Scientists now understand that a fire can be a natural part of a healthy forest. As a result, countries like Australia allow more fires to burn naturally. Sometimes, fire fighters even start fires to get rid of(去除)dead wood. Of course, they carefully control the fires. The fire thins out old trees. This allows sunlight to reach the ground. As a result, fires help new trees to grow. Therefore, if a fire is not a serious threat(威胁)to people, firefighters may let it burn naturally.
问题:What is the main idea of paragraph 4?

Have you ever seen bottle gourd pyrography (葫芦烙画)? It is the art of burning pictures on the surface of the gourds. The skill known as pyrography dates back more than 2,200 years ago to the Qin Dynasty (朝代), but it was not until the end of the Ming Dynasty that the art was first shown on gourds.
The bottle gourd has long been considered to bring good luck. Its shape made it a perfect tool in the past. In ancient times, many doctors used it to hold medicine and hung it at the front of their clinics (诊所).

Finally, they usually take advantage of the natural shape of the gourd, burning the pictures with an electric cautery pen (电烙笔). This is the most difficult step. If there is any mistake in this step, all the work will go back to the beginning.

二、阅读理解
I used to watch him from my kitchen window. He seemed so small as he played through some tall boys on the playground. The school was across the street from my home and I would often watch the kids as they played during breaks.
I remember the first day when I saw him playing basketball. He ran circles around the other kids. He managed to shoot jump shots from their heads and into the basket. The big boys always tried to stop him but no one could.
One day, I met him and asked him why he practiced so much. Without a moment of hesitation (犹豫) he said, “I want to go to college. The only way I can go is to get a scholarship (奖学金). I am going to play college basketball. I want to be the best. My daddy told me if the dream is big enough, the facts don’t count.”
I watched him through junior high school and into senior high school. Every week, he led his school team to victory.
One day in the senior year, I saw him sitting in the grass with head in his arms. I walked across the street and sat down in the cool grass beside him. Quietly I asked what was wrong. “Oh, nothing,” came a soft reply, “I am just too short.” The coach told him that he would probably never get to play for a top team—much less offered a scholarship. So he should stop dreaming about college. He was heartbroken and I felt his disappointment. I asked him if he had talked to his dad about it yet. He told me that his father said those coaches were wrong. They just did not understand the power of a dream. He told him that if he truly wanted a scholarship and that nothing could stop him except one thing — his own attitude (态度).
He told him again, “If the dream is big enough, the facts don’t count.” The next year, as he and his team went to the Northern California Championship game, he was offered a scholarship. Finally, he was going to get the college education that he had dreamed of.

18.What did his father mean by saying “If the dream is big enough, the facts don’t count.”?

19.What can we know from the passage?

Thailand’s Water Festival marks the beginning of its New Year. It is one of the largest water celebrations in the world. More than one million visitors take part in this festival every year. People play happily with elephants in the water.
In India, the tradition of celebrating water came from the following story. A wise man asked a clever boy when the honour of men would appear. (二)(2024·山东德州·中考真题)
Often people will do things to anger you. When this happens, it’s not good to react immediately, but after you’ve calmed down, look at the positive (积极的) qualities in that person.
I’m not asking you to be a doormat (受气包) or simply look at the positive qualities when someone is being unkind to you. Instead, I’m suggesting that you take a look at the positive qualities in addition to everything else. Here’s an example: Let’s say you’re taking your son or daughter to a basketball game. You’ re in the line and the guy behind you, who is also with his child, starts pushing. You ask him to back off and he gets angry, and perhaps starts shouting. All of this is taking place in front of your child and his child.
Finally things calm down. Perhaps you’ re still angry and silently cursing (咒骂) him as you sit in your chair. But can you see anything positive in that person? Most people would say no. But at least he was trying to spend some time with his kid just like you did. You don’t know anything else about the person, but you just find some positıve qualities.
Too often we focus only on a person’s negative (消极的) qualities and forget the good things. By looking at the positive, you get your mind to move its attention. It now begins to see things differently and thus (所以) sends a different message and different energy to your sense. This will bring positive situations to you. It’s that old saying:” What goes around comes around. “ You focus on the good things in other people, and other people will see the good things in you and you’ ll attract positive situations in your life. For example: 4. .
When you do this you also let out the anger and unhappiness, thus creating more positive energy. Try doing thus with people you know and don’t know. Creating positive energy is important to your success and happiness. Let’s face it. You certainly don’t want negative energy or a negative lifestyle.
6.What should you do when a person anger you according to the passage?
7.In the writer’s opinion, what is the positive quality of the guy?

Have you ever seen bottle gourd pyrography (葫芦烙画)? It is the art of burning pictures on the surface of the gourds. The skill known as pyrography dates back more than 2,200 years ago to the Qin Dynasty (朝代), but it was not until the end of the Ming Dynasty that the art was first shown on gourds.
The bottle gourd has long been considered to bring good luck. Its shape made it a perfect tool in the past. In ancient times, many doctors used it to hold medicine and hung it at the front of their clinics (诊所).
Skilled artists can turn common gourds into art-works. The first step is to pick a golden gourd. Then the artist has to draw a creative picture on the gourds. Finally, they usually take advantage of the natural shape of the gourd, burning the pictures with an electric cautery pen (电烙笔). This is the most difficult step. If there is any mistake in this step, all the work will go back to the beginning.
Zheng Xiaoliang from Anhui has been working on gourd art for more than 40 years. “The gourd pyrography may seem simple, but it is more difficult to use a pyrography brush to create a wonderful picture than a writing brush and it requires skills in painting.” Zheng said. If you want to learn this kind of art, you need to…

Did you watch the movie Changjin Lake (《长津湖》)? It’s about how the new China helped North Korea to push back the American soldiers (士兵). It is not only the movie itself that makes people touched, but the heroes of the war who fought for our country and the people.
Let’s take a close look at the real-life history behind the movie. Changjin Lake is in North Korea. The Battle (战役) of Changjin Lake was in a very cold winter with temperatures of around -40℃. In the 1950s, our Chinese soldiers had to face life-and-death problems when they got on the train to enter the DPRK. A US enemy plane bombed (轰炸) the trains, and the soldiers had to quickly moved into the mountains and forests to hide. I still deeply remember a picture in the movie. In order not to expose the target (暴露目标), they stayed in the ice and snow without any moving. Although the follow-up troops (后续部队) killed the enemy and won the battle, unluckily, 125 soldiers were frozen (冻) to death. This is a movie about war and people. Many can’t help crying after watching this movie, because our Chinese soldiers used their lives to guard the country and the people.
It is the loveliest persons who guarded China’s great river and mountains. However, many of them never have the chance to see the beautiful mountains and rivers again. The movie Changjin Lake wants to tell young people today: though we live in an age without war, we should never forget the true heroes in the history and we need to pass on their great spirit!

11.What’s the movie Changjin Lake about?
12.Where is Changjin Lake?
13.When did the Battle of Changjin Lake take place?
14.Why do many people cry after watching this movie?

A.Nothing could stop his son from achieving his dream.

19.What can we know from the passage?
A.The father always encouraged the boy.

When you do this you also let out the anger and unhappiness, thus creating more positive energy. Try doing thus with people you know and don’t know. Creating positive energy is important to your success and happiness. Let’s face it. You certainly don’t want negative energy or a negative lifestyle.

7.In the writer’s opinion, what is the positive quality of the guy?
