一、阅读理解
A
London and Paris are two of Europe’s biggest tourist destinations, just a few hours away from each other by road or rail and an hour’s distance by air. What about the train-ferry combination that many recall fondly from their childhoods? Well, though it’s budget-saving, this option is too time-consuming today, so better leave it to your memories. Since the UK is not part the Schengen Area, passengers need to go through passport control prior to boarding.
Air trips
Though flying between London and Paris is by no means recommended, there are still a few people traveling between the two dynamic cities by air. A very low one-way fare is possible through advanced booking, but of course it’s rare, and that doesn’t include the taxi and rail fares traveling to and from the airports.
* One-way fares from Paris can be as low as 49;
* From London, Air France flies with fares as low as £39(46), and British Airways as low as £48 (56).
Rail trips
The only direct train between London and Paris is the Eurostar, which travels 15 -17 times per weekday. Eurostar’s 2015 edition trains can make the journey in two hours at speeds of up to 320 km/h. Besides, they offer good seating space.
* Fares begin at a reasonable £58(68), round trip;
* The earlier you book, the more you save.
Bus trips
The bus is by far the least expensive and longest way to travel between Paris and London. Eurolines and OUIBUS are two major bus lines traveling between the two capitals. The journey takes between seven and nine hours. Both lines advertise free Wi-Fi.
* One-way Eurolines fares begin at 15;
* One-way OUIBUS fares begin at 15 too, but early bird sales can even lower the fare.
1. Which way is probably the cheapest for a round trip?
A. By train-ferry. B. By air. C. By rail. D. By bus.
2. What special service does the bus trip provide?
A. Free booking. B. Taxi pickup.
C. Good seating space. D. Free Wi-Fi.
3. What do the trips have in common with each other?
A. There are different competing companies.
B. They are cheaper if booked ahead of time.
C. They are more expensive from the Paris end.
D. There are still additional fees to be included.
【答案】1. D 2. D 3. B
【解析】
【导语】这是一篇应用文。文章主要介绍了去伦敦和巴黎这两个欧洲最大的旅游目的地旅行的交通方式的详细信息。
【1题详解】
细节理解题。根据第一段中“What about the train-ferry combination that many recall fondly from their childhoods? Well, though it’s budget-saving, this option is too time-consuming today, so better leave it to your memories. (火车和轮渡的组合会让许多人回忆起童年时的美好回忆吗?好吧,虽然这是节省预算,但这个选择在今天太耗时了,所以最好留给你的记忆) ”可知,作者不建议搭乘火车轮渡组合,且没有给出具体价格,所以无法比较。根据Air trips中“* One-way fares from Paris can be as low as €49; * From London, Air France flies with fares as low as £39(€46), and British Airways as low as £48(€56) (从巴黎来的单程票价可以低到€49;从伦敦起飞,法航的机票价格低到£39(€46),英国航空公司的最低水平£48(€56)) ”可知,乘坐飞机往返的最低票价是49+46=95欧元;根据Rail trips中“* Fares begin at a reasonable £58(€68), round trip; (票价以合理的价格开始£58(€68),往返)”可知,乘火车的话往返最低是68欧元;根据Bus trip中“* One-way Eurolines fares begin at €15;* One-way OUIBUS fares begin at €15 too, but early bird sales can even lower the fare. (Eurolines线路的单程票价从€15起;OUIBUS线路的单程票从€15起,但早起购买可以得到更低票价)”可知,乘汽车,往返票价最低是30欧元,甚至更低。由此可知,往返旅行最便宜的是乘汽车。故选D。
【2题详解】
细节理解题。根据Bus trip中“Both lines advertise free Wi-fi. (这两条线路都宣传免费Wi-fi)”可知,汽车旅行的特殊服务就是免费的Wi-fi。故选D。
【3题详解】
细节理解题。根据Air trips中“A very low one-way fare is possible through advanced booking, but of course it’s rare, and that doesn’t include the taxi and rail fares traveling to and from the airports. (通过提前预订可以获得非常低的单程票价,但这当然很少见,这还不包括往返机场的出租车和火车票价) ”、Rail trips中“The earlier you book, the more you save. (你预订得越早,省的钱就越多)”和Bus trip中“One-way OUIBUS fares begin at €15 too, but early bird sales can even lower the fare. (OUIBUS线路的单程票从€15起,但早购买可以得到更低票价)”可知,这三种旅行方式的共同点是:如果提前预定的话,会便宜点。故选B。

Given the chance, 15-year-old Lenny King likes nothing more than to climb over seven foot-high garden fences and run across the busy road to the Co-op, which he associates with free biscuits. His sister Daisy, 17, frequently falls over, and she was told she’d never walk.
The eldest, 19-year-old Rosie, might launch into an outburst of swearing (咒骂) at any moment. The King family are special in a number of ways. Not only are all three children on the autism (自闭症) spectrum, but their parents — rather than see their situation as at best unlucky and at worst a curse (诅咒) — regard it as a blessing. “In some ways my children are forever young, so while in most families the children grow up and pull away from their parents, mine continue to be a source of childlike surprises,” says Mum Sharon, 47.
Sharon and Richard King met in a Wakefield nightclub. Sharon had a normal pregnancy (怀孕) and gave birth to Rosie, who was a highly developed youngster. While her parents thought her “a bit different”, they saw no reason to be concerned about having a second child. Two years later Daisy was born and, within 12 months, she was diagnosed (诊断) with the rare genetic condition Kabuki Syndrome which is a rare, multi-system disorder characterized by abnormalities including distinctive facial features, growth delays, varying degrees of intellectual disability.
The Kings were told that Daisy may never walk or talk, though she proved the doctors wrong in the first instance by getting to her feet, aged five. Sharon and Richard, a 52-year-old civil engineer, were also advised to think carefully about having any more children. At that point Sharon was already six months pregnant with Lenny. When their son was 18 months old, the Kings noticed that he wasn’t meeting his developmental milestones and doctors raised the possibility that he might be autistic. Lenny was finally diagnosed with classic autism before his third birthday, which then raised questions about nine-year-old Rosie. Tests revealed she had high functioning Asperger’s (阿斯伯格综合征).
Now Lenny and Daisy are collected by an autism resource centre at 8 a. m. each day and returned at 4 p. m. People who are not defeated by suffering are brave warriors in life, and they definitely will have a bright future.
4. Which can best describe Sharon?
A. Optimistic. B. Pitiful. C. Inspiring. D. Grateful.
5. Why did the couple have a second child without any concern?
A. They were healthy. B. They prefer a large family.
C. Rosie seemed almost normal. D. There was no history of the illness in them.
6. What happened to Rosie?
A. She was infected by Lenny. B. She also carried some disease.
C. She was ignored by her parents. D. She was diagnosed with autism at birth.
7. What’s the author’s purpose in writing the text?
A. To explain the unfairness of life. B. To encourage readers to offer help.
C. To persuade people to focus on autism. D. To tell people to be positive about misfortune.
【答案】4. A 5. C 6. B 7. D

A new trend called “praise groups” or “in-need-of-praise” chat groups has become popular on Chinese social media. In Chinese culture, where modesty (谦逊) is valued, openly seeking and giving praise is uncommon. These chat groups provide a platform for people to receive compliments (赞扬) and encouragement, which are often lacking in their daily lives.
To join a praise group users can pay a fee on e-commerce sites, starting at 50 yuan for five minutes of compliments. The group members will then show the person with praises and kind words. The compliments can be designed for a friend or loved one as well. Participants have found that being praised by strangers can help lift their spirits and improve their self-confidence.
For example, Meng Zha, a student at Shanghai’s Tongji University, tried the service and found it amusing and uplifting. She received compliments on her appearance and even quotes (引用) from popular songs. Ms Meng couldn’t help but laugh at the compliments and expressed her desire to post such high-quality praises in the future.
Praise groups have appeared as a way for people in China to seek and receive compliments and encouragement that may be lacking in their daily lives. It provides a positive and uplifting experience for participants, improving a sense of happiness and self-worth.
Those who support the groups, see them as an antidote to extremely bad moods (情绪) which are often associated with things happening on the Internet. “At first, the purpose of this group is to make us learn to praise others and accept others’ praises confidently. Here we can drop everything, and use our heart to praise and support others,” one member said. But the life journey is long and there are some unexpected situations that we can only count on ourselves to face when there is no one out there to offer help.
8. What is the purpose of praise groups?
A. To make praise popular. B. To have everyone supported.
C. To share common interests. D. To give people hope and happiness.
9. What can we learn about Meng Zha in paragraph 3?

C. She was satisfied with the service. D. She was a gifted singer in her area.
10. What does the underlined word “antidote” mean in the last paragraph?
A. A way of making new friends. B. A kind of medicine.
C. A method of being confident. D. The wisdom of solving problems.
11. What is the author's attitude to praise groups?
A. Objective. B. Critical. C. Supportive. D. Unclear.

According to the US Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), six red wolf pups (幼崽) were found in North Carolina’s Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge last week. That’s great news for endangered red wolves, and marks the first time these pups have been born in the wild since 2020.
Long ago, red wolves lived all through the US Southeast. But as the wolves were hunted, and as more and more land was taken over for cities, roads and farms, the wolves began to die out.
In 1973, a new law called the Endangered Species Act was passed, which was designed to protect animals that were in danger of dying out, like red wolves. At the time, there were only about 17 red wolves remaining in the wild.14 of those wolves were caught and fed by researchers to protect them. Then, the FWS conducted a program called the Red Wolf Recovery Program. But by 1980, red wolves were believed to have been extinct in the wild.
Luckily, the wolves did well under people’s care, and their numbers continued to grow. Soon the FWS began releasing red wolves back into the wild. Those wolves with tracking collars spread out, paired up, and began to have pups. By 2012, red wolf numbers had hit a new high point of about 120 wolves in the wild. The program’s success led to many other programs aimed at bringing animals back from the edge of extinction.
Sadly, though, wild red wolf numbers began to drop again. Some wolves were shot and others were hit by cars. As the number of adults fell. the number of pups being born also began to drop. In 2020, a total of four pups were born in the wild. In 2021, 2022 and 2023, no wild pups were born at all.
So the news that six pups hatched in the wild this year is a huge boost. But the good news isn’t an accident.
12. How did the FWS protect red wolves?
A. It made a new law to protect them. B. It kept them in the wild.
C. It moved them into a new habitat. D. It carried out a recovery program.
13. What is partly responsible for the reduced number of red wolves in recent years? ?
A. The lack of food B. The worsened weather.
C. The illegal hunting. D. The loss of forests.
14. What will be talked about in the following paragraph?
A. The accidents that happened this year. B. The effort the FWS has made.
C. The wishes from the researchers. D. The health condition of the pups.
15. What can be a suitable title for the passage?
A. Endangered Species Act Taking Effect B. Red Wolf Pups Decreasing in the US
C. Endangered Red Wolf Pups Born in the Wild D. Future Faced by Endangered Red Wolves
【答案】12. D 13. C 14. B 15. C

【15题详解】

How to have an attractive personality
Demonstrating an attractive personality is key to making friends and having lasting relationships. These traits (特性) give you the ability to inspire and fascinate others, making others more drawn to you as a result.
Listen to others. ___16___ Instead of responding to a text, opening an email, or thinking about your next meal, pay attention to what the other person is saying. Show them you’re listening and interested by commenting on the story or asking questions.
Speak sincerely. No one likes to be cheated. ___17___ If you can’t commit to something, it’s better to be honest about it than to have to tell them at the last minute that you can’t make it. When people ask for your opinion, you should be honest.
___18___ You should always say what you believe in, be willing to take risks, and have the ability to admit your mistake without being worried about what other people will think. Doing this shows that you have self-confidence. This helps create an attractive personality.
Know “how” vs “what”. How you say things is arguably more important than what you say. If you try to give someone a genuine compliment, but he or she thinks you say it with a sarcastic undertone, your compliment won’t mean a thing. ___19___ If you notice that people often take things you say the wrong way, there’s a good chance you can change how you speak. Ask your friends to make you aware of the way you’re coming across.
Show enthusiasm for everything. Even if something makes you slightly uncomfortable, handle it with a smile on your face, an open mind, and a sense of humor. Not every day is going to be perfect, but being enthusiastic can help you accomplish anything. ___20___
A. Tell people the truth.
B. You may make things bad.
C. Be aware of the way you speak.

五、书面表达
47. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
I had booked the flights in somewhat of a hurry with just a carry-on bag, thinking 7 kgs was enough for a 3-day trip to Taupo. I thought I’d given myself enough time to get to the airport, however, as often was the case, I was running late and had to pack my bag with little time left. Confused about what to carry, I stuffed all the clothes in my little bag, taking no notice of the weight.
Thirty minutes before the flight, I was waiting at my terminal (航站楼) in the airport and couldn’t stop smiling. I was too excited to go on a much-needed trip. A little while later, I heard an announcement “Passengers flying to Taupo on Flight NZ5091 are requested to weigh your cabin luggage and collect your tag”. I stood in the line waiting for my turn, clueless about how much my bag would weigh, deep inside hoping not over the weight limit.
When it was my turn, I placed my bag on the weighing scale and whoaaaa!! It was 9.4 kgs. I asked the flight attendant if I could buy $20 extra luggage allowance (行李费) as shown on the app but I was too late for it. Instead, I was asked to pay an additional fee of $65. I either had to pay or leave something away to bring it down to 7 kgs. I asked the attendant whether they would give my stuff back to me if I returned 3 days later and surprisingly I was told I wouldn’t get it back.
To me, a bad luggage experience had the power to completely sour a trip. With no other alternatives, I decided to give up some of my stuff. Unsettled, annoyed, disappointed! As I started removing the items, I saw a lady approaching me. It looked like she had heard the whole thing. She sat down next to me. “Are you OK? I should be able to help you.” She said.
注意:
(1)续写词数应为150个左右;
(2)请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

【答案】 I looked up, surprised, and saw her pointing at her bag. She said he didn’t take many things and could help me share some of my belongings. I couldn’t believe the help from a stranger. But, I thought to myself “this is the best way.” I am grateful to her for her kindness and transferred my overweight items to her bag. I managed to get on the plane without paying any extra fees. When we got on the plane, our seats were far apart and we didn’t communicate much, so I knew very little about this stranger.
While I was worried whether I could get my stuff back, the plane landed. There were a lot of people getting out of the plane. I was waiting for my turn and waiting for the strange woman to pass me by and return my stuff. In fact, I had been prepared for the worst. All sorts of disturbing thoughts ran through my mind. Just then, the strange woman tapped me on the shoulder. And voluntarily returned my things. I thanked the strange woman from the bottom of my heart. It also gave me a new faith in humanity.

一、阅读理解
A
London and Paris are two of Europe’s biggest tourist destinations, just a few hours away from each other by road or rail and an hour’s distance by air.
* One-way fares from Paris can be as low as 49;
* From London, Air France flies with fares as low as £39(46), and British Airways as low as £48 (56).
Rail trips
The only direct train between London and Paris is the Eurostar, which travels 15 -17 times per weekday. Eurostar’s 2015 edition trains can make the journey in two hours at speeds of up to 320 km/h. Besides, they offer good seating space.
* Fares begin at a reasonable £58(68), round trip;
* One-way Eurolines fares begin at 15;
* One-way OUIBUS fares begin at 15 too, but early bird sales can even lower the fare.
1. Which way is probably the cheapest for a round trip?
A. By train-ferry. B. By air. C. By rail. D. By bus.
2. What special service does the bus trip provide?
A Free booking. B. Taxi pickup.
C. Good seating space. D. Free Wi-Fi.
3 What do the trips have in common with each other?
A. There are different competing companies.
B. They are cheaper if booked ahead of time.
C. They are more expensive from the Paris end.
D. There are still additional fees to be included.
B
C
A new trend called “praise groups” or “in-need-of-praise” chat groups has become popular on Chinese social media. In Chinese culture, where modesty (谦逊) is valued, openly seeking and giving praise is uncommon. These chat groups provide a platform for people to receive compliments (赞扬) and encouragement, which are often lacking in their daily lives.
To join a praise group, users can pay a fee on e-commerce sites, starting at 50 yuan for five minutes of compliments.
A. She was not strong enough. B. She was under working stress.

12 How did the FWS protect red wolves?

Even if something makes you slightly uncomfortable handle it with a smile on your face, an open mind, and a sense of humor. Not every day is going to be perfect, but being enthusiastic can help you accomplish anything. ___20___
A. Tell people the truth.
B. You may make things bad.
C. Be aware of the way you speak.
D. Have confidence in how you speak and act.
E. When you act this way, people will love being around you.
F. Asking questions is important when it comes to confidence.
