A chapter (章节) from the fairy tale:
In the morning, Hilda took Ben and Sarah to the other side of the Mountain of Misery on her broom.
They flew for ages before they landed near a little river. The grass was green, birds were singing and there were flowers everywhere. Hilda gave them each a small black stone. “This will keep you safe,” she said. And she flew off again.
“This is a nice place,” said Sarah, surprised. “Look at all the lovely flowers.”
Ben went over to a flower and smelt it. Suddenly water ran out of the centre and down the petals (花瓣).
“Ha! Ha! Ha!” The children could hear someone laughing but when they looked round there was no one there.
Suddenly Ben shouted, “Ouch! What was that? It hurt me.”
He bent down to rub (摩擦) his leg and his flute fell out of his bag. Just then two little creatures ran over and lifted his flute and started running towards some bushes.
“Hey, that’s mine!” he shouted as the creatures dropped the flute and ran off.
“Come back! Who are you?” he shouted. But there was no answer.
“Let’s play some music,” Sarah suggested. “Maybe they’ll come back.”
So they sat down and played and the two little creatures came back.
“Who are you?” Sarah asked.
“We’re Bill and Jill. We’re goblins (小妖精) and we love music. Who are you? And what are you doing here?”
“We’re Sarah and Ben. And we’re on our way to find the Lord of Tears.”
“The Lord of Tears?” Bill and Jill said under their breath.
“Do you know where he lives?” asked Sarah.
“No, not really,” said Bill.
“Across the Sea of Sadness,” continued Jill.
“Can you show us the way?”

One day at 5:00 p. m., the students of a middle school were leaving their classrooms for home. Suddenly, one student fell down. But the schoolmates didn’t pay attention to it. They rushed out and stepped on the fallen student.
“Help! Help! Don’t step on me!”, the fallen student cried. It made other students panic (恐慌). They pushed and wanted to run away from the stairs. But more students fell down. Then it caused the accident.
Teachers shouted to the students, “Stay calm! Don’t push!” But most students didn’t listen to it. They hurried to the gate of the teaching building. Many students cried loudly. Anger often makes us uncomfortable. Seeing your child’s anger can be especially uncomfortable. In order to relieve (缓解) this feeling, parents often encourage children to “stop crying” and say things like “It’s nothing to cry about.” It’s moments like those that plant the seeds of unhealthy anger. The “stop crying” parents are just doing what they were taught by their own parents, who were probably taught that by their parents on and on. However, we should learn how to create healthy anger in our kids.
If a child never sees his or her parents express anger, he or she should never express anger, either. But if parents always express their anger loudly, their child may start to think of anger as something that is always frightening.
The first thing you can do to create healthy anger in your children is to practice creating healthy anger in yourself. Once you’re better at experiencing anger and expressing it in a healthy way, you’ll be able to set a good example for your kids.
Stopping kids from expressing their feelings is wrong. You may feel bad when you believe you are wrong. When children express their feelings and are told that it’s nothing to cry about, they come to know that they themselves are bad.
We need to raise them in an environment where it’s safe to express feelings. Once you feel more comfortable with your own anger, you can teach your children why anger is a helpful feeling. When your kids express anger, help them examine what it is that has made them angry. Why did it make them angry? How did it do that? Then, you can teach them that those feelings are never wrong and our expressions of feelings are in our control.
Anger is natural and normal, and it can be experienced and expressed in a healthy way.
57. Why do parents say “It’s nothing to cry about” to their children?
A. To encourage them to stop crying. B. To make them uncomfortable.
C. To relieve their anger. D. To plant the seeds of unhealthy anger.
58. Parents should set a good example for children by ________.
A. stopping them from expressing their anger
B. expressing their own anger in a healthy way

D. raising them in a safe environment

A. wrong B. uncomfortable C. harmful D. helpful

As an exchange student, I studied in France for two years. The first time I took a class in the chemistry laboratory, I was surprised to find that students were fully “armed”. Everyone was wearing goggles (护目镜) and gloves. Safety comes first for science laboratory class.
My chemistry teacher, Mrs. Louise, usually gave us the instruction paper the night before the laboratory class and let us read it. During the class, she first went over the steps and then put us into groups of two to do the experiments (实验). What was special was that for every laboratory class, Mrs. Louise changed everyone’s laboratory partner to make them work with different classmates. The class was often filled with laughter and screams (尖叫). We once tried to burn the chemicals and watch the colors of the flames (火焰). Different chemicals produced different colors of flames, including bright orange and dark green. Many students in my class were surprised. “Wow! That’s so beautiful!” they screamed. Then they excitedly took pictures, posted them online and sent them to their friends. Mrs. Louise didn’t get angry with us at all for our “noises”. She herself even took photos with us!
After finishing an experiment, we had to write a laboratory report. If we had a big mistake in the experiment, we needed to analyze (分析) why it happened and what we should do to avoid it next time. The laboratory reports were very important. They made up around 25% of our term grade.

In the morning, Hilda took Ben and Sarah to the other side of the Mountain of Misery on her broom.

“No, not really,” said Bill.
“Across the Sea of Sadness,” continued Jill.

Anger is natural and normal and it can be experienced and expressed in a healthy way.
