I first began experiencing anxiety and depression at the age of 14 after being bullied at school for years. While at first anxiety and depression would come and go, it eventually became a constant part of my life.
I was so eager to find the solution to overcoming my anxiety and depression that I tried everything from when I was in college to graduate school: mood-changing medication, special teas, yoga, anything I read about in books, and advice given by doctors. Despite this, I still felt I hadn’t even come close to managing the problem.
But one afternoon, my eyes fell upon an article in a magazine I was reading that talked about how dogs were able to help people with anxiety and depression. The very next day, I decided to get a dog — a corgi. When I brought my little corgi, Buddy, home, I didn’t realize how much he would change my life. It didn’t happen right away, however.
Once the “puppy excitement” went away, my anxiety and depression came back as usual. One morning, I woke up with those familiar feelings again. I didn’t want to get out of bed. I turned to pull the covers back over my head and gave up. That was when I saw Buddy.
Buddy started jumping all over me, licking my face, letting me know that it was time to go outside. It was as if he were saying, “There’s no time to be sad; the world is amazing!”
And for the first time in my life on a day when my anxiety and depression were strong, I got out of bed. I put on my winter clothes and went for a walk in the snow with my new friend. I realized at that moment, walking down the street in winter, my life was changing. I really was a new girl.
Sure, I still have days when I feel down or anxious. But with Buddy by my side, I’ve finally learned how to manage these feelings and emotions.
4. According to the first two paragraphs, the author__.

B. tried many ways to fight depression but nothing worked.

B. A doctor recommended it to her.
C. She read it in an article by chance.
D. She found out herself after spending some time with a corgi.
6. How does the author feel in the last paragraph?
A. Doubtful. B. Anxious. C. Confused. D. Optimistic.
7. What is the best title for the passage?
A. Defeating depression with Buddy. B. Keeping a dog benefits us a lot.
C. Getting rid of anxiety. D. Puppy excitement.

Color may influence the way food tastes for picky (挑剔的) eaters, according to a new study published in the journal Food Quality and Preference.
Stafford’s research team did an experiment with about 50 participants, who were mostly young adults around 20 years old. The study divided the individuals into picky and non-picky eaters, based on their responses to a certain measure. Both groups then tasted the same snacks served in red, white and blue bowls.
The results showed the color of the bowls influenced how the picky group perceived (感知) the saltiness and desirability of the foods — but did not influence the non-picky group. The picky group thought that the snack served in the red bowl was least desirable and the snack was higher in saltiness in the red and blue bowl — compared with the white bowl.
“Picky eating usually starts in childhood,” Dr. Lama Bazzi said. She explained that if picky eating is not solved properly as a child, it can be developed later into certain eating disorders.
All of this is because of a sense of control and a sense of safety. So when talking about the colors of the bowls in the research study, it probably has to do with what makes that person feel safe, such as what colors are connected with safety. The colors blue, green and purple are considered “safer” colors, while the color red is usually connected with “stop”.
Supermarkets use similar psychology to catch people’s attention. Children’s cups are colorfully designed to entice kids, giving them a sense of safety and making it fun for them to drink something. When advertisers want customers to buy chips or food, the packaging (包装) tends to use warm and inviting colors that remind people of their childhood. Stafford noted that the research is primary, yet the data may help picky eaters to eat various food.
8. What do we know about the experiment?
A The participants were all young adults.
B. Different snacks were served in different colors of bowls.
C. Colors of the bowl didn’t influence the non-picky group.
D. The picky group thought the snacks in the white bowl saltier.
9. If a picky girl wants to lose weight, what kind of bowl will she use to serve food?
A. Blue bowl. B. Red bowl. C. Green bowl. D. Purple bowl.
10. What does the underlined word “entice” in Paragraph 6 mean?
A. Attract. B. Force. C. Admit. D. Warn.
11. Why do advertisers use warm and inviting colors for packaging?
A. To remind people of their childhood.
B. To give people a sense of safety.
C. To solve people’s eating disorders.
D. To attract people to buy goods.
D
French company Airseas has promised to help cargo (货物) ships reduce their fuel consumption, and cut their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by an average of 20%. And they’re doing this with the Seawing — a 1,000-square-meter kite that will fly 300 meters (about 984 feet) above the water’s surface. So the global shipping industry is apparently rediscovering the joy and efficiency of sails.
The large, ship-sized kite is currently being developed, and the company plans to start a factory to produce the Seawing in 2026. Once manufactured, Airseas has promised that launching and operating the Seawing on a cargo ship will be automated, making it easy to use for the crew. The kite and the equipment that launches it are fixed on a boat’s deck, and the crew can simply press some buttons and a large kite will rise into the sky. That’s not to say that the cargo ships won’t use their engines at all, but the kite will take some pressure off of those engines and will reduce the need for fuel. The wind will move the ship, just like it did for hundreds of years in the old days before industrialization.
Lowering emissions by 20% may not seem like a big deal, but moving vast amounts of goods back and forth on the high seas creates 3% of the world’s GHG emissions. That’s more than the airline industry, which produced about 2% of the world’s emissions in 2021, according to the International Energy Agency. Shipping is also a massive industry, and one worth focusing on for lowering emissions. About 90% of the world’s traded goods are moved around via ships, according to the International Chamber of Shipping.
Some companies are expecting this new version of sails. Japanese shipping company, “K” Line, has placed orders for the Seawing kite, and the European Union has also invested more than $2 million in funding.
12. What is French company Airseas trying to do?
A. Produce big kites to seize the market. B. Make sea exploration easy and joyful.
C. Participate in kite-flying competitions. D. Ship cargoes with low fuel consumption.
13. What can we know about the Seawing?
A. It will completely replace engines. B. It will be much larger than a ship.
C. It will be easily operated by the crew. D. It will follow the cargo ship at sea.
14. What does the author want to convey by listing the figures in paragraph 3?
A. Airline industry should give way to shipping industry.
B. It is hard to cut the GHG emissions in shipping industry.
C. Lowering fuel consumption in shipping deserves our efforts.
D. Shipping industry produces most of the world’s GHG emissions.
15. Which is the best title for the text?
A. Shipping industry is getting popular again B. The GHG emissions are being greatly reduced
C. Seawing factories are to be opened in Europe D. Kites on boat will help cut GHG emissions

第二节(满分25分)
47. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
I love parties. I love planning for them, making the invitations, planning the games and decorating my own cake. The only thing that I don't like is deciding on the guest list. When 1 was in grade school my mom would tell me the maximum number of friends that I could invite and it was always a number too small for my list.
I also liked all different kinds of people. I never quite fit into one of the many little groups at my school, so I just kind of floated around, accumulating friends from various backgrounds. There was an “in" crowd made up of the cool kids who had the power to rule the school-if a cool kid wore two different colored socks to school one day, everyone thought it was great. But if an uncool kid did the same thing, the other kids would turn away in disgust (厌恶).It made getting dressed in the morning a very scary thing.
Shannon was one of my friends who seemed to unknowingly break the rules of uncoolness" all the time. I don't know why she was targeted, but people found it acceptable to make fun of her. Shannon was a nice girl and wore pretty clothes, but was somewhat overweight and didn't talk much. She was picked on a lot. Whenever there was an strange noise or smell in the classroom the kids would giggle (咯咯笑)and point at her. Shannon never said anything, but it made me feel sick inside. Shannon was innocent, I thought.
One year, to celebrate my birthday, my mom told me I could have a party at our house. I struggled for days deciding on which girls to invite. Once I had chosen all the names, I made the invitations and handed them out to my friends at school.
“Why did you invite her?” asked one of my cool friends when it was discovered that I had invited Shannon. She pressured me to tell her not to come. There were other people I could add in her place who would be more acceptable.
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Paragraph 1 :
Unsure what to do, I was put in a, difficult situation.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Paragraph 2 :
Weeks later, Shannon suddenly called to thank me for inviting her to the party.

I first began experiencing anxiety and depression at the age of 14, after being bullied at school for years.
And for the first time in my life, on a day when my anxiety and depression were strong, I got out of bed.

A. She heard it from some other depression sufferers.

“Picky eating usually starts in childhood” Dr.
A. The participants were all young adults.
B To give people a sense of safety.
C. To solve people’s eating disorders.
D. To attract people to buy goods.
【答案】8. C 9. B 10. A 11.

【答案】12. D 13. C 14. C 15. D

【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章介绍了法国公司Airseas正在研发一种叫Seawing的大型风筝,以便帮助海上的大型货船减少燃料消耗,从而降低温室气体排放。
【12题详解】
细节理解题。根据第一段中“French company Airseas has promised to help cargo (货物) ships reduce their fuel consumption, and cut their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by an average of 20%. And they’re doing this with the Seawing — a 1,000-square-meter kite that will fly 300 meters (about 984 feet) above the water’s surface.

根据第三段中“Lowering emissions by 20% may not seem like a big deal, but moving vast amounts of goods back and forth on the high seas creates 3% of the world’s GHG emissions. That’s more than the airline industry, which produced about 2% of the world’s emissions in 2021 (减少20%的排放量似乎不是什么大事,但在公海上来回运输大量货物产生的温室气体排放量占世界温室气体排放量的3%。这比航空业还要多,航空业在2021年的排放量约占全球的2%)”和“About 90% of the world’s traded goods are moved around via ships (世界上大约90%的贸易货物是通过船舶运输的)”可知,海运排放的温室气体量比航空业排放的还多,而且世界上绝大部分贸易货物依赖船舶运输,因此很有必要减少海运排放的温室气体量。由此可知,作者列出这些数字是为了表明降低船运燃油消耗值得我们的努力。故选C项。
【15题详解】
主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第一段中“French company Airseas has promised to help cargo (货物) ships reduce their fuel consumption, and cut their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by an average of 20%. Li Hua
【答案】Dear editor,
With the acceleration of urbanization, city waste problem is getting worse. Rubbish must be treated properly, otherwise it causes trouble. It pollutes the environment and is harmful to our health. If we breathe the polluted air or drink the polluted water, we may get ill. Therefore, I am writing to you to voice my opinions.
In my opinion, it is about time that we dealt with the rubbish in cities. Rubbish must be sorted. Some, such as newspapers and glass, can be recycled. The rest, which is believed to be harmful, should be sent to a certain place and buried. Laws have been passed to protect the environment, so waste water should be treated before it is poured into rivers.
We’re been trying, but there is still a long way to go. We should do our best to fight against city rubbish.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua

Paragraph 2 :

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】Paragraph 1:
Unsure what to do, I was put in a difficult situation. I liked Shannon, yet I was afraid that I would become the target of the children’s ridicule if I insisted on inviting Shannon to my party. I knew the right thing to do, but I struggled with the fear of having to live with my decision. Finally, my consciousness took over. I decided not to say anything to Shannon and let the invitations stay as written, despite the fact that I was worried about what would happen. Luckily, the party worked out well, with all of us having fun together.
Paragraph 2:
Weeks later, Shannon suddenly called to thank me for inviting her to the party. She said my invitation brightened her days. Shannon cherished the memory of that birthday party. It was important to her that I had welcomed her into the fun, and it was a day when she felt accepted and part of a group. She talked about the games we played and the cake we ate, remembering all the details. For me, it was just a simple party. But for Shannon, it was a signal of acceptance.
