At first, Manuel Vera just wanted to do something productive for his neighbors. He posted to an online group in his Silver Spring, Maryland, neighborhood, offering to fix people’s bikes for free. All he asked was to be paid for any new parts. “Then I started thinking about all the bikes that people have at home that never get used,” says Vera, 74, who is retired from the local power company. Soon he was asking neighbors to donate any bikes collecting dust in their garages and basements. Then, in his tidy little backyard shed, he’d get to work.
Vera’s workspace is nearly as tricked out as his bikes. Space is tight, so Vera prefers to work alone — though not for lack of volunteers. Vera fixes the donated bikes and hauls them to parks, food banks and apartment complexes. He camps out with his “Free Bikes” sign and waits for people to wander over. Then he pairs people up with the perfect new ride and watches them pedal away happily. His first giveaway saw six bikes go in under 30 minutes.
Now neighbors know him as the Bike Dude, and they keep him busy with a steady supply of bikes, helmets and locks to redistribute. The local farmers market collected 36 bikes at its first attempt. In addition to the adults and kids he meets at his “Free Bikes” events, eager customers come from local re-settlement agencies and other nonprofits. The groups provide Vera with the height, gender and age of a rider and he delivers a fitting bicycle to their door. He’s happy to make the trip.
“When I was looking for bicycles, it was very expensive, so when he does this for people it makes them so happy,” says Alashe, a 21-year-old refugee (难民). “It was one of my dreams to get a bicycle, and he helped me lose weight. So it’s very very good”. So far, more than 700 Silver Springers like him have new wheels to take the many where their feet can pedal, thanks to the bighearted Bike Dude.

B. By donating bikes and cycling equipment.
C. By delivering bicycles to the receivers’ door.
D. By offering personal information of the donators.
7. How has Vera’s project evolved since its beginning?
A. From renting bikes to selling second-hand bikes.
B. From recycling bikes to teaching riding techniques.
C. From organizing bike races to sharing bikes worldwide.
D. From offering bike repairs to collecting and donating bikes.

In the field of Chinese outdoor sports, the traditional dividing factors like gender and age have lost their significance. The charm of the outdoor experience goes beyond these boundaries and attracts people from all walks of life.
Whether they are young urban professionals or retirees, more and more people are getting out of the city and into nature. Lately, one of the hot-button topics in the art world is artificial intelligence (AI). Some people see AI as a means for democratizing creativity. It allows individuals of any skill level to produce stunning pieces quickly and without the expense of some more traditional art. This enables more people to generate work who would otherwise be limited by financial challenges.
AI is also proving beneficial for the business side of the art world. Because it can be created at a lower price than traditional art, those who couldn’t afford to buy art now have more options. Due to its access to data from countless sources, Al can assist in authenticating (鉴定) artworks by analyzing different stylistic elements. Collectors and investors can assess the value of artwork using AI, and the list goes on.
But it’s not all roses. Some worry that AI lacks the emotional depth that human-created art offers. Plus, as AI learns from user inputs and copies artistic styles, determining the rightful owner of AI-generated content has become increasingly problematic. It relies primarily on algorithms (算法) and pre-existing artworks, so there isn’t much creative input. There is also the concern of artists losing work and profits to AI. Because AI drives prices down for art collectors, artists are concerned that making a living as an artist will become completely impossible.
All of these above points ultimately bring us to the big question: Is AI art really art? Like every industry, the art world needs to embrace technological advancements or it will get left behind. While some think of art from AI as a valid form of creativity, others feel that AI can’t truly be classified as art because it lacks the element of human creativity. It’s true that the line between art created by AI and human art is getting less distinct. But from where most artists stand, the fact that non-AI art will always require human touch and thought process points to the fact that it can never be completely replaced by AI.
12. What is a benefit of AI for the art world according to paragraphs 1&2?
A. Increasing the value of artworks. B. Encouraging people to appreciate art.
C. Making art accessible to more people. D. Helping train more professional artists.
13. What does the underlined saying “it’s not all roses” in paragraph 3 mean?
A. There are no easy answers. B. It is a rather unpleasant topic.
C. There are also negative aspects. D. It is a black-and-white issue.
14. Who would most likely oppose AI involvement in art?
A. Users who provide lots of data for AI.
B. Experts who determine the owners of AI art.
C. Enthusiasts who appreciate different art forms.
D. Artists whose works are used as AI resources.
15. What does the author imply in the last paragraph?
A. AI art will not take over human creativity.
B. AI art is a technology without any limitations.
C. The future of art relies heavily on AI technology.
D. AI art is equally as valuable as human-created art.

Ben was a young boy, and his parents loved him very much. He always got whatever he wanted whenever his parents went to the market. Besides, Ben was a good example for other students for his excellent studies. He did his work neatly and was always polite and helpful to everybody. The only thing was that he always managed to get whatever he liked. If he happened to like somebody’s pencils, he was quick to exchange one of his own things for it.
One morning, all the children were gathering around Daniel because everybody was appreciating his new pen with his name on it. When the bell rang, everybody rushed downstairs for the PE class. While the children were making their lines, Ben’s teacher Miss Kelly asked him to bring some chalk from the classroom.
When Ben entered the classroom, he could not stop himself from looking into Daniel’s bag. He took out the pen to see it once more because he wanted that pen very much at that time. Suddenly, he heard footsteps and quickly put the pen in his pocket. Turning around, he saw Mary entering the class because she was not feeling well. Ben ran out with the chalk in his hand and the pen in his pocket.
When everybody came back to the classroom for the next class, Daniel found his pen lost. After Daniel told Miss Kelly that, Kelly thought it must be Mary who took the pen. She punished Mary and Mary started crying.
Ben was too afraid to tell the truth and give the pen to Daniel. He could not fall asleep at night at all. When he looked at the pen again and again, the pen no longer looked beautiful to him. He could not forget Mary’s sad face. He felt sorry for Mary because she had been punished for his mistake.

【答案】12. C 13. C 14. D 15. A

Du Fu and Lu You可知,不止一个诗人,poet应该用复数形式。故填poets。

第二节(满分25分)
47. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
When Ben entered the classroom he could not stop himself from looking into Daniel’s bag.

(1)续写词数应为150左右;

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】
He decided to say sorry to Mary and return the pen to Daniel. The next morning, Ben nervously approached Mary in the playground. He apologized sincerely, telling her the truth about what had happened. Mary was surprised at first, but soon she smiled gently, forgiving him. After that, Ben went directly to Daniel and handed him the pen. “I’m really sorry,” he said, looking down at the floor. Daniel stared at him for a moment, then smiled and accepted the pen without saying a word. Ben felt a huge relief as if a heavy burden had been lifted off his shoulders.
Miss Kelly was surprised after hearing Ben's words. She listened carefully as Ben explained how he had taken the pen and how Mary had been wrongly punished. After a moment of silence, Miss Kelly said, “What matters most is that you took responsibility for your actions.” Ben felt a huge weight lift off his shoulders as he saw Daniel smile and forgive him. In the end, Ben realized that honesty and integrity were worth far more than any pen or possession.
①.接近:approach/be close to/near
②.道歉:apologize/ make an apology
③.对……负责:take responsibility for /be responsible for
情绪类
①.惊讶的:surprised/amazed

[高分句型2]. Ben felt a huge relief as if a heavy burden had been lifted off his shoulders.(由as if引导的方式状语从句)
[高分句型3] In the end, Ben realized that honesty and integrity were worth far more than any pen or possession.(由that连接的宾语从句作realized的宾语)
