Today is December 15, 2031. Influenced by the launch of the first manned mission to Mars next month, you will most likely get a gift card for a space trip.
The interest in space trips has grown steadily among people since such a trip began. Therefore, the market has grown much larger this year since the official announcement of the Mars mission. More low-cost space lines have entered the market and you can now find flights for such a trip for as low as $3,495. It’s very reasonable.
Space tourism is one of the markets that have developed fast during the last decade, with the opening of the Starlight Hotel on the moon as well as the low orbital hotels that started accepting guests. However, accommodation in space is still expensive for the average household, so the suborbital (亚轨道的) flights with thirty-minute weightlessness during the three-hour flight will be the most popular trip.
However, the space lines might in the future face fierce (激烈的) competition with the appearance of space elevators (太空升降舱), like the one that is projected to start construction within two years. Once it is fully functional, it will start to ship cargo to space. But it will accept passengers as soon as possible to get back the large investment. Even if the elevator becomes successful, it will take several years before there are more elevators in the world to get in the competition for space traffic with the space lines.
Those who are looking for a little bit of adventure and have extra money to spend may want to consider a suborbital flight in space. While a suborbital flight may not be the space mission that you have always dreamed of, it will give you the rare opportunity to see what our planet looks like in a high-altitude flight outside our atmosphere. So before you enjoy a trip by elevator to space, enjoy a suborbital flight first.

Some people believe that humans could live on the planet Mars by the year 2100. Our own planet, the Earth, is becoming more and more crowded and polluted. It is hoped that people could start all over again and build a better world on Mars. Here is what life there could be like.
At present, our spacecraft are too slow to carry large numbers of passengers to Mars—it would take months. With the development of technology, by the year 2100, the journey might only take about 20 minutes in spacecraft that travel at the speed of light! However, the spacecraft would travel really fast, so the journey to Mars might be quite uncomfortable. Many people would feel ill.
Humans can’t live without water, air or food. So far, nobody knows whether there would be enough water or air on Mars for people. Moreover, scientists are not sure whether plants could grow on Mars. Food would most probably be in the form of pills (药片) and would not be so tasty.
Compared with life on the earth, life on Mars would be better in some ways. People would have more space. They might live in houses with huge comfortable rooms. Also, robots would do a lot of their work so that they could have more time to relax. There would probably be no schools on Mars. Every student would study at online schools with “e-teachers”.
Life on Mars would be interesting and challenging. However, it may take hundreds of years to make it true. So the most important thing we need to do now is to protect our beautiful blue planet—the Earth!
43.What does the underlined word “spacecraft” mean?
A.spaceships B.hot-air balloons
C.space stations D.planes
44.What would the flight to Mars be like by the year 2100?
A.Fast and enjoyable. B.Fast but uncomfortable.
C.Slow and boring. D.Slow but comfortable.
45.What can we learn from the passage?
A.There would be enough water and air on Mars for people.
B.Food on Mars would be more delicious than that on the earth.
C.People would be busy with work on Mars.
D.The writer thinks living on Mars would be full of challenges.
46.What’s the best title for the passage?

B.Food on Mars would be more delicious than that on the earth.
