Teach new words (1) Play football Show a picture of boys playing football on the playground. T: Look at this picture. What are they doing? (Do the action of kicking a football) They are playing football. Play football. (Repeat several times) Ask students to read after the teacher and do the action together. (2) Play basketball Show a video of people playing basketball. T: What are they doing in this video? (Demonstrate the action of shooting a basketball) They are playing basketball. Play basketball. Let students repeat and practice the action. (3) Draw pictures Take out a brush and a piece of paper, and start to draw a simple flower. T: Look, what am I doing? I'm drawing a picture. Draw pictures. Ask students to say the word and try to draw a simple shape like a circle or a square on their papers. (4) Read books Show a picture of a girl reading a book. T: What is she doing? She is reading a book. Read books. Ask students to pick up their English books and pretend to read, repeating the words. (5) Sing songs Play a short clip of children singing a song. T: Listen, what are they doing? They are singing songs. Sing songs. Let students sing a simple English song they know like "ABC song" while repeating the phrase. 2. Practice new words (1) Word - card game Show the word cards one by one quickly. Let students read the words as fast as they can. (2) Guessing game Do the actions of the above activities secretly behind the desk, and let students guess what activity it is. For example, if the teacher is doing the action of kicking a football, students should say "play football". (三)Practice 1. Listen and repeat Play the recording of the dialogue in the textbook: A: What do you do after school? B: I play football. Ask students to listen carefully and repeat after the recording for several times. 2. Pair work Let students work in pairs. One student asks the question "What do you do after school?" and the other student answers using the words they have just learned, like "I draw pictures" or "I read books". Walk around the classroom and help students if they have any problems. 3. Group work Divide the students into groups of four. Each group makes a short dialogue using the sentence pattern and the new words. For example: A: What do you do after school? B: I sing songs. What about you? C: I play basketball. D: I read books. Then ask each group to perform their dialogues in front of the class. (四)Production 1. Role - play Create a situation of an after - school activity club. Some students can be the club leaders who ask the new students (played by other students) what they like to do after school. Club leader: Wee to our after - school activity club. What do you do after school? New student: I play football. I like football very much. Club leader: Great! You can join our football team. Let students practice this role - play in groups and then choose some groups to perform in front of the whole class. 2. Make a survey Give each student a piece of paper with the title "After - school Activities Survey". Let them walk around the classroom and ask at least three classmates "What do you do after school?" and write down their answers. After that, ask some students to report their survey results, like "Tom plays basketball after school. Lily reads books." (五)Summary 1. Review the new words T: Let's review the new words we learned today. What are they? Show the pictures or do the actions related to the words, and let students say the words. 2.
