Passage 3(23-24七年级上·广东广州·期末)
When people started using plastic (塑料) in the 1950s, they found it such a wonderful thing. It helps keep food better and longer, make machines lighter and protect against illness. But we find something bad after over-using it.
Plastic is hard to break down. Poisonous (有毒的) things in it pollute the water and soil. They are causing environmental problems. A whale died in Thailand not long ago. Its stomach was full of plastic bags. Sea birds think little plastic things are food, so they feed their chicks with them. Many animals like these died because of them.
Plastic also goes into our bodies. Very little plastic is almost everywhere, even in water and food. When we eat the food and drink the water with very little plastic in it, it gets into our bodies and it’s bad for our health.
Now, we should take action to use less plastic.
First, we should stop using all single-use plastic we do not need. Don't use straws (吸管), plastic knives and forks, plastic cups and bags. We can all drink from a glass, without straws.
Second, we can use other things to replace (取代) plastic ones. Bamboo is friendly to our earth. It provides food for giant pandas and mountain gorillas. Besides, planting bamboo is good for lands and soil.
Third, we need to recycle (再利用). We can stop using single-use plastic, but we still have many plastic products which are useful to us and not so easy to be replaced. For example, workers use many kilos of plastic to make cars because it makes the car lighter and need less energy. This plastic must be recycled.
Waste is a potential resource. We can turn it into new products, creating jobs and protecting Mother Earth at the same time.
1.According to the passage, we use plastic to ________.
① keep food better and longer
② make some machines lighter
③ protect against different illness
④ help discover many new things
A.①②③ B.②③④ C.①②④ D.①③④
2.Why using too much plastic makes an environmental problem?
A.Animals like eating plastic things.
B.Plastic is hard to break down in the nature.
C.Plastic is almost everywhere in everyone’s body now.
D.Sea birds use plastic as food special for their chicks.
3.What does the underlined word “them” in the second paragraph mean?
A.Sea birds. B.Plastic things. C.Animals. D.Chicks.

B.Pay for the plastic bags while shopping.
C.Use bamboo to replace single-use plastic.

Passage 10(22-23七年级上·广东广州·期末)
Many places in our world are becoming hotter and the weather is becoming more surprising. More and more ice is melting(融化) at the North Pole and the South Pole of our earth. Unluckily, we may not be able to stop these changes. Why? Because the weather of our earth is so difficult to control(控制)!
I will tell you something about our world’s surprising weather: one Roman man wrote about frogs raining from the sky almost 2,000 years ago. Can this really happen? Yes, it can! What’s more, fish and other small animals can also “rain”. They sometimes happen when a storm(暴风雨) brings very strong winds. The winds blow over the surface of oceans or lakes. Small frogs and fish aren’t very heavy, so the winds take them to the sky and then they come back down with the rain.
The frog rain isn’t new in many places. In 2005, people in Serbia walked outside their homes after a storm and couldn’t believe their eyes. Hundreds of frogs were trying to jump back to water. If you’re interested to see what “frog rain” looks like, you can go to watch the 1999 movie Magnolia.
Bad weather may cause many problems to people’s lives. It’s not easy to control the weather. However, everyone should do something to protect our earth.

Passage 15(24-25七年级上·广州·期末模拟)
A Long March 5 rocket took off from the Wenchang Space Launch Site in Hainan Province on May 3, 2024. After flying for about 37 minutes, it successfully placed the Chang’e 6 robotic lunar probe (月球探测器) into an Earth-moon transfer trajectory (转移轨道). Several days later the probe was programmed to land on the moon’s far side and started its tasks, which would last about 53 days.
This is the world’s first try to bring samples (样本) from the moon’s far side. For China, it’s the second sample-return moon journey. Chang’e 5 successfully brought samples from the moon in the winter of 2020. Up to now, 10 moon sample-return tasks have been carried out by the United States, the former Soviet Union (前苏联) and China, but all these samples were collected from the moon’s near side.
The moon’s far side has always been a subject of scientific wonder because of its many mysteries. It’s facing away from Earth and it can never be seen from Earth. It was once called the “dark side of the moon” even though it receives just as much sunlight as the near side.
Chinese researchers have found that the soil on the far side is much thicker than that on the near side, but they haven’t found out the reason. Samples brought back by Chang’e 5 have helped scientists find that there were volcanic (火山的) activities on the near side around 2 billion years ago. Some scientists thought maybe volcanoes became inactive on the far side about 4 billion years ago. Is it true? Samples from the far side will allow them to know the answer.
“Comparing the make-up of the far side samples from Chang’e 6 with those collected from the near side will be of great scientific value to the international community,” said Martin Sweeting, a famous professor of space engineering.
1.When did Chang’e 6 begin to work on the moon?

2.How many times has China got samples from the moon’s near side?
A.Once. B.Twice. C.Five times. D.Ten times.
3.What can we learn from Martin Sweeting’s words?
A.Chang’e 6 will stay longer on the moon for more tasks.
B.Chang’e 6 is carrying out a valuable task for the world.
C.Chang’e 6 will bring samples from both sides of the moon.
D.Chang’e 6 can compare samples before bringing them back.

February 2 is Groundhog Day in North America. The groundhog is the only animal with its own holiday.

D.Sea birds use plastic as food special for their chicks.
3.What does the underlined word “them” in the second paragraph mean?
A.Sea birds. B.Plastic things. C.Animals. D.Chicks.
4.Which of the following is good for the environment?
A.Drink with a straw while in the restaurant.
B.Pay for the plastic bags while shopping.
C.Use bamboo to replace single-use plastic.
D.Throw away the single-use plastic.

Then everyone will read it by themselves first and then talk about the book with others. Reading is not just something you love doing by yourself. It’s also fun to talk about what you’re reading with friends.
There are no rules (规则) of starting a book club. But it’s better to have a plan for it. Here it is.
First, before you start a book club, you should think about “What will my book club be like?” “When and where will we meet?”
Then, ask your friends to come to your club. Think of eight to twelve people around your age. You may ask your friends for help, and they can ask their friends to come. These people may be your new club members. And you can make friends with them.
Next, having a topic can also help. The topic may interest members to look up more information about it. You might want to read stories about history. The topic “history” makes it easier to know which books to read. If every time every member helps find a book to read, you might know more great new books and writers.

1.How does the writer make us know the surprising weather well?
A.By answering some questions. B.By making a study.
C.By using some numbers. D.By giving us some examples.
2.Why does the writer write the second paragraph?

B.To tell us about a kind of strange weather.
C.To ask us to protect frogs and other animals.
D.To tell us something about the danger near the sea.
3.How did people in Serbia feel when they walked out of the door?
A.Happy. B.Tired. C.Angry. D.Surprised.
4.What’s the purpose (目的) of the passage?
A.To make us love science. B.To let us care about animals.
C.To ask us to protect our earth. D.To ask us to watch Magnolia.

Many wild animals are in great danger. So we should try to protect them. What can we do?

Looking at the sun and the stars is a good way to find a direction. This method (方法) works when the sky is clear. But what can we do on a cloudy day?
We can use a compass (指南针) in any weather. As you know, a compass shows north, south, east, and west. However, using a compass is not so easy. First, we need to know where north is on the map. Then, we can set the compass.
These days, we use GPS (全球定位系统) to find our way. Now, maps for the whole world are on computers. We can read these maps on computers in our cars, in homes and even on phones. GPS is very easy to use. But what can we do if the computer has a problem? Well, we can always go back to using the sun and the stars!

A.On May 3, 2024. B.After flying for about 37 minutes.
