for Air France, with the soundtrack of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No.23, for example. 3 The advertisers hope that viewers will associate those qualities with the airline. Hundreds of viewer comments about the music used in advertising suggested it was successful.
Music is also effective at triggering feelings of nostalgia(怀旧之情). The emotional memories music arouses in advertisements serves as a reminder of consumers’ past experiences. 4
However, the use of popular music in advertising can also cause arguments around the tension between artistic effort and commercialism. Consumers sometimes passionately oppose the use of music produced by respected musicians in advertisements. 5 For example, Nike’s use of Beatles’ song Revolution was seen by some as using Lennon’s lyrics to sell shoes. It made some Nike wearers so angry that they refused to buy the products.
A. It highlights greatness and elegance.
B. Music is the facilitator of advertising.
C. Music helps cut down the cost of advertising.
D. This, in turn, helps business reap commercial benefit.
E. They believe that doing this destroys the beauty of music.
F. It’s a popular art form which accompanies our daily lives.
G. But some people argue using music is a way to show respect for musicians.
F 2. B 3. A 4. D 5. E
1. 上文“Music is all around us.(音乐就在我们身边)”以及下文“Advertisers have long understood the popularity and emotional power of music and made good use of it.(广告商早就了解音乐的受欢迎程度和情感力量,并很好地利用了它)”说明音乐无处不在,所以广告商早已认识到音乐的普及性和情感力量并善加利用。空处承上启下,F项中的It指代前文中的Music,“a popular art form”和下文中的“popularity and emotional power of music”相呼应,说明音乐是一种流行的艺术形式,伴随着我们的日常生活。
2. 下文“It expands pictures and colors words, and often adds a form of energy available through no other source. Music matching the main message of an advertisement has a positive effect on consumer engagement.(它扩展了图片和单词的颜色,并经常添加一种无法通过其他来源获得的能量。与广告主要信息相匹配的音乐对消费者参与度有积极影响)”说明音乐在广告中的作用。空处需要概括下文的内容,引出音乐在广告中的作用。B项“音乐是广告的促进者。”符合语境。故选B.
3. 上文“Take the visually simple but interesting advertisement for Air France, with the soundtrack of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No.23, for example.(以法航的广告为例,这则广告在视觉上很简单,但很有趣,有莫扎特《第23号钢琴协奏曲》的配乐)”说明此处列举了法国航空公司的例子,使用了莫扎特的钢琴协奏曲作为背景音乐。 故选A。
4. 上文“Music is also effective at triggering feelings of nostalgia (怀旧之情). The emotional memories music arouses in advertisements serves as a reminder of consumers’ past experiences.(音乐也能有效地引发怀旧情绪。音乐在广告中唤起的情感记忆可以提醒消费者过去的经历)”说明音乐能激发怀旧之情,并且这种情感记忆能够提醒消费者过去的经历。空处需要进一步解释这种怀旧情感如何帮助广告达到目的。D项中“这反过来又有助于企业获得商业利益。”符合语境。故选D。
5. 上文“However, the use of popular music in advertising can also cause arguments around the tension between artistic effort and commercialism. Consumers sometimes passionately oppose the use of music produced by respected musicians in advertisements.(然而,在广告中使用流行音乐也会引发关于艺术努力和商业主义之间紧张关系的争论。消费者有时强烈反对在广告中使用受人尊敬的音乐家制作的音乐)”说明消费者有时强烈反对在广告中使用受尊敬的音乐家的作品。空处需要解释他们的反对理由,E项中的They指代前文中的“Consumers”,说明他们认为这样做会破坏音乐之美。故选E。
单元话题3 美术与摄影
(2024-2025学年高二上·江西景德镇·期中)There’s an art to arranging pictures on a wall. 1 . Are you trying to be surprising with your picture placement? Are you trying to arouse curiosity or attract people’s attention to a particular artwork? Once you’ve identified the goal, let the following general principles guide you.
Get the height right
Conventional wisdom says art should be hung at eye level. But “eye level” means different things to different people. So a basic rule is to hang pieces so that their centers are 56 to 60 inches above the floor. And if the art is going over furniture, aim to hang it 8 to 10 inches from the top of the sofa or whatever piece is beneath it. Whatever height you choose, keep in mind: from a psychological perspective, if it’s a scene from nature, for example, 2 .
Take care when grouping pieces
When grouping art pieces to create a gallery wall, give priority to the thing that is most special. 3 , ensuring there is a visually equal distance between one another. A good rule is to aim for two inches apart with smaller items, and at most six inches apart with larger works. In this case, it brings people a harmonious visual effect.
4
When arranging artwork in a group, look for one or two elements(元素) that repeat between the pieces, whether it’s a similar color, or a particular style of frame(框架). When they all share this common characteristic, the brain says, “Oh, this was meant to be,”—it becomes easier to process what you’ re looking at.
Create balance and symmetry(对称)
Research shows that humans prefer symmetry. A 2018 study from the University of Vienna found that both art history and psychology students at the university level prefer symmetrical patterns with art over asymmetrical ones; In other experiments, researchers in Rome found that visual symmetry even leads to positive mood changes in viewers.
Make a proper arrangement
Before you commit to the arrangement you have in mind by hammering(捶打) holes into a wall, lay out what you plan on the floor in advance to get a sense of how it will look. Consider this a rehearsal(彩排) for your personal art show. 5 .
A. Locate a consistent link.
B. Ensure two important repeated elements.
C. Be mindful of the space between the frames.
D. it’s most relaxing if it seems like we can step into it.
E. Once you’ve got the correct layout, hammer the nails.
F. it should be hung as high as possible to be more dramatic.
G. The first step is to think about what you’ re trying to achieve.
G 2. D 3. C 4. A 5. E
1. 根据上句“There’s an art to arranging pictures on a wall. (把画挂在墙上是一门艺术。)”以及后句“Are you trying to be surprising with your picture placement? Are you trying to arouse curiosity or attract people’s attention to a particular artwork? (你是想用你的照片来给人惊喜吗?你是想引起人们对某件艺术品的好奇心还是想吸引人们的注意力?)”为把画挂在墙上的效果的具体介绍。可知,设空处承上启下,说明画挂在墙上需要思考想要达到的效果,G项:The first step is to think about what you’ re trying to achieve(第一步是想想你想要达到什么目标)合乎题意,故选G。
2. 根据上句“Whatever height you choose, keep in mind: from a psychological perspective, if it’s a scene from nature, for example, (从心理学的角度来看,无论你选择什么高度,都要记住:例如,如果是大自然的场景)”可知,设空处为如果是大自然的场景,从心理学的角度来看应该达到的效果,D项:it’s most relaxing if it seems like we can step into it(如果我们可以进入大自然的场景,那是最放松的)合乎题意。故选D。
3. 根据后句“ensuring there is a visually equal distance between one another. (确保彼此之间的视觉距离相等。)”可知,确保彼此之间的视觉距离相等,需要注意框架之间的空间。C项:Be mindful of the space between the frames(注意框架之间的空间)合乎题意。故选C。
根据本段“When arranging artwork in a group, look for one or two elements (元素) that repeat between the pieces, whether it’s a similar color, or a particular style of frame (框架) (在一组作品中安排艺术品时,寻找一两个在作品之间重复的元素,无论是相似的颜色,还是特定风格的框架)”可知,这样做的目的是确保一致性链接,A项:Locate a consistent link(确定一致性链接)概括本段,合乎题意。故选A。
5. 根据上文“Before you commit to the arrangement you have in mind by hammering (捶打) holes into a wall, lay out what you plan on the floor in advance to get a sense of how it will look. 单元话题4 诗歌
I learned my first poem written by John Donne at school and I still remember the whole thing today. It’s just one of many poems I’ve stored in my memory, ready to recite(背诵) and enjoy whenever I please. It seems that poetry learning has gone out of fashion, but I’m still a fan because it doesn’t just breed a lifelong love of poetry. 1 So why not dig out a poem you love and use it to exercise your recall?
Step 1. Know that poems are designed to stick in your mind. 2 See how they leave you with memory-arousing images, how they surprise you by breaking the rules, and how they control your senses and emotions. These are all great ways to make information more memorable.
Step 2. 3 When you’re learning a poem, try linking the last word of one line to the first word of the next. In my John Donne’s poem, one line ends with “see”, and the next starts with “which”, so I pictured a “sea witch”. Making links like these can also help with learning names, and many other kinds of information.
Step 3. Put in a performance. When you’re practising a poem, read it aloud, as dramatically and emotionally as you can. 4
Step 4. Enjoy yourself. Learning poems gives your memory a workout, which improves your mood and gets you into good learning habits. Have fun putting rhymes into your shopping list, using rhythm to learn names, or “performing” revision notes before an exam.
5 And, in the process, you’ll be making your memory stronger for everything.
A. Learn through links since memory relies on connections.
B. It also boosts confidence and develops lasting memory skills.
C. So identify the tricks poets use — rhythm, rhyme and repetition.
D. Thus, short poems are good options because they are easily memorized.
E. Follow these steps to appreciate poems and enjoy them wherever you are.
F. Memory experts believe poetry learning can even cultivate an interest in study.
G. Adding gestures and moving around the room can also strengthen your learning.
B 2. C 3. A 4. G 5. E
1. 根据前一句“It seems that poetry learning has gone out of fashion, but I’m still a fan because it doesn’t just breed a lifelong love of poetry(似乎诗歌学习已经过时了,但我仍然是一个粉丝,因为它不仅培养了对诗歌的终身热爱)”可知,空格处的句子应该接着说作者喜欢学诗歌的原因,所以B项“It also boosts confidence and develops lasting memory skills.(它还能增强信心,培养持久的记忆技能)”填入空格处符合语境,B选项中的also与前一句中的doesn’t just形成“不仅……而且……”结构。故选B项。
2. 根据空格前的句子“Know that poems are designed to stick in your mind. (要知道,诗歌的设计是为了让你铭记在心)”可知,空格处的句子应该解释诗歌适合记忆的因素,所以C项“So identify the tricks poets use — rhythm, rhyme and repetition.(所以要识别诗人使用的技巧——节奏、押韵和重复。)”填入空格处,符合语境。故选C项。
3. 根据空格后的句子“When you’re learning a poem, try linking the last word of one line to the first word of the next.(当你学习一首诗的时候,试着把一行的最后一个单词和下一行的第一个单词连起来。)”可知,空格处的句子应该是建议通过联系来学习诗歌,所以A项“Learn through links since memory relies on connections.(通过联系来学习,因为记忆依赖于联系。)” 故选A项。
4. 根据前文“Put in a performance. When you’re practising a poem, read it aloud, as dramatically and emotionally as you can.(进行表演。当你练习一首诗的时候,大声朗读,尽可能戏剧化和充满感情。)”可知,空格处的句子应该是建议通过表演来学习诗歌,所以G项“Adding gestures and moving around the room can also strengthen your learning.(增加手势和在房间里走动也可以加强你的学习。)”
5. 空格处的句子在最后一段,是总结句,应该是对以上提到的几种方法的总结,所以E项“Follow these steps to appreciate poems and enjoy them wherever you are.(按照这些步骤来欣赏诗歌,无论你在哪里都能享受它们。)”
Short-form videos, also known as Shorts, have gained great popularity, particularly on platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels. 1 However, there’s a growing concern that watching too many Shorts can affect children’s brains.
The phenomenon known as “TikTok Brain” arises from the app’s short and addictive videos. Similar to candy, these videos generate rapid dopamine(多巴胺) releases, stimulating the brain’s pleasure center. A study was conducted to investigate the impact of Shorts on the teenage brains. 2 They stimulated the brain’s reward centers more intensely than random videos.
Our brains process visual information faster than text, which explains why videos tend to outperform text-based content online. Due to their underdeveloped reading skills, children are more easily to become addicted to visual stimuli. Remarkably, social media platforms can do a lot harm to the development of reading habits among younger users. 3
According to Jessica Griffin, a professor of child psychology, Shorts affect the developing brains of children and teenagers. The prefrontal cortex(前额叶皮质) is responsible for attention, self-control, memory, and learning flexibility. 4 This delayed development makes young individuals more easily influenced by Shorts.
In conclusion, the constant exposure to fast-paced and stimulating content in Shorts can impact children’s attention. To address this issue, parents can have open conversations with their children about the potential risks. 5 Furthermore, encouraging physical activities and outdoor experiences is also crucial to develop a balance d lifestyle.
A. Some even do not include text at all.
B. TikTok’s feed is created addictive by design.
C. But it does not fully mature until around the age of 25.
D. It is helpful to use screen time management tools for Shorts.

Why we forget?
Remembering things is an important function of our brain — if we can’t recall how to do something, we can’t survive. If you think about it, there is so much we have to remember — from where we leave our car keys to how we walk. 1
Memory allows the brain to store and recall information when required. Our short-term memory can hold a small amount of information for a short time, while our long-term memory can hold an unlimited amount of information for a long time. Our memory is amazing, but why do we still forget things?
It maybe because we are in a rush or we consider it irrelevant at the time. When we do store information, we often make connections with other things, which helps us recall it later. 2 It is also possible that memories decline over time. If you don’t perform a task for a long period of time, it can be difficult to recall how to do it. This could be because our memory is full,or that our short-term memory is easier to access.
3 Have you ever gone into a room to fetch something only to forget what you wanted when you got there? This is called “The Doorway Effect”. This occurs because we change both the physical and mental environments, moving to a different room and thinking about many different things.
So, if you have a mind like a sieve(筛子) ,it could be because you have too much on your mind. But we do need to keep our memory sharp by continually using it. 4 That’s when we’re at more risk of getting Alzheimer’s disease.
However, forgetting is not always a bad thing! It would waste cognitive resources if we remembered every detail of the world around us. 5
A. That’s something worth remembering!
B. Maybe it’s no surprise that sometimes we are forgetful.
C. But sometimes even our short-term memory can let us down.
D. If you don’t have these connections, then it can be easier to forget.
E. However, it is widely recognized that short-term memory can be improved.
F. We also need some mental relaxation such as listening to some classical music.
G. Beyond our 50s, our brains tend to shrink in volume and our memory begins to decline.
B 2. D 3. C 4. G 5. A

(2024-2025学年高二上·湖南长沙·开学考试)A large part of the world’s total sugar supply comes from beets. Most markets carry this sugar, but it may not always be clearly labeled. You may think the white sugar you just bought is made from sugarcane. 1
Beets have been an important crop in human agriculture for centuries, with evidence of their planting dating back to ancient civilizations in Europe. However, it was not until the16th century that beets’ potential as a source of sugar was realized. 2 Later, they slowly spread to America.
One key advantage of using beets for sugar is that compared to sugarcane, beets can be planted in cooler regions. 3 Beet sugar is also easier to produce. just requiring very basic processing. So in consideration of the cost- effective characteristics, beets are an attractive alternative to sugarcane.
4 The initial step involves washing and cutting up the beets, followed by passing them through a machine that forces hot water past the beet pieces. The resulting juice is then combined with liquids squeezed from the beets. The mixture is then heated, leading to a thick, sweet liquid. Finally, the liquid is further processed to obtain beet sugar, which is chemically nearly identical to sugarcane sugar.
The quantities of beet sugar and sugarcane sugar can be used equally in baking recipes. 5 While some people are able to tell a difference, many others can’t tell whether a baked treat has been made with beet sugar or sugarcane sugar. So beet sugar sometimes can replace sugarcane sugar in a baking recipe.
A. Beets can be easily processed.
B. But its source may be actually beets.
C. The flavour of baked goods is quite similar.
D. Let’s look at how exactly to make beet sugar.
E. In most cases, people tend to eat sugarcane sugar.
F. Besides, beets are tougher and able to grow on land of poor quality.
G. Therefore, beet sugar processing plants began to be built in Europe.

SETTING A GOAL OF PAINTING
You’ll find that having a clear goal when you go out painting will make you a better painter, faster. 1 The goals are as follows.
Explore an area. 2 . When in Scotland for the first time, I didn’t know what to paint. So, rather than making finished paintings, I focused on just sketching(素描) the things that were new to me. It’s a relaxing approach to painting, and it helps you get familiar with a strange land.
3 . It’s like exploring, but with more focus. On my Scotland trip, I became fond of a beautiful, ancient stone bridge and knew I wanted to make a big painting of it when I got home. I collected color studies in gouache(水粉画), pencil sketches and photos. Once home, where I had all the tools and materials ready, I was able to create that larger work.
Work on a skill or problem. This is usually a workshop goal, but you can do it on your own. If you don’t understand color temperature, consider making color studies in different temperature. 4 : Is it true that white in shadow is darker than black in light? See for yourself by observing and painting such a situation.
Create a finished painting. This can be a difficult task compared to the others. You have to be at the top of your game, employing good design, good color and good edge treatment. I usually do this for open-air contests or when I’m practicing for one. Many artists, however, often enjoy bringing a painting fully to completion at the scene. 5
A. Have a good trip
B. Gather reference materials
C. Before this you’d better make a plan
D. This is what I do if I’m in unfamiliar area

1. 根据上文“There are numerous reasons why people don’t take First Aid training programs.(人们不参加急救培训课程的原因有很多)”以及后文“Or they think that accidents happen to other people, not to them or their friends, family and colleagues.(或者他们认为事故发生在其他人身上,而不是发生在他们自己或他们的朋友、家人和同事身上)”可知,上文提到人们不参加急救培训项目的原因有很多,接下来举例说明原因,后文Or说明这里列举了两个原因。
2. 根据本段内容“Having a basic first aid knowledge means that you’ll be confident in your skills and abilities in relation to first aid administration. By taking first aid training, it helps you to reflect on yourself and how you and others react in certain situations. Having this understanding will boost your confidence in a wide range of non-medical day-to-day situations.(有一个基本的急救知识意味着你将对你的技能和能力在急救管理方面有信心。通过接受急救培训,它可以帮助你反思自己,以及你和其他人在某些情况下的反应。有了这方面的了解,你会在日常的非医疗状况中增强信心)”可知,本段主要讲述具备基本的急救知识意味着对自己在急救管理方面的技能和能力充满信心。D选项“它增加了进行急救的信心”符合语境,故选D。

Mobile Phones in Education: A Double-Edged Sword
The widespread use of mobile phones has changed how we communicate daily, but their place in education is still a matter of debate. While some think of them as a trouble, others feel they can serve as a useful tool for learning. 1 Some people doubt whether students are focused on their lessons or are instead distracted (使分心) by their devices, texting or even trying to cheat by taking photos of tests. There’s also a chance they’re playing games or watching videos on their phones instead of listening to the teacher.
2 For example, France has made a law that doesn’t allow students under 15 to use mobile phones in school. The problem of students using mobile phones in class is a real worry. They are checking their phones, texting or going on social media. 3 Therefore, to deal with the problem, some schools have started using tech solutions. Schools have begun to use special boxes to keep students’ phones during school time, so they won’t be tempted to use them.
The idea of limiting mobile phone use isn’t just happening in a few schools. Over 30 schools in France have put some kind of limit on mobile phone use this year or last year, with different areas making their own rules about phones.
4 The teachers in these schools believe that students have grown up with mobile phones. Teachers think it’s their job to teach students how to use mobile phones the right way as a learning tool. They also teach about how to use phones properly, including how to be responsible with social media and the Internet. 5 In their eye, the technology has already existed, so schools should use it to help students and not fear it.
A. It’s apparent that mobile phones can destroy a child.
B. They regard it as part of changing education for children.
C. Students are often distracted by their mobile phones during class time.
D. However, a number of schools have decided against a complete ban on mobile phones.
E. In fact, with proper guidance, mobile phones can boost the learning experience.
F. Surprisingly, some students even devote up to 12 hours daily to their mobile phones.
G. Educators are exploring the most effective ways to monitor student mobile phone usage.
C 2. G 3. F 4. D 5. B
1. 下文“Some people doubt whether students are focused on their lessons or are instead distracted (使分心) by their devices, texting or even trying to cheat by taking photos of tests. There’s also a chance they’re playing games or watching videos on their phones instead of listening to the teacher.(有些人怀疑学生是否专注于他们的课程,或者反而被他们的设备、发短信甚至拍照作弊所分散注意力。还有可能他们在上课时用手机玩游戏或看视频,而不是听老师讲课)”说明学生的注意力被分散了,所以空格处也应该描述手机很容易分散学生的注意力。C项“在上课期间学生很容易被他们的手机影响。”引出了下文关于学生在课堂上使用手机可能带来的问题,符合语境,故选C项。
2. 下文“For example, France has made a law that doesn’t allow students under 15 to use mobile phones in school. (例如,法国已经实施了一项法律,禁止15岁以下的学生在学校使用手机) ”说明法国的一项法律禁止15岁以下的学生在学校使用手机,空处需要引出下文关于如何监控学生手机使用的讨论, 寻找监管学生使用手机的方法。G项“教育工作者正在努力找出控制学生使用手机的最佳方法。”与下文提到的法国的法律措施相呼应,符合语境,故选G项。

4. 上文“Over 30 schools in France have put some kind of limit on mobile phone use this year or last year, with different areas making their own rules about phones.(法国已有超过30所学校在今年或去年对手机使用设定了某种限制,不同地区制定了各自的手机管理规则)”说明许多学校采取了限制手机使用的措施,下文“The teachers in these schools believe that students have grown up with mobile phones. Teachers think it’s their job to teach students how to use mobile phones the right way as a learning tool. They also teach about how to use phones properly, including how to be responsible with social media and the Internet.(这些学校的教师认为学生是在手机的伴随下长大的。
5. 上文“The teachers in these schools believe that students have grown up with mobile phones. Teachers think it’s their job to teach students how to use mobile phones the right way as a learning tool. They also teach about how to use phones properly, including how to be responsible with social media and the Internet.(这些学校的教师认为学生是在手机的伴随下长大的。

做题时注意在选项中查找表示结果、结论、总结等的信号词如therefore, as a result, thus, hence, in short, to sum up, to conclude, in a word等词语。

E. Short-term memory and the ability to concentrate are affected.
F. It revealed that these videos are personalized, selected and fed to users.

E. Or you may have a question you want to answer
F. It takes experience, time and energy and plenty of coffee
G. Consider having one of four simple goals before heading out
