应用文范文:
Good morning! I’m Li Hua. It is with great enthusiasm that I stand before you today to share my awe-inspiring experience of watching the Paris Olympics. What truly struck me was not just the medals or records broken, but the spirit that drove these athletes forward. I was truly moved by the hard work and dedication of our Chinese athletes. Whether they won or lost, they all showed incredible perseverance, determination and respect for their competitors.
With this in mind, I would like to make a heartfelt initiative. Let us embrace the fighting spirit of our athletes and carry it forward into our daily lives. Let’s strive for excellence in our studies, extracurricular activities, and personal growth. Let’s foster an environment where hard work is celebrated, where failures are seen as stepping stones to success, and where we support and encourage each other along the way.
Thank you!
续写范文:
The father ended his call and returned to the counter with a heavy heart. He was about to explain to the agent that he needed more time to sort out the issue when she turned to him with a smile and said, “ Your daughter’s ticket has been taken care of by that lady.” Confusion and thankfulness played across the father’s face. He followed the direction of the agent’s hand and spotted the departing woman. He caught up with her, thanked her and asked for her name so he could repay her later. “You don’t need to worry about repaying me,” she said softly. “Just take care of your little one.”
Tears welled up in the father’s eyes after he heard the woman’s kind words. He insisted on knowing her name and somehow repaying this selfless act. But the woman shook her head, saying,“ We all need some help sometimes. I’m grateful to have the chance to do somebody a favour.” The father nodded, feeling a connection with a stranger who had restored his faith in the kindness of humanity. The woman’s act of generosity touched everyone who bore witness, reminding them that wherever they might be, there is always someone who genuinely cares about others.

The pictures range from portraits of people to photos of cafes and shops. The exhibition is touring England, starting in Derby from 17 March to 9 April. The photos will be shown in different ways, such as in shop windows and on big advertising boards.
In London, the show will also feature photos by Jamil, who has been working with primary school pupils. Up to now, UNESCO has granted official recognition to over 800 cultural sites
that are thought to be of special significance to human history and culture. Among
them are the following four.
The Taj Mahal
It was built between 1631 and 1648, known as a masterpiece of architecture. It
took over 20,000 workers and 1,000 elephants to complete the project. In the early
17th century, an emperor named Shah Jahan ruled India. The emperor loved his
wife Mumtaz so much that when she died, he built the Taj Mahal in her memory.
The beautiful mausoleum was designed to look like what the emperor hoped would
be Mumtaz's home in the afterlife.
The Temple and Mansion of Confucius
Located in Qufu, Shandong Province, the temple is a memorial to Confucius,
the Chinese great educator. On the grounds, there are more than 900 halls and
rooms. But the building that people visit most is the Temple of Confucius.
Originally built in 478 B.C, the temple has been rebuilt many times. Besides the
temple, visitors can enjoy the grounds outside, where there are more than 1,000
stone tablets and over 100, 000 tombs.
The Imperial Tombs of the Qing and Ming Dynasties
Built by several emperors between 1368 and 1915 in Beijing, Hubei, Hebei
and Liaoning, the Imperial Tombs represent Chinese cultural and historical values
that have been handed down from generation to generation for thousands of years.
What makes them unique even among amazing buildings such as Angkor Wat and
the Cologne Cathedral is that they bring together architecture and philosophy.
The Terracotta Army
In 1974, while digging a well, some Chinese farmers accidentally found a
tomb, where they found more than 8,000 statues. They were said to be made in the
third century BC to guard the tomb of the Chinese Emperor Qinshihuang! More
than 700,000 people worked for nearly 40 years to build this tomb! It is recognized
as one of the greatest archaeological findings in the world.

The term Scotch-Irish is an American term used to describe those ScotsIrish
who live in America. In Britain the term Scots-Irish used for these people is
Ulster-Scots. Then, where did the Scots-Irish come from on earth? To find the
answer, you should get to know a little bit about the history of Scotland.
After the Celtic invasion (入侵) of Britain about 500 BC, what is now Scotland
was controlled by the Celtic people known as the Picts. This name came from the
Latin word pictus meaning “painted”. They painted their bodies with dyes (染料).
In the fifth century, the Scots from northern Ireland invaded what is now
western Scotland and established a kingdom in the highlands. They spoke Gaelic, a
Celtic language. At this same time, the AngloSaxon invasion of Britain was taking
place. Scotland is made up of the highlands and the lowlands, and the Gaelic name
for the lowlands is a’Ghalldachd, meaning “the place of the foreigners”.And
whom might those foreigners be? The Anglo-Saxon invasion of Britain included
the Angles, the Saxons and the Jutes. The Jutes came from what is now
northwestern Denmark. They settled (定居) in the southernmost part of Britain. The
Saxons came from the northwest coast of Germany and they settled in the southern
part of Britain. The Angles came from southwestern Denmark and they conquered
what is now northern England and the lowlands of Scotland. They were the
foreigners referred to in the Gaelic name for the lowlands.

In the 17th century, the British leaders decided to settle some of its people in
the Northern Ireland province of Ulster. They chose the people from Lowland
Scotland. This migration (移民) started about 1605.
When the British colonization ( 殖 民 ) of North America began, many
of them chose to join this migration. By the time of the American Revolution, it
was said that one-sixth of the population was the ScotsIrish.
24.Which of the following had the custom of body painting?
A. The Picts. B. The Scots. C. The ScotsIrish. D. The AngloSaxons.
25. What happened to what is now Scotland in the fifth century?
A. A kingdom set up by the Scots fell.
B. The Scots lost the lowlands in a war.
C. The highlands were controlled by the Jutes.
D. Gaelic was widely spoken in the highlands.
26. The underlined word “them” in the last paragraph refers to the people who
came from ______ .
A. northern England B. Ulster of Northern Ireland
C. western Scotland D. southernmost part of Britain
27. What does the text mainly want to tell us?
A. Who the ScotsIrish were exactly.
B. The AngloSaxon invasion of Britain.
C. The history of the country Scotland.
D. Why the ScotsIrish chose America to settle.

A new study suggests classic paintings by well-known Impressionists Joseph
Turner and Claude Monet may have been influenced by air pollution during the
Industrial Revolution.
The study, published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences by
authors from Harvard and Sorbonne universities, analyzed 60 oil paintings by
高二英语 第 7页,共 15 页
Turner from 1796 to 1850 and 38 paintings by Monet from 1864 to 1901.
Scientists don’t know exactly how polluted the cities were during that time for
lack of data. However, researchers say examining the works of Turner and Monet
can give a picture of long-term environmental change with the air pollution.
In particular, researchers said changes in local sulfur dioxide emissions from
burning coal may explain changes in the colour contrast and intensity of Turner,
Monet, and others’ works, even after taking into account the artistic trends and
subject matter of the time.
Scientists successfully measured painters’ representation of nature, focusing on
differences in local weather patterns which influenced colour in works painted in
different parts of Europe. Paintings done in Britain generally feature a paler blue
sky than other works in other parts of the continent. Generally, artists can
historically accurately represent their environment, so Turner and Monet were
chosen because they are famous for their landscape and cityscape paintings and
also because they were active during the Industrial Revolution, when air pollution
grew at a rate never seen before.
Additionally, researchers say that as the air in London and Paris became more
polluted, the cities would appear hazier ( 模 糊 ) to the eyes as well as in
photographs. By comparing the paintings of Turner and Monet to pictures from the
era, they were able to determine the artists were at least partly influenced by the
change in emissions.
28. What did the researchers find in the works of Turner and Monet?
A. Social trends of the period. B. Change in subject matter.
C. Air pollution at that time. D. Development of photography
29. How did the researchers conduct the study?
A. By referring to relevant historical records.
B. By relating the paintings to the air conditions then.
C.By comparing the paintings of Turner and Monet.
高二英语 第 8页,共 15 页
D.By analyzing the data during the Industrial Revolution.
30. What can we learn from paragraph 5?
A. European artists preferred landscape paintings.
B. Scientists focused on studying weather patterns.
C. Turner and Monet intended to present pollution.
D. Britain suffered from air pollution most in Europe.
31. What is the purpose of the text?
A. To instruct people to appreciate paintings.
B. To introduce the Industrial Revolution.
C. To inform people of a new discovery.
D. To call on people to protect the environment.

With lunar exploration rocketing, it poses many challenges. Among them is a
fundamental question metrologists (计量学家)worldwide are working to answer:
what time is it on the Moon?
The Moon doesn’t currently have an independent time. Each lunar mission
uses its own timescale to coordinated(协调一致的) universal time, or UTC—the
standard against which the earth’s clocks are set. The approach works when the
Moon hosts a handful of independent missions, but it will be a problem when there
are multiple craft working together. Space agencies will also want to track them
using satellite navigation, which relies on precise timing signals.
The most pressing need for lunar time comes from plans to create a dedicated
(专用的) global navigation satellite system (GNSS) for the Moon. To tackle
this problem, representatives of space agencies and academic organizations
worldwide met in November 2022 to start drafting recommendations on how to
define lunar time.
Defining lunar time is not simple. According to the Special Theory of
Relativity, clocks tick slower in stronger gravitational fields. The Moon’s
高二英语 第 9页,共 15 页
gravitational pull is weaker than Earth’s, meaning a lunar clock would run faster
than an Earth one.
Defining a lunar standard, with which all clocks are compared, will involve
installing at least three master clocks that tick at the Moon’s natural pace, and
whose output is combined by an algorithm (算法 )to generate a more accurate
‘virtual’ timepiece.
What happens then depends on which option metrologists choose. They might
decide to base lunar time on UTC. The alternative would be to use the synthesized
( 同 步 )output of the lunar atomic clocks as the Moon’s own independent,
continuous time, and to track its relationship to UTC. That way, even if the
connection with Earth is lost, clocks on the Moon will still agree with each other,
allowing safe navigation and communications.
Setting lunar time is part of a much bigger picture. It will one day work for the
more-distant planets that space agencies are ultimately targeting, such as Mars.
32. What’s the main idea of paragraph 2?
A. The working principle of UTC.
B. The achievements of space mission.
C. The problem of current lunar timing method.
D. The urgency to develop satellite navigation.
33. What is the major barrier to defining lunar time?
A. Lack of professional guidance.
B. The disagreement among metrologists.
C. The complexity of installing master clocks.
D. Different gravitational pull on the Moon.
34. What’s the advantage of defining the Moon’s independent time?
A. Keeping the clocks on the Moon corresponding.
B. Preventing spacecraft losing connection with the Earth.
C. Helping humans land on the more-distant planets.
高二英语 第 10页,共 15 页
D. Making it easier to synchronize with UTC all the time.
35. What’s the best title of the text?
A. When will Man Settle on the Moon?
B. What Time Is It on the Moon?
C. Lunar exploration: A Career Bound to Revive
D. GNSS: A More Precise Lunar Tracking System

Science can help you improve your study methods. For more than 100 years,
psychologists have done research on which study habits work best. 36 . For
example, don't just cram(填鸭式学习)!And test yourself, instead of just rereading
the material. Here are 4 tips to improve your study habits.
Space out your studying
Nate Kornell,a psychologist at Williams College, thinks it's a good idea to
study the day before a big test. But research shows it's a bad idea to force all your
studying into that day. 37 . Allow time between study sessions, and some of
the material may drip out of your memory. But then you'll be able to relearn it and
learn more in your next study session.
Practice,practice,practice!
Musicians practice their instruments. Athletes practice sports skills. 38 .
"If you want to be able to remember information, the best thing you can do is
practice," says Katherine Rawson. She's a psychologist at Kent State University in
Ohio. In one 2013 study, students took practice tests over several weeks. On the
final test, they scored more than a full letter grade better,on average, than students
who studied the way they normally had.

Airports can be stressful, and they’re made even more so when something
unexpected happens. One morning at Gate 17 of a busy international airport, a
father stood in line, holding his little daughter’s hand tightly. The kid’s eyes shone
with excitement, curious about the complexities of air travel. The man, however,
wore a look of concern. He handed over their passports and travel documents to the
airline agent.
“Sir, I’m sorry, but your daughter will need her own ticket for the flight,” the
agent explained. The father’s face turned pale. He had assumed that his 2-year-old
daughter’s age exempted (免除) her from needing a separate ticket. The cost of the
extra ticket was $749-a sum he hadn’t accounted for. He attempted to explain his
situation, but the rules were clear, and the agent’s hands were tied. The father left
the counter, excusing himself to make a few phone calls. He needed to figure out a
solution, his mind racing to find a way to secure his daughter’s seat on the flight.
As he paced up and down in the hall and made one call after another, a gentle
voice broke through his trouble. “Excuse me,” a stranger said softly, standing
before the airline counter. The agent looked at her, not sure if she was a fellow
traveler or a friend of the father’s family. The woman said, “I would like to pay for
the little girl’s ticket.” The agent was accustomed to dealing with a variety of

Up to now, UNESCO has granted official recognition to over 800 cultural sites that are thought to be of special significance to human history and culture. Among them are the following four.
The Taj Mahal
It was built between 1631 and 1648, known as a masterpiece of architecture. It took over 20,000 workers and 1,000 elephants to complete the project. In the early 17th century, an emperor named Shah Jahan ruled India. The emperor loved his wife Mumtaz so much that when she died, he built the Taj Mahal in her memory. The beautiful mausoleum was designed to look like what the emperor hoped would be Mumtaz's home in the afterlife.
The Temple and Mansion of Confucius
Located in Qufu, Shandong Province, the temple is a memorial to Confucius, the Chinese great educator. On the grounds, there are more than 900 halls and rooms. But the building that people visit most is the Temple of Confucius. Originally built in 478 B.C, the temple has been rebuilt many times. Besides the temple, visitors can enjoy the grounds outside, where there are more than 1,000 stone tablets and over 100, 000 tombs.
The Imperial Tombs of the Qing and Ming Dynasties
Built by several emperors between 1368 and 1915 in Beijing, Hubei, Hebei and Liaoning, the Imperial Tombs represent Chinese cultural and historical values that have been handed down from generation to generation for thousands of years. What makes them unique even among amazing buildings such as Angkor Wat and the Cologne Cathedral is that they bring together architecture and philosophy.
The Terracotta Army
In 1974, while digging a well, some Chinese farmers accidentally found a tomb, where they found more than 8,000 statues. They were said to be made in the third century BC to guard the tomb of the Chinese Emperor Qinshihuang! More than 700,000 people worked for nearly 40 years to build this tomb! It is recognized as one of the greatest archaeological findings in the world.

The term Scotch-Irish is an American term used to describe those ScotsIrish who live in America. In Britain the term Scots-Irish used for these people is Ulster-Scots. Then, where did the Scots-Irish come from on earth? To find the answer, you should get to know a little bit about the history of Scotland.
After the Celtic invasion (入侵) of Britain about 500 BC, what is now Scotland was controlled by the Celtic people known as the Picts. This name came from the Latin word pictus meaning “painted”. They painted their bodies with dyes (染料).
In the fifth century, the Scots from northern Ireland invaded what is now western Scotland and established a kingdom in the highlands. They spoke Gaelic, a Celtic language. At this same time, the AngloSaxon invasion of Britain was taking place. Scotland is made up of the highlands and the lowlands, and the Gaelic name for the lowlands is a’Ghalldachd, meaning “the place of the foreigners”.And whom might those foreigners be? The Anglo-Saxon invasion of Britain included the Angles, the Saxons and the Jutes. The Jutes came from what is now northwestern Denmark. They settled (定居) in the southernmost part of Britain. The Saxons came from the northwest coast of Germany and they settled in the southern part of Britain. The Angles came from southwestern Denmark and they conquered what is now northern England and the lowlands of Scotland. They were the foreigners referred to in the Gaelic name for the lowlands.
In the 17th century, the British leaders decided to settle some of its people in the Northern Ireland province of Ulster. They chose the people from Lowland Scotland. This migration (移民) started about 1605.
When the British colonization (殖民) of North America began, many of them chose to join this migration. By the time of the American Revolution, it was said that one-sixth of the population was the ScotsIrish.
26. The underlined word “them” in the last paragraph refers to the people who came from ______ .
A. northern England B. Ulster of Northern Ireland
C. western Scotland D. southernmost part of Britain
27. What does the text mainly want to tell us?
A. Who the ScotsIrish were exactly.
B. The AngloSaxon invasion of Britain.
C. The history of the country Scotland.
D. Why the ScotsIrish chose America to settle.

A new study suggests classic paintings by well-known Impressionists Joseph Turner and Claude Monet may have been influenced by air pollution during the Industrial Revolution.
The study, published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences by authors from Harvard and Sorbonne universities, analyzed 60 oil paintings by Turner from 1796 to 1850 and 38 paintings by Monet from 1864 to 1901.
Scientists don’t know exactly how polluted the cities were during that time for lack of data. However, researchers say examining the works of Turner and Monet can give a picture of long-term environmental change with the air pollution.
In particular, researchers said changes in local sulfur dioxide emissions from burning coal may explain changes in the colour contrast and intensity of Turner, Monet, and others’ works, even after taking into account the artistic trends and subject matter of the time.
Scientists successfully measured painters’ representation of nature, focusing on differences in local weather patterns which influenced colour in works painted in different parts of Europe. Paintings done in Britain generally feature a paler blue sky than other works in other parts of the continent. Generally, artists can historically accurately represent their environment, so Turner and Monet were chosen because they are famous for their landscape and cityscape paintings and also because they were active during the Industrial Revolution, when air pollution grew at a rate never seen before.
Additionally, researchers say that as the air in London and Paris became more polluted, the cities would appear hazier (模糊) to the eyes as well as in photographs. By comparing the paintings of Turner and Monet to pictures from the era, they were able to determine the artists were at least partly influenced by the change in emissions.
D
With lunar exploration rocketing, it poses many challenges. Among them is a fundamental question metrologists (计量学家)worldwide are working to answer: what time is it on the Moon?
The Moon doesn’t currently have an independent time. Each lunar mission uses its own timescale to coordinated(协调一致的) universal time, or UTC—the standard against which the earth’s clocks are set. The approach works when the Moon hosts a handful of independent missions, but it will be a problem when there are multiple craft working together. Space agencies will also want to track them using satellite navigation, which relies on precise timing signals.
The most pressing need for lunar time comes from plans to create a dedicated
(专用的) global navigation satellite system (GNSS) for the Moon. To tackle this problem, representatives of space agencies and academic organizations worldwide met in November 2022 to start drafting recommendations on how to define lunar time.
Defining lunar time is not simple. According to the Special Theory of Relativity, clocks tick slower in stronger gravitational fields. The Moon’s gravitational pull is weaker than Earth’s, meaning a lunar clock would run faster than an Earth one.
Defining a lunar standard, with which all clocks are compared, will involve installing at least three master clocks that tick at the Moon’s natural pace, and whose output is combined by an algorithm (算法)to generate a more accurate ‘virtual’ timepiece.
What happens then depends on which option metrologists choose. They might decide to base lunar time on UTC. The alternative would be to use the synthesized (同步)output of the lunar atomic clocks as the Moon’s own independent, continuous time, and to track its relationship to UTC. That way, even if the connection with Earth is lost, clocks on the Moon will still agree with each other, allowing safe navigation and communications.
Setting lunar time is part of a much bigger picture. It will one day work for the more-distant planets that space agencies are ultimately targeting, such as Mars.
D. Making it easier to synchronize with UTC all the time.
35. What’s the best title of the text?
A. When will Man Settle on the Moon?
B. What Time Is It on the Moon?
C. Lunar exploration: A Career Bound to Revive
D. GNSS: A More Precise Lunar Tracking System

Science can help you improve your study methods. For more than 100 years, psychologists have done research on which study habits work best. 36 . For example, don't just cram(填鸭式学习)!And test yourself, instead of just rereading the material. Here are 4 tips to improve your study habits.
Space out your studying
Nate Kornell,a psychologist at Williams College, thinks it's a good idea to study the day before a big test. But research shows it's a bad idea to force all your studying into that day. 37 . Allow time between study sessions, and some of the material may drip out of your memory. But then you'll be able to relearn it and learn more in your next study session.
Practice,practice,practice!
Musicians practice their instruments. Athletes practice sports skills. 38 . "If you want to be able to remember information, the best thing you can do is practice," says Katherine Rawson. She's a psychologist at Kent State University in Ohio. In one 2013 study, students took practice tests over several weeks. On the final test, they scored more than a full letter grade better,on average, than students who studied the way they normally had.
____39_____
Scientist Nebel suggests. “ Create a pack of flash cards every time you learn new information.”Put questions on one side and the answers on the other side of the card and try to quiz yourself the way the teacher asks questions.” she adds. “It will be of great help.”
Find examples
___40___. But it tend to be far easier to form a mental image if you have a concrete example of something.
A.Ask questions
B.Test yourself
C.The same should go for learning.
D. Instead, space out those study sessions.
E.Some tips help for almost every subject.
F.Abstract concepts can be hard to understand.
G.It’s hard to remember a string of facts and figures if you don’t push further.
