One sunny day, Lucas was hanging out with Grandpa in the yard. He looked up at the tree and asked, “Grandpa, have you ever tried to get the apples on the tree?”
“Sure, Lucas!" Grandpa replied. “When I was your age, I loved climbing trees for the fruits.”

Some people say that the UK and the USA are two countries separated by a common language. It means although both Americans and the British speak English, there are many differences in the way they use the language. Having studied in both countries, I have found the differences are more than differences such as pronunciations and spellings. A big difference is communication styles.
I spent one term in the UK, and the biggest challenge for me was that people don't always say things directly. The British are famous for being polite. So polite, in fact, that they sometimes say the opposite of what they really mean. For example, when the British say “I almost agree", don't think they have similar opinions to you. Actually, they mean “I don't agree at all”. Before I could fully understand how the British communicate, I went home.
Later, I went to study in the USA for one year. I found that Americans like to be straight with others. When I spoke to them, I often had trouble getting straight to the point. For example, when I wanted to ask for help, I liked to say, “Excuse me, I'm terribly sorry to bother (打扰) you, but I seem to be lost. Would you be so kind as to lend me a hand in finding my way to the nearest station?" But Americans would find it strange. They would just say,“Hey, sorry to bother you. I' m really lost and need to find the nearest station. Can you help me?” ▲
Now, I have a better understanding of how to communicate in both countries, but I still have a lot to learn. As my experiences show, learning the pronunciation and spelling of words in a language is just the beginning!
( )32. How do the British show politeness?
A. They always keep quiet. B. They say things in a clear voice.
C. They speak without showing their opinions directly.
D.They communicate without showing different opinions.
( )33.How does the writer develop Paragraph 2?
A. By telling a story. B. By using numbers.
C. By giving an example. D. By showing two facts.
( )34. The best sentence for“ ▲ ”in Paragraph3is“”
A. I liked being straight. B. It upset me and I couldn't say anything.
C. Sometimes I had trouble understanding them.
D. I realized I had to learn a whole new way of communicating.
( )35. What's the best title for the passage?
A. Communicating Like the British
B.Ways of Making Communication Interesting
C.UK and USA: Common Language, Different Styles
D.UK and USA: Different Countries, Common Cultures

Based on the true story of Hong Kong's twelve-time Paralympic(残奥会的) medalist Su Huawei, the film Zero to Hero tells the touching story of how people who seemed to “lose”on the starting line can still achieve success as long as they carry on.
A baby crying on a dark night sets up the first scene of the film. Su's mother receives the sad news that her son has hemolytic jaundice. It means Su would have great difficulty walking and feeding himself for the rest of his life.
Yet, Su's mother believes that her son will never be ordinary(普通的), and begins her journey raising a future sporting star.
When young Su stands up on his weak legs for the first time at the age of 4, his mother feels euphoric and is full of hope that her son will achieve great things one day.
And her son does not fail her.
After entering the city's para-athletics(残疾人体育运动) team, the 15- year-old Su wins his first gold medal at the 1996 Atlanta Paralympics. Not only is this a great personal achievement for him, but it is also Hong Kong's first-ever Paralympic gold.
However, Su soon faces a difficult situation - his father gets into an accident and is unable to work. What should Su do? He decides to follow his dream and put bread on the table at the same time. He puts on a uniform to make deliveries (递送) in the day and trains at night.
As he continues training, Su rises as a superstar in international races, winning medals and breaking world records.
The film is encouraging and moving. The real-life Su Huawei raced for Hong Kong in five Paralympic Games from 1996 to 2012, winning 12 medals in total. Su may have begun slowly at the starting line, but he finally ran faster than anyone on the track (跑道)- and in life.

Science fiction is often seen as a “boy”genre (体裁), filled with alien spaceships, lab-created monsters(外星飞船、实验室制造的怪物) and robots ruling the earth. Most science fiction films feature male leads, while female(女性的) characters often play supporting roles.41___________
Not long ago, a science fiction film called Dune: Part Two became very popular. It is different from many other science fiction films. While it has a male lead and a lot of action, the major female characters are powerful and develop throughout the story.42___________ Because of these, the film has become popular among both male and female audiences(观众).
I believe that science fiction films and female audiences can connect well. This connection will grow as more films move away from a male viewpoint and include well-developed female characters.43_______________
There are already genres usually connected with women that are influenced by science fiction. For example, there are science fiction romantic comedies like About Time and The Time Traveler’s Wife.
44______________In fact, I believe there isn't really such a thing as“boy”science fiction films. Many films, like Star Wars and Star Trek, have a large female following and have always featured important female characters.
45_____________While it may still feel like a “boy” genre, it is becoming more inclusive and diverse(包容广阔的和多种多样的).
(
A.Science fiction is changing.
B.Women also fight alongside men in this film.
C.Most of my female friends watched the film and loved it.
D.I'm not saying that women can't enjoy traditional

Have you ever seen those flying robots in the sky? They are called DJI drones(大疆无人机), and they are very cool! You can fly them around and have lots of fun!
DJI drones have four propellers(螺旋桨)that help them go up. These drones are controlled using a remote that looks like a video game controller.
One of the great things about DJI drones is that they can take pictures and videos from high up in the sky. They have a special camera on them, and with this camera, people can take pictures or make videos in the air!
People can use DJI drones for all kinds of things. Some people fly them just for fun in parks or other open spaces. They do tricks in the air and have races with others. It's like being a pilot (飞行员) in your little aeroplane!
But DJI drones are not just for fun and games. They are also used for important jobs like aerial photography(空中摄影) and helping in rescue missions (救援任务). They can help find missing people or search through dangerous areas.

Dear Selina,
I'm really excited to hear about your art homework! I have a fun idea for you: how about creating a story and then making a short film about it?
I think it is a great way to be creative and express yourself. You can ask your family to join you, and you can have fun together! As for the theme, you can choose anything you like. The film doesn't have to be long - just a few minutes is fine. This will help you learn about storytelling and how to make films!
I can't wait to see what you come up with!
