(23-24九年级上·江苏镇江·期末)Recently, the four major dictionaries — Collins, Cambridge, Webster’s, and Oxford — have announced their words of the year 2023.
Collins Dictionary—AIAI is short for artificial intelligence (人工智能). It has developed quickly and was much talked about in 2023. In the near future, AI will become a usual technology like the Internet and e-mail, which influences people’s daily lives a lot.
Cambridge Dictionary—HallucinateThe original (起初的) meaning of “hallucinate” is “to seem to see, hear, feel, or smell something that doesn’t exist (存在), usually because you are ill”. It now has a new meaning. When an AI “hallucinates”, it produces false information. The word was chosen because its new meaning tells us why people are discussing AI. It is a powerful tool, but we still need to learn how to use it safely.
Webster’s Dictionary—AuthenticIn an age of deepfakes (深度伪造), as AI rises, the Webster’s word of the year 2023 is “authentic”. If something is authentic, it is real. In the Internet age, truth has become an important quality, it needs to be taken good care of.
Oxford Dictionary—RizzOxford Dictionary is different from the other three. It chose “rizz” as the word of the year. What is rizz? For example if someone has rizz. they have charm and they are always the center of attention. It is popular with more and more young people.

(23-24九年级上·江苏泰州·期末)Guangfulin Relics Park (广富林遗址公园) is about four kilometers away from Sheshan Hill. It’s a window into the history of Shanghai.
In 1958, while digging a new waterway, some local farmers found several pieces of ancient pottery (陶器). In 1961, archaeologists (考古学家) began a serious study there. They discovered a large number of pottery items, spinning wheels, dishes and knives. They also discovered two tombs (坟墓). These discoveries proved that there is a 4,000-year-old culture here. The relics park was built right on this historical place.
The park includes a farmland protection area, a cultural area and a Chinese-style water town. Rice, corn, sunflowers, pears and peaches are grown in the farmland protection area. The water town provides a perfect place for tourists to stay the night and have a rest.
The cultural area is the most important part of the park. It is made up of ten museums and memorial halls. The most popular one is the Guangfulin Cultural Museum. It’s built underwater with its roofs (屋顶) on the surface.
You can find many shops, cafes and teahouses in the park. Visitors can find a quiet place with books and tea at the Duoyun Bookstore, for example. Events like lantern shows and archaeological speeches are held in the park throughout the year.
