一、阅读理解
A
As for long-distance travel, there are some wonderful destinations that actually offer you great value for your money, especially for those who do not hope to empty their pockets after a holiday.
Tokyo Japan
Food lovers should go to this busy city which has the lowest cost of eating out — you can even buy two evening meals (three dishes for each), with a bottle of wine, for just under £34. For sightseeing there are plenty of free museums and attractions, while tour bus ticket prices start from as little as £11.56.
Bangkok, Thailand
Thailand’s capital is second to none as the best value long-distance city. Although there isn’t a big difference in all prices compared to the other cities, it is accommodation that really makes it stand out. If you’re only stopping for a long weekend, then be sure to pay a visit to the breathtaking temples.
Beijing, China
The Chinese capital stands out with the total price of £337.49. If you only have one cultural day out during your stay, make it a trip to the Forbidden City. There are some beautiful buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties. At the same time they’re home to priceless artificial objects from ancient Chinese emperors’ families.
Dubai, UAE
Although Dubai does have a reputation for being quite the splurge (挥霍) when it comes to holidays and if you’re going to enjoy shopping or experience the roller-coasters, it is in fact quite worth the money. The city also offers some cheaper prices across its museums, galleries and attractions as well as airport transfers.
21. What can you enjoy in Tokyo, Japan?
A. Free bus rides.
B Eating out cheap.
C. Visiting galleries free.
D. Priceless man-made objects.
22. Which one tops the list of the best value long-distance cities?
A. Tokyo. B. Bangkok.
C. Beijing. D. Dubai.
23. What is people’s common idea about Dubai?
A. Dubai is not a good place for shopping.
B. Historical buildings spread everywhere in Dubai.
C. Being on vacation in Dubai costs tons of money.
D. The roller-coasters there are the best in the world.
B
Travelling alone can be frightening. I have travelled by myself many times but there was always someone to meet me at the other end of the train or plane journey. This time was different. Last week I had a holiday from work, but none of my friends had the same week off. But I still booked a train ride to Toronto and a bed in a hostel (招待所) for one week.
One week by myself! Would I be lonely? Quite the opposite! In fact, there were many benefits. Firstly, I was able to do whatever I wanted. I spent hours in museums that would have seemed boring to some of my friends. I walked all around the city, which some people may have found too tiring. Secondly, I discovered my independence and developed map-reading skills. Finally, being in the safe environment of a hostel with travellers also gave a great chance to meet new people from all over the world.
However, there were some disadvantages of travelling alone. I missed having someone to talk to.Eating in a restaurant or cooking in the hostel was less fun on my own. Besides, without a travel partner, I won’t be able to laugh about and remember my Toronto adventure with friends in years to come.
I am very proud of myself for travelling alone and I had a fantastic time in Toronto. However, in the future, I think I will always prefer to travel with another person or in a small group. Though, maybe it depends on whom I travel with — I would rather be by myself than with someone who is lazy and difficult!
24. Why did the author travel alone in Toronto?
A. Because she was asked to do so.
B. Because she had no friends to go with her.
C. Because she wanted to know something different.
D. Because she didn’t like to travel with someone else.
25 What does the author tell us in paragraph 2?
A. The costs of travelling alone.
B. The danger of travelling alone.
C. The advantages of travelling alone.
D. The tiredness of travelling alone.
26. What can we learn about the author from paragraph 3?
A. She missed her family very much.
B. She didn’t need to cook by herself.
C. She couldn’t do whatever she wanted.
D. She had nobody to share the experience with.
27. What can we infer from the last paragraph?
A. The author is afraid of travelling alone.
B. The author enjoys travelling with her family.
C. The author prefers to travel with proper partners.
D. The author is interested in travelling in a large group.
C
Whether you are a teenager or a young adult, high school education will give you space and chance you need to meet with like-minded people. The following tips will offer you some help.
In high school, you'll meet lots more students than you did in middle school. Also, most high school tasks will require you to give a speech in front of many people. These speeches will require you to have special communication skills. You can improve your social skills by meeting new people, and spending more time with your family and friends.
Every school provides a list of things that students should buy before reporting. You should buy them early enough before the price of the supplies increase. One of the things that you should include on your list is a backpack. Besides the backpack, you may also buy your school clothing and the other items you will need to make your high school life comfortable. Lastly, you can buy the right stationery (文具), including books and pens.
It's common to sleep late and wake late during the holiday because you don't have any commitments (承诺) or responsibilities. Maybe, you have taken up this now habit during the holidays. Unlike middle schools, high school learning rules demand punctuality. The classes start early, even for online schools. Therefore, you can begin practicing sleeping early and waking up early at least two months before you report to school.
High schools have a more complicated (复杂的) learning schedule when compared to middle schools. From waking up to reading, there are stricter programs and timetables. The best way to understand the schedule is to attend an orientation (迎新会) event. It will make you learn of the school's rules, and the things you will be expected to do upon joining.
28. Which of the following is a recommended way of improving social skills?
A. Studying harder. B. Making new friends.
C. Asking your family for help. D. Spending more time at school.

30. What does the underlined word ″punctuality″ mean in paragraph 4?
A. Being on time. B. Being very polite. C. Showing confidence. D. Showing more kindness.
31. Why should students take part in an orientation event?
A. To win more friendship at school. B. To make the school's life colorful.
C. To form a better learning method later. D. To learn about the school's learning schedule.

Travel is predicted to look extremely different in 2070.
Take airports for example, paperwork will be a thing of the past. Instead of paper passports, your information will be stored in the cloud. This type of technology won’t just include what we are familiar with today——like fingerprints or face scans—but also your heartbeat, as everyone’s heartbeat is unique.
There will be no need to check in. The facial recognition programme will instead be able to recognise you, match you with your booked flight and send messages to your phone as you walk through the airport without stopping.
Your bags, especially the heavy ones, will be sent directly from your train or taxi to the right plane. And that taxi will not be like the ones we know today. People will be expected to travel to the airport--and around their holiday destinations-in eVTOLs, which refers to électric air taxis that can take off and land without a runway.
As for the trouble of packing, 3D printers will provide perfect solutions. Simply provide your destination with your size using a body scan before you fly and, upon arrival, you will find a wardrobe(衣橱) filled with 3D-printed clothes. When you leave, these clothes will be recycled and. reprinted for the next tourist. Not only will this solve the problem of packing, but also make holiday fashion more environment-friendly.
While the predictions might seem unbelievable now, you only have to look back 50 years to realize it’s all possible. Think back to 1973 when smartphones were just a wild dream. “Google” seemed like a made-up word then, and notebook computers were still almost years away from being invented. Similarly, when we look forward to the next 50 years, the possibilities for development in technology for travel are endless.
32. What can we learn about the check-in at the airport in 2070?
A. You’ll have to carry your paper passports.
B. It won’t need your heartbeat information.
C. You must stop to check the phone for boarding.
D. It is no longer needed because of the facial recognition programme.
33. When you get to the destination, .
A. your bag will be sent to you by taxi
B. a body scan will work out your size
C. the clothes of your size will be ready for you
D. your packing may do harm to the environment
34. Why does the author mention 1973 in the last paragraph?
A. To prove the predictions are possible.
B To show the inventions are necessary.
C. To list the achievements of the year.
D. To express the confidence for travel.
35. What’s the best title for the text?
A. A new type of air taxi.。 B. Prediction for future of travel.
C. The advantage of 3D prints. D. The solution to future packing.

Honesty Won’t Let You Down
Asad was a 13-year-old boy who was very honest and hardworking. Recently, he had entered a new school so he had no friends yet. On Monday morning, he was nearly late for school. The night before, his family attended his cousin’s wedding and reached home late, which was why he couldn’t get up on time as usual.
At school, Asad could not pay attention to anything and wanted the bell to ring so that he could buy something to eat. After a few hours, when the bell rang, Asad quickly opened his schoolbag to find his money, but just then he remembered that he had left for school in a hurry in the morning and forgotten to take the money. He looked under his books, hoping to find some money but there was nothing.
Not knowing what to do, he walked out of the classroom and sat on a bench in front of the dining room. He saw a few of his classmates there, among whom was Fahad. He was one of the richest kids in his class but he was very arrogant. But as Asad was new, he didn’t know much about anyone.
Asad thought he might borrow some money from Fahad and return it to him the next day. So he got up and slowly went towards Fahad and asked if he could borrow some money.
Fahad smirked (讥笑) and said, “I knew you were a loser, but I didn’t know you were also a beggar?” Fahad laughed out so loud that the other kids heard and also made fun of Asad.
It was too humiliating (丢脸的) for Asad. He could not answer Fahad and slowly walked back towards an empty bench. He could still hear them laughing at him in the distance. When he reached the bench, he noticed something lying near it. It was a wallet. He picked it up and recognized it was Fahad’s, as he remembered Fahad showing it to his friends and saying that his uncle bought it for him from the UK. There was quite a lot of money inside for a kid.

20. How does Jeff teach his students?

C. By asking them to read books.
【答案】18. C 19. B 20. A
【解析】
【原文】M: Jeff enjoyed science most at school, however, he was never good at languages so that he couldn’t read or write quickly. That’s why even Jeff laughs when he talks about his job these years.
He became an English teacher after he left school. Because of the past experience, Jeff really understands how hard it can be for a student who just isn’t that good at languages to succeed. And not long after he left school, he realized that’s what would make him a perfect teacher. All the students in Jeff’s class say he is the best teacher they’ve ever had. Why? Because he tries to make them fun, not like the old lessons they’re used to. But there’s another important reason why Jeff has such success. He teaches things by showing how they work in the real world, so the kids are not just trying to remember words in a boring way all the time.

As for long-distance travel, there are some wonderful destinations that actually offer you great value for your money, especially for those who do not hope to empty their pockets after a holiday.
Tokyo, Japan
B. Eating out cheap.
C. Visiting galleries free.
D. Priceless man-made objects.
22. Which one tops the list of the best value long-distance cities?
A. Tokyo. B. Bangkok.
C. Beijing. D. Dubai.
23. What is people’s common idea about Dubai?

25. What does the author tell us in paragraph 2?
A. The costs of travelling alone.
B. The danger of travelling alone.
C. The advantages of travelling alone.
D. The tiredness of travelling alone.
26. What can we learn about the author from paragraph 3?
A She missed her family very much.
【答案】24. B 25. C 26. D 27.

29. What is the author advised in the third paragraph?
A. Having an active social life at high school.
B. Preparing yourself physically ahead of time.
C. Buying the right things needed for high school.
D. Making your high school life comfortable is necessary.

Therefore, you can begin practicing sleeping early and waking up early at least two months before you report to school. (即使是在线学校,课程也很早就开始了。因此,你可以在上学前至少两个月开始练习早睡早起。)”由此推断划线词所在句意思是“与初中不同,高中的学习规则要求守时。”所以划线词意思是守时,和A选项“Being on time”同义,故选A。

B. To show the inventions are necessary.
C. To list the achievements of the year.
D. To express the confidence for travel.
35. What’s the best title for the text?
A. A new type of air taxi.。 B. Prediction for future of travel.
C. The advantage of 3D prints. D. The solution to future packing.
【答案】32. D 33. C 34. A 35. B
【解析】

【33题详解】
细节理解题。根据第五段中“Simply provide your destination with your size using a body scan before you fly and, upon arrival, you will find a wardrobe(衣橱) filled with 3D-printed clothes. (只需在起飞前通过身体扫描向目的地提供你的尺寸,到达目的地后,你就会发现一个装满3D打印衣服的衣橱。)”可知,当你到达目的地时,适合您尺寸的衣服会为您准备好的。故选C项。
【34题详解】

【35题详解】

Paragraph 2:
Then Fahad said, “why are you giving it back?”
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】At first, Asad wanted to keep it a secret and punished Fahad. At least he could afford the lunch now. However, another voice popped up, urging him to give it back to Fahad, which made him feel torn. “I should never keep the wallet at the cost of my honesty, and Fahad would be extremely embarrassed without any money in the presence of so many classmates!” Asad convinced himself. Once he made up his mind, he accelerated his pace and caught him up. “Fahad, it’s your wallet and I found it on the bench.” Taking over the wallet, Fahad stared into Asad’s eyes with a puzzled look written on his face.
Then Fahad said, “Why are you giving it back?” He even looked into his wallet, obviously doubtful about Asad’s act. Calmly and patiently, Asad explained, “I had originally wanted to keep it secret as a punishment for your arrogance, but being honest matters more to me.” Hearing what Asad had said, Fahad felt his face burning with shame. He bent, thanking Asad for saving him from the embarrassing situation and apologizing to the classmates around for calling them losers. “And the lunch is on me. You all are my friends!” Fahad announced.
