My parents told me when I was old enough and 1 , I could have one. One day I hopped off the bus, not knowing what awaited me inside. I walked through the door, and to my 2 , a white and black puppy greeted me with many puppy kisses. A very special friendship was born that day. She was a smart dog. We 3 play for hours, spending our days learning and growing together. Eleven years we were together, best of friends. Unfortunately, arthritis (关节炎) and old age set in on her. My parents knew what had to be done, but they let me find and make the decision myself. She was 4 so much and the medicine didn’t seem to help anymore. She could 5 walk. I looked into those deep brown eyes and 6 it was time to let her go. I carried her into the vet’s (兽医诊所) and placed her on the table. She leaned her head forward and gave a lick to my hand as if to say, “I understand. Stay 7 .” Her tail was wagging (摆动) in a circle as always. In a matter of seconds, it 8 . The vet listened for a heartbeat, and said, “It’s over.” I took her home and buried her in the pasture, where she loved playing and chasing rabbits. The tour will conclude with a shared kai, traditionally-inspired food tasting.(参加毛利人体验基纳基之旅(Maori Experience Kinaki Tour),探索这片土地上的第一批人民如何创造自然世界提供的独特食物。 根据·Plan an education visit中第一段“ If you are an educator, choose from our range of education programmes. All with just his right arm. It looks almost effortless when he plays. However, it’s not. It never has been. Enmanuel was 6 when he was climbing a wall. It fell over him, bricks and blocks on his left arm. He was rushed to the hospital, but the doctor couldn’t save his arm and it was cut off several inches below the shoulder. It was a dark time for Enmanuel and his family. Slowly, things got better for the little boy. He still remembers the first time he tied his shoes. Just 7, Enmanuel was waiting for his mother to do it for him, but she was busy cooking. “I was like, never mind, I’m going to start,” he said in a recent interview. “I told myself let me try. I was trying. Then I made it.” “So I was excited, excited like crazy,” he added. Small things became huge victories. Months after that, Enmanuel tried basketball, too. But it’s not an easy path. His missing arm left him lacking balance. Every time he tried to run, he’d crash to the ground, falling on debris (碎片) covered across the courts he played on. These falls left him with numerous scars (疤痕). In the interview, Enmanuel pointed to the scar after scar down the length of the leg, reminders of a hard time that has brought him to excellence in basketball skills. Enmanuel first dunked at 14, and it wasn’t long before his popularity grew with the views on his videos. But it wasn’t the highlight videos that interested his coach, Corey Gipson. He liked Enmanuel’s attitude and the way he carried himself on the court. “Hansel is a very tough person,” Gipson said. “When you see him on the floor, you just see an unstoppable force that doesn’t take anything for granted (理所应当).” “I’m not special,” Enmanuel said. “I’m not different than nobody. The only difference is that I’ve got one arm, but that’s not different.” 24.What first encouraged Enmanuel to recover from the accident? A.The help from his doctor. B.Managing to tie his shoes. C.Videos on his shots and dunking. D.The attention from his mother. 25.Enmanuel pointed to scars on his leg mainly to show his ______. A.success B.health C.efforts D.competence 26.What interested Enmanuel’s coach most? A.His response to difficulties. B.His great sense of balance. C.His confidence on the court. D.His popularity on social media. 27.What does the story intend to tell us? A.He who laughs last laughs best. B.Don’t judge a book by its cover. C.Nothing is impossible to a willing heart. D.You can make a difference by being different. 根据第三段中“He still remembers the first time he tied his shoes. Just 7, Enmanuel was waiting for his mother to do it for him, but she was busy cooking. “I was like, never mind, I’m going to start,” he said in a recent interview. “I told myself let me try. I was trying. Then I made it.” “So I was excited, excited like crazy,” he added.(他还记得第一次系鞋带的情景。伊曼纽尔才 7 岁,正在等他的母亲为他做饭,但她正忙着做饭。“我当时想,没关系,我要开始了,”他在最近的一次采访中说道。“我告诉自己让我尝试一下。我正在尝试。然后我就成功了。”“所以我很兴奋,兴奋得发疯,”他补充道)”可知,Enmanuel第一次设法系好了鞋带,这是第一次促使他从事故中恢复过来,故选B。 25.推理判断题。根据倒数第二段中“Every time he tried to run, he’d crash to the ground, falling on debris (碎片) covered across the courts he played on. These falls left him with numerous scars (疤痕). In the interview, Enmanuel pointed to the scar after scar down the length of the leg, reminders of a hard time that has brought him to excellence in basketball skills.(每次他试图跑起来时,他都会摔倒在地,落在他所打球的球场上覆盖的碎片上。这些跌倒给他留下了无数疤痕。在采访中,恩曼纽尔指着腿上一道又一道的伤疤,让人想起正是这段艰难的时光让他取得了卓越的篮球技术。)”可知,Enmanuel尝试打篮球时很努力,一次次摔倒给他留下了很多疤痕。由此推知,Enmanuel指着自己腿上的伤疤主要是为了表明他为打篮球所付出的努力。故选C。 26.推理判断题。根据最后一段中“But it wasn’t the highlight videos that interested his coach, Corey Gipson. He liked Enmanuel’s attitude and the way he carried himself on the court. “Hansel is a very tough person,” Gipson said. “When you see him on the floor, you just see an unstoppable force that doesn’t take anything for granted (理所应当).”(但令他的教练科里·吉普森感兴趣的并不是精彩视频。他喜欢恩曼纽尔的态度和他在球场上的表现。“汉塞尔是一个非常坚强的人,”吉普森说。“当你看到他在场上时,你就会看到一种不可阻挡的力量,不会认为任何事情都是理所当然的。”)”可知,教练喜欢Enmanuel的态度和在球场上的表现,即他很坚强,有一种不可阻挡的力量来战胜困难。由此推知,令教练对Enmanuel感兴趣的是他应对困难的反应。故选A。 27. 通读全文,尤其是第一段“Hansel Enmanuel, a 19-year-old basketball player, has drawn attention after videos spread quickly showing his awesome skills, like making 3-point shots and dunking (灌篮) with ease. All with just his right arm. It looks almost effortless when he plays. However, it’s not. It never has been.(9岁的篮球运动员汉塞尔·恩曼纽尔(Hansel Enmanuel)在视频迅速传播后引起了人们的关注,他展示了他出色的三分球投篮和轻松灌篮的技术。全部只用他的右臂。当他演奏时,看起来几乎毫不费力。然而,事实并非如此。而且从来不是这么轻松)”和倒数第二段中“But it’s not an easy path. His missing arm left him lacking balance. Every time he tried to run, he’d crash to the ground, falling on debris (碎片) covered across the courts he played on. These falls left him with numerous scars (疤痕). In the interview, Enmanuel pointed to the scar after scar down the length of the leg, reminders of a hard time that has brought him to excellence in basketball skills.(但这并不是一条容易的路。 C。                                                            C               Enjoy the challenge of a new term The new term is finally here, which means, of course, it’s time to return to school. For many students across China, that also means having to leave home for the next several months and move into a school dormitory. Being away from our family for a long time, however, often leads to homesickness, a feeling that most students have experienced at some point. A study by the UK’s National Union of Students found that up to 70 percent of UK students living away from home experience homesickness within their first few weeks of being away. But homesickness isn’t just a feeling of sadness that happens in our mind; it can also affect us physically. “You feel homesickness in your stomach—it’s an unease in which you feel uncomfortable, nervous, stressed because you’re in a place or situation that’s not familiar,” Joshua Klapow, a professor of public heath at the University of Alabama, us, told HuffPost. According to Klapow, the body reacts physically when it’s placed in an unknown situation such as being separated from one’s familiar surroundings for a long time. “It’s an evolutionary (进化的) thing that makes us protect ourselves from danger when something is unknown,” he told the HuffPost. “When we think about home, we know that the sense of unknown … is not happening there, so we want to return.” So, how can we overcome these physical reactions? Ruth Hardy of the Guardian offered advice for students who are feeling the effects of being away from the safety of home. “Try and establish routines (常规) quickly. This can make your new environment feel more stable and will hopefully make you feel more settled,” she wrote. Making friends with others who are in your situation is also a great way to feel less homesick, according to Hardy. The most important thing to remember, however, is that homesickness is completely normal and is nothing to be ashamed of. And once it’s gone, you’re free to enjoy the adventures and challenges of a brand new school year. 28.The study by the UK’s National Union of Students is mentioned to ________. A.show how homesickness causes harm to students B.prove it’s common for students to feel homesick C.introduce some causes of homesickness D.show how all young people are troubled by homesickness 29.What can we learn about homesickness? A.It’s only a feeling in our mind. B.It usually disappears after a few weeks. C.It has a physical influence on our body. D.It always happens once we visit an unfamiliar place. 30.How does Hardy suggest people deal with homesickness? A.Take part in as many activities as possible. B.Talk about your problems with your friends. C.Get into a routine as early as possible. D.Avoid seeing things related to your home life. 根据第四段“A study by the UK’s National Union of Students found that up to 70 percent of UK students living away from home experience homesickness within their first few weeks of being away.(英国全国学生联合会(National Union of Students)的一项研究发现,高达70%的离家在外的英国学生在离家的前几周会想家。)” 根据第五段“But homesickness isn’t just a feeling of sadness that happens in our mind; it can also affect us physically.(但是想家不仅仅是一种发生在我们脑海中的悲伤的感觉;它还会影响我们的身体。)” This can make your new environment feel more stable and will hopefully make you feel more settled(试着快速建立日常常规。这会让你的新环境感觉更稳定,也有希望让你感觉更安定)”可知,Hardy建议人们尽早建立日常常规来应对思乡之情。故选C。 D In the story A Christmas Carol, the wealthy miser (吝啬鬼) Ebenezer Scrooge has a magical, life-changing epiphany (顿悟). Scrooge’s eyes are opened as to how his behavior affects other people — and he goes from a selfish grump to a generous benefactor overnight, thanks to visits from ghosts. Scrooge’s transformation comes down to knowledge. But do people really want to know how their actions affect others? As behavioral scientists, we wanted to understand just how common willful ignorance is — as well as why people engage in it. Experiments were carried out to find answers. Researchers asked one member of each pair to choose between two options (选择) in one of two settings, determining the earnings for themselves and their partner. In the transparent setting, if they chose $5 for themselves, they knew their partner would also receive $5. If, however, they chose $6 for themselves, they knew their partner would receive only $1 in return. In the ambiguous setting, there were two possible situations. In one, if the decision-maker selected $6 for themselves, their partner would receive $1, and if the decision-maker chose $5, their partner would receive $5. But in the other situation, the decision-maker could pick $6 and their partner would receive $5, or the decision-maker could select $5 and their partner would receive $1. The decision-maker knew these two systems — but they were not initially aware of which situation they were in. Interestingly, the decision-maker had the opportunity to resolve that ambiguity by clicking a button. Across all studies, we found in the transparent setting 55% chose the altruistic option. In the ambiguous setting, however, 40% of participants chose to remain ignorant. 60% of people in the ignorant group chose a higher personal payout in situations where this choice came at the expense of their partner. Among those who requested more information, 36% knowingly kept a higher payout at a cost to their partner. Only 39% of people in the ambiguous setting made the choice that ultimately benefited their partner — a significant drop from 55% in the transparent condition. But how do we know if ignorance in the ambiguous setting was willful? We conducted a second analysis focused on what motivates people to seek information. In this analysis we looked at how people who obtained additional information behaved in comparison with those who were given information. We found that people who chose to receive information in the ambiguous setting were seven percentage points more likely to make the altruistic choice than people in the transparent setting. By the same token, the finding also suggests ignorance prevents people from knowing how their actions harm others. If we can avoid putting a strong moral emphasis on decisions, it may make people feel less threatened and, as a result, less willfully ignorant. We may not have Dickensian ghosts to guide us — but there are still steps we can take. 31.The author mentions Scrooge’s change mainly to ______. A.draw a comparison B.introduce a topic C.evaluate a character D.give an example 32.If the decision-maker chose to click the button in the ambiguous setting, they would ______. A.drop out of the experiment B.know the situation they are in C.receive the additional earnings D.switch to the other situation they prefer 33.What does the underlined word “altruistic” in Paragraph 6 most probably mean? A.Inadvisable. B.Selfless. C.Fair-minded. D.Unrealistic. 34.What can we learn from the passage? A.The ignorant group tend to sacrifice their own interest. B.Moral evaluation might lead to more intentional ignorance. C.There is no common payout system shared by both settings. D.Avoiding information might make people feel like bad persons. 根据第二段“Scrooge’s transformation comes down to knowledge. But do people really want to know how their actions affect others? As behavioral scientists, we wanted to understand just how common willful ignorance is—as well as why people engage in it.(斯克鲁奇的转变归结于知识。但人们真的想知道他们的行为如何影响他人吗?作为行为科学家,我们想要了解故意使自己不知道的情况有多普遍,以及人们为何会这样做。)”可推知,作者提到斯克鲁奇的改变主要是为了引出文章话题——科学家想知道故意让自己不知道的情况有多普遍,以及人们为何会这样做,故选B。 32.细节理解题。根据第四段中“In the ambiguous setting, there were two possible situations...The decision-maker knew these two systems—but they were not initially aware of which situation they were in. Interestingly, the decision-maker had the opportunity to resolve that ambiguity by clicking a button.(在模棱两可的环境中,有两种可能的情况……决策者知道这两个系统,但他们最初并不知道自己处于哪种情况。有趣的是,决策者有机会通过单击按钮来解决这种模棱两可的情况。)”可知,如果决策者选择在不明确的设置中单击按钮,他们会了解他们所处的情况,故选B。 33.词句猜测题。根据划线单词下文“Only 39% of people in the ambiguous setting made the choice that ultimately benefited their partner—a significant drop from 55% in the transparent condition.(在模棱两可的环境中,只有39%的人做出了最终有利于伴侣的选择——与公开环境下的55%相比,这一比例显着下降。)” 根据最后一段中“If we can avoid putting a strong moral emphasis on decisions, it may make people feel less threatened and, as a result, less willfully ignorant. (如果我们能够避免在决策中过分强调道德,可能会减少人们的威胁感,从而减少故意无知的情况。)”可推知,道德评价可能会导致更多的故意无知。故选B。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,共10分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的七个选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有项为多余选项。 What Is a Boy? Between the innocence of babyhood and the seriousness of manhood we find a delightful creature called an “boy”. 35 . They all believe that the pleasure of life is to enjoy every second of every minute of every hour of every day and to fill the air with noise until the adult males pack them off to bed at night. 36 When you want him to make a good impression, his brain turns to jelly, or else he becomes a wild creature bent on destroying the world and himself with it. 37 He has the stomach of a horse, the digestion of stones and sand, the energy of an atomic bomb, the curiosity of a cat, the imagination of a superman, the shyness of a sweet girl, the brave nature of a bull, the violence of a firecracker, but when you ask him to make something, he has five thumbs (拇指) on each hand. He likes ice cream, knives, saws, Christmas, comic books, woods, water (in its natural habitat). 38 He is not much for Sunday schools, company, schools, books without pictures, music lessons, neckties, barbers, girls, overcoats, adults, or bedtime. 39 Nobody else gets so much fun out of trees, dogs and breezes. Nobody else can put into one pocket a rusty knife, a half eaten apple, a three-feet rope, six cents and some unknown things. A boy is a magical creature — he is your headache but when you come home at night with only shattered pieces of your hopes and dreams, he can mend them like new with two magic words, “Hi, Dad!” A.In fact a boy is a mixture. B.Nobody else is so early to rise, or so late to supper. C.When you are busy, a boy is a trouble-maker and a noise. D.Girls are more active and intelligent than boys sometimes. E.Boys will feel it uncomfortable if they are controlled too strictly. F.Boys came in different sizes, weights, and colors, but all boys have the same belief. G.He also has a preference for large animals, Dad, trains, Saturday mornings, and fire engines. 35.根据前文“Between the innocence of babyhood and the seriousness of manhood we find a delightful creature called an “boy”.(在婴儿时期的天真和成年时期的严肃之间,我们发现了一种叫“男孩”的令人愉快的生物。)”和后文“They all believe that the pleasure of life is to enjoy every second of every minute of every hour of every day and to fill the air with noise until the adult males pack them off to bed at night.(他们都相信,生活的乐趣在于享受每一天的每一分每一秒,让空气中充满噪音,直到成年雄性把他们打包上床睡觉。)” 36.根据后文“When you want him to make a good impression, his brain turns to jelly, or else he becomes a wild creature bent on destroying the world and himself with it.(当你想让他给人留下好印象时,他的大脑就会变成果冻,否则他就会变成一个决心摧毁世界和自己的野兽。)” 37.根据后文“He has the stomach of a horse, the digestion of stones and sand, the energy of an atomic bomb, the curiosity of a cat, the imagination of a superman, the shyness of a sweet girl, the brave nature of a bull, the violence of a firecracker, but when you ask him to make something, he has five thumbs (拇指) on each hand.(他有马的胃,对石头和沙子的消化能力,原子弹的能量,猫的好奇心,超人的想象力,可爱女孩的羞怯,公牛的勇敢天性,鞭炮的暴力,但当你让他做点什么时,他每只手都有五个拇指。)” 故选A。 38.根据前文“He likes ice cream, knives, saws, Christmas, comic books, woods, water (in its natural habitat).(他喜欢冰淇淋、刀、锯、圣诞节、漫画书、树林、水(在它的自然栖息地)。)” 39.根据后文“Nobody else gets so much fun out of trees, dogs and breezes. Nobody else can put into one pocket a rusty knife, a half eaten apple, a three-feet rope, six cents and some unknown things.(没有人能从树、狗和微风中获得如此多的乐趣。 Catherine was the coolest kid in her class. Whenever she went, she was in the spotight, with a bunch of kids following her and doing everything she did. Her deskmate, Landy, however, was not in the cool kids' group. Being the tallest kid in the class, she was teased (嘲笑) by her classmates, who were always chanting “Landy, Landy, long as spagheti (意大利面)”. Every time Landy heard those silly chants, she could feel her face burst into flames. How she wished the ground to crack and swallow her! Catherine didn’t really like it when the kids chanted “Landy, Landy, long as spaghetti”. But she never told them to stop either, and nor did she ever talk to Landy. She liked being popular. One weekend, Catherine went over to her grandfather. Her grandfather lives on a farm at the opposite end of town, where he keeps chickens. While helping to feed the chickens, Catherine noticed a special one. Curling in the corner, it looked smaller than the others and was almost half-bare!(半秃) “What’s the matter with it?” She asked her grandfather, with a puzzled frown on her face. Her grandfather told her how chickens could act. “They have a pecking ( 啄 ) order. ” he explained, “If one chicken is different, the others will push it away and keep pecking it. Sometimes they peck it so much that it dies.” “Oh, what a poor little thing!” Catherine let out a sigh as she scooped (捧起) the frightened chicken up in her arms. Suddenly, she thought of Landy! She was just like the poor little chicken, being teased and ignored by her classmates, merely due to her special height. Catherine decided to make an apology to Landy with the kids following her the next Monday. 40.What happened to Landy? 41.Why did Catherine do nothing when other kids chanted? 42.Please decide which part is false in the following statement, then underline it and explain why. > After seeing the half-bare chicken, Catherine decided to help Landy overcome the difficulties. 43.To help the kids like Landy, what suggestions would you make?(In about 40 words) 【答案】40.She was teased by her classmates. 41.Because she liked being popular. 42.After seeing the half-bare chicken, Catherine decided to help Landy overcome the difficulties. After seeing the half-bare chicken, Catherine decided to make an apology to Landy with the kids following her the next Monday. 43.Teach children not to make fun of others and make Landy understand that sometimes shortcomings can turn into advantages, such as playing basketball, and she will be welcomed. 根据第一段“Her deskmate, Landy, however, was not in the cool kids' group. Being the tallest kid in the class, she was teased (嘲笑) by her classmates, who were always chanting “Landy, Landy, long as spagheti (意大利面)”.(然而,她的同桌兰迪却不属于“酷孩子”组。作为班上最高的孩子,她总是被同学们取笑,他们总是高呼“兰迪,兰迪,像意大利面一样长”。)”可知,Landy总是被同学们取笑。故回答:She was teased by her classmates. 41. 根据第三段“Catherine didn’t really like it when the kids chanted “Landy, Landy, long as spaghetti”. But she never told them to stop either, and nor did she ever talk to Landy. She liked being popular.(凯瑟琳真的不喜欢孩子们高呼“兰迪,兰迪,像意大利面一样长”。但她也从来没有让他们停下来,她也从来没有和兰迪说过话。她喜欢受欢迎)”可知,因为凯瑟琳喜欢受欢迎,所以她什么都不做。故回答:Because she liked being popular. 42. 根据倒数第二段““Oh, what a poor little thing!” Catherine let out a sigh as she scooped (捧起) the frightened chicken up in her arms. Suddenly, she thought of Landy! She was just like the poor little chicken, being teased and ignored by her classmates, merely due to her special height.(“啊,多可怜的小东西啊!” After seeing the half-bare chicken, Catherine decided to help Landy overcome the difficulties. After seeing the half-bare chicken, Catherine decided to make an apology to Landy with the kids following her the next Monday. 43. Teach children not to make fun of others and make Landy understand that sometimes shortcomings can turn into advantages, such as playing basketball, and she will be welcomed. 提示词:形象、外貌look Dear Jim, __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Yours, Li Hua 【答案】Dear Jim,      I’ m sorry to hear that you are upset about your image. C               Enjoy the challenge of a new term The new term is finally here, which means, of course, it’s time to return to school. D In the story A Christmas Carol, the wealthy miser (吝啬鬼) Ebenezer Scrooge has a magical, life-changing epiphany (顿悟). What Is a Boy? Catherine was the coolest kid in her class. 43.To help the kids like Landy, what suggestions would you make?(In about 40 words) 提示词:形象、外貌look Dear Jim, __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Yours, Li Hua 原创精品资源学科网独家享有版权,侵权必究!9 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ ………………○……………… ………………○……………… ………………○……………… … 学校:______________姓名:_____________班级:_______________考号:______________________ 2024-2025学年高一上学期期末模拟卷(北京专用) 英语 (考试时间:100分钟 试卷满分:100分) 考生注意: 1. I had always wanted a dog. Catherine was the coolest kid in her class. 43.To help the kids like Landy, what suggestions would you make?(In about 40 words) 提示词:形象、外貌look Dear Jim, __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Yours, Li Hua 试题 第7页(共8页) 试题 第8页(共8页) 试题 第5页(共8页) 试题 第6页(共8页) 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
