四、教学过程
(I) Leading In (2 minutes)
1. Show some exquisite pictures of paper-cut works to arouse students' interest.
Question: " What can you see in these pictures?"Lead the students to answer:" Paper-cuts."
Again, " What do you know about paper-cutting?"Let the students speak freely and share their understanding of paper-cutting.
2. The topic of this lesson is: "Today, we are going to learn about the art of paper-cutting."
(II) Pre-reading activity (5 minutes)
1. Let the students read the two questions before the text:
What do you know about Chinese paper-cutting?
Would you like to try paper-cutting?Why or why not?
2. Organize students to have group discussions and encourage them to exchange their ideas.
3. Invite several group representatives to share the results of their discussions.
(III) Quick reading (8 minutes)
1. Ask students to quickly browse the text, and complete the matching exercises in part A.
Give a time limit, let the students to complete the task within the specified time.
Check the answers and guide the students to understand the main content of each paragraph.
(IV) Read carefully (15 minutes)
1. Let the students read the text carefully again and complete the multiple-choice questions in part B.
After students complete the questions independently, the deskmate check the answers with each other.
The teacher explains the topic, focuses on the analysis of the topic with many mistakes, to help students understand the details and key information in the text.
2. Guide the students to pay attention to the description of the paper-cutting art in the text, such as the tools, shapes and uses of the paper-cutting, etc.
Question: " What tools does Zhao Yue use for paper-cutting?” “What shapes are her paper-cuts?” “Why do we put up paper-cuts at the Spring Festival?"And other questions, let the students find out the answer from the text.
(V) Language point explanation (8 minutes)
1. Explain the key words and phrases in the text, such as: scissors (pay attention to the plural form), express, landscape, put up, etc.
Help students understand the usage of these words and phrases through example sentences and scenarios.
Let the students use these words and phrases to deepen their understanding.

(VI) Expansion activities (4 minutes)

Check the answers and explain the difficulties.

What kind of paper-cut is your favourite, paper-cuts of animals and plants, or the ones with Chinese characters?Why?
Some young people like paper-cutting. Why do you think it is popular with young people?
Encourage students to speak actively and share their views.
(VII) Summary (3 minutes)
1. Review the content learned in this lesson together with the students, including the relevant knowledge of paper-cutting art, key vocabulary and phrases, reading skills, etc.
