But the clerk said that it was only useful for the book I bought at the bookstore and wouldn’t work for the book I’d ordered. This meant that I’d have one $10 off card left. “The offer is useful until the end of the week,” the clerk smiled. And then I turned around to the lady who was waiting patiently behind me and gave the $10 off card to her. She was very surprised and thanked me so much.
根据“They both like to study.”
11.The baby is sleeping, so I walk as as possible. (quiet)

(1)倍数+as many/much+名词+as
例:There is four times as much water in this pot as in that one.

This rope is twice longer than that one.
(5)倍数+the size/height/length/width +of:这种结构也用于表示“A正好是B的多少倍”,但更侧重于具体的度量标准,如大小、高度、长度等。

A.as twice many B.many as twice C.twice as many D.twice many as

A.larger than B.as largest as C.as larger as D.large than
【答案】A

4.Mike’s room is ________ than mine.
A.three time big B.three times big C.three times bigger
5.Computers of today can work than the ones in the 1970s.
A.hundred of times faster B.a hundred time faster

An adult elephant many times than a baby elephant.

12.A human cell is ten times (tiny) than the width of your hair.

I went to buy some books at the bookstore last weekend. I found the book I wanted, but I couldn’t find the one my sister talked with me the other day. When I went to pay for it, I asked the clerk if I could order that book.
A lady was waiting in line behind me at that moment. The clerk said I could order the book. but it took time. So she asked if I could let the lady behind me pay for her things first. The lady said it didn’t matter and she didn’t mind waiting there.
It took nearly 15 minutes to put my order through! The lady behind me kept talking and laughing happily with us. Finally, when it was time for me to pay, I gave two S10 off cards. I think what I have done is a thankful action for the person who left a smile in my heart. Although it is just a small thing, it makes me feel warm, especially from a stranger.

首先,根据第二段“The lady said it didn’t matter and she didn’t mind waiting there. It took nearly 15 minutes to put my order through! The lady behind me kept talking and laughing happily with us.”可知,作者订购书花费时间,在此期间作者和后面的女士愉快聊天,这是事件的开始,即d;然后,第三段“Finally, when it was time for me to pay…”可知,接着轮到作者付款了,即c;之后,“I gave two S10 off cards. But the clerk said that it was only useful for the book I bought at the bookstore and wouldn’t work for the book I’d ordered.”表明店员说优惠卡对订购的书无效,即b;最后,“And then I turned around to the lady who was waiting patiently behind me and gave the $10 off card to her.”

It’s the modern way of life.In reality (现实), we can hardly say no to multitasking. In everyday life, most of us use a computer, a phone or an iPad when we’re studying or working or hanging out with family and friends. Besides, some studies have shown that multitasking helps create good feelings about ourselves. When we feel good, our performance gets better and we feel more confident. Being able to multitask is also a great skill in life. Everybody likes to get a lot of things done and be efficient Rather than running away from multitasking, it’s better to learn how to juggle things well. Who doesn’t want to do more in less time?
It’s hard on our brainsJust because we think we’re saving time doesn’t mean we are. Studies have shown that multitasking breaks our attention (注意力), slows us down, leading to more mistakes, which then takes more time to work things out. That’s because when we multitask, we’re not actually doing many tasks (任务) at the same time—our brains jump between work. This way, our brains get tired more easily, and then we may not be able to successfully finish even one task at all. However, if we put our brain on just one task at a time, we do a better job and feel better.
