Feng Zhiliang,43 years old,has been working for the Handan Public Transport Group for
15 years. His recent video, where he skillfully announces bus stops in both Chinese and English,
was shared online by a passenger, gaining swift attention. Some online users remarked,"It's like
experiencing a flight for just two yuan!"Others praised Handan as a city that mixes its ancient
charm with modern trends.
The transition to bilingual stop announcements, combining Handan's history and culture,
started when Feng welcomed a foreign passenger with"Hello.Happy New Year!"during the
Spring Festival.Encouraged by the passenger's enthusiastic response,Feng was inspired to
make a change.
Observing a significant number of foreign passengers on the No.38 bus,Feng resolved to
enhance communication and service quality by using English, ultimately leading to his bilingual
announcements.
Feng's English learning began almost from scratch(从零开始)he enrolled in online
courses, searched for various English materials, and used translation software to study whenever
he could. After dropping off the last set of passengers each day,Feng would return home and
finish his chores around 9:00 pm.Despite his long day,he would still persist in studying for
another hour.Even the 20-minute break during the day at the bus garage was not wasted.
After three years of hard work and preparation, and encouraged by his colleagues,in early
2023 Feng began making bilingual announcements during the evening rush hour, when there are
the most passengers.
Feng recalled,"I was actually a bit nervous when I tried it for the first time, but you have to
take that first step. After that run, many people gave me thumbs-ups and supported me.So I feel
that I should persist and make bilingual announcements one of my goals. It's also one of my
wishes..”"

Crying is often thought of as an expression of wild emotion. But this is yet another
contradiction:In fact, crying can be a powerful tool to adjust our feelings,to maintain a deep
calmness in our emotional life.It can bring balance,peace-and,just maybe, even a touch of
pleasure.
Crying is very common, and typically human.Although many species call out in pain to
signal a need for help, only humans weep, with tears, for emotional reasons and not because of
eve irritation(眼部剌激).As the Dutch psychologist Ad Vingerhoets has recorded in his
research, two causes of negative crying are extremely consistent across populations and cultures:
helplessness and loss.
Occasionally, though,we weep for joy.Scholars find it perplexing, because it seems
counterintuitive(违反直觉的)that we would respond to overwhelmingly positive emotions with
a negative expression.New research conducted in several countries found that happy crying
tended to occur during four occasions:times of extraordinary affection, such as weddings(55
percent of positive crying,on average);moments of unusual achievement, such as winning an
award(29 percent);awe in the face of beauty, such as exquisite music (8 percent);and intense
amusement(3 percent).Classifying it,though, doesn't make it seem any more logical.
There may,in fact,be a deeper connection between happy crying and sad crying:They are
both a response to emotional extremes, which suggests that tears help bring us back to balance.
Overwhelming negative emotion is important-even lifesaving-in a crisis like being separated
from loved ones or being under threat;it creates the impulse to act with force or immediacy. But
staying in this state isn't helpful beyond the immediate crisis(nor is it pleasant),so we seek to
reduce stress and improve our mood-which crying can do quite effectively.
Emotional balance is good for well-being:Though strong feelings are inevitable, having
excessive and persistent emotional highs and lows is clearly not associated with good mental
health. In this sense, crying is definitely a good way to protect us from extreme emotions.

Space shouldo bea garbage dump.Nevertheless, the amount of space junk orbiting Earth
hasisn steeplyneyrs. Now flled with dead roketsand satelitesou poluted oital
nvronment is becoming more crowded, threatening the growing space conomy. It's time for
nations-and the billionaires to clean up Earth's near orbit.
The U.S.Air Force tracks more than 25,000 pieces of space junk larger than 10 centimeters
about the size ofa bagel-weighing together some 9,000 metric tons. This dangerous trash
moves around Earth at speeds of roughly 10 kilometers per second,or more than 22,000 miles
per hour.Collisions between millimeter-scale objects too small to track and working satellites
are now routine.Orbital debris()collisions cost satellite operators an estimated $86 million
to $103 million in losses a year.
Under the 1967 Outer Space Treaty ()nations are supposed to be responsible for
damages caused by space junk, even if it was originally launched by a private firm. That puts
taxpayers, not space-exploring billionaires,on the hook for damages from orbital debris even if
its origin can be proved and the company shown negligent(失职的)
No surprise,this hasn't worked.The problem is,after decades of discussion,there is still no
international treaty that limits space junk or sets standards for negligence. We need one that
outlines responsibilities and strictly requires fines on the companies whose spacecraft debris
causes harm.
As long as doing the right thing is voluntary,it may not happen, concluded a 2018 Air
Force Association report. The limited action since then tells us the world should have already
worked on an agreement on compulsory standards.Few countries or companies currently design
rockets for their complete life cycle. They must be forced to store enough fuel and keep the
capability for space crafis to drive safely out of space when their useful life isover. If spaceflight
industries and nations fail to play by the new rules, they should be subjected to painful financial
punishments.

As a CEO,I have found that the secret to my long-term success begins with getting curious.
This simple shift of mindset is the basis for the following rules. And I've used them to unlock
growth and open up new opportunities.
Get curious. We have all felt moments of operating without a north star to our career.36
You can start by assessing how the week went, what you accomplished, and how you felt about
it.Then,at the beginning of the next week, always paint a picture.37These brief
moments of curiosity will help build your career in small yet influential growth. If you cultivate
curiosity,your growth will be steady.
Be positive. There's a shift in how different generations approach work. But what's really
changed is a new way of thinking:38 The answer is simple. The company you work for is
a vehicle to learn new skills and habits that aren't part of your job or your level of experience.
Find the workplace that gives you space to develop.39 You have to raise your hand.Once
you develop a positive approach, your curiosity will fuel your development.
40 Your professional growth is within your control. You can be ambitious and always
say yes when opportunities arrive. But also be clear-headed about what is sustainable.Saying
yes without hesitation is the habit of a growth mindset.Asking for help when it's needed is the
mark of a sustainable path.Get curious about your professional limits and act accordingly.
A.Don't expect others to do it all for you.
B.Say no but know when to ask for help.
C.What does success look like this week?
D.Say yes but know when to ask for help.
E.Why are you working so hard for yourself?
F.Why am I working so hard for someone else?
G.The key to avoiding getting stuck is to get curious.

Farewell to Bad Learning Habits
As a student, I am eager to bid farewell to my bad habit of being a passive note-taker ir
class. I used to merely write down information without deeply processing it, which caused me to
forget key points quickly and have difficulty recalling the material later.
To improve the learning efficiency, it may be beneficial to relate new contents to existing
knowledge. Thinking is a more important ability than note-taking and memorizing. What's
equally important is to review and summarize my notes regularly
I believe these changes will help me to embrace better academic performance

Suddenly, a plan occurred to Adrena. She decided to revive her skills of weaving anc
embroidery. Day in day out, she practised a lot and made great efforts to make exquisite clothing
Once a batch of clothes were produced, she contacted the most prestigious dealer in the town
who was fascinated by her works and agreed to help promote them. It turned out to be such a
huge success that she was able to save a considerable amount of money.
The deadline arriving, Adrena handed Rodney a large package. At the sight of the
money piled inside the package, Rodney opened his mouth wide in a most unbecoming way.
"How could a mere woman figure all this out?!" Rodney could not believe his eyes yet. On the
other side, however, Adrena was smiling in a most becoming way, "Instead of selling off my
family's estate, I have made a life myself and paid off the debt."It is truly amazing what a
woman can accomplish within only one year
