2025年中考英语第一轮复习之语法突破+题型探究(通用版) 专题6 阅读回答问题 (1) Building Schools with Bottles By Tracy Vonder Brink Is your school made of bricks or concrete blocks? Many are. But some classrooms in Guatemala and EI Salvador were built a different way—with bottles full of trash! Hug It Forward—bottle schools use plastic bottles, trash, and lots of community helpers. Let’s see how they do it! First, kids and other helpers pick up trash. They’ll burn plastic bags and chip wrappers into eco-bricks. Each classroom takes about 3,500 eco-bricks to build. That’s around one ton of trash! To make eco-bricks, the kids stuff empty plastic bags and chip wrappers into cleaned plastic bottles. They need about 80 plastic bags or around 100 chip wrappers to fill one bottle all the way to the top. Helpers from the community build frames for the classroom walls. They add chicken wire to hold the eco-bricks. The eco-bricks are tied in rows between the layers of chicken wire. Any gaps are filled with more plastic bags. Rows and rows of eco-bricks make up the walls. They are just as strong and last as long as other kinds of walls. 阅读短文,根据短文内容回答下列问题。 1.How are the classrooms in Guatemala and EI Salvador built differently? 2.What are the materials used to build the bottle schools? 3.How many eco-bricks are needed to build one classroom? 4.How are the eco-bricks made? 5.Are the walls made of eco-bricks as strong as other kinds of walls? (2) What’s your favorite sleeping position? On your back? On your side? How about standing up? Unless you happen to be a giraffe. I’d never have thought anyone would choose the last one. But now, thanks to a Japanese company, it could be a real competitor. Giraffe-nap is invented to allow the user to take a rest while standing when he/she feels tired or sleepy. Its purpose is to help the user improve performance at work. In an introduction to the nap box, the company says that it will allow the user to be refreshed (恢复精神的) in just 20 minutes. But why does it have to be standing? The company explains that studies have shown that sleeping while standing allows people to reach a sleep state and they can breathe easily. When they wake up, they can feel the effect of a nap without having to sleep too much. And they can quickly return to work without feeling dizzy (眩晕的). Also, making the box stand upright means that it takes up half as much floor space. Now, I know what you’re thinking—wouldn’t a person fall down if he tried to sleep while standing? Of course not. Inside the box are four points to support the body—head, buttocks (臀部), legs and feet. That means he can rest his arms, legs and head in the box while still remaining upright. Giraffe-nap has been made in two different styles. They’re expected to go on sale at the end of next year. So when that time comes, I hope you’ll try sleeping standing up—just like giraffes do. 阅读短文,根据短文内容回答下列问题。 1.What is giraffe-nap? 2.Who invented giraffe-nap? 3.How soon will the user be refreshed in the giraffe-nap box? 4.List at least one piece of advantage about giraffe nap. 5.Why wouldn’t a person fall down if he tried to sleep while standing? (3) Do you ever find yourself standing in front of rubbish bins, not sure whether the piece of waste in your hand is recyclable or not? To solve this problem, four Hong Kong high school students have invented a smart rubbish bin that uses AI to divide the waste. The students called the bin Waste Collection Point. The bin uses a camera to know the kind of the waste and divides it into plastic, paper, glass or other kinds. To make sure the bin can divide waste correctly, the team tested every product in the school shop and took over 500 pictures of each one. “To train the AI, we had to take many photos from different angles (角度), so it has a better rate of accuracy (精确度),” said one of the students. The students had the idea of the smart bin two years ago because they saw a lot of rubbish here and there in their village. Every weekend, they had to join the villagers in picking up the waste. The students decided to invent a special recycling bin that would encourage people to protect the environment. Although the school ended at 2 p.m., the team members would continue to work on their invention until 6 or 7 p.m. at school. “Our bin is now in its third generation (代). Before graduation, we hope that it can be widely used in the city.” The students said, “Then it will be easier than ever for people to recycle waste and protect our environment.” 阅读短文,根据短文内容回答下列问题。 1.What’s the name of the smart rubbish bin? However, he keeps fighting against life. He and Mickey Mouse are good friends. His girl friend is Daisy Duck. He also has three small nephews (侄子), Huey Duck, Dewey Duck and Louie Duck. And his car number is 313. He often drives his car to travel around with Daisy Duck. Donald Duck first appeared in The Wise Little Hen in 1934. So his birthday is usually thought to be on June 9, 1934. Donald Duck was included (被包括) in TV Guide’s list of the 50 greatest cartoon characters of all time in 2002. The festival started as early as the Warring States Period(475—221BC). It has a history of more than 1,700 years. Among the numbers from zero to nine, nine is the highest odd number(奇数). People believe that two “ninths” meeting together stand for(代表)a long life. So it is a special holiday for Chinese people to show love and respect for their elders. They hold many kinds of activities in honor of old people to wish them good health and a long life. The festival comes during the golden time of fall. On the day, people traditionally drink chrysanthemum(菊花)wine, eat Double-Ninth Cakes and climb mountains. They also carry a kind of plant, and its name is dogwood. (6) The Little Stream Choir (《小溪流合唱团》) was started at a primary school in Dongcun, Jiangxi. Of the school’s 282 students, 215 are left-behind children whose parents work hundreds of miles away and only come back once or twice a year. Dongcun is surrounded (环绕) by green hills and natural caves (洞穴), with clear streams flowing (流淌) out of caves. That is how the choir got its name. “We hope that the children, like a running stream, will flow along the mountains in their hometown to big rivers and seas outside,” said Zhong Linshan, head of the choir. But the road to starting the choir was not easy. Until 2017, there were no full-time music teachers in the school. In May 2017, a pair-up project started between the school and Xinyu University. Under the project, the university would send student volunteers to the school twice a week to give music lessons. Four months later, the children welcomed Zhong, their first full-time music teacher. When Zhong first came, she found that the children in the school knew little about music, and she had to teach them from the very beginning, “Do-Re-Mi.” To keep the children interested in music, Zhong tried hard to make the training fun, and she also prepared some gifts for them. Zhong’s hard work finally paid off. The choir is getting more professional and has performed at the New Year music show of Xinyu University since 2018. What’s more, the children are confident and brave after joining the choir. Six-grader Yan Jiaxin is a member of the choir. Since she joined the choir in Grade 2, the once shy child has grown into a confident, sunny girl. The Little Stream Choir makes us see the power of music. Best wishes to the choir and the children. 根据短文内容,回答下列问题。 1.Where was the Little Stream Choir started? 2.How often do left-behind children’s parents come back? 3.When did the first full-time music teacher come? 4.Why did the music teacher prepare gifts for the children? 5.What are the children like now after joining the choir? (7) Many people spend large part of time indoors—as much as 80-90% of their lives. We work, study, eat, drink and sleep in enclosed (封闭的) environment where there isn’t much fresh air. For these reasons, some experts feel that more people suffer from the effects of indoor air pollution than outdoor pollution. There are many reasons to cause serious indoor air pollution, such as smoking, cooking and heating appliances (仪器). Also we can smell vapors (蒸汽) from building materials, paints, furniture, which can cause pollution inside buildings. Some kind of natural dangerous gas from the earth can be found concentrated (集中的) in basements (地下室) in some parts of the United States. Pollution at home and work is often greater than outdoors. It is estimated (估计) that indoor air pollution levels are 25-62% greater than outside levels and can cause serious health problems. Both indoor and outdoor pollution need to be controlled and prevented. 阅读短文,根据短文内容回答下列问题。 1.What is the passage about? 2.Why do some experts say we suffer more inside? 3.Nature doesn’t produce dangerous gas, does it? 4.How many kinds of indoor pollution are mentioned in houses in this passage? 5.Which is more dangerous, indoor pollution or outdoor pollution? (8) On the evening of September 26, 2019, the streets of Geneva in Switzerland went dark. This usually happens when there is a problem with the electricity, but this time the lights were turned off to allow people to go outside and look at the stars. This is often impossible in a city because of light pollution. Light pollution is when light from streetlights or buildings makes the night less dark. There are many reasons why this is a problem. Animals sleep less because they think it is still daytime. Birds that fly to warmer countries in the autumn need to see the moon and stars to find their way, but light pollution makes this difficult. Insects and birds in cities often fly towards lights at night, knock into buildings and die. Light pollution is also bad for us. It can stop us sleeping and give us headaches. Also, we don’t see the same sky that people in the past did. This means we almost never see one of the greatest scenes in the world: the millions of stars. Hundreds of thousands of people have never seen it in their lives. However, it is not difficult to do a few things to reduce (减轻) light pollution: we can all turn lights off when we don’t need them and we can cover our windows. If there is less light pollution, we will once again be able to enjoy the beauty of the night sky. 阅读短文,根据短文内容回答下列问题。 1.Why were the streetlights turned off in Geneva? 2.What helps birds find their way? 3.What bad influences does light pollution have on people’s health? 4.How can we reduce light pollution? (at least two ways) 5.Give a proper title to the passage. (9) When looking at a pair of old chopsticks, most people would see nothing but waste. But Felix Bock would see boxes, tables, shelves and so on. In 2016, Felix Bock, a doctoral student at the University of British Columbia, Canada, found out people threw away about 100,000 pairs of chopsticks every day in Vancouver alone. He felt the need to do something. So he started the company ChopValue in the same year. The company collected used chopsticks from restaurants, schools and shopping centers in Canada and the US and turned them into furniture and other artworks. Now in its fifth year, with the rapid growth of the company, Bock employs (雇用) 40 people, and using his special press machines, he has recycled 32 million pairs of chopsticks. Bock takes pride in his work. And he hopes the idea behind ChopValue will help people rethink what they see as waste. “I believe every small action can help,” he said. “And I am happy that my business provides a new way for people.” Hundreds of restaurants across North America pay a small sum (金额) of money to Bock for the recycling of their used chopsticks. Bock doesn’t stop there. Now he is busy taking his business to more countries and has set up factories for recycling local wood like chopsticks in 10 countries. 阅读短文,根据短文内容回答下列问题。 1.When did Felix Bock start the company ChopValue? 2.How many pairs of chopsticks has Bock recycled in the fifth year? 3.What did Bock’s company collect to make furniture and other artworks? 4.Where were the restaurants from which paid a small sum of money to Bock for the recycling of their used chopsticks? 5.Who has set up factories for recycling local wood in 10 countries? (10) Everyone in China knows “Tianyan”, which is actually named FAST. It is the world’s largest single-aperture radio telescope (单口径射电望远镜), as big as thirty football fields. It was created by Nan Rendong— a scientist and engineer. Nan Rendong was born in Liaoyuan City, Jilin Province in 1945. He went to Tsinghua University in 1963. Some years later, he became a graduate student with hard work. In 1984, he completed more than ten great astronomical observations (天文学观测) in the world. In the 1990s, Nan Rendong studied and worked in Japan. At that time, to make astronomical observations, Chinese scientists had to borrow equipment (设备) from developed countries. So in 1994, Nan Rendong made up his mind to return to China, giving up the chance of making more money. He wanted to build the world’s largest single-aperture radio telescope for his motherland, so that Chinese scientists could see the far-reaching starry sky. It took Nan Rendong 24 years to plan for and build FAST. Finally, his dream came true, but the scientist left us forever after many years’ hard work. On Sept. 25, 2017, Nan Rendong passed away because he had had cancer (癌). He once said, “If there is only a small mistake when building FAST, we are sorry to the country and the Chinese people. (11) A Farewell Song No dust is raised on the road wet with morning rain; The willows by the hotel look so fresh and green. I invite you to drink a cup of wine again; West of the sunny pass no more friends will be seen. (Translated by Xu Yuanchong) Time flies and you will soon graduate from junior high school. It might be a little sad to say goodbye to your teachers and classmates. This same feeling was shared more than 1,000 years ago, when the Tang dynasty poet Wang Wei(701-761)had to say goodbye to his friend Yuan Er. The poem begins with a beautiful morning scene. After the rain, the road is clean and free of dust, and the willows by the hotel are fresh and green. On that day’s morning, Yuan Er is leaving for a faraway place called Anxi(in today’s Xinjiang). The last two lines are the most well-known. The poet invites Yuan to drink wine because he knows that life in Anxi will be tough. Most cities in China were prosperous(繁华的)during the Tang dynasty(618-907), but the western areas were quite desolate(荒凉的). Wang thinks the journey to the west will be full of hardship. So when Wang says “I invite you to drink a cup of wine again”, he is pouring both his care and good wishes into the cup. This sincere love for his friend made this poem popular back then and it remains popular today. 阅读短文,根据短文内容回答下列问题。 1.Who wrote the poem “A Farewell Song”? 2.What did the poet describe in the beginning of the poem? 3.Which word in the poem thymes with “green”? 4.What will the journey to the west be like? 5.What did the poet want to express in this poem? I didn’t know then just 16 hours after that, my mother would leave me forever. My mother was my best friend. After she died, I felt that I was the loneliest girl in the world. I didn’t know what to do and I just sat at the corner, with great sadness around me. My mother gave me many things, but she’d never taught me how to cook. She had learned to cook when she was a teenager and she had some secret recipes (食谱). Everyone said my mother made the best roast beef in the world. But her favorite food was fish pie. Almost every week, she would buy a prepared fish pie from a nearby supermarket. Then she made her own white sauce (酱汁), poured the sauce over the pie and served the dish to us for dinner. I felt tired of it. My mother never had time to teach me how to make a white sauce, and I never had a chance to ask her. Now that she was gone, I would have to teach myself. One night, I sat in front of the electric stove in the kitchen, recalling the past memories with my mother. An idea suddenly came into my mind—I wanted to taste that dish again. I quickly opened the fridge and found a prepared fish pie in it. Then with my mother’s recipe beside me, I tried to teach myself to make a white sauce. Halfway through the recipe, I couldn’t believe it—I made it! I poured the sauce over the fish pie and ate it. This time, I found it was the most delicious dish I’d ever had. 阅读短文,根据短文内容回答下列问题。 1.When did the writer’s mother die? 2.How did the writer feel after her mother died? 3.Did the writer’s mother make a fish pie with her children every week? 4.What did the writer make in the kitchen that night? 5.Why did the writer think the fish pie was the most delicious dish she’d ever had? 参考答案: (1) 1. (no more than 3 words) 2.How can the smart rubbish bin know the kind of the waste? (no more than 4 words) 3.What made the four students have the idea of the smart rubbish bin? Looking back, there is bitter and sweet. To overcome difficulties, we just depend on everyone’s efforts and keep going. It is the fruit from the hard work of a large group of people.” 阅读短文,根据短文内容回答下列问题。 1.How big is FAST? 2.Where was Nan Rendong born? 3.When did Nan Rendong study and work in Japan? 4.Why did Nan Rendong go back to China from Japan? 5.How did Chinese scientists overcome difficulties when they built FAST? (12) I got up early and made a phone call with my mother. I told her everything about my recent life. She yawned (打哈欠) and we said goodbye to each other. 原创精品资源学科网独家享有版权,侵权必究!1 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
