(1)转折让步关系:but、yet、however、although、instead、though、while、whereas despite等。
(2)并列递进关系:and、or、also、besides、even 、similarly、in the same way、meanwhile、furthermore、moreover等。
(3)因果关系:therefore、thus、as a result、 for this reason 、of course等。
(4)解析、举例关系:for example、for instance、that is to say、in other words、that means等。

Many animal lovers want to do more to help animals, but they aren’t sure where to start. 1

Be more loving.
If you want to keep a dog or a cat, it’s better to get one from a homeless-animal house. 4 By taking an animal back home from there, you’ll help animals in need as well as giving your money to those who look after poor animals.

3 Even professional (专业的) people get hurt sometimes. Manatees may look slow, but there is a lot of energy hiding within their thick fur.

Learning methods (方法) are really important for everyday learning or studying for tests. 76

Explaining (解释) to others is win-win. 2 Sometimes you may find it easier to learn something when you explain it to others. This is because in order to explain something clearly to someone else, you first need to understand it well and then to use the right words to explain it.
3 This method means that experiencing things in real life is better than reading things in books. Doing things by yourselves makes your brain more active. So you will remember and learn more easily.
Taking tests is also helpful. Some people enjoy taking tests because they think that can give them a strong will to be successful. If you’re the kind of person, you can try asking your teachers, parents or classmates to set an exam. 80

Typhoons are some of the worst storms, usually around the Pacific Ocean and the South China Sea. Most happen in July, August and September.
1 When lots of sea water gets hot in the summer sun, it evaporates (蒸发) into the air. This makes the air hotter. When the air gets warm enough, it starts to move higher up into the sky. Then cooler air around it rushes in. It fills the space that is left. After the air gets warmer, it starts to move quickly, making wind. The wind goes in circles (圆圈) and it keeps moving higher in the sky. 2 And when the wind moves faster than 30 metres a second, a typhoon begins.
A typhoon has two parts. One is called the “eye”. In the eye, the wind does not move so fast. 3 This is where the strongest winds and hardest rain are.
4 In November 2013, Typhoon Haiyan killed around 6, 000 people in Philippines. More people were badly hurt and some others were missing. 120

(1)转折让步关系:but、yet、however、although、instead、though、while、whereas despite等。
(2)并列递进关系:and、or、also、besides、even 、similarly、in the same way、meanwhile、furthermore、moreover等。
(3)因果关系:therefore、thus、as a result、 for this reason 、of course等。
(4)解析、举例关系:for example、for instance、that is to say、in other words、that means等。

People often think doing nothing is quite easy, but sometimes it can be very hard. Many of us want to help wild animals when they seem to be in trouble. 1 In fact, the best thing to do is leave the animals alone. Wild animals are stronger than we think. This protects both you and the animal.
