State the change of people’s attitudes towards sharks 教学难点： 1. Use words and expressions related to the protection of sharks. 2. Realize the importance of protecting sharks. 教学过程 1. Class design 2. Lead-in The teacher shows students a picture which is full of different languages with the similar meaning : protect the earth. The teacher asks students to find ou what are shown in the picture. 3. Video-watching Play the video 《Save Life on Earth》and students are supposed to find out the alarming facts shown in the video. Note-taking skills. Teacher teaches student how to take notes quickly while watching video. Critical thinking: What caused the alarming facts. Students are able to know the chain: alarming facts results from human activities. Human activities are affected by knowledge, attitude, experience and so on. 4. Games: Description and Guess The teacher invites students to take part in an activity called “Description and Guess”, where one student is shown a picture, and the student describes what he sees so that the other student can guess the content of the picture. Teacher leads students to think about the words they use to describe sharks, leading to the article: sharks dangerous or endangered. 5. Text analysis Teacher encourages students to figure out how the author thinks of the situation of sharks, and leads students to find the reasons. Teacher encourages students to find out the change in people’s attitudes towards sharks. (1) Teacher leads students to know peter Benchley’s attitudes towards sharks and figure out the reasons. People’s experience and knowledge affect one’s attitude and behavior. (2) Reading for main idea. Teacher lead students to find out the main idea of the passage. Then teacher give detailed explanation. (3) Teachers encourage students to form the structure of the passage.Meanwhile, students can understand the purpose of each part. 6. Thinking Sharks are strong and they are apex predators. Why should we protect them? The teacher help students realize the important role that sharks play in the ecological chain, helping students realize the importance of the protection of sharks. 7. Self-assessment Students evaluate their performance and check whether they achieve the learning goals. 8.
