Can we improve our memory?
We’ve all been there—staring at a book, hoping that what we study will stick in our mind. Many
of us have probably wondered, “Is there any way to improve memory?” So, why don’t we look at
what memory experts say about this?
Every student knows that it’s helpful to review what they’ve studied before. According to
experts, we can learn things better if we wait for some time before trying to study them again. Try to
get something back from your memory after you have had some time to forget it. 1

that you can remember things better afterwards. 2 But some think it has to do with the
relationship between long-term (长期的) and short-term memory.
3 This can help you make connections between different ideas. Now, connecting them
to each other or to images is often considered a good way to remember something. Former world
memory champion Jonathan Hancock says picturing pieces of information in different ways or
connecting them to memorable images makes them easier to remember.
4 Hancock says that being generally organized makes things easier for your brain. So,
the good news to take from this is that while it may be hard, improving our memory is something we
can control.
A.It is not clear why this happens.
B.There are also more things that we can do to improve our memory.
C.Why are some people good at remembering?
D.Another study tip is to change between different topics as you study.

To Plan or Not to Plan When Traveling?
People travel in different ways. Some plan their trips carefully before they set out, while others
don’t, they just like to go and see where the wind takes them. Now let’s look at both sides of the
coin!
Planning can help you save money. 9 Planning can also help you save time. You can
plan your routes and make the most of your time. Planning can also make sure you see all the
attractions. 10 Some attractions might only be open on certain days or certain hours. Some
might need a booking. With a plan, you will not miss any of them.
With no plan, you have much freedom. You can change your routes at the drop of a hat! 11
You will be happy when you get surprises during your trip. With no plan, nothing can go wrong. So
you don’t have to worry when a bus doesn’t come on time, or when you get on the wrong train. Just
relax and go with the flow.
12 It is all about finding the right balance between the two, and we need to find out
which one works better for you.

are some of the new rules that students should follow.
13
Have you copied someone else’s work in the exams? If you have, stop doing that again! That’s
not something an honest student should do. If you have played online games for two hours in your
room, never tell your parents you were doing homework.
Learn to work together with others.
It would be more fun when more people work together. Did you quarrel with your teammates?
14 You shouldn’t only think of yourself but others.
Be open to new ideas.
Have you ever thought that people could live on the moon? Perhaps you’ll discover Earth II
someday. Don’t look down upon new ideas. Everyone’s ideas are important. 15
Use the Internet carefully.
The Internet can be very useful for your studies. 16 We should make sure to visit the

The right way to breathe (呼吸) during exercise
Exercising is great for your health—everyone knows this. However, simply exercising isn’t
enough. It needs to be done properly.
While exercising, making sure your breathing is correct is very important. Naturally, we breathe
through our nose. 27 Not really.
Breathing through your nose has its advantages. Your nose hair acts like an air filter (过滤器).
Breathing through your nose also warms and moistens (使……湿润 ) the air. However, when you
exercise, you should always make sure that you are taking in enough oxygen (氧气 ). 28
During more heavy exercise, such as running, it is better to breathe through your mouth. 29
However, most people usually take quicker breaths while doing any heavy exercise. This is one
of the most common mistakes that people make while exercising. 30 This can cause
dizziness (头晕) and other health problems.

In fact, while doing exercise like running, one should breathe in a 3:2 ratio (比率). This means
that for the first three steps, the person should be inhaling (吸气) deeply. For the next two steps, the
person should be exhaling (呼气) fully. In this way you can take in the largest amount of oxygen.
31 While we often breathe through our nose, breathing through our mouth is a good
choice as well. Sometimes people use both their nose and mouth to breathe. While doing any
exercise, your breaths should be deep, rather than quick. This will help you to burn more fat and keep
you fitter.
A.Let’s go over the basic points one more time.
B.You can breathe through your nose while doing lighter exercise like yoga.
C.Quicker breathing is not a proper way of breathing.
D.However, do you know the right way to breathe during exercise?
E.By doing so, you can take in a higher amount of air and thus oxygen.
F.But when you exercise, is breathing through the nose always the best choice?

Dealing with anger

and ready to act.
So are there any ways? 39 They think the first step is to realize that you are angry and
to know the real cause of the anger. Then decide whether the cause is serious. If it is, they say,
