It’s common to carry things on bikes, trains and even planes. But do you know small drones (无人机) can help carry packages to your home?
For two years, Google has been working hard in their secret research lab. Their latest project is called Project Wing.
Project Wing is Google’s invention of a drone delivery service. It is half plane and half helicopter and is slightly bigger than a seagull. It can deliver packages to buyers by drone to door.
The first drone test was made on a farm in Warwick, Australia. It sent sweets and dog treats to a farmer. The drone flew to the farm, hovered (盘旋), and dropped the package with a wire. Delivery is here!
The best thing about drone delivery services is that delivery time will be greatly cut down. You’ll be able to order what you like online in the morning. And by noontime, the delivery drone will land your package.
Throughout history, there have been different kinds of inventions that have helped people move things around, said Astro Teller, lead scientist of Google Wing, to CNN. Teller thinks Google drones will be the next big step.
Interestingly, drones are not that young. The US has been using armed drones since 2002. But drones may also get another use. Film companies have asked to use drones to shoot videos from the sky.
Yet Google’s delivery drones won’t be able to fly to buyers any time soon. However, Google has proved that drone delivery is possible. And with Amazon announcing their drone delivery service last year, the further research is going on to make delivery drones safe and suitable for buyers.
29.What is Project Wing?
A.Armed drones. B.Google’s invention. C.New apple APP. D.Wings to help people fly.
30.What’s the usage of the drone in Project Wing according to the passage?
A.Taking photos. B.Delivering packages. C.Ordering online. D.Hovering in the sky.

Smart wearable wristwatches (手表) have come a long way, offering a lot more than just telling time. They now help us stay healthy by keeping an eye on our heart rate, counting our steps, and recording how many calories we burn. What is the latest development? It can tell you when to drink electrolyte (电解质) drinks while you’re exercising.
Researchers from the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science in China have created a wristwatch that can check important chemicals in our sweat (汗液). They said that sweat isn’t just water; it also has electrolytes. These are really important for our health. Yang Meng, a scientist who helped with this study, says that losing too much of electrolytes when we sweat can cause heart problems. When we exercise, we sweat and lose both water and electrolytes. The new wristwatch can help by collecting sweat from our skin and checking the levels(水平) of electrolytes right away.
This isn’t the first time someone has made a sweat sensor, but what’s special about this wristwatch is that it can keep working well for a long time. The chief researcher, Huang Xingjiu, says it can check electrolytes in sweat for over half a year.
The researchers tested the wristwatch on athletes who were running long distances. They found that the wristwatch can tell users when their electrolyte levels are not balanced. This can help them avoid harm that happens during exercise. For people who aren’t athletes, testing electrolyte levels usually requires a visit to a hospital. This wristwatch could make it easier.
The wristwatch is not as small and light as other watches you can buy, but the researchers are working on making it more comfortable to wear. They also plan to make it possible to check different things in our bodies. In the future, they hope to use this technology to help examine (检查) the environment and harmful metals. So, this wristwatch isn’t just for athletes; it could help everyone stay healthier and protect our earth.
33.What does Paragraph 1 mainly tell us about wearable wristwatches?
A.Their quality. B.Their designs. C.Their purposes. D.Their inventors.
34.What is the use of the new wristwatch?
A.To help people control weight. B.To check users’ heart problems.
C.To remind athletes to take a rest. D.To test users’ electrolyte levels in sweat.
35.Which of the following words best describe the new wristwatch?
A.Useful and comfortable. B.Beautiful and light.
C.Heavy and expensive. D.Fashionable and cheap.
36.What can we infer about the wristwatch in the future?
A.It will only be used by athletes. B.It will be much heavier than other watches.
C.It will be made of metal. D.It will be further improved by researchers.

As more students begin to use computers for longer time, more of them are suffering from (遭受) eye strain (疲劳). Just a few hours in front of a computer screen can make a person’s eyes feel tired and painful. A number of eye doctors have studied this growing problem and have found ways to deal with it. Their advice will help keep computer users more comfortable. Here are some recommendations they have made.
The light in a room shouldn’t be brighter than the computer screen itself. In many classrooms, however, the lights are far brighter than they should be. Students can block some of this light by wearing baseball caps if they’re allowed at school.
A special computer screen should be used to cut down on bright light because it is especially tiring to the eyes. Another problem to avoid is the wrong kind of contrast (对比) on the screen. It is best to have dark letters on a light background. This causes less eye strain than light letters on a dark background.
Students should also be seated so that they are looking down at the computer screen rather than straight ahead, which is a far more tiring angle (角度). The top of the screen should be a little lower than the top of the head. Any document (文档) which is being typed in should be placed so that it is in the same line of sight as the screen.
The length of time students spent in front of a computer screen leads greatly to eye strain. Students should take frequent breaks by looking away from the screen every fifteen or twenty minutes. During that time, they should either close their eyes or focus on an object at a distance. Long-term computer use can dry out the eyes, so students should remember to blink (眨眼睛) frequently while in front of the screen. Blinking helps keep the eyes wet with natural tears and provides much-needed moments of rest.
37.According to the passage, what makes a person suffer from eye strain?
A.Staying up too late. B.Using computers too much.
C.Watching too much TV. D.Reading books for a long time.
38.What can we know from Paragraph 2 and Paragraph 3?
A.Students can cut down some of this light by wearing glasses.
B.The light in a room should be brighter than the computer screen.
C.Students can use a special computer screen to increase bright light.
D.Students can control the contrast on the screen to reduce eye strain.
39.What is the correct posture (姿势) for students when using the computer?
A.Standing straight and looking down at the computer screen.
B.Sitting much lower than the screen in front of the computer.
C.Sitting a little higher than the screen in front of the computer.
D.Keeping the top of the head at the same height as the screen.
40.What’s the main idea of the passage?
A.How to relax our eyes when using computers.
B.How to deal with eye strain when using computers.
C.How to avoid bright light when using computers.
D.How to keep a correct posture when using computers.

Driverless cars have long appeared in science fiction movies and books, but with the development of technology, things have changed a lot. 41
The development of the driverless car actually started in the 1920s. But it wasn’t until the 1980s that the first ones were successfully created, one of which was made by Mercedes-Benz. Since then the technology has gone from strength to strength. These days Uber is the latest to show its plan of driverless cars. 42 Google and Tesla already have driverless cars on the road.
But do we really need them? 43 Some would argue “yes” to both. If perfected, it could lead to much safer road conditions for all. It would be of great help to the sick and the disabled. They would also allow roads to increase their capacity (容量) between 200-400%. 44 Google’s self-driving car has had 14 small accidents. Even worse, Tesla’s has caused an accident seriously in 2015.
45 And what’s the future? Maybe you can imagine a world of flying cars taking us to work. They’re going to allow people to take long rides at 75 to 150 miles every hour where you’d get stuck in heavy traffic now. It’s really, in a not-too-far future, going to be something that is practical. Wouldn’t that be fine?
A.And are they really safe?
B.Driverless cars are still not perfect right now.
C.They have moved from a dream to a reality recently.
D.It follows Apple and Ford who have showed similar plans.
E.That means they can make the roads safer.
F.Perfection, though, seems to be just out of reach.

“Instead of over-retouched pictures, the platforms can show content digging into the c 64 of a tourist site,” Gu said. “The viewers, on the other hand, should understand that real traveling is far more than s 65 ‘checking in’ at an internet-famous site.”
七、任务型阅读(共5小题,每小题2分,共10分)
阅读下面的短文,根据短文内容回答问题。
No artist required
One day, Ammaar Reshi was playing around with a chatbot called ChatGPT, a computer program using artificial intelligence (AI) to copy the way human beings think and write. Reshi then came up with an idea to use the AI program to make a children’s book. The story of the book came from a conversation Reshi had with the chatbot, about a girl called Alice. And then he used another AI program, Midjourney, to make illustrations (插图) for the book. Midjourney is a new AI powered tool that can turn words into amazing artwork, like pictures.
The book, Alice and Sparkle, was done in just a couple of days. “Anyone can use these AI tools,” Res his aid. “And they’re not hard to use.”
Reshi posted about the book online after it was finished. Heated argument about it started at once. Some people liked the lovely story as well as the beautiful illustrations and praised Reshi for his smartness. But not everyone welcomed the birth of the special book. Among them, artists were especially critical of it. They think the way the illustrations were made was a big problem. Midjourney searches through millions of pictures created by artists on the Internet. And then it manages to find patterns (式样) in those pictures and create new ones based on the patterns. Artists often upload their work online for people to enjoy. But Midjourney could be using their work without permission (允许) .
“The main problem to me about AI is that it was taken from artists’ work,” illustrator Adriane Tsai says. “It’s our creations, our personal styles, that we did not permit them to use.”
Many artists and writers are nervous about the future. Will people pay for their work if it can be done cheaper by using AI programs?
Some companies are already choosing AI over human talent. The San Francisco Ballet used pictures made with Midjourney to improve its production of the classic The Nutcracker. At a funny performance club, an AI-powered robot told jokes that made people laugh out loud. Journalist Abraham Riesman said, “It’s deeply troubling to see people looking for cheap alternatives (替代品) to actual human writing.”
Reshi says technology companies should protect artists and writers whose work might be used by AI tools. He suggests that they should involve artists and writers in the process of creation.
66.What is Midjourney?
67.How did Reshi make a children’s book?
68.What did people think of Reshi’s book?
69.Why are many artists and writers nervous about the future?
70.Do you think it is a good idea to use AI programs in the process of creation? Why or why not? (请自拟一句话作答)

It’s really, in a not-too-far future, going to be something that is practical. Wouldn’t that be fine?
A.And are they really safe?

【答案】例文
With the development of modern science and technology, robots have entered our lives, which brings great convenience to us.
Household robots, which are widely used and popular with people, look cool and have many types. They have many functions. Firstly, they can be used to cook and clean rooms. Secondly, they can help to take care of the elder people, and spend time chatting or playing chess with them. Moreover, they can even make calls for help in case of emergency and save lives.
On the other hand, the technology used in household robots is not developed well enough to solve all the safety problems. What’s more, the price is too high for common people to afford one.
