The particles, suddenly transformed, become adapted to Saturn’s magnetic field lines and start spinning along those invisible paths. When the particles get too close to Saturn’s atmosphere, gravity pulls them in, and they vaporize (蒸发) in the planet’s clouds. Astronomers call this "ring rain", and over time this and other phenomena will weaken the distinctive rings, until nothing is left. 根据倒数第二段““But, it is a reminder that the worlds of our solar system, however still they might look from here, are dynamic places, with dramatic histories of their own. 根据倒数第二段“The Voyager mission had spotted some evidence of ring stuff leaking into Saturn, but with Cassini, astronomers could really investigate the phenomenon, and make their best estimates yet for how long the rings would stick around.(旅行者号的任务已经发现了一些光环物质泄漏到土星的证据,但通过卡西尼号,天文学家可以真正研究这一现象,并对光环会停留多久做出最好的估计。)” 根据最后一段““It’s very, very sad that the rings will disappear in the future,” O’Donoghue said. But “I’m very happy that we’re lucky enough to see it.”(“土星环将在未来消失,这是非常、非常令人难过的。” 故选A。 41.上文“Being able to produce food without a large area is a truly useful skill. And among all the foods, few are better than potatoes.”(能够在小地方种植粮食作物是一个真的很有用的技能。 42.下文“Read on and think about all the great food you could make using this easy guide.”(继续读下去,思考使用这一简易指南可以做出的所有美食。) 43.上文“Before growing potatoes, let’s first build a 4 by 4 wooden box.”(在种土豆之前,我们首先来做一个4×4的木盒子。) 44.上文“Wait about five months for the potatoes to grow up.”(等五个月左右让土豆长大。) 其中,A项“they”指代上文的“potatoes”,“they’ve grown”与上文“the potatoes to grow up”前后一致。 故选A项。 45.上文“You see, you don’t need a huge vegetable garden to grow potatoes.”(你看,你根本不必用大菜园去种土豆。) 其中G项的“A small garden design used wisely”与上文“don’t need a huge vegetable garden”语义一致。 fancy doing sth. rebuild(重建)—rebuilt—rebuilt—rebuilding。 主语it与sell是被动关系,且设空前是情态动词could,故填be sold。 C Body language is a fascinating aspect of human communication that often speaks louder than words. It is a silent form of expression that conveys our thoughts, emotions, and intentions. I have always been amazed by the way our bodies can communicate without uttering a single word. One vivid memory that comes to mind is a job interview I had a few years ago. As I sat across from the interviewer, I could feel my body tensing up. I crossed my arms and leaned back in my chair, unconsciously acting as a defensive barrier. The interviewer picked up on my closed-off posture and became more reserved in his questioning. It was clear that my body language was sending a message of discomfort and lack of confidence. Reflecting on that experience, I realized the importance of using open and confident body language in professional settings. Subtle(微妙的) changes in posture, facial expressions, and gestures can significantly impact the impression we make on others. From that day forward, I made a conscious effort to project confidence and approach ability (平易近人) through my body language. Another instance where body language played a crucial role was during a family gathering. As we sat around the dinner table, I noticed my younger sister slumping and avoiding eye contact with anyone. Her body language indicated that she was feeling upset or anxious. Without saying a word, I reached out and gently touched her hand, offering a silent gesture of support. She looked at me with gratitude, and we shared a moment of the understanding and connection. Body language is important not only in interpersonal relationships but also in public speaking. I remember watching a TED talk by a renowned speaker who captivated the audience with his confident stance, expressive gestures, and engaging eye contact. His body language promoted the impact of his words, making the talk more memorable and powerful. In conclusion, body language is a powerful tool that can convey emotions, attitudes, and intentions without the need for verbal communication. It is essential to be aware of our own body language and its impact on others. By mastering the art of body language, we can promote our communication skills and create stronger connections with those around us. 33.What is the author's main purpose in sharing the job interview experience? A. To emphasize the significance of facial expressions in communication. B. To describe a personal experience of discomfort and lack of confidence. C. To demonstrate the impact of body language on interpersonal relationships. D. To highlight the importance of non-verbal communication in professional settings. 34.What does the underlined word “captivated” in paragraph 5 most likely mean? A. Criticized. B. Fascinated. C. Distracted. D. Confused. 35. Why is it important to be conscious of our own body language? A. It can promote our public speaking skills and captivate the audience. B. It can help us understand and interpret the body language of each other. C. It can create stronger connections and improve interpersonal relationships. D. It can prevent us from making any non-verbal communication mistakes. 36.What is the structure of the passage? A. B. C. D. D Saturn’s rings are losing material every year. Incoming micrometeorites (微陨石) and the sun’s radiation disturb the small, dusty pieces of ring matter, electrifying them. “This is us looking at Saturn’s rings at their peak,” said James O’Donoghue, a planetary scientist from Japan. From our perspective, the magnificent sight seems immutable (永恒的), but, on the grand scale of things, it is fleeting. It might help to know that the process is going to take a while: O’Donoghue and other scientists estimate that the rings will disappear in about 300million years. The residents of Earth still have plenty of time to appreciate the beauty of Saturn’s rings. The science community hasn’t come to a consensus about the origin story of Saturn’s rings. But, it is a reminder that the worlds of our solar system, however still they might look from here, are dynamic places, with dramatic histories of their own. “ We think that the universe out there—as opposed to this, where we live, where everything is messy and changing all the time—is this kind of crystal and never-changing thing,” said Jeff Cuzzi, an expert on planetary rings. From afar, Saturn’s rings look so solid, like a wall you could swing your legs over. But they are anything but. The Voyager mission had spotted some evidence of ring stuff leaking into Saturn, but with Cassini, astronomers could really investigate the phenomenon, and make their best estimates yet for how long the rings would stick around. A few hundred million years is a very long time. And yet I have a sudden sharp feeling of sadness about the idea of Saturn losing its rings. So do some astronomers I’ve spoken with. I’ve come to think of this reaction as “space feel”. It has no real bearing on our daily lives, and yet they tug at the heartstrings in a cosmic way. “It’s very, very sad that the rings will disappear in the future,” O’Donoghue said. But “I’m very happy that we’re lucky enough to see it.” 37.What does the second paragraph mainly discuss? A.How Saturn’s rings are formed. B.What Saturn’s rings look like. C.Why Saturn’s rings will disappear. D.How “ring rain” comes into being. 38.What can we learn about Saturn’s rings from the passage? A.The splendor of Saturn’s rings will remain the same. B.Scientists have known for sure about the origin of Saturn’s rings. C.We can’t enjoy the beauty of Saturn’s rings unless we seize the chance. D.We can draw from Saturn’s rings that the planets in solar system are dynamic. 39.What can be inferred from the last but one paragraph? A.The universe outside the earth is never changing. B.Astronomers may calculate how long it will be before the rings disappear. C.The universe outside the earth is opposed to what we think of the earth. D.Saturn’s rings are so solid that they will not disappear. 40.How does O’Donoghue feel about the idea of Saturn losing its rings?
