A
Welcome to our museum, and let's explore the marine animals from the mysterious huge squid (鱿鱼) to the pram bug. These creatures are stranger than fiction.
Vampire squid
Despite their ill name, vampire squids are relatively small, growing up to about 12 inches in length. They have a body with webbing between their arms, giving them a cloak-like appearance. How did this gentle, deep-sea creature earn the fearsome name? German biologist Carl Chun first described the vampire squid in 1903. He named it "vampire squid from hell."
Hoodwinker sunfish
Unlike the vampire squid, the hoodwinker sunfish is a newly discovered species. The fish was first identified in 2017. It's known to mainly inhabit cold waters off the coasts of New Zealand, Australia, Chile, Peru, and South Africa. Sunfish can weigh 2,000 pounds and vary significantly in appearance within the same species and change the structure as they grow.
Gulper eel
Despite its slim body, the gulper eel's mouth can suddenly expand like a soap bubble, allowing it to spoon up much larger prey. Its large mouth allows it to swallow prey (猎物) whole, adapting well to the shortage of food in the deep ocean. However, the Gulper eel is also known as the pelican eel because of its spoon-like feeding method.
Pram bug
Pram bugs, known as Phronima, inhabit the twilight zone of oceans worldwide, typically 200 to 1,000 meters below the surface. The mother pram bug uses her crab-like front claws to eat out the salp’s insides, inhabit its shell and lay her eggs inside. Once she exits, she powers the salp (海参) forward like a pram, hence the name.
21.Which of the following creatures sounds frightening?
A.Vampire squid. B.Hoodwinker sunfish.
C.Gulper eel. D.Pram bug.
22.What do we know about the hoodwinker sunfish?
A.It maintains the same appearance. B.It usually swallows prey whole.
C.It mainly lives in cold waters. D.It takes up shells as shelters.
23.What is the passage mainly about?
A.Some fiction stories. B.Some ocean creatures.
C.Some popular museums. D.Some new discoveries.

Flowers, ocean waves, animals, totem (图腾): Sitting in his northeast Beijing studio, Cai Honghao hammers on a piece of cow leather, bringing to life a new design. Cai, 41, is one of China’s few leather crafters.
He began crafting leather six years ago when he was the creative director of an advertising company. Fed up with the stress of his job, Cai declined to renew his contract last year. He is now devoted to leather crafting. “It’s great fun as I try new designs and make it more challenging.”
Each work undergoes many stages, from drawing pictures on paper to coloring the crafted leather. He does it all himself, but sometimes his wife helps. The back of the leather should be pasted on paper to prevent changing the shape, and then covered with tape to seal it during coloring. Cai also sprays water on the surface to make the leather easier to work. His 70-square-meter studio is filled with leather and tools. Pens are used to carve the outline of the pattern, while different machines create the shallow holes on the leather. The patterns become vivid under Cai’s hammers and shaping tools. For a bag or belt, he also sews pieces of leather together, and a work can take a week to several months, with the prices up to tens of thousands of yuan.
“It is an extremely complicated and time-consuming process,” he says. His shoulders can ache after bending over his worktop day and night. “But I enjoy it, and my family are keen on my art. Otherwise, they would not let me do this fulltime.” Cai hopes to realize the beauty of ancient Chinese paintings that are full of Chinese flavor. “Now my dream is realized,” he says. His next project is an exhibition of his work.
24.Why did Cai Honghao leave his job last year?
A.He was forced by his contract. B.He was fond of advertising.
C.He was tired of the pressure. D.He was blamed by the director.
25.What does Paragraph 3 mainly tell us?
A.The effectiveness of Cai’s skills. B.The efficiency of Cai’s machines.
C.The complexity of leather crafting. D.The diversity of rare leather works.
26.What can best describe his commitment to the shoulder-aching job?
A.Do not put off until tomorrow what you love to do at this moment.
B.Do what you love, and you’ll never have to work a day in your life.
C.Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.
D.If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t, change your attitude.
27.What is his family members’ attitude?
A.Favorable. B.Doubtful. C.Indifferent. D.Unclear.

When people take with them their own expectations about tipping as they travel around the world, it generates no small amount of confusion. Norwegians, who come from a culture where wages are high and tips are low, could burn through Las Vegas leaving a trail of outrage with their tiny offerings. Meanwhile, high-tipping Americans might offend everyone in Tokyo because good service in Japan is a matter of honour, as in: “How dare you suggest I be rewarded for handing you a plate of sashimi without dropping it in your lap?”
We’re all in an embarrassed mess because there’s no consistent logic to any of this. None!
Tipping, as we know it, started in Tudor England when noblemen visited each other’s country homes and gave extra money to the servants as a thank-you for helping them with their clothing. Hundreds of years later, the tradition has become totally random. A recent study found that people are twice as likely to tip a grocery delivery person than a grocery store clerk, and roughly twice as likely to tip a waiter than a fast-food restaurant worker. Why is that? A paid job is a paid job, right? The grocery deliverer is paid to deliver and the grocery clerk is paid to clerk. So tipping one and not the other only makes sense in terms of what has become customary.
No one expects a tip in much of Southeast Asia or Australia, beyond saying “keep the change.” Compare that to the United States, where restaurant tips of up to 25 percent are now expected for very good service; in Canada, it’s 15 to 20 percent. Sometimes, that too can feel tense. “Even when the server tells you about it up front, it’s awkward,” one friend who encountered this custom said. “Do you tip more if they were really good? What if they weren’t good?”
It’s enough to make your head hurt — but will we soon have to worry about tipping with bitcoin? I don’t even understand the notion of cryptocurrency (数字加密货币), much less how to use the new tipping apps that are popping up around it. Maybe that’s how people used to feel about money itself, back when they traded goods and services with shells and weapons and rice. Back when there was no tipping.
28.The first paragraph is intended to ______ .
A.emphasize the universal importance of tipping
B.illustrate the global variations in tipping practices
C.argue that tipping customs are outdated in certain cultures
D.describe the economic impact of tipping on different countries
29.By origin, a tip was ______ .
A.a customary part of grocery delivery
B.an expected payment for essential services
C.a gesture of gratitude from the upper class
D.a modern concept in cryptocurrency transactions
30.What can be learned about Americans’ tipping practices from the passage?
A.Americans are used to give tips wherever they go.
B.Americans give fatter tips in restaurants than elsewhere.
C.Americans are generally unwilling but forced to give a tip.
D.Americans mainly tip those who provide very good service.
31.The author mention bitcoin when talking about tipping in order to ______ .
A.argue that traditional tipping methods are outdated
B.suggest that cryptocurrency may complicate tipping customs
C.criticize the idea of using virtual currency for everyday purchase
D.emphasize that digital payments have simplified the tipping process
根据文章第一段内容“When people take with them their own expectations about tipping as they travel around the world, it generates no small amount of confusion. Norwegians, who come from a culture where wages are high and tips are low, could burn through Las Vegas leaving a trail of outrage with their tiny offerings. Meanwhile, high-tipping Americans might offend everyone in Tokyo because good service in Japan is a matter of honour, as in: “How dare you suggest I be rewarded for handing you a plate of sashimi without dropping it in your lap?”(当人们带着自己对小费的期望环游世界时,这会产生不小的困惑。
根据文章第三段“Tipping, as we know it, started in Tudor England when noblemen visited each other’s country homes and gave extra money to the servants as a thank-you for helping them with their clothing.(我们所知道的小费制度起源于都铎王朝时期的英格兰,当时贵族们互相拜访乡间宅邸,会给仆人一些额外的钱,以感谢他们帮忙整理衣物。)”
根据文章第第一段“Meanwhile, high-tipping Americans might offend everyone in Tokyo because good service in Japan is a matter of honour, as in: “How dare you suggest I be rewarded for handing you a plate of sashimi without dropping it in your lap?”(与此同时,给高额小费的美国人可能会冒犯东京的所有人,因为在日本,良好的服务是一种荣誉,比如:“我递给你一盘生鱼片,而没有把它掉到你的腿上,你怎么敢建议我得到奖励?”)”和第四段“No one expects a tip in much of Southeast Asia or Australia, beyond saying “keep the change.” Compare that to the United States, where restaurant tips of up to 25 percent are now expected for very good service; in Canada, it’s 15 to 20 percent. (在东南亚或澳大利亚的大部分地区,除了说“不用找零钱了”之外,没有人指望得到小费。相比之下,在美国,现在餐厅的小费高达25%,因为服务非常好;在加拿大,这一比例为15%至20%)”可推断,美国人在餐馆给的小费比其他地方多。故选B。
31.推理判断题。根据文章最后一段“It’s enough to make your head hurt — but will we soon have to worry about tipping with bitcoin? I don’t even understand the notion of cryptocurrency (数字加密货币), much less how to use the new tipping apps that are popping up around it.(这足以让人头疼——但我们很快就要担心用比特币付小费了吗?我甚至都不理解数字货币的概念,更不用说如何使用那些围绕它而出现的新款付小费应用程序了。)”可知,作者提到比特币是为了暗示数字货币可能会使小费习俗变得复杂。故选B。
D
One Alabama school was extremely creative in encouraging students to read more and to help improve the school district's literacy. They added an Inchy’s Bookworm Vending (售货) Machine, an actual vending machine that allows students to add a special coin and get a brand new book.
Sixth grade reading teacher Kristy White said students have been inspired to earn coins so they can get a new book. Every classroom has coins, and students can earn them by improving their reading or math skills or exhibiting good behavior.
Kristy said it only takes one coin to use the machine. Nice! What’s even nicer is there are books for all grade levels and students even make suggestions for titles they' d like to see. Funding for the vending machine came from community support through donations and grants.
Lucy Williamson was the first student to use the machine. The sixth-grader said she can see the growing excitement of her fellows and she looks forward to getting even more books. “This has some different books that the library doesn’t have and I’m able to keep the book longer because it’s mine so I have more time to read it,” Lucy said. She also shared that she rereads books often, so being able to choose a book that she can take home is a real plus.
Beyond reading, the vending machine has also encouraged students to behave better. And when a student gets a coin everyone celebrates the win. “The students are thrilled when they are the students who get the coin that week. They come down here and other students cheer for them,” Kristy said.
We’re cheering for them, too! This is such a unique way to motivate students. Reading is so fundamental that it really serves as the foundation for all other learning. This vending machine is just one way to help students succeed.
32.What does the underlined word “literacy” in Paragraph 1 mean?
A.Communication skills. B.Academic performance.
C.Reading and writing ability. D.Professional knowledge.
33.What can we know about the vending machine?
A.It is totally free of charge.
B.It turns a blind eye to students’ advice.
C.It encourages students’ positive growth.
D.It aims to raise money for local community.
34.Why did Lucy commit herself to using the vending machine?
A.To enrich her extra curricular life. B.To escape from the school library.
C.To gain respect and praise from her fellows. D.To enjoy selecting and rereading books.
35.Which is the suitable title for the text?
A.The Importance of Offering Reading Courses.
B.A Unique Way to Inspire Students to Read.
C.Kristy White: A Creative Reading Teacher.
D.Lucy Williamson: A Model Pupil at School.
根据第一段中“One Alahama school was extremely creative in encouraging students to read more (阿拉哈马的一所学校非常有创意地鼓励学生多读书。)”
根据第一段中“They added an Inchy’s Bookworm Vending (售货) Machine, an actual vending machine that allows students to add a special coin and get a brand new book.(他们增加了一台Inchy’s Bookworm自动贩卖机,这是一台真正的自动贩卖机,学生们可以投一枚特殊的硬币,得到一本全新的书。)”和第二段中“Sixth-grade reading teacher Kristy White said students have been inspired to earn coins so they can get a new book. Every classroom has coins, and students can earn them by improving in their reading or math skills or exhibiting good behavior.(六年级阅读老师克里斯蒂·怀特表示,学生们被激励去赚硬币,这样他们就可以得到一本新书。每个教室都有硬币,学生可以通过提高阅读或数学技能或表现良好来获得硬币。)”可推知,自动售货机鼓励学生积极成长。故选C。
34.细节理解题。根据第四段中“This has some different books that the library doesn’t have and I’m able to keep the book longer because it’s mine so I have more time to read it,(这里有一些图书馆没有的不同的书,我可以把书保存得更久,因为它是我的,所以我有更多的时间来阅读。)”和“She also shared that she rereads books often, so being able to choose a book that she can take home is a real plus.(她还分享说,她经常重读书籍,所以能够选择一本可以带回家的书是一个真正的优点。)”
根据最后一段“We’re cheering for them, too! This is such a unique way to motivate students. Reading is so fundamental that it really serves as the foundation for all other learning. This vending machine is just one way to help students succeed.(我们也在为他们加油!这是一种激励学生的独特方式。阅读是非常重要的,它实际上是所有其他学习的基础。这个自动售货机只是帮助学生成功的方法之一。)”可知,文章介绍了一种激励学生阅读的独特方法——自动售货机,来帮助学生获得成功。因此B项“激励学生阅读的独特方法”是文章的最佳标题。故选B。

Children love to draw, sing, and dance.(孩子们喜欢画画、唱歌和跳舞。)与下文句意相连,“them”和“they”指代G中的“Chidren”,“It”指代G中提到的“draw, sing and dance”,衔接合理。故选G。
根据下文“However, many employers also understand the very important need for the skills which are hard to measure and often difficult to define. Some examples include a person’s ability to adapt to change, think creatively, or collaborate with team members.”(然而,许多雇主也明白对那些难以衡量和定义的技能的重要需求,一些例子包括一个人适应变化、创造性思考或与团队成员合作的能力。) A. Art and human history go hand-in-hand.(艺术和人类历史是密不可分的。)
39.根据上一句“We can study art to find out what those before us were facing and how they overcame it.”(我们可以通过学习艺术来了解前人所面临的问题,以及他们是如何克服的。),选项E. Similarly, future generations will learn about current events by the art we leave behind.(同样,子孙后代将通过我们留下的艺术来了解当前的事件。)
40.根据上一句“In therapy (疗法) settings, art also provides an opportunity for digging deeper and expressing emotions that are difficult to discuss.”(在治疗环境中,艺术也提供了一个深入挖掘和表达难以讨论的情感的机会。)和下文“This group was able to improve their mood when compared with children who were instructed to draw the negative event or simply copy another drawing.”(与那些被指导画消极事件或只是复制另一幅画的孩子相比,这组孩子的情绪得到了改善。) C. It can help people handle mental problems.(它可以帮助人们解决心理问题。)

In modern times, there seem to be hundreds of sports for us. Whatever you like, you will find one 56 (suit) for you. In addition, we can choose to work out in stadiums, gyms, or at home. Nowadays, sports can be 57 (rough) divided into two categories—competitive sports and mass sports. The former means that athletes must compete 58 each other for medals in championships or events in Olympics to win honour and glory for their country, 59 needs not only skills and strength but also great determination. However, success often comes along with error, stress, failure and 60 (injury). Sometimes even a master may fall apart, but he never loses heart. Finally he makes it and becomes a champion and legend, 61 (set) an example to others. 62 (compare) with competitive sports, mass sports focus on fitness rather than 63 (compete). Millions of people go jogging or do push-ups 64 (keep) healthy or become slimmer instead of going on a diet by cutting out fat. However, with no audience to shout encouragement, they may give up. They cheat themselves into taking exercise the next day or pretend to have done it otherwise, which doesn’t make sense. However, even if you take exercise now and then, it will make 65 difference and have positive effects, won’t it? So why not move in and join in the mass sports?
56.suitable 57.roughly 58.against/with 59.which 60.injuries 61.setting 62.Compared 63.competition 64.to keep 65.a

compete against/with为固定搭配,表示“与……竞争”。故填against/with。
故填which。

故填to keep。

Landon and Henry were two enthusiastic adventurers. They had set up their campsite on the edge of a beautiful forest, which was their base for this exploration. Their campsite was filled with essential supplies, carefully organized before they took their journey into the wild. It was a place that symbolized safety and the start and end of their exciting adventures.
On a particular day, as they journeyed deeper into the wilderness, the sky, which had been clear and blue just moments ago, began to transform in a terrifying manner. Black clouds gathered really fast, coming together and covering up the sun completely. The wind blew through the trees, making them feel a really cold kind of fear all over their bodies. And then, a strong rainstorm crashed down upon them, drenching (淋透) them instantly. The ground beneath their feet turned into a slippery mess, making every step a struggle.
As they struggled through the downpour, they soon realized that they were lost. Their compasses (指南针) didn’t work, and the familiar landmarks they’d counted on were now hidden by the curtain of rain. To make matters worse, because they were in the thick forest, their mobile phones couldn’t receive signals, and they couldn’t call for help. Henry’s face grew pale. The situation seemed so hopeless that he began to think of giving up. “We’ll never make it out,” he almost cried, his voice shaking with tiredness and fear.
But Landon wouldn’t hear of it. He put a firm hand on Henry’s shoulder. “We can’t quit now. We must recognize that giving in to it now means we fail,” he said, his eyes burning with determination. “We’ve been through tough times before, and we’ve always come out on top. This is just another challenge for us to overcome.” His words were like a warm fire in the cold rain. Hearing the words, Henry said he’d fight fearlessly with Landon.
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150左右;
Landon remembered seeing a small cave during their earlier exploration.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Landon remembered seeing a small cave during their earlier exploration. With great effort, they inched towards it. When they finally reached the cave, it was a relief, but they still had to face the cold and the uncertainty of when the storm would end. They knew that starting a fire was crucial for their survival. Fortunately, their lighters could still work. They searched the cave entrance thoroughly for dry materials and found some tree branches sheltered from the rain under an overhanging rock. They started a small fire.
As Landon and Henry sat by the fire, they planned their next move. Landon took out a small, water-damaged notebook from his backpack, where he’d drawn a rough map of the area during their earlier exploration. He pointed to a river and said, “We need to find our way back to that river. It flows in the direction of our campsite.” Henry nodded. When the rain finally stopped, they ventured out into the now-muddy wilderness. After a long time, they reached the river. Following it downstream, they finally spotted the familiar sight of their campsite. Their hearts were filled with joy.

Dear Chris,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to share with you an enlightening experience I had at our school’s Psychology Club event called “Know Yourself” last week.
The event started with self-assessment questionnaires. I then engaged in emotion management training, which equipped me with the skills to recognize, express, and regulate my emotions effectively. I found the experience incredibly inspiring, as not only did it facilitate my deeper understanding of myself but it also contributed to better emotional resilience.
Overall, this is a rewarding activity that motivates me to embrace my uniqueness. Have you attended any similar activities recently? Looking forward to you reply.
Yours,
Li Hua

A
Welcome to our museum, and let's explore the marine animals from the mysterious huge squid (鱿鱼) to the pram bug.

In therapy (疗法) settings, art also provides an opportunity for digging deeper and expressing emotions that are difficult to discuss. 40 .
