Zhu Yanjun is a migrant worker (农民工) from northwest China’s Gansu Province. Recently the 50-year-old took part in the 2023 Chinese Poem Competition and won second place in the final.
Zhu was born in a family of farmers. As a young boy, Zhu would help his father do farm work after finishing classes. In 1983, as a first grader in primary school, he met poetry for the first time in a Chinese class. Since then, he has been in love with poems. After noticing Zhu’s interest, his father spared some money from the family’s living costs to buy him poetry collections (诗歌集). Although he is busy working during the day, he spends his time at noon and in the evening reading poems. He knows some 1,000 poems by heart and the lines help him keep a calm mind.
In 2023, with the encouragement of his wife, Zhu decided to sign up for the 2023 Chinese Poem Competition. To his surprise, he made it to the final. Under his influence, his son and daughter have developed a great interest in poetry. How will life be in the future? It is said that almost everything will be different from what it is now. First of all, people will be able to control the weather. For places where there is a need for water, people can simply make some rainy days. They can make it sunny the next day if they want to go out. Secondly, computers will help people do every kind of work. For example, there is no need to complete dangerous work by yourself. Computers can do it for you. Also, students will not go to school because computers can teach them everything they want to learn at home. One thing, however, will be still the same in the future. That is “love”. In a world, where everything is changing so fast around us, isn’t it good to know that there is still something we can hold onto? In the future, people will still get together on important days like Christmas or Chinese New Year to show their love to each other. After all, people always need “love” to remind them of how lucky they are to be in this world.
28. Students will not study on the computer at home.
29. People will get together on important days.
30. This passage tells us nothing will be the same in the future.

An idol is someone who we respect or love. However, unlike many of my classmates, my idol is not a film star, a famous writer or a sportsman. He is neither a world leader nor an important person from history. My idol is my dad.
When I was only a five-year-old boy, I was seriously ill and needed attention all the time. My mother and father both worked and my grandparents lived far away. My dad knew how much my mum loved her job, so he stopped working to stay at home and look after me. Many men in this situation would want their wives to stay with the child, but my dad always thinks about others before himself. This made me start to respect him.
My dad has helped and supported me in everything I do. I remember when I was learning to ride a bike. My dad ran behind me and held the back of the bicycle so that I would not fall. I felt so safe because I knew he was near. Later I was interested in drawing. He tried his best to support me. He even took a job and worked at night to make more money.
My family is not rich, and we do not own a big house or an expensive car. My dad has showed me that something is more important than money. My dad gives me his time. Although he now works hard every day and is often very busy, he always makes time to stay with me. He helps me with my homework, and plays games with me at weekends. We make and fly our own kites, go for walks in the countryside, and even cook together. He taught me that I can achieve anything if I really work hard on it.
My dad is my idol because he showed me the most important things in life.

【12题详解】
句意:20世纪初,路上行驶的电动汽车比汽油车多。

【13题详解】
句意:当汽油价格下降和汽油汽车的新技术开发出来时,电动汽车已经过时了。
prices价格;places地方;stations车站;keepers饲养员根据“When gasoline… dropped”可知,此处指油价下降,故选A。
【14题详解】
句意:汽油车反而变得更受欢迎,因为它们可以不停车跑得更远。
instead反而;still仍然;yet还;forever永远。根据前文“electric cars were more popular”及“Gasoline cars became more popular ”可知,现在汽油车反而受欢迎,故选A。
