Teens grow quickly, not just in height, but also in their feelings and ideas about the world. At the same time, they are still figuring out who they really are. On top of all that, they start to want more freedom. Teenagers also face pressure from friends, school, and family. Sometimes, they may feel stressed about keeping up with schoolwork or fitting in with their friends. Peer pressure can make them do things they might not be sure about. But it’s also when they build strong friendships and discover what really matters to them. At this age, it’s important for teens to have support from parents and other trusted adults. While they may want to make their own choices, talking things through with someone they trust can make a big difference. Even though teens might make mistakes, it’s all part of learning and growing. By understanding what they go through, we can help them feel confident and ready for the future. Thanks for joining us today. Stay tuned for more discussions like this, and take care! A Escaping the city and getting back to nature is a great way to relax and recharge — there is nothing quite like sleeping in a treehouse. These new treehouses range from cosy to luxurious. Besides the well-known Bower Treehouse, we’ve found a few others in the UK. Gwdy Hw, Wales In the heart of the Welsh mountains, Gwdy Hw has six treehouses designed with the surrounding woodland in mind, so much so that they melt smoothly into the valley’s treeline. Each cosy treehouse features a wood-burning stove, a double bed, and a toilet. The only thing missing is electricity, so you can avoid using your digital devices and exchange electric lights for twinkling lanterns while reading comfortably under blankets. Netherby Estate, Cumbria Set in the grounds of the Netherby Estate, with views of the Scottish border, this cabin-like outpost (前哨基地) has been built among ancient oak trees. That makes it feel a little more well- built than other treehouses, but it’s a cosy nest, just the same, and is filled with home comforts. Kids will love the mezzanine level (夹层), accessed by a ladder, while adults will enjoy the outdoor hot bath. Treetops at the Fox & Hounds Country Hotel, Devon If you only saw the inside of this luxury space, you’d have trouble believing it was actually supported on stilts (桩子) and built around a tree. There’s a free-standing bathtub, for starters, as well as a living room with a sofa, a king-size bedroom and amazing wooden inner parts throughout. A private terrace (露台) overlooks the fishing lake, providing a true escape into nature. 21. If you want to take a break from social media, which treehouse should you consider? A. Bower Treehouse. B. Gwdy Hw, Wales. C. Netherby Estate, Cumbria. D. Treetops at the Fox & Hounds Country Hotel, Devon. 22. Netherby Estate, Cumbria is a great place for you to ________. A. lie in bed counting stars B. cook food for your family C. have fun fishing with your friends D. enjoy the sight of ancient oak trees 23. Where is the text probably taken from? A. A research paper. B. A travel brochure. C. A novel. D. A fashion magazine. B 22. D 23. 根据Gwdy Hw, Wales标题下最后一句话“The only thing missing is electricity, so you can avoid using your digital devices and exchange electric lights for twinkling lanterns while reading comfortably under blankets.(没有的唯一东西是电,因此您可以避免使用数字设备,换掉电灯,用闪烁的灯笼在毯子下舒适地阅读。)” 根据Netherby Estate, Cumbria标题下“Set in the grounds of the Netherby Estate, with views of the Scottish border, this cabin-like outpost (前哨基地) has been built among ancient oak trees.(坐落在Netherby庄园的场地上,可以看到苏格兰的边界,这个类似小屋的前哨基地建在古老的橡树之间。)” 根据第一段“Escaping the city and getting back to nature is a great way to relax and recharge—there is nothing quite like sleeping in a treehouse. These new treehouses range from cosy to luxurious. Besides the well-known Bower Treehouse, we’ve found a few others in the UK.(逃离城市,回归自然是放松和充电的绝佳方式——没有什么比睡在树屋里更与众不同。这些新树屋从舒适到奢华应有尽有。除了著名的博尔树屋之外,我们还在英国找到了其他几处。)”可知,本文是为了向希望逃离城市生活亲近自然的人们介绍几个在英国的树屋,故文章来源最有可能是旅游册子,故选B。 B Hailey Magee rushed home from school crying after seeing that she’d received an A-minus on her grade report card. Growing up she had learned that the way to receive confirmation (认可) and love from family members and teachers was to be a high achiever. So to Magee, that A-minus felt like a failure. “I was shattered,” she said. “In that moment, I felt like my self-worth as a human had fallen far below what it would have been if I’d gotten an A or an A-plus.” Magee’s turning a good grade into a cause of her inferiority (自卑) is a textbook example of a growing trend in recent years: Perfectionist (完美主义) behavior. Perfectionism is now a growing cultural phenomenon. High levels of perfectionism were linked with depression, anxiety, eating disorders and self-harm. The constant stress of attempting to be perfect can also leave people stressed and suffering from headaches and insomnia (失眠). Many parents today feel a sense of competitiveness that they may push onto their kids, whether by pressuring them to get perfect grades so they can get into top schools or engaging them in extracurricular (课外的) activities that might look good on a college application. But if a child is only rewarded for high achievement, over time they learn that their value as a person depends on being perfect. Instagram, Facebook and other social media platforms also increase unhealthy comparisons. “It’s a real problem — those social media images end up serving as standards that people can compare themselves to and a perfectionist is always trying to keep up with the Joneses,” Sherry, a clinical psychologist, said. And it’s never been harder to keep up with the Joneses, because today we are constantly bombed with seemingly perfect images of other peoples’ lives. Eventually Magee learned that she had to let go a little and allow herself to show up with all her imperfections. She eventually learned to trust that she could show up, not being perfect, and still feel valued. She said, “I can be imperfect and everything can be fine!” 24. How did Hailey Magee feel when she got an A-minus? A. Satisfied. B. Disappointed. C. Excited. D. Uninterested. 25. Perfectionism may result in the following problems EXCEPT ________. A. increased stress levels B. high work efficiency C. negative feelings D. physical problems 26. Why do parents today feel the need to push their children towards high achievement? A. To ensure their children have a happy childhood. B. To help their children avoid the pressure of competition. C. Due to their own sense of competitiveness and the influence of social media. D. Because high achievement is the only way to gain recognition and love. 27. What did Hailey Magee realize in the end? A. She needed to hide her imperfections to be accepted. B. She could be imperfect and still feel valued. C. She should only compare herself to others who are perfect. D. Social media was the main cause of her perfectionism. B 25. B 26. C 27. 根据第一段“Hailey Magee rushed home from school crying after seeing that she’d received an A-minus on her grade report card.(Hailey Magee看到成绩单上得了A-后哭着跑回家)”可知,Hailey Magee哭着跑回家,可推知,Hailey Magee感到失望。 根据第二段“High levels of perfectionism were linked with depression, anxiety, eating disorders and self-harm. The constant stress of attempting to be perfect can also leave people stressed and suffering from headaches and insomnia (失眠).(高度的完美主义与抑郁、焦虑、饮食失调和自残有关,而且不断追求完美带来的压力也会使人感到紧张,出现头痛和失眠的症状)”可推断出,完美主义会导致压力增加、负面情绪和身体健康问题,但不会提高工作效率,因此选项B“高工作效率”不属于完美主义导致的问题。故选B。 【26题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“Many parents today feel a sense of competitiveness that they may push onto their kids, whether by pressuring them to get perfect grades so they can get into top schools or engaging them in extracurricular (课外的) activities that might look good on a college application. But if a child is only rewarded for high achievement, over time they learn that their value as a person depends on being perfect. Instagram, Facebook and other social media platforms also increase unhealthy comparisons.(如今,许多家长都有一种竞争意识,他们可能会把这种竞争意识强加给孩子,要么强迫他们取得完美的成绩,这样他们就可以进入顶尖学校,要么让他们参加课外活动,这可能会给他们的大学申请加分。但是,如果一个孩子只因为取得了很高的成就而得到奖励,随着时间的推移,他们会明白,他们作为一个人的价值取决于完美。Instagram、Facebook和其他社交媒体平台也增加了不健康的比较)”可知,父母有竞争意识,并且社交媒体也加剧了不健康的比较,所以现在的父母觉得有必要推动孩子取得更高的成就。故选C。 【27题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段“She eventually learned to trust that she could show up, not being perfect, and still feel valued.(她最终学会了相信,她可以表现得不完美,但仍然感到被重视)”可知,Magee最终学会了相信,即使不完美,也可以展现自己,并且仍然觉得自己有价值。故选B。 C Having trouble falling asleep? It’s common to blame the phone that’s just inches from your face and the constant updates you keep scrolling (滚动) through as you lie in bed. But the idea that the blue light from your smartphone is what’s keeping you awake isn’t quite right. While blue-or short-wavelength light — such as daylight or that emitted (发出) by tech — does affect our body’s internal clock, things are less clear-cut than we often think. “Sleep is a very complex process,” says Stuart Peirson, a professor of circadian neuroscience (昼夜节律神经科学) at Oxford University. He explains that the part of our eyes that tells our brain when it’s time to be awake is triggered (触发) by cells that absorb (吸收) blue light. However, it’s also triggered by cells that absorb longer wavelengths of light (such as red). This means it’s not the color of the light that’s the problem, it’s the brightness and length of time we’re exposed (暴露) to it. The screens of our phones, in fact, are not very bright. Sunlight is 1,000 times brighter than the average light emitted by a phone. Room lighting is, on average, 10 times brighter. This is why turning off the big light as you get ready for bed can help you feel sleepier. “Technically, blue light from smartphones can affect sleep,” says Peirson. “But these effects are small unless you are using your phone for hours with a very bright screen and already have sleep problems.” In studies done at Harvard University, even using an e-reader with the brightness turned up for four hours only caused a small delay in falling asleep — just 10 minutes. In fact, your sleep is more likely to be affected by the kinds of content you’re looking at. If you think light is impacting your sleep, Peirson says you don’t need to spend money on special“blue-light blocking” glasses. Instead, he suggests decreasing your screen time and turning down the brightness on your phone. 28. What is commonly blamed for causing trouble falling asleep? A. The brightness of room lighting. B. The constant updates on smartphones. C. The content on electronic devices. D. The colors of the light from electronic screens. 29. What does Stuart Peirson say about how light affects sleep? A. Red light is the main reason affecting sleep. B. Blue light strongly affects sleep no matter how bright it is. C. Light’s brightness and length of exposure are more important than color in affecting sleep. D. Only blue light affects the part of our eyes that influences sleep. 30. What does Stuart Peirson suggest doing if you believe light is affecting your sleep? A. Buying special “blue-light blocking” glasses. B. Turning off all electronic devices before bed. C. Decreasing screen time and lowering its brightness. D. Avoiding using electronic devices during the day. 31. What is the main idea of the passage? A. The effects of blue light on sleep are made to seem bigger than they are. B. Special glasses are necessary to block blue light. C. Sunlight is the most important reason affecting sleep. D. The color of the light emitted by electronic devices decides sleep quality. B 29. C 30. C 31. 根据第一段中的“It’s common to blame the phone that’s just inches from your face and the constant updates you keep scrolling (滚动) through as you lie in bed. (人们通常把入睡困难归咎于离脸只有几英寸远的手机以及躺在床上不断浏览持续更新的信息。)”可知,智能手机的信息不断更新导致了人们难以入睡。故选B。 【29题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段中的“This means it’s not the color of the light that’s the problem, it’s the brightness and length of time we’re exposed (暴露) to it. The screens of our phones, in fact, are not very bright. (这意味着问题不在于光线的颜色,而在于亮度和我们暴露在光线下的时间。事实上,我们手机的屏幕并不是很亮。)”可推断,Peirson 认为在影响睡眠方面,光的亮度和暴露时间比光的颜色更重要。故选C。 【30题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段“If you think light is impacting your sleep, Peirson says you don’t need to spend money on special ‘blue-light blocking’ glasses. Instead, he suggests decreasing your screen time and turning down the brightness on your phone. A“The effects of blue light on sleep are made to seem bigger than they are.(蓝光对睡眠的影响似乎被夸大了)”最能概括文章的主旨。故选A。 D Lately I have started to go jogging in Yoyogi Park. One of the first things that caught my attention when I started was that everybody runs in a counterclockwise (逆时针方向的) direction in the city where there are no rules that say in which direction to run. Maybe they do it because they try to imitate track & field athletics and almost any other kind of race where the running direction is always counterclockwise, or maybe is there any other reason? I have been asking many people and “researching” online. The best answers I found are from the research of a construction professor at Waseda University in Tokyo. Professor Watanabe Hitoshi devoted many years of his life to research about which is the best way to design stairs and emergency exits. He reached a point in his research where he had to decide if it was better to design stairs that you have to go down clockwise or counterclockwise. Experiments had been carried out previously, and it was known that there is a tendency to turn counterclockwise. But Mr. Watanabe wanted to look into more: ·Most human beings are right-handed. ·Most of the left-handed people are right-footed, while most of the right-handed people are also right-footed. ·Most human beings have a slightly longer right leg than their left leg. These three factors make our right leg become dominant over the left leg, which causes a tendency to turn to the left, and to be able to run faster in a counterclockwise direction. Mr. Watanabe carried out a lot of experiments and observations to reach some conclusions. For example, he found out through an experiment that when people are being chased and trying to escape, they turn to the left unconsciously 70% of the time. 32. What caught the author’s attention when he first started jogging in Yoyogi Park? A. His interest in the physics of running. B. His curiosity about track & field athletics. C. The direction everyone was running. D. The specific running rules in the park. 33. What led Mr. Watanabe to further look into people’s tendency to turn left? A. His doubts about the best running pattern. B. His curiosity about human behavior tendencies. C. His observation of the way people go downstairs. D. His need to determine the ideal direction for stairs. 34. What does the underlined word “dominant” mean in the passage? A. Stronger. B. Opposite. C. Weaker. D. Equal. 35. What is the best title for this passage? A. The Science Behind Running Direction B. Research on Yoyogi Park Jogging C. The Benefits of Running Counterclockwise D. The Right Way to Design Stairs 【答案】32. C 33. D 34. A 35. 根据文章第一段“One of the first things that caught my attention when I started was that everybody runs in a counterclockwise (逆时针方向的) direction in the city where there are no rules that say in which direction to run.(当我刚开始的时候,首先引起我注意的一件事是,在这个没有规定跑步方向的城市里,每个人都逆时针方向跑步)”可知,当作者第一次开始在公园慢跑时,注意到每个人跑步的方向。 根据文章第三段“Professor Watanabe Hitoshi devoted many years of his life to research about which is the best way to design stairs and emergency exits. He reached a point in his research where he had to decide if it was better to design stairs that you have to go down clockwise or counterclockwise.(Watanabe Hitoshi教授投入了多年的时间研究楼梯和紧急出口的最佳设计方法。他在研究中达到了一个阶段,他必须决定是应该设计成顺时针下楼还是逆时针下楼的楼梯更好)”可知,他需要确定楼梯的理想方向这一件事促使他进一步研究人们的运动倾向。故选D。 【34题详解】 词句猜测题。根据划线单词所在句“These three factors make our right leg become dominant over the left leg, which causes a tendency to turn to the left, and to be able to run faster in a counterclockwise direction.(这三个因素使我们的右腿相对于左腿……,从而导致了一种向左转向的趋势,并且能够在逆时针方向上跑得更快)”以及上文内容可知,文章列举了三个因素:大多数人是右撇子,大多数左撇子的人惯用右脚,大多数右撇子的人也同样惯用右脚,以及大多数人的右腿比左腿略长一些。 选项A“stronger(更强)”与此相符。故选A。 根据文章第二段“Maybe they do it because they try to imitate track & field athletics and almost any other kind of race where the running direction is always counterclockwise, or maybe is there any other reason? I have been asking many people and “researching” online. She tossed and turned all night. She was no stranger to competition. In fact, she loved it. Anne was very athletic and her strong will and diligent spirit brought her respect and love. She was not only part of a swim team, but a soccer team, as well. Before she took up swimming, she had been playing soccer. She got along well with her teammates in the soccer team, and they usually encouraged each other before games. Just two days before the swimming competition, she had a regular soccer practice. Her soccer teammates noticed her anxiety and asked her about it. She lowered her head, murmuring. “I’ll take a swimming competition, and this particular competition was important. I had made it all the way to the finals and didn’t want to let my teammates down.” One of her soccer teammates patted her shoulder, “Just be yourself?” When Anne walked away, her soccer teammates looked at her back. They just couldn’t let it go. The morning finally came. Having slept so poorly, Anne was not at all ready for the day. She was terribly anxious about the competition, so much so that she couldn’t even eat breakfast. It felt as though her stomach was doing somersaults (翻腾). Anne’s mother looked concerned. “You have to eat something,” she said. “It’s important to keep your strength up.” “I know, I’m just not hungry this morning,” Anne replied, picking at her eggs with a fork. All she could think about was facing the competition. What if she performed poorly? What if she disappointed her coach and teammates? She wouldn’t be able to forgive herself. “Honey, drink the milk and have some bread. I’ll wait for you in the car. We just have 10 minutes left.” Hearing that, Anne had a quick breakfast, grabbed her gym bag and got into the car. Half an hour later, she got to the athletic club where the swim meet was being held. She went to the locker room to prepare for the competition, but when she opened her gym bag, she was quite surprised. 注意: 1. 续写部分分为两段,每段的开头语已为你写好; 2. 所续写短文的词数应为150 词左右; Paragraph 1: She didn’t expect to find a handwritten note from her soccer teammates. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: She saw her soccer uniform and realized she had grabbed the wrong bag. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】She didn’t expect to find a handwritten note from her soccer teammates. Anne lost herself in this uplifting memory before she came back to reality with the gym bag in her hand. She saw her soccer uniform and realized she had grabbed the wrong bag. “Without a swimsuit, I won’t be allowed to enter the pool!” A dizziness overpowered her, and she hardly had the strength to stand firm. “Anne, here’s your bag!” It was her mother who arrived just in time. Never had Anne felt so lucky to be blessed with care, encouragement and faith. She couldn’t wait to fulfill her dream. Without hesitation, she headed for the swimming pool with a confident smile, anticipating the championship. 3. 词汇激活 行为类 ①使失望:let sb. down/ disappoint ②到达:get to/ reach ③表现:perform/ display 情绪类 ①担心的:concerned/ worried ②焦虑,紧张的:anxious/ nervous/ tight 【点睛】[高分句型1] This inspiring note reminded her of the determination and confidence she displayed last year when the soccer team in the finals. A lie in bed counting stars B. cook food for your family C. have fun fishing with your friends D. enjoy the sight of ancient oak trees 23. Where is the text probably taken from? A. A research paper. B. A travel brochure. C. A novel. D. A fashion magazine. B Hailey Magee rushed home from school crying after seeing that she’d received an A-minus on her grade report card. C Having trouble falling asleep? A Buying special “blue-light blocking” glasses. D Lately I have started to go jogging in Yoyogi Park. B His curiosity about human behavior tendencies. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
