阅读理解A(月壤砖)
We use bricks (砖) to make houses on Earth, but what about building things on the moon? Well, you use “lunar bricks”, of course!
Scientists at the Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) have developed “lunar bricks”. They hope to use the bricks to build a base (基地) on the moon.
To make the bricks, the scientists used a lunar soil simulant (模拟月壤). The bricks are three times stronger than normal concrete (混凝土) bricks or red bricks. They also have mortise and tenon joint structures (榫卯结构), which were used in ancient Chinese buildings. This makes it possible to simply put these bricks together, just like Lego(儿童积木玩具).
Professor Zhou Cheng from HUST told Xinhua that they had tested five different kinds of simulated (模拟的) lunar soil and used three ways to harden them. This helped them choose the best materials for making the bricks. Lunar soil isn’t the same everywhere on the moon, Zhou added. For example, one of the kinds tested simulates the lunar soil at the landing site of Chang’e 5, which is mainly basalt (玄武岩).
The lunar bricks need to be tested well before being used because the moon has an extreme (极端的) environment. Quakes (月震) often happen there, and cosmic radiation (宇宙辐射) is high. It gets as hot as 180 C during the day and as cold as -190 C at night.
The lunar bricks will be sent to China’s space station on the Tianzhou 8 spacecraft. There, scientists will check how well the bricks do in space.
The first brick is expected to return to Earth by the end of 2025. China hopes to build a lunar research station between 2028 and 2035.
1. The lunar bricks are developed to _____.
A. study the lunar soil B. build a base on the moon
C. test the weather on the moon D. create stronger building materials on Earth
2. How do the mortise and tenon joint structures help with lunar bricks?
A. They make the bricks lighter. B. They make the bricks look good.
C. They help save lunar soil simulant. D. They make the building process easier.
3. Why was it necessary for the researchers to test different kinds of lunar soil simulant?
A. They wanted to find the best basalt for the bricks.
B. They wanted to find materials.
C. The soil on the moon changes from place to place.
D. The simulant is different from real lunar soil.
4. What is Paragraph 5 mainly about?
A. Why lunar bricks need to be tested. B. How the lunar bricks were made.
C. What the weather is like on the moon. D. How the lunar bricks were tested.
5. What can we learn about the lunar bricks from the passage?
A. Scientists are still unhappy with the bricks.
B. A base built by lunar bricks was made on Earth.
C. They will be tested in China’s space station.
D. They will soon be used to build a lunar research station.

As technology becomes a part of our classrooms, students are using more digital devices to learn. But is this really the best way to learn? Some people from older generations think that using paper notebooks and journals is better and that kids today are missing out on important learning experiences.
My daughter, born in 2003, didn't use many screens until she started secondary school. Her school started working with Apple, and she got an iPad for school. She used iTunes U and other apps for her lessons, but I didn't like it. There were always password problems, and the lessons on the iPad were not as interesting as her paper books from elementary school, which were full of drawings and teacher comments.
Seven years later, my son got a laptop on his first day of secondary school, and I was worried. But soon, the school said they were taking back the laptops and only using them for certain classes. It seemed the school had thought about how to use technology in the classroom and decided that using pens and paper was better.
Research shows that paper notebooks are better than digital ones. Many studies have found that college students who write notes by hand learn better than those who type. Writing by hand helps with understanding and remembering because it encourages students to rewrite and summarize what they hear.
Japanese brain experts have also found that writing in a notebook gets many parts of the brain working, which helps with focus. Writing in a notebook can also make you feel good because it turns blank pages into something special and personal. Digital notes don't have the same feel.
For a long time, notebooks were very important in education. A way of taking notes called "commonplacing" changed how people learned. Even famous people like William Shakespeare and Isaac Newton used it. They filled their notebooks with great quotes from the things they read.
But in today's world, where we can find information so easily on the internet, some people think that writing by hand is old-fashioned. However, using a pen and paper is still important, especially in school. Students should write more by hand and type less.
1. How did the author feel about the iPad program at his daughter’s school?
A. Excited. B. Dissatisfied. C. Unconcerned. D. Confused.
2. According to the article, what is one advantage of taking notes by hand?
A. It saves time. B. It requires less effort.
C. It promotes deeper understanding. D. It is more convenient than using computers.
3. Why does the author mention William Shakespeare and Isaac Newton in the text?
A. To suggest that they were great learners.
B. To prove that famous people preferred handwriting.
C. To show commonplacing is the best learning method.
D. To stress the widespread use of commonplacing at the time.
4.What's the right structure of the passage?
A B C D
5. What is the main message the author express in the text?
A. Schools should stop digital tools.
B. Technology is revolutionizing education.
C. Handwriting remains important for learning.
D. Commonplacing is a valuable study technique.
【答案】BCDCC
【解析】文章探讨数字设备与纸质笔记在学习中的优劣,强调手写笔记重要性。
1.细节理解题。在文章第二段提到 “My daughter, born in 2003, didn't use many screens until she started secondary school. Her school started working with Apple, and she got an iPad for school. She used iTunes U and other apps for her lessons, but I didn't like it.”(我的女儿,2003 年出生,在她上中学之前很少使用电子屏幕。她的学校开始与苹果公司合作,她得到了一个用于学校的 iPad。她使用 iTunes U 和其他应用程序上课,但我不喜欢这样。),从 “but I didn't like it” 可以看出作者对女儿学校的 iPad 项目是不满意的,所以答案是 B.
2.细节理解题。文章第四段提到 “Writing by hand helps with understanding and remembering because it encourages students to rewrite and summarize what they hear.”(手写有助于理解和记忆,因为它鼓励学生重写和总结他们所听到的内容。),这表明手写笔记的一个优点是有助于加深理解,所以答案是 C.
3.推理判断题。文章第六段提到 “A way of taking notes called 'commonplacing' changed how people learned. Even famous people like William Shakespeare and Isaac Newton used it.”(一种叫做 “commonplacing” 的记笔记方式改变了人们的学习方式。
文章整体在论述手写笔记的好处,如有助于理解、记忆、让大脑多个部分工作等,最后还提到 “However, using a pen and paper is still important, especially in school. Students should write more by hand and type less.”(然而,使用笔和纸仍然很重要,特别是在学校。学生应该多手写,少打字。),所以文章主要传达的信息是手写对学习仍然很重要,答案是 C.

Say hello to future you!
Imagine being able to talk to your future self and get to know what your life might be like years from now. A new online chat platform (平台) called Future You has made this possible.
Future You was created by scientists from different research institutes (机构), including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the US. Powered by AI, the program begins by asking users questions about their personalities, current lives and future plans. It then uses this information as “memories” to create a simulation (模拟) of the user at the age of 60. This allows users to ask questions and get advice for the future from “themselves”.
The platform can also produce a photo for each user, showing how they might look at age 60. “The system makes the simulation very realistic (逼真的). Future You is much more detailed than what a person could come up with by just imagining their future selves,” said Pattie Maes, a MIT scientist who worked on the program.
According to the platform’s official website, Future You is designed to “help users develop more long-term thinking” by improving their “future self-continuity” (未来自我连续性). This term describes how connected a person feels to his or her future self. The stronger the connection, the more likely a person is to make decisions that benefit their long-term well-being, in areas such as money, education, or health.
The scientists tested Future You on 344 volunteers. Those who interacted with Future You for 10 to 30 minutes felt less anxious (焦虑的) and more motivated (有动力的) about the uncertain nature of the future compared to those who chatted with a general AI or only filled out surveys.
However, Future You has its limits. “It is not clear whether people have done anything different [or] changed their behavior (行为) as a result of interacting with their future self,” Ivo Vlaev from the UK’s University of Warwick told Euronews. In addition, the AI program can only offer a look into one possible future, rather than make various predictions. At the end of the day, “it’s all a big pretend”, noted an article in Forbes. We shouldn’t take Future You’s words as completely true.
1. What do paragraphs 2 and 3 mainly talk about?
A. The role MIT played in Future You.
B. The AI technology used in Future You.
C. The creation and features of Future You.
D. The development background of Future You.
2. What is the main purpose of Future You, according to the official website?
A. To predict future events. B. To reduce users’ stresses in life.
C. To help users plan for a better future. D. To connect users with others.
3. How did the volunteers feel after interacting with Future You?
A. More realistic about their limitations.
B. Less satisfied with their current lives.
C. More confident in their past decisions.
D. Less worried and more driven about the future.
4. What is a limitation of Future You mentioned in the text?
A. It can only show one possible future.
B. It may lead to dependency on AI.
C. It gives overly optimistic predictions.
D. It only works for a specific age group.

With China’s ecological (生态的) environment improving, there have been more wild boars across the country, thus causing more human-wildlife conflicts (冲突).
On Nov 24,2024, a wild boar(野猪) broke into a house, attacked and killed an elderly person in Shaanxi province. Also, on Oct 27, a worker checking the damage of a train hit by a wild boar was killed by another train.
Sun Quanhui, a scientist with the World Animal Protection Association, said that although wild boars rarely attack unless they feel threatened, adult males are strong and can be dangerous.
According to the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, a total of 2 million wild boars live in 28 provincial-level regions in China and accidents or attacks involving boars have been reported in 26 of them.
Xie Yi, a professor at Beijing Forestry University, said that due to their strong ability to adapt to the environment and have babies, wild boars’ population grows faster than their natural enemies like wolves. This has led to an expansion (扩大) in their areas of activity. Also, wild boars often come down from the hills to search for food in spring and autumn, which is why people have been seeing them more often lately.
“They are not picky (挑剔的) eaters and will eat anything edible (可食用的),” said Sun. Wild boars are thus an important part of the ecosystem and biodiversity (生物多样性). Sun also stressed that without natural enemies, “the only way to control the wild boar population and bring it to a reasonable level is by hunting”.
In June last year, wild boars were taken off of the protected wildlife list, allowing them to be hunted without a license. Several provinces and regions like Shaanxi and the Ningxia Hui autonomous region have hired hunters to control their populations.
However, Sun noted that hunting is only a short-term solution. Long-term control requires bringing back enemies of boars and making habitats bigger to reduce problems between humans and wildlife. In February, a plan was risen by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration to prevent and control damage caused by wildlife, including wild boars. It plans to set up legal measures and improve the compensation (赔偿) and assistance system (援助制度) by next year.
1. What problem is caused by the increase in wild boar populations?
A. Conflicts with humans. B. Environmental damage.
C. Threats to other animals. D. Overuse of farmland.
2. According to Xie Yi, why has the range of wild boar activity expanded?
A. They are well-protected by the law.
B. Their food sources are running out.
C. They are picky and require more habitats for food.
D. Their population is growing faster than natural enemies.
3. What is Sun’s opinion about hunting wild boars?
A. It’s impractical in the long run. B. It’s beneficial to local communities.
C. It requires legal protection. D. It is the most cost-effective solution.
4. What is a long-term solution for controlling wild boar populations?
A. Relocating boars to different areas.
B. Increasing the number of hunters.
C. Providing food sources for boars every so often.
D. Reintroducing their natural enemies and enlarging habitats.

You must have heard of “city bu city” (meaning city or not city), an internet buzzword (流行语) created by foreign blogger Baobaoxiong. It’s used to ask if a place feels like a big, fashionable city.
Millions of foreigners like Baobaoxiong are visiting China and posting their travel videos. The visa-free transit policy (过境免签政策) plays an important role in this trend. Travelers from 54 countries can stay in China for up to six days without a visa as long as they have a travel document and a connecting ticket (联运机票) to leave.
The visa-free transit policy started in 2013. Back then, it allowed travelers to stay for 72 hours in seven different big cities in China. Now, travelers can stay for 144 hours in 41 places across 19 provincial areas. It has attracted more travelers to China. In the first three months of this year, 266 percent more foreigners came to China through visa-free policies compared with the same period last year, according to the National Immigration Administration of China (国家移民管理局).
Seeing is believing. Through this policy, more and more people get to see the real China.
“This is the whole reason why we decided to come to China – we wanted to see exactly what it’s like for ourselves,” said Irish YouTuber Luke in his online video. He thought Chengdu was “incredibly good, beautiful and modern”, totally different from what he had heard about China from Western media.
Yuyuantantian, a new media account under China Media Group, looked at 100 China travel videos made by foreigners. It found foreigners used to visit famous spots like the Forbidden City and the Great Wall. But now they prefer experiencing everyday activities like shopping at markets , riding shared bikes and joining square dancing in parks. These activities give foreigners a closer look at everyday life in China, said Yuyuantantian.
1. Foreigners who travel through the 144-hour visa-free transit policy need to _____.
A. travel in a group B. stay at least 144 hours in China
C. travel in seven big cities in China D. have a connecting ticket to leave within six days
2. What makes the 2024 visa-free policy better than the 2013 policy?

C. More activities and lower cost.
D. More traveling places and lower cost.
3. Why did Luke decide to travel to China?
A. To show the world the real China. B. To shoot videos about China.
C. To find the best city in China. D. To see what China is really like.
4. According to Yuyuantantian, how does the change in foreigners’ travel choices help?
A. It uncovers Western media’s false reports.
B. It supports the development of rural areas.
C. It helps the world understand the real China.
D. It reduces the pressure on famous tourist spots.
5.What does the article talk about?
A. The introduction of the internet buzzword "city bu city" and its popularity.
B. The experiences of Irish YouTuber Luke during his trip to China.
C. The development of the visa-free transit policy in China and how it helps foreigners see the real China.
D. The comparison between famous tourist spots and everyday activities in China that foreigners like.

A. Longer stay and more traveling places.
B. Longer stay and lower cost.
